OLD:
you want a free SIM Unlock right? well tough ****, there's no such thing as a free lunch... if you want to get something, you need to give something.
1) contributing forum members... PM me for a free unlock with your IMEI & email. - if you have an account that has a) existed for a good few months and b) you actually contribute to the site (technical wizardy, or general helpfulness - meaning, you actually POST frequently), then just drop me a message and it's yours.
2) everyone else (new accounts/unregistered/few posts, this means you): Get SIM unlocked Here
for 1), it's not just restricted to XDA-Devs members, MoDaCo also counts, and no, I'm not in ****ing partnership with Paul; if you're a good little MoDaCo member, PM me there.
if you're eligible for a free unlock, you get 1, that's it... this works well for me because it solves the problem of ****ers ripping it off for eBay in bulk whilst at the same time ensuring the good people of the community can optionally donate, and thirdly, I can get something for my efforts too.
Free Security Unlock (not SIM)
for the more advanced users, who are interested in such stuff, soon we will also release a free CID and Security Unlocker (not SIM).
MOD EDIT:
The re-locker has been posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3299516&postcount=492

Good reminder
Very clear for me :
Life is not free and that's not Olipro or Cmonex fault, hard work and talent must be rewarded for sure.
Do a real hard work as Olipro does, in every domain you are good to, don't complain for nothing, you'll be rewarded, simple as this for me.
Thanks Olipro for the cheapest and best Diamond unlocker available !
That's the bottom line.
Re
I agree with Olipro!
Thank you olipro for you help in this comunity.
I'm waiting for my diamond that comes from france, locked to SFR.
When it arrives, can i send you a PM? I think i'm a good user in this forum
i've bought the unlocker, but i've a little question : is this flasher erasing all the memory of my phone ? and can i update radio rom after unlock ?

you mean "will it hard reset me" - no, it will not Hard-reset you.
and once you have unlocked, you are free to flash whatever you wish forevermore.
ok ! thanks a lot for your hard work !
great work
you are the man
You certainly are amazing at all this...
My diamond is a SIM free import, but I would like to have the opportunity to unlock my upgraded "UK Orange" Diamond - of thats what I choose in November.
I bookmark this thread until then.
thank you so much!
good work!
Thank you so much for this. Done an amazing job. Wish this thread had appeared 2 days ago, before I paid htccode.com for an unlock code. Hey, no matter, lol. When the security unlocker etc comes available, could you please keep me in mind for this.
I hope that I have been of help to a number of people in this forum and will continue to help if and when I can. Unfortunately I can't do any of the stuff that you guys can. Wish I could but no matter.
Thanks again......
Thanks olipro, for creating a gem of a software
@OliPro
Will CID/Security Unlocking allow (as side effect) for running protected firmware on unporotected phones and wise versa, perhaps? AKA regional protection.

CID? no
Security unlocking? possible but untested.
the regional protection is retarded crap anyway, a mere hindrance at best if you want to spend the time "fixing" it out of the OS.
hard work should always deserve rewards. if you cant afford it then stop whinging. im a student, so money is always a issue to me, but thats no reason to use a stolen piece of software which the author has requested on several occasions and sites not to use it. i respect this and have not used this. luckily i dont need to unlock yet as my contract is on orange and i managed to get the phone cheap. its the principle! life is not free!

Couple of questions for you if you do not mind me asking:
Are you aware that CID/security/HSPL unlocking is "hack" over copyrighted, proprietary code by ODM and others? There are so many factors that we have to take into consideration... it is all grey area....

I have been reading the forums for some time now in hopes to someday root one my phones. I started reading about a year ago and finally rooted last week.
Root went great then yesterday I flashed my first Rom and oh crap anything and everything went wrong because I missed one step. Now what??? Read Read Read.
After a lot of reading I found my answers and fixed my phone, I couldn't of done it without you so Thank You for all the walk throughs tips and guides.
Successfully running CyanogenMod on my T-Mobile G2x Rooted with Super One Click.
Again BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!
You are so welcome
You waited a year before taking the plunge, and you still messed up?? No offense. I just find that rather odd. Not saying anything so don't be mad. We all make mistakes. Take care. =)
I too want to say thanks to all you great gents& Ladies her for your time & patience with this old broad. I haven't been on here for very long but I find that I am way out of my league with you bunch. In a lot of cases trying to read what you reply of post is like trying to read Greek & I can barley read Enlish & I am a Canuck. I have loved my Streak but as I rarely use it anymore for anything more than a phone & the problems it has given me, I have put my sim & SD cards back into my BB and will just use it in my latter years. I may upgrade to a Galaxy but I don't know just now. So anyway I have put the Streak up for sale here in the to sell forum as well as the accesories forum & next week or so I will put it on Ebay, Kikijji or Craigslist. Again thanks for all the advice I have placed this forum into my favorites so I have a place to come to if I need expert electronic advice. Cheers Angela aka fysty-1 Dodds.

