Perhaps this questions appears a couple of time, but I do not find an answer:
Some Apps are the opinion I am using a jailbreaked or rooted mobile. My mobile device is for shure not rooted or something.
What I did:
I have the good old oneplus one. Until last Friday it was working with the last stock CM 13.1. And with this it was working since years.
But I want to have an update to the latest release, to go technically on latest OS. So I installed LineageOS nightly 15.1.
First of all: great work. It is running fluidly with no problems.
Only some issues with rooting?!
My OpO is not rooted. Some apps I need for my daily work can not be installed like the ServiceNow. Some other apps say: no support, because of a rooted mobile like Mercedes me.
I tried to root it for afterwards to unroot. But our companies policy app immediately factory resets my phone after installing SuperSU. From this issue I know, it is not rooted. I checked with RootChrcker as well: unrooted.
Why some specific apps mean: rooted?

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Official LineageOS thread that's specific to your device for member guidance and support.
(Though, the title states 14.1, the threads title just wasn't changed yet to reflect the 15.1.)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3543489
If all else fails, and you don't receive any responses from the above thread, you can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2731638
Just an FYI... In general, all of the Official LineageOS builds are not rooted by default. This is why the Lineage Team provides flashable Root Addons located at the bottom of the device listing on their downloads page that's labeled "Extras".
SuperSU and others alike are just optional choices and should not be flashed together.
Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
@Lowrider39, did you flahsed addonsu zip?
In you have, please go to the Setting >> Developer Options >> Root Access.
Select 'Apps and ADB' if you haven't done so.
Maybe this helps. (this whined me, too for a while).

Well to do it, it's very simple, if you're on Windows just follow up this link:

So in order to make it simply for the user i released this zip containing an automate script so just run Zenfone2Root.sh into a terminal window and leave it work.

Stock android on ZF2
Hi.
Thank you very much for the super informative post. I am going to buy a ZF2 and I want to check if it is possible to run stock Android in this device. This is more an option for me and not a necessity. I just do not like customizations such as ZenUI, HTC Sense, TouchWiz and so. I have chosen this model for the price vs functionality otherwise I know that I could go for a Nexus model or a Motorola device that run on near stock android.
Thank you again.
P. S. I have never rooted any of my android devices so far. I am not familiar with the process and I always have the fear that I may brick my device.

Install instructions
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/bacon/install
Upgrade from official Lineage OS 14.1 possible but as usual clean install is better. Good time to wipe that phone clean.
Please update TWRP to the latest. If you have this device and don't know how to install please follow above procedure.
If you have device encryption enabled, consider removing as its a bit touch and go. As usual always have a full backup and separate copy of your data/pictures.
And the caveat you are responsible for what you do with your device applies and no one else is responsible for your action. People may be able to help if you ask kindly.
Official channel released finally on the 18th of July 2018.
Super effort by Devs specially jrior001, so please donate if you can.
PS I am just making this thread as there is none and it was released atleast 6 days ago and in no way taking any credit for the ROM or the work done by DEVS.

Is that cyanogenmods website some kind of fan site? It doesn't look official.
Kernel
Is anybody working on the included Kernel?
The background of my question is that I am experiencing spontaneous reboots when physically leaving a Wi-Fi connection, particularly my home Wi-Fi.
This defect was present in LineageOS 14.1 as well. There I could solve the problem completely by installing the latest Franco Kernel. However, in LineageOS 15.1 the Franco Kernel leads to very frequent soft reboots, like 5 in one hour, so I am now back on the stock kernel.
The only workaround I know is to disable Wi-Fi before leaving a Wi-Fi area, then re-enabling it.
Before other users jump in and state that they don't have this defect, not everybody has it. It is not clear under which conditions the defect shows up. It may depend on certain apps being present. But obviously it is not the apps' fault, as the fact proves that the Franco Kernel resolved it in LineageOS 14.1. Not to mention that no app has the right to reboot the system.

THREAD CLOSED
I have only been using lineageOS for a couple weeks and wanted to get advice before I call it bugs:
1) i could not flash 20181023 after a wipe, nor one or two nightly before that. i had to go back to 20181002 and then apply 20181023 on top of it without wiping.
2) i could not root using addonsu-15.1-arm64-signed.zip on 20181023. i had used it on 20181002 somewhat successfully, however, something had happened more than once which un-rooted it.
observation: TWRP 3.2.3.1 seems to require a passcode now or else /sdcard/ looks jumbled (likely encrypted). i don't recall this happening until this load.
related question: any good advice about general handling of A/B partition style phone? before i used other custom ROMs with samsung s6 which didn't have that and seems to make everything harder.

Hello,
I don't find the answer to my questions on the internet... I wished to know for how long is 15.1 version supported (I don't have any updates for several months, it only suggests to upgrade to 16 version...). Can I keep it even if there are no updates ? Second question : if I install 16 version it will erase all my apps (my Fairphone is encrypted too). Thank you for your answers because it is difficult to have any from LineageOs website...

