Review of Trident Aegis S4 case with lots of pics!!!

Having tested Aegis for N2, I was a little surprised about design change for S4 where instead of a dual injected layer (two layers combined) they went back to 2 separate layers design. After testing this case with my display model of S4, I quickly realized - this is a good change! Let me start first by actually taking a note of the packaging box Aegis came in. I just think it's totally awesome how this company embraced the image of Trident and different mythological creatures for every case in their series, and how it gets reflected even in the packaging cardboard box it comes in. Of course, the display package looks cool too. In addition to the case, Trident also included a screen protector and a pocket catalog with all of their cases with installation instructions for each. Obviously I didn't install the screen protector, but it doesn't feel flimsy like some of those cheap ebay ones. Something that I found very useful, their protective layer which you peel off before installation has a guiding dotted line which makes it very helpful with alignment during the install. I think it's a nice touch to include a bonus free screen protector considering not too many case company do that anymore.
Now to the case itself. It consists of two layers, inner shock-absorbing silicone layer and outer hardened PC plastic shell. Aegis series was always considered for casual use, but this S4 version stepped it up to a very decent rugged use. According to Trident website, this case actually meets Military standards (MIL-STD-810F for vibration and drop), and it sure feels like it. Inner silicone layer has nice textured thicker back padding and also a thicker all around bumper with enhanced corner protection. The screen bumper is raised so there shouldn't be any issues placing the phone down on the screen. It also has attached port covers for micro-usb and headphone ports. I do have to mention because this is silicone material there is some pull around the edges. At the same time, I have not noticed it being lint magnet, and it felt pocket friendly. Outer PC shell wraps around the back with extra top/bottom protection and 4 side grips to keep inner shell from sliding off. Also, it has a dust cover for the speaker. Both shells interconnect with a precision and wrap around S4 to give a solid protection. In addition to covering headphone, micro-usb, and speaker ports, power/volume buttons are covered as well and have a very nice tactile feedback feel. The camera/flash is one common opening, and with border lining of inner silicone layers it makes sure your don't get flash reflection which often a problem on white cases where pictures get overexposed.
Overall its a very impressive case which should be considered for both casual and outdoor use, and will definitely give you a piece of mind if you drop the phone. Not to mention that it also comes in 5 different colors. What makes it totally insane is that on Amazon you can get it now for about $17 shipped, and that includes screen protector!!!

maybe i'm a little paranoid but i'm currently using this case right now with the spigen glas tr slim and it seems like the case could be popped off inadvertantly. it doesn't seem to fit that snug and i can pull back the rubber parts on the right and left easily.

after a month i think it's a pretty decent case. i had to buy a headphone adapter to get any headphone to fit inside the jack though.

Review of Yoobao S4 cases with lots of pics!!!

Since I just posted my review for Yoobao Thunder 13000 mAh external battery and some N2 cases (if interested you can check it out from my sig link), I wanted to point out these are genuine Yoobao products, not some cheap ebay/HK knock offs. Kevikev is the only US authorized Yoobao dealer/distributor which also services their product under warranty. Just wanted to bring this to attention because I got very confused when I was looking for Thunder battery and found a bunch of lookalike knockoffs. I received 3 cases and will do a review in order of how I took pictures of each below. First one is a unique combination of TPU bumper molded with semi-transparent matte finish PC material on the back. This hybrid case is very light. Unlike some slim cases that offer only plastic back to scratch protect the battery cover, this one has a decent TPU bumper that snuggly wraps around the phone without too much pull. It offers a nice protection lip so you can place your phone face done without worrying of scratching your display or screen protector. The PC material seems to be hard and looks like scratch resistant (I tried to scratch it with my nail lol!!!). All the ports are perfectly aligned with a nice rounded cutouts. Power and volume buttons are covered, and because its a TPU material those are easy to press and very responsive. The case itself is easy in-and-out of your pocket, will not stick inside Overall it gives you a decent every day all around protection. Plus, as a bonus you get a nice screen protector which doesn't feel flimsy at all (better than cheap stuff you get from ebay), and it comes with a generous size micro-fiber cleaning cloth.
Next one, is a super slim plastic case with a very nice rubbery finish. This one is for those who are after improving a grip of their naked phone and also protecting your battery cover from being scratched. It doesn't offer full wrap around protection of top/bottom of the phone, so you have to be very careful since you can't rely on this case providing an adequate drop protection. It's mostly to keep it super slim and to give you a better handling of the phone to avoid dropping it. As you can see, all the port openings align perfectly. Power and volume buttons are open and easy to access. This case also comes with a screen protector of a decent quality and a very generous micro-fiber cloth which I'm sure a lot of people will find useful even after installation of sp.
The third case is a slim leather flip case that will not add any bulk to your phone while offering a very elegant folio casing and a nice screen protection of your display. That is why no screen protector is included with this one. Considering low price (while still a high quality), it's obviously not a real grain leather, but it's very nice to the touch and has both rich feel and look. The plastic part of the case where you insert the phone has a very nice tight fit that insures your phone will not fall out if you drop it by accident. For that purpose, the inner part of the case where the phone goes actually has a very soft rubbery thin cushion layer to absorb any shock and also to protect your battery cover from being scratched. You get a perfect camera/flash opening and speaker opening, and also cutout to easily access power and volume buttons. The inner side of the flap cover has a soft textured material to protect your display and to avoid any scratches. It also has a speaker cutout so you can use your phone without any obstruction even with a flap closed. Unlike other folio cases, this one doesn't allow flipping of the cover to prop the phone in landscape position. Obviously it's not an intention of this folio case because the goal is to keep it super slim without any additional bulk.
Pretty much all three cases are built for different type of use. These are also come in different colors so you can accessorize properly, just check out the link above for other options. I believe these are new products, so kevikev still updating its catalog because the last time I checked hybrid TPU/PC case wasn't listed in there yet. But you can always email them and ask. Cases are very reasonably priced, and this is the ONLY place in US where you get authorized Yoobao stuff (authorized by Yoobao itself, I did check their website actually) and also it will be protected by their warranty.

