2.5 D Nexus 5 Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I don't post very often but I just got my 2.5 D screen protector from www.dx.com (SKU 292915) and it's great so I'll do a review of it.

First of all, the packaging. The packaging is above average for stuff from DX so that's nice. On the front there's just information about the product with 2 typos.

Inside the package you'll find an alcohol cloth, a normal cloth, 3 guide stickers for the hinge method, a dust removal sticker and of course the screen protector itself, which is packed separately.
The screen protector itself feels just like real glass. According to DX the protector is 0.2mm thick so that's pretty thin. The separate packaging of the protector has some Chinese and English application instructions, which are not very easy to read, but it's also not hard to do so. The instructions are calling the protector a "GLAS.t R" (like the Spigen one) instead of just a protector.
The cutouts are very well placed, if not perfectly. The protector is almost covering the entire screen, just a gap of 0.5mm so that you can use it with some cases. It works well with my hard plastic Nillkin case. Application goes very easy; clean phone, place it, lock in place with guide stickers, take the plastic layer off, lay it on your screen, touch the middle, press any other bubbles out.
There are some grey lines under the top left corner. If I push that corner, they will go away for a short amount of time. I don't know what it is, but it isn't dust.
The touch screen is not affected by the protector and I don't notice a difference in brightness; the screen is just as clear as without the protector on it.
This protector doesn't scratch easily, it survived a real life key test!

In the past I have reviewed a lot of different Trident cases for smartphones and tablets, and was always pleased with their design, build quality, and very reasonable pricing (make sure to check both their www.tridentcase.com website for special offers as well as Amazon where you can always find a great deal). That's why I was excited to get an opportunity to review their cases for the new Galaxy Note 4. Separated into different series, these offer various levels of protection depending on your needs. Here, I'm going to look at their latest Aegis Series (everyday protection) and Cyclops Series (tough protection) cases for Note 4.
Designed for everyday protection, those familiar with previous Aegis cases for other phones won't find too many surprises in here. It consists of two layers, inner shock-absorbing silicone layer and outer hardened PC plastic shell. In addition, it also comes with a screen protector. According to a description of the features on the back of the packaging box, this case actually meets or exceeds Military standards (MIL-STD-810F for vibration and drop), and it sure feels like it. Inner silicone layer has nice textured thicker back padding and also a thicker all around bumper with enhanced corner protection. The screen bumper is raised so there shouldn't be any issues placing the phone face down without touching the screen. It also has attached port covers for micro-usb and headphone ports. I do have to mention because this is silicone material there is a little bit of pull around the edges. But even while being a silicone I haven't noticed it turning into lint magnet, also it worked great with my tempered glass screen protector, and it felt very pocket friendly being easy in'n'out of the pocket. Outer PC shell wraps around the back with extra layer of protection and with side grips to keep inner shell from sliding off. Also, it has a dust cover for the speaker port. Both shells interconnect and wrap around Note 4 to give it a solid feel. In addition to covering headphone, micro-usb, and speaker ports, power/volume buttons are covered as well and have a very nice tactile feedback response. The camera/flash is one common opening, and with border lining of inner silicone layer it makes sure your don't get flash reflection which often a problem with light color cases where pictures get overexposed.
When you think about Tough Protection cases, lightweight and slim doesn't jump into your mind. Lightweight and slim doesn't go together with a case which has been build to meet or exceed MIL-STD810F standard by independent testing, including a requirement to survive 26 drops onto concrete from 4ft height. Well, I hope your phone/case will never have to experience this kind of a torture because guys at Trident already verified it for you. So let's take a closer look at how this Cyclops monster looks!
Once you take it out of the box, you can't help but notice how lightweight it feels. With a very slim profile it will not add too much bulk to your Note 4, while offering a protection on a level of "defender". But don't let the lightweight and slim design fool you. The case is made out of two fused layers of TPE and PC material to provide a serious shock-absorbing impact protection with extra inner corner padding. The power and volume buttons are fully covered while still having a nice tactile response. The same with headphone and micro-usb ports, covered by a flexible flap of TPE layer extension. Every other port opening has a precise cutout and perfect alignment with Note 4. You can also find a skid pad around the whole back perimeter to prevent case from sliding off any surface. But the best feature of the case is integrated screen protector. It's permanently attached to the outer frame piece that goes on top and interlocks with a case. Once locked, it creates a solid seal with virtually no movement of the phone inside of the case. The screen protector has a cutout for home button, top speaker, and front camera. It worked great even with my tempered glass screen protector and I didn't notice any issues with screen touch sensitivity, though this screen protector had a bit of a flex. Obviously, it's not a waterproof case, but you will be able to use your phone in some mild rain and wind with a help of this extra seal protection. There is also a loop opening in the lower corner to attach a lanyard for extra security while using your phone outdoors.

