I've a Xperia ZL n my sister coincidently brought a Z as well, I compare my phone to her phone, my ZL is more laggy than hers...strange...both our phones got the same UI, firmware n tech specs...I'm wondering...
Both on Android 4.1.2
Both with nth installed(new)
Both running on 10.1.A.1.434
Both with MBE2 on
Both with xLoud on
Both with Clear Phase on
Both with Developer Options n USB Debugging on
Both with animations on 1x
Both hv password
Both with GPS n aGPS on
Both with a 32GB Class 10 MicroSDHC card installed
Both with SIM card installed n with data traffic on all time
Are there any way to optimize my ZL to be as smooth as Z without rooting?
Both without task killer
I noticed the ZL displayed on the Sony Center is smoother than my ZL. Weird. I never tried this but perhaps you can either do full wipe or install a clean ROM, try various region of ROM. One might be smoother than the other
Do I need to unlock the bootloader or being rooted to flash official ROM?

No you dont need to unlock the bootloader to flash stock rom. Just repair your phone by pc suit or flash stock firmware by flashtool.
Firmware : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196718

i have 2 friends using Xperia S, while they have updated it to .55 build officially, i cant do it, update center in mobile and in pc shows i have the latest software.
i have .45 build
stock ICS ROM and locked BL
just rooted using binarys script
but the problem was same even before rooting..
You probably must be having different customization than they have. .55 firmware has not been released for every customization.
Or did you ever flash a firmware on your phone ? You bought it new ?
If you wish, you can manually flash a .55 firmware on your phone

my just concern is why cant i update my phone. i fear this doesnt happen during JB rollout.
Don't worry it will roll out to every phone. If not flash tool is your friend.

and if not how can i get it ? Root + CWM ? I don't want to unlock bootloader anyway heh heh
The leaked Xperia S jb fw by Doomlord has clear audio, so I think it will be there in the ion fw.
And of course you can install clear audio, search the themes and apps section for that and u dont need an unlock bootloader for that.

Hello my friends,
Can anyone help me to get the tablet ui on my xperia zl, please? (status bar on bottom of screen).
I already tried with the xposed module :xposed tablet ui but it didn't work on my phone. But it did on my lenovo tablet.

The ZL is a phone, how do you expect to work with a tablet UI?
Sent from my C6506 using xda app-developers app
Because I did it with my old Samsung Galaxy S2 with a custom ROM.

Hm, if xposed framework and modules don't work you can consider installing paranoid android. If I remember correctly I saw it in dev section. But I'm not sure if it is still supported.
In Paranoid you can change everything, maybe also the UI.
Sony Xperia ZL C6503, rooted, 4.2.2 Stock
Flash PAC Rom and you will have Tablet UI
Best ZL Rom so far..

I would love to, believe me, but unfortunately my ZL is bootloader Locked, so I cannot install any custom ROMS. When Xposed framework was announced, it saved my life
BTW, Do you guys know if I can send my BL-locked phone to Sony and they can unlock it for me?
Thank you in advanced!
No, they won't unlock it, because they didn't lock it. It's the carrier who locks the bootloader.
As far as I know no one managed to get his unlockable bootloader unlocked yet.

I have a unlocked c6506 from Claro and it is still running 4.1 with 10.1.1.A.1.253 baseband. Claro has still not provided 4.2. and 4.3 updates plus there is too much bloatware on the device. Can someone guide me to load a stock ROM (4.3) since my bootloader is locked.

Just flash any C6506 4.3 ftf using flashtool.

I can directly flash a 4.3 FTF without going to 4.2 ? If yes, can you share a link to the stock ROM for c6506.

According to GSM Arena, Xperia S and SL seems to be the same. They got the same chipset, same GPU and pretty much the same hardware. Only a few minor things seems to differ.
But I find nothing about Xperia N (Misspelling? Typo?)
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_sl-4894.php
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_s-4369.php
But I cannot promise it would work. On a logical level, these devices can differ. Even to a grade where a kernel might not be able to fully initiate. (With a kernel panic as a result)
Addresses, busses, partitioning scheme , flash ICs, and other stuff can differ. It could be a completely different board, even if the same chipset, GPU and other hardware is the same.
The only real way to be sure would be to compare these two devices side by side on the inside.
Is it worth the hassle?
One could try to flash a S ROM on the SL device, or the other way around, but make sure you can recover from a paniced kernel first.
One way to recover from a such state would be opening the device, and hardwire JTAG connections, if there are any.
I don't have too much experience recovering from seemingly bricked devices. different devices behave differently. Some have a simple preboot mode which one can use the USB connection to transfer firmwares over. Even when a kernel is malfunctioning completely. Others just become hard bricked, requiring using JTAG connections or similar hard wiring to recover.
Ok then cn u suggest a good ROM fr xperia SL alone? I mean if u cn tell it would b helpful. I tried to find one but couldn't. If not then ill hv to try doing what u said.

You went too complicated Mate. Xperia S and Xperia SL are exacty same, bar some software changes. No need to perform jtag and all to restore, You just need to flash back the stock firmware.

Yes I'm absoulutely sure. I own a Xperia SL and have been used all of the Xperia S ROM's on it. Mokee is good, just use a stable build, not a nightly/release one. You can Google for it. But for installing a Mokee ROM, You need to unlock Your bootloader since You require a custom kernel.
Sorry I m kinda new to routing tell me about custom kernel ?? I have already rooted my device by using flashtool.

First copy the ROM.zip and gapps for that ROM to phone.
Then on PC, extract the boot.img from ROM.zip.
Connect Your phone to PC powered on. Using fastboot, flash the boot.img to Your phone with following commands:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
You will find fastboot.exe in "C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib"or where ever You installed the flashtool.
Then Your phone will have a twrp installed. Just boot into twrp, and flash the ROM!
Don't forget to wipe 'data','cache','dalvik cache', 'system' before You flash the ROM.
Then after flashing ROM, just wipe 'cache' and 'dalvik cache' and flash the gapps.
Important: This will delete all Your apps. But Your videos, images, music will be safe as it is stored in 'sdcard'.
DON'T WIPE 'sdcard' AT ALL.
i Downloaded the zip file of mokee ROM but couldnt find gapps file . Is it possible that its inbuilt ?

1.7 is not minimum, it is the maximum frequency Our processor can handle. And taking it to 1.9 would kill the battery and phone or render it highly unstable. You won't feel a lag at 1.5 ghz at all, trust Me. Been using at 1.5ghz, the phone doesn't feel slow at all and definitley faster than stock ROM's..
