Fingerprint scanner not working - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

I am facing this wired issue where my fingerprint scanner is not working even though my phone is encrypted. I have tried multiple roms since this issue had started but it hasn't helped me yet. Hope someone helps?. thanks for reading

I have the same issue I just switched ROMs as usual but this time my fingerprint scanner didn't work I'm on latest resurrection remix 8.1 rom

I have the same issue too. I reinstalled the latest stock Lenovo Rom and the fingerprint sensor started to work again. Unfortunately It stopped working while I was recording my fingerprint for the device locking. With a reboot the sensor restarted to work but now always stop responding after a couple of minutes. Rebooting the phone is the only (temporary) solution. It's not a software problem but (in my case) an hardware problem!
I have to live without fingerprint sensor.

Now i have this issue which my fingerprint seems that it only work on stock rom only and don't work on any other custom rom and that is not norma i used to work on RR 8.1 for two month without any issue it happened when i went for miui pro port rom and was working fine in it and broken when i got back to RR 8.1 again and worked again when i flashed stock rom deodexed so it's only work perfect on stock rom only can any one help me with that ?

My gps is not working. I tried flashing my room twice but still no use.

My gps is not working. Installed Resurrection remix room and then again tried with cm14.1 . But its still not working. The GPS stopped working since I started using fakegps and enabled mock gps. I already removed the app. And flashed the room twice.
Used gps status app to check and found orientation sensor is not working.
Can someone tell me if this can be solved?

Go back to stock ROM, and see if it starts to work again, then try Resurrection Remix or LOS 14.1 again.
I was having the same issue, and yes, going back to stock ROM did work for me. I HATE the last stock ROM though.. the apps, the email program is messed up.. which was what I was using, I love my rom, (slimfast 4.4) but it screwed the gps as well.
I then went back to the slimfast.. just last night.. and although the GPS is working again.. it will not LOCK.. it finds satalites and works.. but never locks.
I think it might be my kernel, but thats another thread.

Had a backup of my stock rom. Installed it. Gps worked. But wasn't accurate. Then I flashed with lineage os 14.1 and the GPS stopped working again.

Then it's a ROM issue, it's LineageOS issue not yours, you can make a bug report at Gerrit if it's official lineage, if not ask the developer to fix it and give him a logcat.
I suggest flashing a stock ROM as the stock ROM will return everything to stock, including modem software.

Fingerprint scanner not working in stock rom

So i got the fingerprint problem and as far as I can tell it must be a software problem, because the scanner works fine in all the non stock Roms such as linageos.
- when i try to use the scanner it says "fingerprint hardware not available"
I want to go back to the stock Rom because of battery life.
Anyone that has Found a solution yet?
Hi.
What room did you install?
compilation?

i'm not quite sure what you mean by "compilation" but i have tried loads of stock roms both 6.0.1 and 7.1.1.
The AOSP roms are the ones with a working fingerprint scanner, both Mokee and Linage works flawless in that aspect, but the battery life on those aren't nearly as good.
I think once you are rooted/unlock boot-loader, the fingerprint sensor will be out of wack. I think what the previous poster meant was if you saved DRM files. so you didnt lose any sony stuff..
If the bootloader is unlocked, this is another problem causing from WIDEVINE, a DRM feature. I'm not sure renaming widevine files to .bak will help removing this problem, since I don't use the fingerprint. But be my guest.

Xposed breaks sensors

Less of a question and more of a confirmation, to anyone using RR based Oreo 8.1 ROMs, when you install Xposed, does your accelerometer, gyroscope, and other sensors stop working?
I ask because my auto-rotation stops working when I install xposed, and to me that's just an annoyance.

It's a known issue, it seems like it happens in all Oreo ROMs. We're still trying to find out the cause.
Ah thank you, I tested nearly every Oreo ROM and they do all seem to have this issue. Exceptions that I found, for anyone interested, OmniRom 8.1 doesn't seem to be affected by Xposed, and AndyYan's AospExtended20180329 build isn't affected either, for some reason, his AospEx20180330 build is affected by Xposed, rotation doesn't work when installed, and even more weird, rotation doesn't work at all with or without exposed in his AospEx20180404 build.

Fingerprint fix/solution for slow or incorrect registering ( oreo)

Hi peeps, i go through the comment section from almost every rom and i see people complaining about the fingerprint not being able to register as fast as stock miui, or u need to put your finger very fast or with lots of pressure on the sensor. Well I solved my problem and i found this posted by a fellow group member here. All u need to do is flash this baseband for the sensor. It works for many but if you do it incorrectly or got some weird stuff going in your phone before and it affected ur phone somehow, don't blame me. just letting everyone know a solution like this exists! It worked with lineage, rr, pixel experience.
1: clean wipe.
2: flash your rom and everything else like gapps, if necessary.
3:Finally flash the file, hopefully it will work like a charm.
here is the link. The credit does not go to me as I did not post the file. so if the link is broken don't complain to me :3

Fingerprint sensor not accurate at all in miui.

Hi everyone
I searched QA and wasn't able to find same problem..
I'm back from Los via flashing full room by mi flasher and finger print does not work.
I can register finger print and and it's no accurate at all unless I revert back to aosp.
Does anyone had the same problem or by any chance find any solution?
I have already tested battery drain solution and fp calibration methods..
Thank you.
I'm on miui 10.0.1 EU and have the same issue. Sometimes I have to try multiple times for it to recognize the fp. Apparently it's an issue with miui 10 itself, hope someone here confirm it.
In my experience the problem is with pocket-mode, the fingerprint-reader is turned on inside your pocket and when the fingerprint-reader hits your leg and incorrectly, register this as an invalid, unlock, after 3 unsuccessful unlock-attempts it instead asks for lock-screenpassword.
On MIUI 10. 8.10.25 it works much better again (not sure if it's completely fixed but)

Well i can assure you it has nothing to do with miui 10
I reverted back to 9.x and same issue exists.
I changed multiple roms including miui custums and aosp based. I flashed persist. Img and tried multiple calibration methods and nothing changed so far and problem exists.

something similar happend to me with miui 9.5, all i had to do was to downgrade to miui 8 and install (via .apk) the fingerprint calibrator (something along those lines) it is only for the TCP? FCP? i dont remember exactly but it doesnt work for the goodix sensor, AND VOILA, i am now on miui10 with no problems on fingerprint (the only thing i am afraid is the arp in miui10 :/ )

Did you downgraded to MIUI 8, used the app to calibrate the FP Sensor and then Upgraded to MIUI 10 Over OTA, or installed the rom tru Recovery? TY!

i just upgraded through OTA MIUI 9.5 (MIUI 10 still was in beta), idk how it is going to happen with the new anti roll-back protection xiaomi forced on MIUI10 , but when i did it in early June it happend exactly like this
1) Waited 3 days to unlock bootloader.
2) downgrade to MIUI 8
3) installed FP calibration app
4) Relock bootloader (for waranty reasons)
sorry for being late to reply i just had no internet
