Has anyone tried this app for Nexus 4 (or at all)? I like the auto brightness feature, but the stock feature always makes the screen a bit dimmer than I like. Or another app that you prefer to do auto brightness?
Just go change the min value of autobrightness and will work just fine if you find it too dim.

You can change the min auto brightness with stock "APP"?
Where?

If you find it please let me know as well i'm also using lux for the same reason but if i could ditch it that would be great.
With root explorer you go to edit the build.prop values. You gotta be rooted.

It highly doubt it. Auto brightness levels are on kernel level.
just edit your build prop and add this line..
Auto Brightness = A bit higher please

Can you advise good stock settings? Just setting lux up, it tears though my battery. It doesnt seem to have any built in presets. Any way you can add a few to have a little base to start with?

I think the best solution would be like apple's auto brightness. You turn auto brightness on but can still change the brightness and set the "average" brightness higher or lower.
Because I am looking for a auto brightness which is simply a bit brighter in general as the stock auto brightness

Presets make no sense. I'd have to have different ones for different phones, so it'd be a pain to maintain. Just link a couple of brightness values and Lux interpolates the rest.
The battery usage of Lux shouldn't be high at all. I know some Samsung ROMs claim Lux uses a lot of battery, but it's wrong (I think it assumes the light sensor uses more power than it really does). On my Nexus 4 I use 'on wake' mode, which should use next to no battery.

I don't have control over the stock auto brightness which makes a feature like this hard. Linking values in Lux should work fine, especially in ascending mode which favours brighter backlight levels.
Anyone got any decent sample settings for this?
I'm using 0 as -20%
0/-30%, 1/10% and 10000/100% has been working good for me.
I've been tempted to try Lux again but find the free version doesn't really demo the apps potential very well. I'm always skeptical before purchasing apps as the refund window is way too short to test the app in full.
I basically want auto brightness to work how I feel it should, with the brightness not being high when it really shouldn't be very high. Stock auto brightness ALWAYS sets the brightness too high IMO, I'd love the ability to have auto brightness work at the levels I want it to have.
I tried it and put it away... Because when you go below zero your nav bar has still same brightness and won't dim :/

If you read the description of the app in play store, the developer says that you are welcome to try the app for more than 15min. Then if you are not happy with it send him an email and ask for refund.

Here is an amazing auto brightness app called LUX. Once a few different ''levels'' have been set it works great, you can lower the brightness to much much lower than 0 ...

I agree. I've been using it for months now.
Can be very confusing until you figure out the getting though.

Just installed it on my T-Mobile SGSIII. It seems to work much better than the useless default auto brightness. The only phone with auto brightness that seems to work well is the Galaxy Nexus

Had it for a few minutes a few months ago and I was very confused by what to do so I gave up
This app works very well, don't even need to set custom brightness, just set it to refresh on wake and your good to go. Will use this until we get the update that the global gs3 got increasing auto brightness slightly.
Thanks this is great!
I was using one called Screen Filter.
Hi, I'm a newbie here, I just wondering is there a way to decrease the lowest brightness limit?
It's quite uncomfortable to use the phone in a completely dark room, even though I've set the lowest brightness.
Thank You
Play store, screen filter or Filter your screen.

Though keep in mind that screen filters degrade the quality of colors and makes you unable to install apps while they're active.

Oh I see. Is there another way to prevent these?
Or is there any MOD? So I do not need to use screen filters...

Thank You
I use "screen filter" every night and ever morning.I have been for over two years now. Under that time I must have updated an app a few times!
There is an app called Night Mode on play store. Its pretty good and its free. Do give it a try..

Just bought Lux from store few days ago and have no experience like this. Only if use night mode the colors look funny to me, but the backlight control is awesome.

yeah you're right, the brightness does not change even though there is extra room for decreasing the brightness on the slider.
Try Elixir 2
I use Elixir to make a filter toggle, I have this toggle within a widget in my homescreen and other one in the statusbar widget (both with the same filter configuration) and it works perfect for me because Elixir allows to add many toggles in the same widget.
So I'm trying to figure some things out on my own, but one of which I cannot figure out.
So whenever my phone's battery reaches 5%, the brightness level is LOCKED onto the lowest possible brightness setting. I can't make it more, or less and it's really annoying.
I'm using stock rooted 4.1.2 with ktoonsz conservative kernel, nothing crazy.

Try using an app to control the brightness. Look for "Screen Adjuster" in the Play store, it may allow you to use a higher brightness at a low battery level.

Most likely to conserve the last bit of energy it has left. So if you can't get to a charger right away, at least you'll have a tiny bit more of screen time

Yeah but during the day, the brightness gets so low that I can barely see it. I'd like to manually control the level of brightness and get rid of this "automatic" thing.

Yes I do. Obviously it's something out of the ordinary or else everyone would be complaining about it and it seems like it's just me.
I would agree with lakesoccer2 n just add an app to see if u can control it that way. One other thing, did you go into settings and click on display and then on brightness to see if the automatic box has a check in it? If you unchecked the box then you should be able to control your brightness. Hope this helps

Thanks for this app. Seems to be overriding system automatic brightness. Benefits are that you can set auto brightness to meet your requirements. Although it doesn't turn off back light keys for me.
I watch TV on my note 2 at night moat nights with pretty much no lighting anywhere near me and the screen just seems to bright sometimes. Is there a way to decrease the values? Does something like this already exist or can someone create something like this? I have seen mods that allow the increase of brightness but none to decrease it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Take a look at Lux Auto Brightness in Market... it has capability to use sub zero brightness for low light viewing
There are also screen filter apps that apply a transparent shade over the screen. I use lux, its great, but can be a pain to set up if you use auto brightness at all.
