hi,
i have a Gio S5660 that i bricked trying to sim unlocking it before putting it on sale.
the device can get into Download mode (no recovery mode though) but Odin 4 doesn't flash anything anymore, tried different roms (stock, moded, froyo, GB) nothing works, Odin 4 says PASS but after rebooting the screen keeps on blinking the ugly Samsung logo.
i tried to make a Heimdall flashing package but when i try to load a rom into the packager i get an error that says no Firmware.xml found.
is it even possible to use Heimdall or other Odin versions to flash a Gio, if so how do u make a package for that ?

After flashing with odin and get in bootloop, press the power button for 10 seconds, after restart press home and power until get in to recovery, there should factory reset and the most important - fix rfs or something, can't remember now exactly, the phone will reboot automaticaly and you have to wait some time to boot.
Which method did you try to unlock it with?
HEllo,
Same problem, keep blinking trying to boot with Samsung white letters.
FR
What, and how EXACTLY did you tried to flash with odin? (Which rom, Onepackage/multipackage, tar/md5...?)
Hello,
Still fighting to bring it into life.
Well the problem began when unlocking with the thread instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204705
Everything seemed to go as expected but...
After that it never rebooted well, still in cycle on www.samsung letters firs screen.
Even so i tried to flash it with ODIN into Stock Rom 2.3.5 and the same problem.
Sometimes i still can have the "Recovery Mode" and flash other versions, i have the PASS message ok, but when reboot... same problem.
And with the Oneclick Unbrick recovery it fails...
Really worried abou this... nice brick!
Thanks to all that are trying to help!
At the beginning of the process it hads the 2.3.3 version locked to Vodafone.
Maybe you just misspoke, but you can't use Odin if your phone is in recovery mode. It has to be in downloading mode.
In my opinion:
1. Boot into recovery (are you using cwm?)
2. Do a factory reset+wipe everything (incl. dalvik cache)
3. Turn off the phone
4. Download the latest ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16979769&postcount=547
(S5660XXKS2)
5. Boot your phone into downloading mode
6. Flash with Odin (this is NOT "One package", you have to put everything in the right spot /boot, phone, etc/)
Hello again,
Yes i mean Download mode, i', flashing with ODIN but "one package Versions" i'm goin to try next your link already downloading.
Even if i can not unbrick it (wich is strange because i still can flash it) i must thans you very much for great cooperation!
Working...
You're welcome. When I bricked my phone, this is how I got it working again. I hope it works for you too.
Keep my posted...
Hello again,
Well just flashed again with ODIN (not One Package) and last firmware (2.3.5) and the report is that at the end i have the PASS confirmation but phone keeps flashing and does not reboot alone as supposed (waited 15 mn).
Unplug USB cable, battery out, battery in, power on and it returns to its "preference": alternates between dark scredn and those White letters saying SAMSUNG... infinite loop.
This is strange, i'm tired of seaching everything and this is not a normal beahaviour for this procediure.
I can follow all the steps... and at the final... same result.
Don't really know what to do next.
Once more, thanks for all!
Fernando
I'm sorry it didn't work. I have one last suggestion. The firmware you just tried to flash has a few md5 files. Rename them to tar, an extract them. The files you will find inside are the ones you can flash with Heimdall (data.rfs, system.rfs, etc).
I can't tell you much more, because I never used it (just googled a bit right now), but you can probably find a few tutorials about the subject.
Hello,
The fight continues and for all that i've read so far i almost sure that someting happend with the EFS partition.
I think that, case possible, the way is trying to flash an EFS new partition.
Someone knoes ho to do that?
Thanks!

please give more information about stuck on logo (ex: logcat)
and dont play with EFS partition. its very dangerious.
it can really bricked your phone
When you can go to recovery mode with your gio you should flash ext4-formatter.zip(download,put on sdcard,go to recovery find `installzip from sdcard` and flash it.
the internal phone memory has to be in ext4 format ,if not you have the above problems.
after flashing you can install a rom.
By the way,i tryed flashing with heimdall-frontend ,i think it can ,but you have to rename it to a .tar gz file it wil be compiled automatic adding it to heimdall,but...than it says
`firmware.xml is missing from the package` , so...you have to ad(make or edit an existing one,and insert it in the package) that file... which contains name rom ed , than it probably works...
What is heimdall?
sort of odin but odin doesnt run on linux, for flashing
SOLUTION!!
Hey , I figured out a while back how to sort this out... Odin works,The reason though it bootloops is just that the \Data and \Cache Partitions are still in Ext4 Format... Stock Rom uses RFS... So The Solution is - After you Flash Your Stock Rom Via Odin, after it says "PASS" , Unplug USB then Reboot into the stock recovery mode by Holding HOME and POWER Button , Then format Cache and Then Wipe Data/Factory Reset (By doing this it formats back to RFS and then it can operate) ... then reboot to system ... And Voila , It works!!!! (Always works for me)... Hope this Helps Just Remember to USE ODIN (Heimdall apparently not Gio Supported)
Galaxy note 2 I317M can’t flash, stuck on Samsung galaxy logo
On this one can’t flash anything
With Odin gave error on modem partition (when start to flash). I can flash the recovery partition
With any box on sboot partition
I can go in download mode but CAN’T go in recovery mode, stuck in Samsung galaxy logo
I don’t know anything about the history
Is supposed to be a phone with cracked LCD but after replaced I’m stuck
Thanks for any ideas
P.S
please don't ask me to wipe or entry in recovery mode because the phone is not able, just in download mode
thanks again
Did the device boot up correctly after you received it?
about getting into recovery, just flash one with odin in download mode and see if you can get into it (home + power + volume up (or down, can't remember which of the 2 are for download mode, haven't used it in ages) ) I would recommend TWRP, as that one has a file manager in it you could use to see if there's anything on the device already.
make sure you get the official rom for your device
Code:
sammobile.com
most likely has what you need, downloads are slow though and you need to register but its a good site nevertheless.
make sure the file of the rom isn't corrupted, do a md5 check before you try to flash it. After downloading the rom zip file you need to extract it and point odin to the tar file with the "PDA" button, do not select anything besides "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" (they should be selected when opening ODIN, leave the other setting checked off)
What settings did you use in odin if i may ask? if you choose to repartition or erase nand or whatever they call it in the newer versions, you might have a serious issue as you have to have a special PIT file to get the partitions back. It also would explain why odin can't flash to the boot partition as its simply not available. If i'm not mistaken the PIT file for our devices isn't available.
could you perhaps explain a bit more in detail what steps you took after you got the device/replaced the screen in combination with odin and such? If you can't flash recovery or a rom through odin, then my best bet would be your device is ready to be thrown in the garbage.
i have the same prob once, and solved it...
here's what i did.
-reflash stock rom via odin
-reboot (boot loop acheived!)
-flash TWRP
-wipe cache/dalvik
-reboot but this time stuck at sammy logo for a while...
i left it alone for a while, about 15 mins. came back, and saw i was at the initial setup screen. try it... it may work for you too.

he tried flashing with odin though, but he got an error while flashing about the modem partition, either something is broken inside the phone,(missing partitions due to wrong wipe in odin perhaps) or the rom he downloaded is corrupted. Also he seems to have issues with the recovery being unable to be flashed to the device.
as soon as you get the samsung boot logo (not the initial galaxy one where your device model is mentioned) the rom is booting up, first time always takes a while being stuck on the galaxy logo however means there's probably not any boot partition written with a boot.img by odin This could also mean either corrupted rom file or lack of partition to write too. No boot partition means the device simply doesn't know it should load something.
If i understand his post correctly he bought a second-hand device where only the screen was broken. i don't know how the screen got broken in the first place, but if the device took a hard fall, there's a big chance its not only the screen but also some hardware got broken.
i have more details
actualy is a AT&T version (someone changed the screen from a canadian phone but forgot to change the label
I'm able to flash the AT&T rom I317ATTALJ2 from sammobile with odin 9reboot and F. reset time checked) but is stuck on samsung galaxy note 2 logo
I CAN"T entry in recovery mode (don't know why)
only download mode

after tried many times i asked the owner and he told me the label is from a Canadian phone but the motherboard is from at&t
i can flash ONLY with odin and only I317UCALJ2 firmware. Any other firmware from at&t or not i have error when flash the system partition
i tried also with Octopus Box and Z3x Box. Same error
after flash successfully with odin is stuck in Samsung logo and NO RECOVERY MODE
so don't ask me to wipe
maybe with some Linux commands?
thanks

try to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37688128 or if you have a different model than 7105 do a google search for a pit file for that phone.
afterwards flash the stock rom for your model (att/tmobile/etc) the rom itself should contain everything you need.
Found a pit file i will upload it here but it is from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376405 hope this helps

seeing as the motherboard is from AT&T should he still use the canadian PIT file?
(don't wanna sound like a noob, and don't have the slightest clue about how the hardware inside the phone actually works so i'm just trying to learn new stuff )
I don't think it makes a difference as far as the pit goes
just let you know i was able to flash a stock rom from at&T and the phone work well now
thanks to everybody:good:
Hi guys I just bought a SGH-I747 AT&T and the issue with it is it goes into Download mode just fine, works with Odin 3.7 loads a stock rom and then it sais reset but the phone doesn't reset just goes to black screen and then Odin sais Pass. I press the power button and Samsung appers and vibrates and goes back to black. When I try Recovery mode it show the blue writing on the left upper and the Samsung and then it goes to black screen. I put two different stock roms and same story. Kies won't recognize it and I installed recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-d2att.tar to try to get into recovery mode and of course no luck. Don't know the history on this, so if anyone could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

