Hi guys, yeah I had to RMA my Pixel 2 XL for what seems to be a relatively widespread issue judging by all the threads I've found on the official Pixel support board, XDA, Reddit, etc.

So yeah, I hoped for a brand new replacement but it seems they decided to send me a refurbished device that was produced in early November (3 weeks earlier than my previous, faulty phone). I have a few questions:
1) What's the condition of refurbished phones that are usually sent by Google? Can I expect a phone in perfect condition? I'm absolutely not interested in getting a phone that has physical damage considering how pristine my previous phone was (no scuff, no scratch on the body and screen, always protected in a case, etc.) You guys have been lucky with refurbished devices?
2) For the ones who received a refurbished phone, how was the battery wear? I'm asking cause I've seen people abusing and charging their phones from 0% to 100% two and even three times a day (gamers, people with with an addiction, etc.). I take good care of reducing the battery wear on my phones by limiting useless charging cycles, and I'm afraid I could get a refurbished unit that has a battery in bad shape with a premature reduced capacity, not knowing the usage habits of the previous owner... What is Google's position on that matter?
3) I was lucky to get a phone (the one I had to RMA) that had a good display with almost no blueshift, no image retention, no graininess and very uniform brightness, no speaker problem, etc.
Knowing it's a hit-and-miss, were you guys able to refuse and return a refurbished phone that had a bad display, speaker or other "minor" issues? I suspect Google is somehow trying to get rid of its lemons by sending them to users requesting a replacement...
Many thanks
To be honest, I highly doubt its a refurb.
I've RMA'd 2 (or 3?) times and each time I ask if it is a brand new device and all responses were that they only send out new units from the RMA office.
For my first RMA, I had the word "refurbished" in my RMA email and I quickly went on chat to inquire about it and they confirmed its a typo as its a new unit.

Have my second refurb on the way ???
I bought my phone panda 128 GB off Swappa for 570$ and i called google right after to get it transferred to my name. A month after, i requested a RMA and they sent me a refurbished unit which was in a perfect physical conditions it looked like a brand new device. Still have to test the battery life tho. If i paid 950$ for the phone I wouldn't be cool with a refurbished one.

Just got a refurbished black 64gb replacement today.
November 2017 build. Yuck
Just curious, what is going wrong with your phones that you needed to replace them? I am not giving anyone a hard time, just wondering.

I just RMAd mine yesterday because the power button stopped working correctly. Sometimes it won't work at all to lock the screen, sometimes it does, and sometimes it detects a single press as a double and opens the camera .
Hardware issues are a bummer...

Great to hear (literally)! My speakers sound OK but speakerphone for voice calls still doesn't sound great, how is yours?
I called Google a few days ago and got my device rma'd due to a dead pixel on my screen. I just hope my replacement hasn't got any issues as the rest of the device works well (charges slow but I don't really mind that )
I just got my second RMA. Both have been refurbished. First one started overheating and powering off every time I tried to charge it. The second the phone microphone died suddenly so I could only make speakerphone calls or video calls (different microphone). Both replacements were manufactured november 2017. Since it has a 2 year warranty, I plan to continue to RMA any hardware issues.

Damn man....you are making me worried about my rma....do they not check them first?? Especially if they are refurbished
To tell you the truth, my Pixel 2 XL is fine... My wife got 6th replacement today... Had to fight with them to get a brand new phone and not refurb.
I am currently on RMA unit #2, with #3 arriving today. I tried RMA due to blue shift when i first got my Pixel 2 XL back in November. Out of the 4 phones, only 1 of them had minimal blue shift, 3 of them had it very severely. EVERY phone has had speaker issues, either right out of the box or it developed them 1 week into owning.

I'm using my first refurb right now, just sent back a second refurb because speakerphone was bad right out of the box. Pretty sure the one I just sent back was a brand new original batch because it was still on September image and had stickers all over it still. Blue shift has been about the same on both refurbs which is too bad since original was better. Hopefully next one will work out.

