I've a Xperia ZL n my sister coincidently brought a Z as well, I compare my phone to her phone, my ZL is more laggy than hers...strange...both our phones got the same UI, firmware n tech specs...I'm wondering...
Both on Android 4.1.2
Both with nth installed(new)
Both running on 10.1.A.1.434
Both with MBE2 on
Both with xLoud on
Both with Clear Phase on
Both with Developer Options n USB Debugging on
Both with animations on 1x
Both hv password
Both with GPS n aGPS on
Both with a 32GB Class 10 MicroSDHC card installed
Both with SIM card installed n with data traffic on all time
Are there any way to optimize my ZL to be as smooth as Z without rooting?
Both without task killer
I noticed the ZL displayed on the Sony Center is smoother than my ZL. Weird. I never tried this but perhaps you can either do full wipe or install a clean ROM, try various region of ROM. One might be smoother than the other
Do I need to unlock the bootloader or being rooted to flash official ROM?

No you dont need to unlock the bootloader to flash stock rom. Just repair your phone by pc suit or flash stock firmware by flashtool.

Plz, where can i find recovery for 4.2.2?
Info: C6503 BL unlocked rooted

What purpose you chase when unlocking bootloader? If you want to try non original Sony, AOSP based ROM, then you can flash specific kernel with built in recovery. Other way there is no need to unlock BL, because you can modify stock Sony FTF what way you want.
Do you backup TA first (for back to locked BL)?

It wont.
What roms are you looking to install? For the ZL the kernel is in the same image as recovery, so you need one for ether the one for Sony based roms or AOSP based roms.
At least for AOSP use the following.

I'm on rooted 4.2.2 stock ROM and dual recovery by [NUT] works for me!

Don't forget to save drm keys before you unlock your bootloader or Bravia Engine will stop working !!!
Use latest flashtool to save your keys.. http://androxyde.github.io/

btw.. does someone know if there's a way to split kernel partition on the ZL?
we could have one for the kernel and one for recovery..
Hey guys. I bought an xperia m single sim (c1905) a week ago and rooted as soon as i got it. I wanted more so i tried to unlock the bootloader, but realised that my bl was not unlockable. I read on a few sites online that i can still flash 4.2.2 firmware on my phone. Is this possible with a locked bl? What are the risks involved? If so, is there a download.link for the latest 4.2.2 firmware?
1 more thing, is there any cwm recovery for locked bl?
Thank you guys for your help

Yup you can flash the 4.2.2 firmware of Xperia M Dual.
It wont void your warranty as its stock xperia rom only.
You may re flash SS M firmware whenever needed.
No Hou cant have CWM in a locked Bootloader Device.
You can use flash gordan instead to flash zips.

Hi there,
Is there a way to unlock this bootloader? Bootloader unlock allowed: NO
I've a C1905 with 4.1.2 (15.1.C.1.17), i've notification of update to 15.1.C.2.8...
thks
No there is no way of doing it, your one of many unlucky people with hard locked bootloaders. Plus that's the old 4.1 update and it's now on 4.3 so update to 15.1.c.2.8 then after that update to 4.3

Sad to say , you cant unlock your bootloader
Well your not really unlucky because Sony is keeping updates for our beloved Xperia M. Just be contented to it .
Thks u all for the quick response...
I'll have to stick with the SE ROM.... i loved costum roms in my old Nexus S...
Can i root the device with any version? or its better to do that before updating?

Well , it's almost impossible because Sony Devices don't have any recovery . So you have to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery inorder to install Custom ROM :good:
