auto brightness below 11%? - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Mine never goes below 11%. What gives?

It is exactly the same as my previous G6, it never went under 12% on autibrightness. It's because it is calibrated in this way: in order to change it, you have to manually change brightness from 11% to 0% when you're in a dark place without disabling autibrightness. In this way, values will be recalibrated. Another way (less precise) it's to change brightness to a lower value in any moment. Original utibrightness ramp and values will be restored if you turn off and on autibrightness.
I hope I managed to explain what I meant

How not? I can pick any level of brightness even if it's on auto.

I can't change brightness in auto either. I have to first uncheck auto in the notification bar

Just to prove I'm not lying, quick screen record changing brightness while auto on and disabling and enabling it again in order to restore stock auto values. Sorry for bad quality, I can upload it somewhere else if necessary.

I believe you. I seen it in a review video and was excited. Then I noticed mine never worked.

Maybe it isn't available for the US version of the phone

May be as usual our useless US carrier versions doesn't have the option to adjust brightness when it's on auto setting.
Sucks since I can do that on every other Android phone.
Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk

I don't get why carriers take every chance to mess with the software. They mess with the most obscure things. We don't get earbuds with the phone. And now this really strange one of disabling the slider while on auto brightness. And auto brightness is way too dim on this phone.

Controlling leds

Just a couple quick questions. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to:
A - control the color, rate, etc of the front LED. I NEVER see mine as it is. Starting to wonder if mine's broken. It was a feature I was really looking forward to coming from the tiny, invisible LED of the HTC One S, too!
B - flash the camera flash with text messages. I found a way to do it with the Galaxy SIII before I sold it but I don't remember how I did it. Dunno if it'd work on this anyway.
Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!

This will allow you to control the LED:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en
So will this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.lilhermit.android.TrackballAlert&hl=en
Trackball Alert is free, but isn't as feature-full as Light Flow
Use LightFlow. The dev is working on support for the camera flash.

Thanks guys!
I have light flow already, the purchased one, and it doesn't seem to do anything. Even when I try to test the settings, the little window pops up saying the test will begin in 5 seconds, nothing happens. Screen on, screen off, doesn't matter.
Am I doing it wrong?
Hi,
There is also Light Manager: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735331
I use it and it works great.

Are you sure you led is not broken?
I have also a question to the notification LED. If I have no app installed to control it, when should it normally blink?
I never see the LED blinking, but I know it works, because I already tested it with a custom ROM where you could set different options for it.
But I am intereseted when exactly it should blink without modifications? I defentively doesn't blink for emails on my device.

Lightflow already has camera flash notification ability... And it's had it since the Nexus 4 went on the market
If you go into the settings, scroll all the way down, there's a nice big ole button that says CAMERA FLASH LED CONTROL
Turn it on, and you're done, you can configure it in the notification settings.
Surprised so many of you thought it was broken lol, all you had to do was look at that app settings.

Lux Auto Brightness

Has anyone tried this app for Nexus 4 (or at all)? I like the auto brightness feature, but the stock feature always makes the screen a bit dimmer than I like. Or another app that you prefer to do auto brightness?
Just go change the min value of autobrightness and will work just fine if you find it too dim.

just edit your build prop and add this line..

Can you advise good stock settings? Just setting lux up, it tears though my battery. It doesnt seem to have any built in presets. Any way you can add a few to have a little base to start with?

I think the best solution would be like apple's auto brightness. You turn auto brightness on but can still change the brightness and set the "average" brightness higher or lower.
Because I am looking for a auto brightness which is simply a bit brighter in general as the stock auto brightness

Presets make no sense. I'd have to have different ones for different phones, so it'd be a pain to maintain. Just link a couple of brightness values and Lux interpolates the rest.
The battery usage of Lux shouldn't be high at all. I know some Samsung ROMs claim Lux uses a lot of battery, but it's wrong (I think it assumes the light sensor uses more power than it really does). On my Nexus 4 I use 'on wake' mode, which should use next to no battery.

I don't have control over the stock auto brightness which makes a feature like this hard. Linking values in Lux should work fine, especially in ascending mode which favours brighter backlight levels.
Anyone got any decent sample settings for this?
I'm using 0 as -20%
0/-30%, 1/10% and 10000/100% has been working good for me.
I've been tempted to try Lux again but find the free version doesn't really demo the apps potential very well. I'm always skeptical before purchasing apps as the refund window is way too short to test the app in full.
I basically want auto brightness to work how I feel it should, with the brightness not being high when it really shouldn't be very high. Stock auto brightness ALWAYS sets the brightness too high IMO, I'd love the ability to have auto brightness work at the levels I want it to have.
I tried it and put it away... Because when you go below zero your nav bar has still same brightness and won't dim :/

If you read the description of the app in play store, the developer says that you are welcome to try the app for more than 15min. Then if you are not happy with it send him an email and ask for refund.

Auto brightness not agressive

Don't you guys fell the HTC One_M8 auto brightness is not agressive enough. I use the slider fully to the right since it's the best way to see the screen under sunlight. Meaning, we shouldn't have to manually decrease the brightness when it's on auto mode but at night I always have to do it.
What do you guys think? Is there a fix for this?
Cheers

Always on as ambient display

Hello, yesterday I got my LG G6 and it is... Wow! But I hate the missing of the notification led and I don't really understand the always on on a IPS screen. So, is it possible to activate it only if there are notifications?
Inviato dal mio LG-H870 utilizzando Tapatalk
I agree. The 2 biggest issues I have with this phone is no Led notifications and no IR blaster.
As far as the always on display, it's either on or off. But it uses the proximity sensor so when it's in your pocket or laying screen down the always on display turns off.

You can test your setup apart, the profile that is enabling the AOD, just send your self an email to trigger the profile.
You should also test the AOD ON/OFF task. If both work then you should put them together

Use AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD) as substitue for missing notification LED using Tasker
martmarq said:
OK, instead of writing long explanations, I have attached the files "AOD_ON.tsk.xml" and "AOD_OFF.tsk.xml"
These are the Tasker task which turns the AlwaysOnDisplay on and off.
How to import these XML as Tasker task: Read this XDA thread
Now you have to add at least 2 new profiles in Tasker
Profile 1 - Notification
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT - UI - NOTIFICATION ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp
Related task : AOD_ON
You might do the same with other apps. If you leave the owner application empty it works with EVERY notification.
Profile 2 - Notification removed
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT- UI - NOTIFICATION REMOVED ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp
Related task : AOD_OFF
You might do the same with other apps. If you leave the owner application empty it works with EVERY notification.
It works for me on LG G& (H870)