Thought I'd create this topic to raise awareness if anyone is sending their phone to HTC for a repair of a gap on their phone. My phone has a gap on the left hand side that dust and dirt collects in. I sent this phone back on the 10th of May to get this fixed, it was classified as an 'assembly gap', the phone was returned with a list saying everything that was replaced (motherboard/sound chip/vibrating motor), but the gap wasn't fixed. I sent the phone in again on the 25th of May being reassured it would be sorted this time (especially after my confusion as to why motherboards/motors/ect were being replaced for an assembly gap), and to my shock HTC emailed me a quote for repair this morning
Dear
Our initial assessment of your device indicates that the repair work required is caused by damage that isn’t covered by warranty. Unfortunately, this means we must charge you for the repair.
We have prepared a quote for you which you can view, accept and pay for at
If you decide not to complete this repair, your device will be returned to you following receipt of payment for the administration and shipping costs incurred. You may use the same link as above to arrange this.

Waiting for a response from CS now. HTC Chat told me the repair centre hadn't given enough reason as to why there was a quote, so it had to be investigated further. Sounds like repair trying to pull a fly one on an unsuspecting customer. Angry to say the least.
Phone is locked btw, I didn't even take it out the house/really use it at all when it came back because of the gap still being there (other than turning it on and sending 1~2 texts), so the phone is in the EXACT same condition as it was when repair sent it back.
As I said I want people to know about this for their own sake, and on a personal level I'd like to raise awareness and share with everyone what happens next.

Dude, I had the same issue and my carrier is swapping my phone. HTC had to confirm that there was a fault but only did this via phone.
You spoke to the seller you bought it from? They're responsible under the sales of goods act, assuming you live in the UK.

I've returned directly to HTC myself, didn't go through my seller.
Depending on where you got it from you should not have had this issue.
If it's under 28 days, ANY company in the UK has to provide you with new handset. That's basic consumer law (so I've been told, so I'm open for correction) I've had a few One X's with manufacturer defaults, all were replaced by The Carphone Warehouse on the same day I went in with the problem.
I've not had the best experience with HTC and customer support. I sent a Desire off for repair around this time last year, after a month and a half I didn't have my device back.. eventually they sent a brand new one, but still
Just maybe OT: but how big is the gap? I mean I have a gap along the whole screen on both sides of the ring. So gap next to screen , the black ring (or how should I call it) again gap and then there is the PolyCarbonate or how its called.
The gap is as thick as paper I guess maybe little more and yeah dust gets in it. It doesn't bother me as much. Just wanna know how big is your gap that you returned the device?
And also why it should bother me. As I had next to my device a SGS II which had also gaps next to the screen as big as this and other phones as well.
Can the dust there be dangerous to the device itself?

HTC chat told me the gap shouldn't be there, I explained it wasn't that large but allowed dust/dirt to get in. I explained the seal on the right of the phone didn't have any gap.
Btw there was also a bit of dirt trapped under the screen top right.

Consumer law is not quite as clear as that, but to all intents and purposes, you can assume that to be the case. Within 28 days you should never send for repair. Always insist on a replacement.
Just FYI, if you buy a new car and it has a fault, you cannot demand a new car within 28 days
Also, as said, the responsibility even after 28 days lies primarily with the seller and NOT the manufacturer. Many websites, including Amazon suggest that after 28-30 days, they wash their hands of anything to do with a problem. That is not the case at all.
That sucks, my brother had a similar problem too with his desire hd, it went on for months back and forth untill he decide to turn to the dark side and bought a 4s instead!
So HTC are asking their customers to pay to fix problems on the assembly line and their lack of quality control? Nice!
Sounds like we dont havent warranty, no matter is the bootloader unlocked, re-locked or locked ... nice HTC. That will be my last HTC for sure ...

Same here. Trying to get my yellow spots fixed, but customer care is keeping me in the dark for the second time ( first ticket was closed without any reply/reason, second one is still open with no further response after almost 3 weeks). Here in India it seems better. Got my phone yesterday and noticed screen creaking when i got it home. I went to the HTC service center and they inspected it for 5 mins and gave me a DOA slip. Took that and my faulty phone back to the shop and they replaced it within 5 hours.
The customer care told me this is the procedure.
To add a bit more to my story (as funnily enough HTC started out 'okay'), I got my first handset from affordablemobiles.co.uk for release. It was a serial #23, very bad screen flex and screen ripple.
AM don't do straight up exchanges, they take the phone back for inspection. At this stage right after release the screen flex/distortion scenario while starting to get 'fame' on XDA, wasn't as widespread in media yet. AM sent my phone back saying nothing was wrong with it. That angered me and someone suggested telling HTC to give them a kick up the arse and to exchange.
HTC however just asked me to send to them if my retailer was refusing an exchange. I did, and HTC actually sent me a new handset (although it COULD of been a refurb). It was a #24 serial.
This one had the gap at the side, and a misaligned camera ring. I sent it back to repair on the 10th as my comment in the first post in this topic. It came back unfixed yet with a nice list of all this other stuff repair supposedly changed (motherboard/motors/sound chips/ect).
I noticed this time as well dirt trapped under the screen at the top right, I assume this dirt was there when the handset initially was sent to me the first time but I had just missed it. My assumption for this is the repair note didn't say anything about repairing the screen, and the gap was still there, something that needs the screen repaired to fix. Therefore no one had done anything to the screen, quite clearly the issue I had sent the phone in for which was described clear as day on my repair note.
And now I'm left with a bill when HTC repair finally decide to repair the gap on the screen. What confuses me most is how I sent the phone in the first time for the gap and they'll happily exchange all the innards and send it back, but now they've changed their mind and have decided the gap they can now see is my fault, or not covered.
what confuses me is that they did not say the reason why the warranty is not covering it for you

That confused the customer service as well, considering their response was we don't know enough as to why there is a quote
This is why I've to now wait 2 days to find out. Must be scrambling to make up the best reason possible to charge me £169 Unfortunately for them they'll find that their bootloader is in it's precious "locked" state. It would be ridiculous anyway if they tried to say an unlocked bootloader caused an assembly gap.

well you better hope they do not come up with an excuse that it was you who caused that gap and get you to pay for it. you never know with these companies. i feel for you mate cause like me you just want a phone that is perfect and that you can enjoy.

I am considering to sue HTC once I have the sam problem with my 3 days old phone. I bought from Expansys.ca and soon I opened it I saw a little gap between the glass and the body. I contacted HTC and they asked to send the phone to a service shop to be fixed. Hey its is a brand new phone, nothing to be fixed here. It is just a Quality Control issue and needs to be replaced under their own warranty statement. The phones come with a defective assemble. I want a new phoe at no extra cost or my money back. If they don't want give me that I am just getting it to court and I am sure I will win.

Dear A.P,
I can definitely understand your being concerned about there being a gap between the top of the screen and the body of the phone. I’ll be glad to help you, Anderson. I would be extremely concerned about the gap in your phone. If you can actually see inside the phone, it’s very possible that humidity, sweat, and dirt can enter and damage the phone, even in the short term. I would first suggest contacting the retailer you purchased your One X from and see if they can exchange yours for a different one. If for some reason they cannot replace the device for you, we have a repair department that can service your device. You can contact them by calling 1-888-617-1113. They’re available from 06:00 am – 01:00 am EST, 7 days a week. Make sure you have your One X with you if you call, as they will need its serial number to process the repair.
If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to let me know. Thanks for being an HTC customer and taking the time to contact us.
Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.

Hi,
Am from India, and am observing a screen flex on my HOX. When I press at the corners of the screen I see very annoying screen flexing effect. My device serial number starts with HT24. And I havent observed this problem in the units with serial number HT23. Is there some defect in this particular HT24 lot ???
Do anyone observe this problem?? Please let me know.

The problems are present in all batches. I had it on my first phone and replaced it the next day.
Just take your phone to a HTC service center get a DOA certificate and exchange the phone in the shop where you bought it from.
its pretty well explained on this forum
if the screen is physically moving on pressure ie up and down, its a defect
if you mean LCD ripple on out edge pressure, its in most of them, unless its very bad, its ok it gets less with time

- Thanks for the information.
I had visited one of the service center here, and when I showed them the mobile, they said it will be common for all LCD screens. So, I just re-checked in one of the outlets here and observed no issues in the demo One X mobile present in the stores.
And it is worsening day by day. So, I have decided to return the phone. After we return the Phone HTC will give me a DOA certificate ? Or, service center people are authorized to do that ?
Am out of one month period after purchase, then it might not be possible to get a replacement ?

In India its a 14 day replacement period. Now they can only repair your phone, Go to the service center tell them that the issue is not there on all devices. They must and should repair your device otherwise call up the customer care and complain to them.

Are you telling me this is normal on the one x?
This is really bad. Am facing similar kind of behaviour but the flex was not so prominent like what you shared, now I feel that if I don't take a necessary action It may get worse.
And I do find a click sound on right bottom corner of the phone. This all feels like some problem in screen lamination.
Did you replace your mobile ?