I see you have decided to step out of lurking and perhaps become part of the community, that is very noble cause indeed.
Feel free to roam the forums you guys frequent and help other members with questions or issues that you once had, this way we can help perpetuate the greatness of the forum and save developers' time answering things so they spend it developing.
That may be the best way to show your gratitude.

Hi all,
I too wish to thank the forum's contributors, without them my phone would not be rooted etc...........still it can be a 'daunting task' wading thru the 'info', especially when one does not have any background in this stuff........I literally need step by step instructions....
A Big Thank yous
I have brought AOSP to H932 successfully. Now it is time for H931 and H933. For this i need 1 tester for each device.
My requirements for testing Active member, must already have TWRP installed, use Telegram, speaks english and be somewhat tech savvy. I dont want to have to explain how to flash a rom properly.
DO NOT PM ME ASKING TO TEST.
Reply to this thread with your device model number and a brief reason why i should pick you in the following format:
MODEL: <Your model number>
Word: <The 27th + your post number word on this post>
Reason: <Why you want me to pick you>
This will help me gauge your level of following directions.

Ha! But when one person counts the words and answers, won't others just copy that? For different results, not easily copied...
Word = the word in post #1 represented by 27 + their post number. Would be different for each reply.
You're still going to get PMs.

Hi,
Awesome news! I'll give it a try.
MODEL: H931(currently running stock us998(20a))
Word: for(27th) Post :8
Reason: I am interested in learning and contributing. I started with the samsung infuse4g(cm7), note 3, moved to 1+1, then v20 & v30. I followed all the directions to getting all the devices mentioned above Bootloader unlocked, Installing recovery, rooting, and providing logs when necessary.

Right so, the point of the questions aren't to test your technical acumen, but to see if you're capable of following directions. You've contradicted your self and have proven you think the rules don't apply to you. To each his own but testing is a privilege and comes at the low low cost of just following the very first direction @me2151 gives you.

Hey gents,
I apologise if my approach to your original request/directions, @me2151, came across as flippant. I reread my post and can see how the tone of my wording could be seen as if it were flippant, mocking etc and again I apologise that was absolutely not my intention. My 10month old was being a handful and it was probably not the best of time for me to be posting. Either way, I understand what you are trying to do re; a quick test of ability to follow directions and I was not mocking it nor was I suggesting that the rules should not apply to me. ( @BrandonB1218). I just don't accept the rules IF one of the rules means i need to pass a test to display my ability to 'follow' directions. I am sorry I just don't want to do that and it is my prerogative and @ BrandonB1218 this expresses no contradicting of any sort; the past 20 years of my 'working' life have been entirely centered around both following and giving directions and I would be more than happy to prove my ability in concreto i.e; coding, flashing compiling whatever else is needed. But @me2151 this is your show man and you can run it as you see fit, and so I am humbly just going to retract my request to be a tester.
Again please accept my apologies, I didn't mean any disrespect. Thanks for working on AOSP -- I am a long-time fan and would love to see it running on our V30 models. I am on my motorola for a couple of days now just to check out some AOSP pie magic but will surely back to my V30 in no time as it's the most trustworthy device I have.
Oh hell yeah. You do this man and you'll have my utmost respect. I'm not willing to test, though I do meet the requirements. I'd like to keep my phone bug free, as I use it quite often, and rely on it being reliable. If we can get a stable AOSP, I'll be happy as a vegan in a field.
Godspeed.
I remember you @me2151 frok the v20 forums glad to see ya here. And no dont own a h931 justyt saying hi.

if this is at least partially what you can work with, maybe not now but on some other point of time, grab me, i'm here
good luck with these two devices! from what i've seen of your work, you will do it :good:

i wanna do it because obviously i have become sick of playboy models coming and going over the years i think i'll try beta testing.
my word is [now] .... do u count I (eye) like[[ I ]]went to the mall as a word? EYYYYE did
I've never seen such a big community and a lot of custom ROMs like this. OK, it is a good, cheap phone. But a lot of people cannot buy it and have to choose another cheaper one.
So @ all Devs here: Don't forget us!!!
Have a look at Mi Max 3 for example, or others. There is not only one custom ROM since half a year! It is frustrating...frustrating not have the money for God-Phone PocoF1 and have to use only MIUI! Please look and help us...
Donate some phones on developers and they might start working on it on free time. They can't just buy and work on a phone without a good number of user base to start with. Oh yes, emphasis on term 'free time' because they do it as free extra work without forcing you to pay and most of them work on multiple devices.
Poco F1 had a good start because it was marketed as custom development friendly and sponsored by Poco Gobal itself. They started giving out phones to known developers voted by users.
If in the first place you were prioritizing custom development as criteria for new phone, then you should had waited for Poco to get cheaper or just saved more money. Mi Max series were never that attractive to developers to start with.