In the past I have reviewed a lot of different Trident cases for smartphones and tablets, and was always pleased with their design, build quality, and very reasonable pricing (make sure to check both their www.tridentcase.com website for special offers as well as Amazon where you can always find a great deal). That's why I was excited to get an opportunity to review their cases for the new Galaxy Note 4. Separated into different series, these offer various levels of protection depending on your needs. Here, I'm going to look at their latest Aegis Series (everyday protection) and Cyclops Series (tough protection) cases for Note 4.
Designed for everyday protection, those familiar with previous Aegis cases for other phones won't find too many surprises in here. It consists of two layers, inner shock-absorbing silicone layer and outer hardened PC plastic shell. In addition, it also comes with a screen protector. According to a description of the features on the back of the packaging box, this case actually meets or exceeds Military standards (MIL-STD-810F for vibration and drop), and it sure feels like it. But even while being a silicone I haven't noticed it turning into lint magnet, also it worked great with my tempered glass screen protector, and it felt very pocket friendly being easy in'n'out of the pocket. Outer PC shell wraps around the back with extra layer of protection and with side grips to keep inner shell from sliding off. Also, it has a dust cover for the speaker port. Both shells interconnect and wrap around Note 4 to give it a solid feel. In addition to covering headphone, micro-usb, and speaker ports, power/volume buttons are covered as well and have a very nice tactile feedback response. The camera/flash is one common opening, and with border lining of inner silicone layer it makes sure your don't get flash reflection which often a problem with light color cases where pictures get overexposed.
When you think about Tough Protection cases, lightweight and slim doesn't jump into your mind. Lightweight and slim doesn't go together with a case which has been build to meet or exceed MIL-STD810F standard by independent testing, including a requirement to survive 26 drops onto concrete from 4ft height. Well, I hope your phone/case will never have to experience this kind of a torture because guys at Trident already verified it for you. So let's take a closer look at how this Cyclops monster looks!
Once you take it out of the box, you can't help but notice how lightweight it feels. With a very slim profile it will not add too much bulk to your Note 4, while offering a protection on a level of "defender". But don't let the lightweight and slim design fool you. The case is made out of two fused layers of TPE and PC material to provide a serious shock-absorbing impact protection with extra inner corner padding. The power and volume buttons are fully covered while still having a nice tactile response. The same with headphone and micro-usb ports, covered by a flexible flap of TPE layer extension. Every other port opening has a precise cutout and perfect alignment with Note 4. You can also find a skid pad around the whole back perimeter to prevent case from sliding off any surface. But the best feature of the case is integrated screen protector. It's permanently attached to the outer frame piece that goes on top and interlocks with a case. Once locked, it creates a solid seal with virtually no movement of the phone inside of the case. The screen protector has a cutout for home button, top speaker, and front camera. It worked great even with my tempered glass screen protector and I didn't notice any issues with screen touch sensitivity, though this screen protector had a bit of a flex. Obviously, it's not a waterproof case, but you will be able to use your phone in some mild rain and wind with a help of this extra seal protection. There is also a loop opening in the lower corner to attach a lanyard for extra security while using your phone outdoors.