Do HTC acknowledge this Screen Flex issue ? (Like Wi-Fi issues)
If they acknowledge we can be sure that, we can get the problem solved when we send it for service.
How to bring this up to HTC notice ??? Any senior XDA member route this thread to HTC notcie... !
(Like, someone did it for showcasing the Wi-Fi gripping problem).

SGS3's are being reported with hairline cracks on the bezel that surrounds the front of the phone when they're taken out of the box.
Some also have gaps on the left side where the display meets the body of the phone and it collects dust.

The display also cracks easily under stress.
Here's the difference between One X owners and SGS3 owners. People on the SGS3 forum realize any device produced in the millions means a certain percentage are going to have issues. On the One X forum everyone screams like Chinese tree monkeys and starts a poll every time an issues's discovered. My HT23 has been perfect since I got it. I'm assuming it's not the only one. And God, please don't respond "but the One X has more issues than the SGS3." Any evidence of that is purely based on the chatter between users on this forum which is the most emotional I've ever seen on XDA.

Sure that you are right there is no phone without issues or a manufactor without manufacturing issues but c'mon i my self had an headache because of the one x man too many problems im not saying that the s3 is without issues but i hope its not like with the one x man does that phone have issues and one thing with any phone or device (tablet,pc,laptop..etc) there is a chance to get a defected one but with the htc one x its the way around, there is a chance that you'll get a working phone but mostly thats not the case and you get a "defected one".Mine had screen flex issues and also ripple and flickering also 2 days after using the phone startet to get yellow spots and it overheated a lot and the battery sucked i tried 3 devices and all had similar issues mostly screen flex overheating and bad battery life you cant call the last one a defect or an issue but for me it is hope the galaxy s3 is better if not then apple here i come (iphone 4s)
Mine had screen flex before it some how went away. Didn't do anything just used it. It wasn't very bad to begin with though. I won't be pushing so hard on my display anyway. Its capacitive, no need for all the pressure. But thats just me.
Mine has the same issue on both the corners. I wont consider this as an issue as long it dose not get worse. mine is just 2days old and i have already rooted it and i am running the phone on insertcoin ROM. I am little concerned about this issue getting worse in the future. But now that i have rooted it the question is will the HTC service center replace my phone? I live in India (Bangalore). Has any one from India had luck in getting their phone replaced after rooting and installing a custom ROM and then restoring it to the stock ?
I have an issue with the network drop as well. if i move in to a place where there is no network and then come back to a place where i can get a complete network the phone still wont connect. i will either have to restart it or will have to switch on the airplane mode and switch it off. This is a little annoying as i really cant keep checking my phone for the network connectivity. And this is not a rare case i have seen a lot of other people complaining on the same issue. Now i get this flex issue too Not really happy with the phone as it should not have the very basic problems as the network connectivity Common HTC do something about this.
Hey guys,
Just bought a brand C6502 and the display is all messed up after not using the phone for more than 15 minutes.
The displays gets all garbled and then either display some lines or just stays a dark grey color. It then sometimes comes back to normal and then gets corrupted again. I managed to do the software update hoping it would fix it, but same issue. I also tried resetting the phone to no avail. I am now trying to see if the seller will do an exchange... not a good feeling.
Word of warning for those of you considering buying this phone from ShopBLT or a place like that which doesn't allow exchange.
Here is a pic of the screen... any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hopefully if the seller helps me out... horrible.
Question - how do you soft reset it? Volume Up + Power for a few? It's not working for me if that's it.

Found it... have to open SIM/SD Slot... there is a little "power" button that must be held until device vibrates 3 times.
Screen is still DEAD.
Is there a way to wipe the phone w/o the screen being visible?

Nope Your best bet is to contact the seller and hope they allow an exchange. That sucks.

