I'm really wanting to get this sprint touch on the verizon network. I've loaded a verizon rom on the phone and a verizon PRL what i'm wanting to know is what to do next. Verizon won't add the esn to their database or do anything for me. I'm wondering if I change to esn number of the touch to the phone I have now on my verizon account will it work?
Note: I walked into the verizon store asking about this and they told me it would never work because sprint uses SIM cards and Verizon doesn't. I about laughed so hard in her face. Then she told me she wasn't gonna debate it.

Yes it will. But you AFAIK the verizon radio firmware won't let you supercid to change the ESN.
Besides, there are ways to get verizon to add the ESN (head over to ppcgeeks, and do some searching). Also... I have not yet gotten the roaming indicator to work on my sprint HTC touch. It always says "preferred network", and displays the roam warnings on incoming calls.

Yeah I got verizon to add the esn with no trouble.

So rumors have been popping up about being able to activate the VZW nexus on Sprint..
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/1...vate-verizon-galaxy-nexus-on-the-now-network/
I just went through the chat with two tech people, and a phone call with one other, here's the result:
You: I heard that Sprint is agreeing to activate the Verizon Galaxy Nexus on their network, is there any truth to that? I really want the phone but love sprint service and don't want to change providers.
Vincent K.: I am sorry, it's not possible to activate the any other provider phone in Sprint.
You: So... if I got the phone and called up with the ESN (clean) and went to activate it, they wouldn't allow me to?
You: Even if I had changed the settings on the phone
Vincent K.: Yes.
Vincent K.: The system doesn't allow to other provider phone activate in Sprint.
You: Alright
Vincent K.: Had it been possible, I would have done it for you.
You: Good to know
So I guess that really puts the rumor to rest, ey? Unless you work for Sprint or have someone that works for Sprint do it for you I don't think they will even consider it.
Shouldn't this be in the General Section seeing as this isn't Development? Mod please move.

Thanks for confirming what we've already known for years. Care to explain your thought process in deciding that this should be posted in the development sub-forum?
Why is this in development and I haven't heard this rumor. Seems very far fetched.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
There was a chat log that accompanied the rumor that indicated the representative was positive that it could be activated.
Given that tech, plus your chat log, I'm led to believe neither of these techs can be taken at face value. Someone needs to actually try doing it by calling Sprint or going into a store for us to get any solid indication, and even then I'm sure there are reps that won't even try and tell you that they can't, even if it's actually possible.
I actually switched from Sprint to get the Gnex. I'm a little perplexed since I'm not sure how good this phone would be stuck @ 3g speeds on Sprint.
you can swap sprint / virgin mobile phones, but you cannot swap sprint / verizon phones.
reason being is the sublock/msl programming is hard coded into each phone and not directly swappable between the 2 networks.
Sorry to the devs of the GNX Forum, just so used to posting/browsing in the Development section over at Evo3D that I hit it habitually
Thanks for moving!
I highly doubt this is going to happen.

if the radio's where compatable then technically it couple be possible, althrough no LTE till sprint activates it late last year. Just a case of them activating it as the is no sim card in CDMA if am wrong correct me.
Well i know we used to ESN clone the xv6700 and xv6800 and swap between sprint and vzw. I know alot of guys frown at ESN cloning but all im saying is we used to do it and use them on Sprint as well as use Sprint radio softwares on the verizon phones
So I'm trying to help a friend get the HTC evo on their straight talk plan. Ive looked at the boost mobile and other tutorials to get it on verizon. But hoping someone could help out. It doesn't need a sim card or anything. Any help would be much appreciated!
I thought Straight Talk was Walmart's service through AT&T, which would mean it's GSM and requires a SIM card....
Yea that's what I thought but I was told it was through Verizon also, and the phone my friend is currently using has no sim card in it. Ive never had that service so I don't know for sure tho. Maybe someone could provide more insight..?

Well...it may be roaming on part of Verizon, but I believe its T-Mobile.
I almost signed up with them at my local Walmart but talked myself out of it.
At mine it didn't sell, so that location discontinued it then came back, then stopped again. Last I saw it was back again. Lol
I'm about sure its a GSM based phone service. Best bet, call the local Walmart and see what phones their actually selling for it. That will tell you what it uses for sure.

I work at Walmart and actually just transferred out of electronics. Straight runs off of cdma and GSM. They just came out with two android phones that run off of verizon so it probably is possible but I can't help you with how to do it

Thanks for confirming! Hoping someone will no a little bit about getting it converted.

Actually, there are services on eBay that will flash the Evo from Sprint to Straight Talk to utilize the Verizon network. If our phones had sim cards, we could just buy a ATT or T Mobile sim card from Straight Talk, change a few settings and be on our way. As it stands with Sprint's Evo, most flashing services require that you ship the phone off (check seller feedback and comments 1st!) while others will flash via remote log in on your computer. Verizon network for $45 per month... can't beat it. My rooted phone was shipped off and is being flashed now. I will try to update all once my phone has been returned (3g speeds, etc).
Edit: Got my phone back today. Paid ~ $79.00 with no need to buy a donor phone. Gentleman was very courteous and my phone was returned in excellent condition. I'm digging the Verizon service.

I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 that I got from a friend. He was with Sprint but went to another carrier so he unlocked the phone and used it with them. Now I want to use it on my Sprint acct but when I tried to activate it Sprint told me the the ESN is not in their database anymore so they can't activate it. The ESN does not show up as bad, they just say they have no record of this ESN at all.
It this point I'm not sure what to do. This phone is a better phone (it's 32 gb, mine is 16) and it's in better shape than mine so I would settle on cloning my ESN to this phone but I have not been able to find any way to do that.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can activate this phone?
Thanks!

well sprint doesn't have the ESN in there database cause it was literally moved to the other company......unless they went to a sub company of sprint cause then it would still be alright
I have never done BYOD, can someone give me a rundown of how to proceed, and how its worked for you on the pixel (not yet showing as a viable device on their BYOD page!)
i would love to be able to activate without dealing with a store (from my account page) is that possible?
I did a chat with Sprint rep. You need a SIM card that you can either order and self-activate, or go in-store. I was told no charge for the SIM card in-store but $30 activation fee. The UPC for the SIM you need is: 019962040146
Personally, I'm considering moving to Fi since my Sprint service has been poor last 4-5 months due to alleged "tower improvements", just not sure if I want to give up $60 unlimited everything. ?

I was about to say "if you already have a nano SIM, you should be able to just swap it out into your new phone"
But did a search on sprint's site and came across this - https://www.sprint.com/landings/howtoactivate/index.html?id16=swap |All&question_box=swap |All
My SIM is sitting and waiting for my darn phone to ship!! I don't think it will be a problem. I would move to Fi, but I just couldn't afford it at this time.
nightmare with Sprint. Got my phone this afternoon and have been to 3 Sprint stores, a Best Buy, and a Best Buy Mobile.......CANNOT ACTIVATE ON SPRINT!! I purchased the correct SIM Card, but when the Rep goes to activate it, I get 2 answers as to why I cannot activate it: #1 (from the less informed) the device is not compatible with Sprint. I was given this answer at 2 sprint stores, and over the phone when I called to activate the device & SIM Card. #2 (at a Corporate Sprint Store) They have an email that walks them through how to activate the Pixel. FOllowing the steps, he got an error stating that the SKU is assigned to a PREPAID phone and it needs to be reassigned to POSTPAY before it can activate. He called some number, on the phone for about 20 minutes and handed my the phone and said the ladt was no help, try calling Customer Care. So, 3.5 hours into my trying to activate I call customer care who does nothing, transfer to tech support - NOTHING and says its not a compatible device. I asked to speak to supervisor who then basically told me to go to the store and they can fix it. when I explained I have been to 3 stores and they cannot fix it, he says sorry, I cant do anything over the phone.

Sounds like you were the individual they were talking about when I walked in with my Pixel in hand. I told them I needed a sim and to have it activated. 3 guys were telling me about someone that had just left, who had been there for over an hour, with a SIM they bought at Best Buy, while they were on the phone, talking about it registering as a prepaid phone. I said, "well, just let me buy a sim kit for the nexus 6". They brought it out, said, "we'll give it a shot". They pulled up my account, scanned the SKU on the box, scanned the sim, put it in, and I was out with an activated Pixel within 10 minutes.
I'm not sure what they did wrong with you or the other guy. Did you have your box with you or just the phone?

Just the phone....I wonder what was different. I just got off the phone with Tech support AGAIN! and they confirmed the device is not registered with Sprint yet. NO issue with the Sim. Nice job getting it to work though!! Maybe I can try again tomorrow :crying:

using a sprint mnvo had my own sim activated just fine
I found several pixels in stock at Verizon stores. Will my sprint sim work with it if I bought it for the retail price?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Went to a sprint store where the guy told me I need to order a special SIM for the Pixel, and they expected them later this week. I asked him to try it with the SIM in my LG G5 which he was nice enough to do but he couldn't get it to work, claiming each device maker has it's own SIM (...ok...).
At any rate, when I got back home I went to the site that jj14 posted - sprint.com/landings/howt...=swap%20%7CAll - and tried first with the SIM that was in my old Nexus 6 (didn't work) then again with the one in my LG G5, and that worked! Up and running, making calls, etc. No issues!
Has anyone tried putting a sprint sim in a Verizon pixel?

Got my pixel xl from the Google store, ordered the card from Sprint and activated thru Sprint support chat.
Everything is working great! Best Android phone out there!
I don't know how I missed this thread. I was super curious about why I was experiencing so much trouble getting proper activation.
I activated mine the day I got it, online, with the sim card from my HTC 10. It went through but have me an error after it was activated. So I'm currently using that sim and it works with the exception of minor issues like unable to send SMS over 160 characters and MMS not always behaving. Other than that it works.
I went to 3 stores local and while I'm Richmond VA, I checked a corporate store. No one has the damn sim needed! It completely baffles me. Phone rep is having one mailed to me.. how nice of them
got my phone from the google store, trid switching sims but it didnt work. went to a sprint store and told them i need the "3 in 1" simcard to activate an unlocked phone and a guys which actually knew what he was doing swapped the phones for me. there is no activation fees because you are swapping phones, not activating. its working great so far, however sometimes i have some weird signal drops which happens randomly. anyone experiencing the same?
Went to the store and they did it for me

I activated my pixel XL within 10 minutes as well lol idk why they're giving u the runaround. U just need to go to a corporate store and ask them for the sim card with the last 3 numbers ending in 146 or tell them u need a simple card used for the htc M8 it's the same card that ends in 146.