Ordered the Anccer, will post how it fits when it arrives which will probably be in 10 days because I'm in Europe. Gigantic phone doesn't need a thick case to make it more gigantic.

Just FYI this is incorrect. I finally got mine today and it came with the clear case. Blue international 4GB version from USA Amazon.
That said, the clear case is just flush with the camera lens which=bad.
keep it off whatever surface the phone is put down on.
The Anncer case I got is about the thinnest case I have EVER had for a phone, its like... maybe 2 sheets of paper thin plastic and no edge to protect the screen. Not really good for anything except protecting the metal body of the phone from scuffs and putting a lip around the camera lens.

Well I found a winner for the Play and its not one of these 3 but it is on Amazon.

Fits and looks just like if Spigen made it. Really nice. Just a touch of a riased lip above the camera lens, lip around the screen so you can put it face down. Fits really well but not so tight its almost impossible to get on and off like some TPU cases. Buttons all still work and fingerprint reader is not an issue. Back is a nice texture so its not super slippery. I fell like this will protect the phone whereas with the Anccer "case" I basically had to treat the phone like I would if there was no case on it.

was looking for sturdy cover for my phone since my last phone fell from 3 feet height and broke the screen. This cover is neither flexible nor hard. Just the right combination of both. Slim, can easily go in your jeans pocket. It has around 1 mm protection around screen and small bump on back for camera. Edges has small cross from inside which is nothing but extra cushioning for corners. I would definitely recommend it for honor play.

^That's the exact same one I posted. Works well, probably the best TPU case for them but the Ancerr is good if you want "naked phone" feel/size but still have some protection.

One thing is for certain, do not use the back cover included in the box. The metal rear camera bump and a bit of the lens got scratched with the original cover on. The cover do not provide adequate protection for the bump.

I'm using whitestone dome currently, although there is one on Amazon for ten to fifteen dollars or so, that is pretty good also. They used to have one for the 8 pro I believe in/from uk if I'm not mistaken. The dome is hard to beat if you can spare the additional cost. I believe I paid $40 for two and I recommend just putting the glass on without the included alignment tray using the camera cutout to line up.

Whitestone is usually the best but they're pricey. Ultimate Shield are good also, not quite so pricey.
Foluu is popular, my favourite is the Mocolo LOCA screen protector from either AliExpress or Amazon, good quality and a decent price. Just be careful with the glue when you are applying it and try your best not to get the glue in either the speakers or switches, it can be easily removed with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) if you do though.

I love it! No bubbles or lint getting trapped under the statically charged screen protector (caused by the pulling away of the protective film, and it seems to attract dust and lint). No more glare. Better visibility in the sun. No reduction in brightness. No screen fingerprints nor smudges. And way better feel, like running your finger over paper, just the right amount of mechanical feel that you simply do not get with tempered glass screens.
Fingerprint sensor works as well as before.

​I purchased it on amazon, and it is far from the most expensive screen protectors out there, while not being the dollar store bargain bin price range.
You do get a lot for your money and value. You receive two screen protectors with three liquid adhesive viles. You also get the standard wipe pads, cleaners, and stickers to remove lint as well as... a) rubber pads in different thicknesses that you stick on the bottom of the phone (opposite the camera bulge) to level the phone flat. b) clear adhesive strips that you apply to protect the ear piece and the side buttons in case you squeeze any clear adhesives into those areas (*which shouldn't happen if you follow my rule of thumb below). c) UV light adaptor to cure the liquid adhesive (you need a usb c cable and power supply).