ShopBLT
Looks like they can return it read there policy here
What does "NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES" mean?
A. Some manufacturers and suppliers require us to enforce a more restrictive return policy on their items. These restrictions (if any) are noted in the product's description and supersede our standard return policy. For example, if an item contains "(NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES)" in the product's description, that means you cannot return the item to us, and we cannot replace it, for any reason. In other words, the sale of that item is final, and you must contact the manufacturer for any assistance with replacing or repairing the item.
Some items can only be returned if unopened. On others, we can only accept returns or ship replacements if defective. Some items can only be returned or replaced within a specific number of days. By carefully reading the item's description for such notations, you will know whether anything you wish to purchase is subject to a special return restriction.
It is important to note that none of these restrictions apply to the manufacturer assisting you or replacing your item under its warranty (if one is provided by that manufacturer.) In fact, most special return policies are the result of manufacturers wanting to work directly with you. Lastly, these additional restrictions if present, are not by our choice. We are simply following the rules as given to us by various manufacturers and suppliers.
I have also been looking at BLT C6502 and it has been out of stock? When did you buy this?
I think they will help you out if the can.
Hey guys - sorry if the first post seemed as if I bought it from ShopBLT. I was/am annoyed and didn't make it clear. I got it this one from an eBay seller (never-msrp). He hasn't responded yet as far as the exchange. I got to play with the phone all of maybe 5-10 minutes? If that?
I was mentioning the ShopBLT portion since I know many of us were waiting for them to stock the US LTE version of the phone. I settled on this one since I couldn't wait longer.
I'm hoping something positive comes of this... at the moment I'm out the money and the phone is a paperweight.

Why did you go to eBay? Negrielectronics is cheaper than ebay or was cheaper than ebay not sure how much you paid.
If all else fails File a Claim on PayPal and say it arrived like that and send in pictures.
PLEMIX is the cheapest now!

MSRP response to emails a bit late as they get lots of orders but their service has been good for the last two time I dealt with them. once I had a defective phone and they helped very much.
Its possible if you hear back from them after mid-night.
Good Luck
I also got my zl from MSRP and it was $599. Everything works fine on my phone.
I have dealt with them for other big ticket items and their customer service is why i went back to them for this purchase.
Im sure a little explanation to the right customer rep will award you an exchange.
Call Jessica she is always pleasant to deal with.

Spoke to Jessica on Saturday and today. She only deals with shipping so she was unable to help with my issue but marked my messages as urgent which didn't seem to do much. Finally heard back just now, they want me to send them the unit so they can check it and I suppose go from there. Its progress, but I wish I would have been able to ship it back since Saturday to speed this up.
Twice now I've restarted my phone and its stayed like this until the next restart. Anybody else seen this issue or have any ideas?
The full touch screen still worked so it's just the display part acting up.
This is a sprint model by the way.

I have a friend with similar issue, but hers is maybe a quarter of the screen, sprint also.
Yup i have that problem it comes and goes when it wants..Sprint is aware of it from what a Tech told me I'm waiting for a replacement

No remedies, you'll have to get a replacement, contact Sprint if your device is still under warranty.
An update in case anyone else comes across this issue.
I don't have Sprint insurance but took it to their store anyway. They recognized the problem as a warranty issue right away. Without Sprint insurance they said it would cost me $75 for them to act as a liaison between myself and LG warranty.
Instead I chose to fill out the LG Warranty claim online and ship them my phone. I'm using my old One M8 now and their prepaid FedEx label is carrying the G4 back as we speak.

the thing with sending the phone in yourself is that they repair your actual device, while paying 75 dollars at sprint they give you a brand new device.

Yep I thought about doing an ESN swap, adding insurance to the line, then doing an ESN swap back to the G4. No idea if that would work but it was a thought.

mine just had this happen. I've had my phone for a few months on Sprint and no issues. when I went into my Arlo app to view my wifi cameras at home, I used the pinch and zoom function to zoom in and that's when my half my screen went to a rainbow snow pattern. I took out the battery, rebooted, and no luck. I left it alone for a minute and hit the back power button to light the screen and I had my full screen back. Did my pattern unlock and half the screen went to rainbow snow.
I don't know how that app broke my phone, but it wasn't until I tried to zoom in that this happened. Now I get a full screen sometimes for a minute or two, but then it goes half rainbow snow.
I plan on filling out a support request with LG tonight if this keeps happening. Any thoughts? similar experiences? I do not have insurance through sprint.
I received my T-Mobile warranty repair phone today after my 1st LGG4 died last week. Now I have this crazy flashing poltergeist thing going on!! [emoji35]

Repair Results:

Sounds like I'm about 1 week ahead of you. Don't bother taking it to the Sprint store unless you want to shell out $75. Fill out the LG warranty claim online, wait for a FedEx return label, and ship it off. Mine is scheduled to arrive back in my hands tomorrow so I'm hoping I have no further issues.
I too have been having the same issue but I have a small quarter of the screen flicker with that rainbow effect no reboot needed but it gets me a little worried.

