Fingerprint unlock question - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

I recently acquired S9+. I use fingerprint to unlock the phone, but I am seeing that the phone unlocks directly from the AOD if I touch the fingerprint scanner.
In S7, I had to press the power key from AOD to get to lock screen and then touch the fingerprint scanner. This prevented accidental unlocks. S9+ unlocks without pressing the power key or going to the unlock screen. This is causing me lot of trouble as the phone unlocks if I even touch the fingerprint scanner.
Any way to force pressing the power key to get to unlock screen and then touch the fingerprint scanner to unlock?
Thanks,
Arun

Currently there is no other way, coming from the S7 myself it also took some time getting used to. However, in the long run I've found it convenient as simply placing my finger on the scanner unlocks the phone which is faster compared to pressing the home key on the S7.

Can I use fingerprint to unlock phone when it is in "swipe screen to unlock" status?

Can I use fingerprint to unlock phone when it is in "swipe screen to unlock" status?
When the phone is password locked, I need to use fingerprint to unlock it, but when it was only turned off briefly, I have to swipe the screen to unlock it. This is annoying as you have to decide how to unlock the phone depending on its status. Can I set the phone up so that I can always use fingerprint to unlock even if it is in "swipe screen to unlock" status?
Not that I've seen. It's really frustrating because like you said, you have to check first 'can i swipe?' when you get used to using your fingerprint. I found it easiest to ALWAYS require fingerprint, as soon as the screen shuts off, it needs a fingerprint to bring it back. I've gotten used to just holding my finger over the home button when I press it to immediately unlock it. Might be your best bet as well.

That is probably the best work around so far. Thanks.

How to screen off with touching only fingerprint scanner

Hi guys, i have a question if possible such a thing locking screen with touching finger print sensor
I was using on M7 and locking screen " Screen Lock and Off" app with sliding home button through main screen withouth touching power button
On 10 thanks to HTC we dont have to push power button for turn on the device but i am not sure or i didnt figure out yet how to turn off screen wwith fingerprint.
im looking forward for your precious comments.

How too fingerprint

Is it possible to unlock phone with touching fingerprint sensor only while screen is off?. All my other phones had accept this one. I don't mean pushing button in or double tapping the screen to wake up first.
nope
You can push the power button and hold your thumb stationary on the press down to wake and unlock at the same time.
But no you can't wake the phone without issuing a wake command (power button or double tap touchscreen).
I hoped there would a be an app to assign the unlock function or a magisk module. My. Lenovo p2 and htc 10 both unlocked out of the box

Anything we can flash to make fingerprint sensor only work when button is pressed?

Is there anything that we can install in our phone to make the fingerprint sensor only work when the button is pressed? Sort of like apple's "touch to unlock" feature on their iphones where they press their home button to unlock with touch id. Its really annoying that the sensor keeps trying to scan for fingerprints even though it's in my pocket, the "detect if in pocket" mode in my RR Rom doesn't help much and only decreases the unlock time.

Same issue for me too with pixel experience 9.0. There is no option for in pocket detection. Any solution?

Unlocking phone without the power button

I am considering buying S20 plus.
Can you unlock the phone with just the fingerprint scanner or do you need to first press the power button? If both have to be pressed what is the point of not having the fingerprint scanner on the power button?