Ordered the Anccer, will post how it fits when it arrives which will probably be in 10 days because I'm in Europe. Gigantic phone doesn't need a thick case to make it more gigantic.

Just FYI this is incorrect. I finally got mine today and it came with the clear case. Blue international 4GB version from USA Amazon.
That said, the clear case is just flush with the camera lens which=bad.
keep it off whatever surface the phone is put down on.
The Anncer case I got is about the thinnest case I have EVER had for a phone, its like... maybe 2 sheets of paper thin plastic and no edge to protect the screen. Not really good for anything except protecting the metal body of the phone from scuffs and putting a lip around the camera lens.

Well I found a winner for the Play and its not one of these 3 but it is on Amazon.

Fits and looks just like if Spigen made it. Really nice. Just a touch of a riased lip above the camera lens, lip around the screen so you can put it face down. Fits really well but not so tight its almost impossible to get on and off like some TPU cases. Buttons all still work and fingerprint reader is not an issue. Back is a nice texture so its not super slippery. I fell like this will protect the phone whereas with the Anccer "case" I basically had to treat the phone like I would if there was no case on it.

was looking for sturdy cover for my phone since my last phone fell from 3 feet height and broke the screen. This cover is neither flexible nor hard. Just the right combination of both. Slim, can easily go in your jeans pocket. It has around 1 mm protection around screen and small bump on back for camera. Edges has small cross from inside which is nothing but extra cushioning for corners. I would definitely recommend it for honor play.

^That's the exact same one I posted. Works well, probably the best TPU case for them but the Ancerr is good if you want "naked phone" feel/size but still have some protection.

One thing is for certain, do not use the back cover included in the box. The metal rear camera bump and a bit of the lens got scratched with the original cover on. The cover do not provide adequate protection for the bump.

Question Case Review: Caseborne vs Torras vs Cresee

I have been searching for a good case for this phone and these are my experiences so far.
First i purchased the cresee

It was cheap and just a stop gap until i found a better case honestly. It provided hinge protection but that was about it. After a few days the adhesive came off and then the front panel wouldn't stay on. Scratch that one. I also really wanted a kickstand so I added one. It just snagged every time I put it in my pocket. Without the added kickstand, it was . 775" thick, with it as pictured it is . 973" thick, 6.2" tall and 2.86" wide

I then decided to try the Torras Marsclimber kickstand case. It advertised no adhesive and looked quite nice.

It definitely had a premium feel and the kickstand was quite rigid. The case was a little slippery to feel and didn't offer much in the way of one hand grip option. It did not give any hinge protection. Aside from that, the case was slim and looked nice. Until about 2 weeks in, when the front started popping off regularly. It would fall off all the time. I wasn't ready to give up on it just yet and contacted the manufacturer. They did not respond in a week. I sent that case back for a refund. ( Which is why i didn't post pictures). Wireless charging was a little spotty, but I could usually find a position to charge it.
Next up I got the Caseborne

I posted pictures of what the case comes with. It has two screen protectors for the front and also has 2 sets of extra adhesive strips just in case. The case comes with the adhesive already on the case. I tried putting the case on without removing the adhesive backing just to see how it might do without them and I honestly don't think it needs them. The way the phone fits in the case it seems fairly captive. It was nice that they included extras though
Install wasn't too hard though it was fairly firm going in. Largest dimensions on this case on my phone were 6.25" tall, 3.405" wide and . 93" thick. I'm 5'8" and with about 175. The phone is bulky in this case, but fits in my pockets fine.
It definitely seems protective. I have dropped it from table height to concrete 3 times in this case with no issues. I didn't install the screen protector, but there is a lip of . 095" which seems more than adequate.
In daily use it has a lot of features I like so far. This is the s pen case, and the s pen holder gives me something to grip onto as in the picture. I wear medium gloves and this phone is tough to grip with a single hand with no case of the other cases, but this works very well. I probably had to hook my finger into the kickstand to good it with one hand. The s pen bump also works as a small kickstand. The actual kickstand stands the phone up nearly vertical.
Wireless charging has not been an issue. The buttons for volume function normally and there has been no issue with the power button/finger print scanner being inaccessible as I've read about on some other cases. I have to say aside from the size, I am very satisfied with this case. It is definitely larger than the Torras, but not prohibitively so, and it does give much more protection.