I started the ticket and got this response this morning:
"We have received your web support service request online and we would like to inform you that we have not get the correct issue about your unit. Thank you."
If I could reply to the email I'd send them half a dozen links to either pictures are posts of people with the same problem. I'm going to call now and straighten this out. I thought I explained my issue like a handful of others have, but I see this requires some further action.

Has anyone tried flashing these stock KDZ files to fix this issue? I'd go that route if that's all LG will do anyway to try to fix my problem. Just curious if anyone's tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
I have a Verizon G4 and have been experiencing this exact issue since day one! At the start, it would only flash on the right half of the screen once in a while, but over the past couple months, it's been getting progressively worse. Yesterday, it became permanent and no amount of restarts or anything I've tried can fix it.
If all else fails, I'll send it in to LG, but I feel like there has to be an easier way. I'm assuming it's a software issue caused by Sprint/Verizon's OS modifications (the H815 never had any problem like this for me), but couldn't it also be a hardware defect, like a loose connection to the screen? If so, it'd probably be relatively easy to fix ourselves, since the G4 is so simple to disassemble.
I'm going to try booting into safe mode and freezing suspicious pre-installed apps first to try to narrow down the cause. I encourage all of you to do the same and post your results so we can get to the bottom of this! It's a more widespread problem than it seems, my friend who got a Verizon G4 around the same time as me has also been having this problem since she got it.
Edit: Can confirm booting into safe mode didn't fix anything. A hardware issue is seeming more and more likely.
I had the same issue recently. Mine was the left side. Nothing fixes the issue. I'm with sprint as well. Got mine replaced. They were on backorder. Took a week. But did get a brand new one. It's working great

Thanks everyone. I just shipped mine off today. I guess I assumed the free label included a box, but I'll eat that if my damn phone is fixed.
I'm not sure what caused the weird screen issue but, I'm very appreciative that T-Mobile replaced my phone immediately without any hassle and on their dime.

i've had this once, except the half was just black, not like the picture showed there.. it went after another reboot, and never came back, but it sure is quite weird. I thought software was at fault though rather than hardware when it happened.. how could half a screen just stop working without software being at fault?
So I just had the half screen issue again for the first time since getting it back from LG nearly 2 months ago

I've legitimately had 7 or so rma's and just got one this week for a speaker issue. It was just buzzing, try the YouTube technique of pressing in with a guitar pick and it did not help at all.

now if I may ask you, what were the main issues with the devices you got in return again the device that I have right now is spotless but the girl on the speaker seems to be loose and I can actually move it around and wiggle it inside of the hole... The only reason I want to return it is because of the waterproofing being faulty now I don't want to damage my device
that and I have an abnormal battery drain on my phone as well so I am hoping that I get a newer phone with a better screen and newer battery if it is possible and a fixed speaker Grill lol..
The guilty for this device was in December did you notice anything about the build dates for your devices how are the screen or what was your experience like

I honestly am ignorant to the build date thing. 1st one screen burn in w/in first month or so. rejected RMA because screen would flash white every time i turned screen off. 3rd one, gps kept saying i was in CLE, no one from google knew why, so they sent replacement. they sent RMA, rma speakers were garbage. rattled and muted with ANY pressure to the screen, they repkaced and lower speaker was buzzing.. this one seems great
RMA'd mine in August for a problem with the USB port. The refurbished device I received was like new. The only difference, it came in a different, thinner box, without the charger.
Don't worry, you'll get a perfect phone. In fact the replacement device I got has a better display, with less blue shift