What firmware were you trying to flash via Odin and are you sure the seller didn't previously flash (or try to flash) the 4.3 on it? If it wasn't higher than 4.3, then you may try recovery via Kies as follows ....
Install and launch Samsung Kies on your PC (not Kies 3). Open the Tools menu and select Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
Do not connect your phone to your PC yet. Remove the battery cover and record device info written in the battery compartment
In Kies, enter your phone model (SGH-I747)
Enter the phone serial number and click OK to all the security questions. Follow all the instructions on Kies
Connect the phone when prompted and follow the rest of the instructions
Wait for firmware upgrade to complete
Good luck!
If this doesn't work, then you may try flashing the 4.1.1 stock image via Odin. Look for the correct stock image via the following thread ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
The one you want for Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T (4.1.1) is I747UCDLK3
PLEASE don't try any of the above if you were already on the 4.3 bootloader as things will only get worse.

The rom flashes fine no errors in Odin but when it sais RESET the phone turns off the download mode and vibrates once then goes black then later Odin sais Pass but I cannot start it it just bootloops and vibrates and it stays that way As far as the Kies procedure you gave me don't I have to be in recovery mode for it to see the phone? If you were successful in flashing via Odin, I would have suggested you try doing a hard wipe/reset in recovery. However, you said you can't get to recovery mode so this may not work. What happens when you try booting into recovery mode?
For Kies, you wouldn't have to be in recovery mode for the firmware restore to happen. Normally, you would have to connect your (powered-on) phone to your PC for it to be recognized by Kies. However, as you can't power on, we are forcing Kies to prepare the specific required firmware for your device by manually entering in the device information. Thus, when the phone is connected, you have firmware ready to make it work.
It may also be that the firmware you downloaded and flashed via Odin may not be the correct or full version. There are so many sources of "stock" firmware these days that one can never be too sure. You may go to Sammobile.com to download the stock firmware and compare the size of the extracted file to the one you used. The odin flashable tar.md5 file should be about 1.1Gb in size.

When I go in recovery it shows blue writing in left upper corner and Samsung logo and then black screen. I think I did use the Sammobile firmware at 1.1. My clock in download mode shows 6. I don't think that would affect it though. Could it be that Odin doesn't really write the firmware that's why flashing doesn't change anything? I don't think the jig would do anything maybe sending it for a jtag reflash is the trick.
I am lost for now. If you guys can think of anything new let me know and thanks again.

You didn't mention if you tried the Kies option. I had a similar problem once when upgrade to 4.1.1 via Kies failed during the process and that was how I was able to recover. However, since you bought this from the secondary market, there is no way of telling for certain what the previous owner did wrong which would have been useful for recovery options.
One of the nice things about Odin is that you usually know the results immediately. If it says Pass, therefore, that's likely what it means. So Odin did flash something. But what did it flash? The counter you saw in download mode shows how many custom system installations there have been and 6 does show there has been some previous heavy tinkering with the phone. As you are still able to get into download modes, I would suggest you try flashing custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) via Odin. If this works and you are able to get into recovery mode, you may then try doing a hard wipe/reset via recovery. You may also try flashing the other (rooted) 4.1.1 file via Odin. At this stage, you really have nothing to lose in trying all options. I guess if you can get into recovery mode, the problem is almost solved as this leaves plenty of options.
A jig wouldn't help as that only gets you to download mode which, for now, you don't have a problem with. JTag should always be a last resort option only. Let me know how far it goes and good luck!
When flashing in Odin, did you check auto reboot? If you did, try flashing again but uncheck auto-reboot. When you see Reset in the status windows, disconnect the USB cable, pull out the battery, wait a few seconds until the phone completely shuts down, put back in the battery, get into recovery, wipe cache, do a factory reset, and reboot.

Try flashing a stock 4.1.1 rom from sammobile using Odin. Do not check auto reboot. When you see reset in the status window, disconnect the usb cable, pull the battery, replace the battery, boot into recovery, and wipe. I have done this numerous times on my i747m after flashing custom ROMs.

The unbricking image only helps you get into download mode from where you can work your way up the rest of the food chain. As you can already get into download mode without difficulties, I doubt if that's what you really need. You are also able to flash ROMs successfully in download mode via Odin so you've gone far up on the food chain already. Perhaps you are not doing the recovery thing correctly enough. Like Audit said, you need to continue holding down the Volume Up and Menu buttons whilst releasing the Power button after you see the first flash until the recovery menu appears and then do a hard wipe/reset.
Perhaps you could also try flashing TWRP via Odin if CWM isn't working.