I can only answer in "General" terms...
Answer to your 1st Question:
Yes. One of my devices actually has LineageOS 13.0 still and another has LineageOS 14.1 as well. I, personally, only use the older versions on those for testing purposes but, they do work for me.
Just remember, when it comes to using the older LineageOS versions, your not going to actively receive any security updates (and such) to the firmware. Even though I use the older versions myself, I've got to keep this in mind as well.
Answer to your 2nd Question:
Yes/No/Maybe. It's a challenge to explain but, I'll do what I can.
Yes, you can Upgrade/Migrate from one "Official" LineageOS build to an upgraded build. The LineageOS 16.0 is "supposed to" work this way by design.
Regarding the encryption, I'm not stating that this is for all devices but, I've seen allot of members having various issues when performing LineageOS Upgrades on encrypted devices.
So, before you do so, be sure to backup whatever you can and, as always, keep in mind to "hope for the best but, prepare for the worse".
It's "only" recommended/encouraged to perform a fresh installation when upgrading to a newer Android version for a few reasons (ie... Incompatible Android Apps and such).
I hope I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Hi all. Please forgive me if this is not the appropriate place for my question, and kindly point me to where. I tried to look for a microg targeted thread and couldn't seem to find one. I'm also kind of a newbie in general, so you may have to be a little verbose with some of your responses. I made sure to read microg's official docs on how to install over lineage.
My question comes in two parts; 1. Do I actually need to do this for my specific case? and 2. For my specific case, is there anything specific in which their official instructions might not cover.
So here is what I keep referring to as "my specific case".
My device is a OnePlus 7 Pro. I had LinageOS with microg 17 on it. Things worked great. Including microg. I recently upgraded to Lineage 18, as per their official documentation for how to upgrade major versions. Well, I was so focused on not bricking my device because I was so nervous. As I said, I'm a newbie. Much of this is out of my comfort zone. I wasn't paying attention to the fact I was using lineage's zip/img/rom that I was installing, and not the microg one specifically. I had many other complications with the upgrade and was tracking all of those down. Now, things seem to generally work ok, but there are many apps giving me issues because of no google play services. At first, some would just alert me, and then keep working. So I just kinda wrote it off, and figured this was just an issue with version 18 or something. They had an OTA update the other day, and now those apps just flat out won't work anymore. At first it didn't even cross my mind that it was because I installed the img from lineage's repos, and not microg's specifically. Because I still have the microg app installed. I will note, from reading the "Post-install" section in microg's documentation, I don't see the two plug-ins which they say are installed by default. MozillaNlpBackend and NominatimNlpBackend. So I feel like this is because I installed the non-microg img.
As I started searching around for how to fix my issue, it's basically led me to the point of my first question. "Do I actually need to re-install the microg specific img?" I think the answer is Yes. But I just wanted to confirm since I still have the microg settings app, and for a little while, some apps worked prior to this last upgrade.
So, if the answer is yes to my first question. My second question, is there anything specific I need to do since I kinda fudged up the upgrade? Do I need to uninstall microg settings? I noticed in microg's install instructions under the "Migration from LineageOS" section. They mention things such as "you can't directely flash our ROM on top of the official LineageOS while keeping your data". So does this mean in my case I can't keep my data? And there is a specific note for "Unofficial builds" of all the apps that I had such as F-droid, and microG's apps (GmsCore, GsfProxy, FakeStore and mapsv1 API). I had these, but they were from the official lineage 17 with microg I had prior to the upgrade. So those are not "Unofficial" right? As well as their mention of "GApps". Does that mean everything I installed through Aurora Store?
I basically want to know if there is any other "gotchya's" or "in your case, you should x y z" type of questions. I think it's clear that since I did just OTA update I probably need to wait on the next release as per their install instructions. Right? Let me know if there is any other details I can provide in order to help better answer my questions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for your response @kurtn. So I guess you are saying, I do in fact need to flash. Correct? And I don't need to uninstall the microg settings app? Also, do I need to prepare for backing up and saving my personal data even though their documentation says it can't carry it over? And I don't need to wait for the next version even though there documentation says I do? I'm sorry for the newbie questions. I just want to make sure my assumptions are correct. TY
I just fixed my issue, and tested pretty much everything. It all seems to be fixed and working as expected. I will answer my question in case it helps someone else.
1. Do I actually need to do this for my specific case? Yes
2. For my specific case, is there anything specific in which their official instructions might not cover. No, not really.
I waited for a newer release before flashing the microG version of LineageOS. I'm not sure if it was required or not. But since their official documentation said to, I did. Then I followed their official instructions, and everything worked flawlessly. I've tested all apps and services; phone calls, texts, etc. It all seems to be working just fine.
@kurtn was not wrong. All I needed to do was flash the microG version of LineageOS. But since I was hesitant, and wanted confirmation specifically a few details like; Do I need to backup personal data? Do I need to wait for the next release? etc. I held off on attempting it.
Hopefully that helps someone.