That's because the devs here are willing to spend their free time on development. And if you want custom development for your device, request it to the respective XDA channel. This channel is for Poco F1.
To be honest I see the major point for such big community is the 3 day bootloader unlock. Obviusly apart from the giveaway Poco themeselves promoted and even the community has bought throught donations phones for some great developers who started their work blind building... It's a community builded thanks to the company efforts in making it possible (it's not like they do it perfectly but the results are here to be seen.)
Even if your community bought today a mi max 3 for some great developers there would be at least 3 months away from trying the roms in their own devices...
I don't know man... if you look up for mi max 3 on internet prices are around 220€ and today i have seen offers for pocohone at 250€. While I'm sorry for you I strongly recommend to look up to the community a phone gets before buying it.
Have a good day sir.

agreed i buy phones that i know will have good development, not buy and then moan about it on the internet afterwards when there are no custom roms available.
lesson learnt the hard way
Don't demand, contribute. You should start developing for your device so that other devs can join in. If you don't know how to do so, then learn. If you want an active dev community, check the forums before buying a phone.
Remember, we get custom kernels and ROMs because the devs want to share the product of their hobby. They can keep it all for themselves and it's still totally fine. Please have some respect.
Lecterr said:
No, sorry , I won't. I can do what I prefer to do, what I think it is right, not you! There are a lot of things I don't like on Pocophone (missing L1, ugly notch, plastic all over, smaller display and accu) I never buy a Xiaomi phone in future, thats it!

Well thats your money and what you do with it it's your decision but how can we expect someone to spend their free time without some sort of motivation to do so ? in Poco case the company contacted all popular devs and send then free phones to kick start it .
One should always search for "Popular devices of particular year". Many tech websites including xda and gsmarena(dot)com display most popular devices on their websites. Also while making a buying decision always check how many devices sold or reviewed on shopping websites. This way you eliminate lesser popular phones and arrive at conclusion.:good:
All the best.:fingers-crossed:
lesson learned after buying a phone without active community makes your phone lonely and it was a long time ago. and now before buying new phone i always check if community is active on that kind model then i buy.. too bad this is your first time experiencing that.
Why don't you learn how to cook and port roms, and do so for your phone?
There are a lot of devs who said they will cook for my phone but nothing happend...THIS is frustrating a lot of people here...

Come on, nobody ever asked you to buy that phone or to use custom rom. Maybe next time you'd better wait before buying a phone.

Please STOP creating a redundant thread and more so post in the wrong section. If you want custom roms for your device please post in your device section. I suggest you read the forum rules before you post and always request for something you desire in the correct device specific section.
Please be respectful to the community when you post and never post in a demanding way. I have cleaned up the thread, Edited the Tittle and moved it to the Mi Max 3 Section, Please continue the discussion here on a positive note and request for developer assistance.
Help us keep the forum clean and do not clutter the other device sections with irrelevant threads. If you still want to know why Poco F1 is a desired choice you can check the existing discussions and contribute towards a healthy discussion and outlook.
I also recommend you do some research before making your purchase decision for your next device. Some Developer Friendly Devices that i can suggest are OnePlus & Pixel Devices. Just in case you dont like them or find them expensive, you can wait for the Poco F2 to be announced later this year.
Thank you for your consideration,

You are one of a few people, who don"t understand the message...never mind...
poco screen not big enough. and cpu overkill for alot of things.
also max users prefer to have a phone no need to charge up to 2 days with mid/heavy usage.
a phone without battery is useless. max series just too good for travelling and gaming.
then again...EU has saved Max3 with their rom all we need just an undervolt kernel with more cpu governor options.
My advice to the one who checks Xda before deciding to buy a mobile should never consider buying from Vivo/Iqoo(only if you don't care 'bout modding). There is no hope of development for the brand who choose the path of not giving the bootloader unlock option and not sharing the kernel.
Not every OS is perfect, even the famous Oxygen OS is not perfect that why there is lots of tweaks and mods developed for them. So, its a dead end road for Iqoo. I too was a OnePlus user but because of there pricing in the later phone i look for a little cheaper phone with a good hardware and i am stuck on Iqoo....... In short, if you love modding, Magisk etc. then never think of Iqoo/Vivo
Even the Xda community should better consider of not giving a chance of opening a forum simply because its a waste of resource for those that doesn't have a bootloader unlock options and kernel release
My poco is dead and i am seriously considering this device because ( I too was an OnePlus user but because of there pricing in the later phone i look for a little cheaper phone with a good hardware ). now i dont know what to buy.
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Depend on users need and requirement. So, hard to say what you are into.

agreed.. i too was going to buy this.. and was searching for some community developed roms.. shocked to find such a powerful device with great potential have it's bootloader locked... i went with realme x2 pro.. the development is not that great.. but it's there atleast.
