Unable to enable USB File Transfer or connect with ADB. - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I'm on DP3 and had flashed elementalx with temp TWRP. Now I am unable to get file transfer nor ADB to pull up on my phone. I'm unable to upgrade to DP4 due to custom kernel, and can't use ADB to restore boot.

Try different USB A to USB C cables and ports for starters, and make sure your platform-tools are up to date. You may have to factory reset to get pc to phone connection. And even then there are no guarantees. ?

I was able to get it working. I turned of USB debugging and back on and now it connected.
Phew!

help!No Rom installed and unable to push ROM using ADB as USB debugging is off

Soft bricked(?) my phone. I've got no ROM installed and No ROM/backup on my SD card.my laptop doesnt detect my phone even after re-installing USB device driver (error MTP USB device).
Now I want to use ADB Sideload to push a ROM into my SD card in recovery.
Unfortunately it seems like USB Debugging isn't turned on, it can't find my device.
Is there anyway to turn it on in recovery/ TWRP? any other way to bring back to life?

Thanks, problem is USB debugging is not enabled :crying:
I think your problem is incorrect drivers, uninstall your current driver and install this

Lost transfer via USB

When I plug in my USB cable, it only charges, it no loner allows me to transfer files to my Desktop/Laptop. Nothing shows up on my computer.
When I start my LG PC software it never connects.
How can I set it so when my USB cable is plugged it allows me to transfer files and browse the drive.
I have looked everywhere and the options given does not work on this phone. Is there a setting I may have accidentally disabled??
have you ever connect via USB successful

Have you ever connect via USB successful?
Remove all LG Software, TOOLS, USB Drivers, and Install latest LG USB driver 3.11
Go device manager to check if all LG device is installed properly, You should find mtp device in the device manager.

How did u go back to stock if u couldnt connect through usb i have the same problem thanx for any help i was able to load a different rom that i had on my flash card thats all bust still no luck
someone help please id like to go back to stock any rom I install I cannot connect through use just charge
I've had this happen on my old phone occasionally, and found I had to turn the phone completely off (not just reboot) and back on to get the computer to recognize the phone again.
I can power off, take out battery, flash new rom ,factory reset ,wipe cache ,dalvic everything and no matter what computer I connect it to it just charges its not a matter of having driver its like the computer doesn't even know I plugged something in. happened after I flashed I think it was dragon rom not even sure or maybe after I updated the ota while rooted or is it you cant ota with cwm/twrp installed
lost transfer via usb
can you tellme what you have done to be able to flash a new rom without having the ability to transfer files via usb thanx still haven't figured anything out. just saw a post about it being enable through the kernel can anyone help with this

Rain causing s6 to malfunction... How to retrieve pictures through odin?

I think my s6 is almost dead. Yesterday, I hiked in the rain and the screen started malfunctioning. Today the only thing I can get it to do is odin download mode. I flashed twrp so that still works, but I can't seem to boot to twrp.
Is there any way I can retrieve files, specifically the pictures from yesterday, while in download mode? Adb doesn't work. Just hoping for some way.
Ok, I have been able to get booted to TWRP, but adb doesn't connect from there, with device not being found?

From within TWRP, can you try going to Mount and then Enable MTP? See if this enables your computer to see the phone. You may have to toggle Enable MTP on and off a few times.
If you can get this working, use TWRP to make a full backup and copy that to your PC.

Big problem

This may be a huge one. Someone accidently resetted my phone. Now i had to start from the start menu. When I connect the wifi after it gets stuck on "checking for updates." So then I wanted to reinstall the rom from via twrp. Now I find out im stuck on this because I have no back up and no extra roms to flash. So I tried to connect to my pc but my phone has issues with connecting on pc. It does not even show up on device manager. No unknown devices no exclamation point. Only way I know it connected is when I disconnect it makes a disconnect sound. Any help? I tried fastboot its a no go, adb sideload just loops on loading, and just recovery and it does not work. Any help please I need this fixed asap.
try to connect on usb2 port. I have similar problems when connected to usb 3 port on laptop or desktop.

Delete all the installed drivers relating to the phone and then connect the phone. Necessary drivers will be installed. If not solved, try another PC, cable, USB port etc.
usbdeview from nirsoft might help you to clean your driver.
When you connect your phone to your computer, is it on fastboot or on recovery ?
You should grab adb and fastboot driver (i'll upload them if needed), go to fastboot and plug your phone.
If you type from command line fastboot devices you should see your devices. If not, driver issue.
If you see it, then flash the official recovery : fastboot flash PathToRecovery\name_of_recovery.img, then sideload latest OB through OP recovery.
I don't know if its the faster option, but its easy as f*ck with that way to come back nearly stock. After that, you could flash twrp and the rom you want.

Get back to stock and don't use mod, or use a stable ROM. Nitrogen 9.0 ROM havn't got issue with sound.

PC does not recognize my phone anymore

I flashed a custom rom and now my PC does not recognize my phone. I can't transfer files or fastboot to the phone from the PC.
I wanted to go back to stock, but when I went to flash-all, it stalls at waiting for device.
Not sure what happened, any help solving this would be appreciated.
It's not the drivers in the PC, it's something that happened within the phone.

You should also try a different A-C cable. Do you still have a custom recovery or stock? If so you can use adb to push/pull files to the phone and try "update via adb". Have you done a full factory reset?
It's not the cable, I've a few different ones. I can't use adb, because the PC doesn't recognize that Mr phone is connected.