I did the same at the beginning of October for the same problem. The one i received is in mint condition.
I just RMAed mine because it would no longer hold USB C cables. Like they wouldn't click in they just fall out. Also i had an enormous amount of screen burn-in (happened just weeks after i got the phone)
My RMA phone looks brand new i would never guessed its a refurb. Screen is perfect and USB cables click in and stay there.
Plus if you got the phone from Google the RMA process is super easy (had to RMA my Nexus 5 too) They dont make you jump through hoops doing stupid troubleshooting crap.
RMA'd mine a few days ago, replacement should arrive today
Had screen burn-in around the navbar area
Speakers rattled too much for my liking
Battery life was becoming pretty bad regardless of being stock/on a custom ROM/kernel
USB port, although was holding cables in place, would come out very easily
The Google rep basically stopped me at burn-in and asked for proof of purchase (order ID) and proof of burn-in (taking a pic of the screen with another phone)
After I did both, he set the RMA up and now I'm just hoping the replacement is issue-free, since I have read some users sending replacement after replacement back because the replacements had issues of their own. Fingers crossed!
Update 1:
Due to Canada Post labour disruptions, my replacement is delayed ?. I'll update this post with the quality of the replacement as soon as it arrives.
Update 2:
Finally received the replacement and I got lucky with a brand new device! I called to ask if I need to send back accessories that came with my device and I do not. Basically have two of every accessory, on top of a brand new phone (and not refurbished).
It is manufactured in October 2017 but I see no blue shift or other screen issues. If anything it looks better! I just need to test the battery, hopefully it hasn't depreciated just sitting in the box for a year.
I RMAed a pixel 2 and a pixel 2xl and got 2 brand new phones (with old manufacture date tho) living in germany fyi
I RMA my Verizon pixel 2 xl about 2 months ago because the phone would lag, freeze, and become unusable Everytime I had Google maps navigation open and Spotify running in the background. No questions asked, phone was still under warranty, and I received my new device(was not refurbished) 2 days later.
I just RMA'd to Google here in Canada. Had freezing and lagging issues. That sent me what appears to be a brand new device, box, charger and all. My screen even had a small crack but they still sent me a new one.

I wonder if they actually use the same facilities for Canada and the United States
Did you ship locally in Canada or did you ship to the United States @acheney1990
I'm in this same boat. I have RMA'd three times now, always having random freezes, frame drop outs and lagging on stock ROM, no root. My RMA is scheduled to be delivered today. I have received refurbs each time, but they have been good phones for the most part.
I had to RMA the replacement device I got in August because of camera problems.
It went smoothly and it was fast the first time, but that time it seems Google it trying to make the RMA process hell for me.
I contacted them last Monday (October 22nd). After the usual resolution steps (Was the phone dropped? Is the camera app up-to-date? Can you reproduce the problem in Safe Mode? Have you factory resetted it? blah blah blah), they accept my RMA request and tell me I would receive my shipping label soon.
At 9 PM the same day I receive this email instead:
Thanks for contacting Google Support.
This email is in regards to our conversation we had over chat. Due to some tool issue at our end we're not able to generate RMA for the standard replacement. Once the issue will resolve, we'll create the RMA and send you an confirmation email.
Alternatively, if you wish we can process the Advance exchange in this case.
If you've any query, please let us know. I'd happy to help you.
Thanks!

Fair enough, problems can happen and they must be very busy with the Pixel 3 launch. I'm not a jerk, I can understand there are delays.
But still no email, follow-up or update from them after a week. On October 29th (last Monday), I contact them again and talk to someone else. I explain the situation, and they tell me they'll retry to generate my RMA request/shipping label. After almost an hour of trying to re-create my RMA , the employee I'm talking to asks me if it's OK to continue the discussion by mail instead. I accept. Mistake
Later that day, same sh*t again. No shipping label, I receive this email instead:

I provide them with the requested informations immediately.
Two days later, still no follow up. I write an email asking what's going on and asking if they need something else. Many hours later, they send me this:
Thank you for contacting Google support team.
My apology for the delay. I am in direct touch with the next level. I would request you to help me with the proof of purchase of the device with visible order ID on it.

I sent them a screenshot of my phone order with the order ID. I'm awaiting for a response, but at this point I feel they're somehow trying to buy some time.
I'm a very polite customer, but that's so frustrating... the RMA was accepted 10 days ago, just send me my shipping label for the love of God... You're telling me it's been a week and a half, and your system still can't generate RMA shipping labels? You're Google ffs, not a small, unknown company...
I'm stuck with a device I paid $1400 CAD and it doesn't work. Can I get a device that works please Google?
Google Is sending me a Band New Pixel 2 XL. I received a refurbished device with a dead speaker and the guy I called was like( I have good news) your getting a Brand New Phone. I still had to put a hold for $919 on my card for the device and now I'm hopping I don't receive another crappy device.