I already tried holding the Home and Volume up buttons for 4-5 minutes at which point my fingers got a bit tired. The reason I wanted the unbrick.img is that I am now having issues with the computer recognizing the device in usb. I plugged and unplugged so many times that it no longer works that way so I wanted to do it via sd card. The unbrick.img gets you in recovery mode and download mode as it allows you to boot from the card not from the internal HD. But the only ones I have seen are for the 4.3 issues. And I tried It but did not put my device in recovery.

You may also try using a jig to get back into download mode. Have you, however, considered exercising any buyer protection options you have on the phone since, it would appear, the guy sold you a lemon?
I have a Sprint Note 4 that supposedly had a custom ROM installed on but I believe the digitizer is broken. Nothing shows up on the display. I booted into DOWNLOAD MODE using Home Power and volume down and flashedN910PVPU1ANK2_N910PSPT1ANK2_SPR then N910PVPU1ANIE_N910PSPT1ANIE_SPR via ODIN It sounds like its stuck in a boot loop after both flashes, but ODIN says PASSED when it finishes. Since I can't access the screen, how can i get this flashed back to a stock rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm confused; why flash two stock tars? Did you let the phone boot after flashing the first stock tar?
I'd suggest a factory reset in recovery, power down, Odin the factory tar of your choice and let it auto boot. You should see the phone boot into into recovery briefly on the auto boot when flashing stock tar in Odin, then fully boot. If not seeing the brief recovery, start over and try again.
I recall a YouTube video on a digitizer issue that may have been resolved. The guy had a dead spot on the digitizer. I think it only suggests a possible fix in a follow-up video the user posted. But maybe the stock tar will fix it.
why flash two stock tars?
After flashing the the first one, it just kept rebooting. That was last night. Today I flashed the older one. I'm trying install ADB on my Windows 7 desktop to enter recovery.
So you can't do power down, volume up, home plus power to get to recovery?
The stock kernel won't allow adb access; permission denied when booted. Haven't tried adb on a boot loop; don't know if it lets you in or not.
Did you check the md5 for match prior to Odin? Maybe bad download?
Have you tried Odin without the sdcard installed. Bad user data or root directory data bad?
You could Odin the TWRP tar recovery and wipe everything but recovery and boot partition. Then Odin the stock tar after a power down.
Be careful not to select repartition during Odin. There was a PIT file posted but AFAIK, no one has shared a successful experience using the repartition with PIT file. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong and post a link to correct PIT file to use. Please.

I tried without SD card and I didn't check repartition in ODIN. The md5 matched on both.
Did you try the suggestion of using TWRP to wipe partitions prior to stock tar? Look next to last paragraph of previous post.
Only other advice I can think of ATM is that the stock tars are so large, it takes a few moments to verify once selected. I leave my phone USB disconnected until Odin has verified the tar selected. Then I plug the USB and make sure I have the COM pop-up prior to start. If not, disconnect and reconnect the USB until COM is displayed. Not sure but I think there were some posters that didn't really flash the stock tar in Odin.

How can I use TWRP without the screen?
thanks
Sorry but I got focused on the boot loop issue and lost focus on the screen issue.
No screen has me wondering how you know you're in download mode to flash Odin tar?
Starting over, I've never used kies but there was a similar problem in this thread I found with Google.

So you pulled the battery, pressed and held volume down, home and power buttons until it vibrated, waited to make sure it wasn't just booting, when satisfied, you pressed volume up; right?
I'd say that is a sufficient feel.
If the Odin or kies update won't take and screen is dead; with no adb access, who would know what's on the phone unless it's just not playing the right boot tone when it keeps rebooting? Problem?
I think that may be enough to take your phone back to point of sale and ask for replacement without worrying about root voiding warranty?
Did you try the Kies update?
I am familiar with the Note 3, thats how I was able to get it into Download mode by feel. I tried KIES and it said that my device is not supported. Im using the latest version of KIES. I know I'm running into an issue with the usb driver recognizing...Im on Windows 10 technical preview. thinking about trying it on an old Win7 laptop.. thanks for the advice
I have a Note 8.0 that is stuck in a boot loop. It get to the initial screen. "Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110" and then screen goes blank and it starts over again. Never goes past this screen. I have flashed a stock rom (\N5110UEU2COI3_N5110XAR2COI3_HOME.tar.md5) using odin. Odin gives me a pass when it is finished but the issue persists.
Any help with this is appreciated.
Re-flash the stock ROM but, before booting for the first time, boot into stock recovery and do a full wipe. This may help get out of the bootloop.
audit13, thanks for the suggestion. I tried 3 times with no success. I did see the android with his belly door opened and the blue box spinning. Didn't see that before. However when I boot into recovery the android's belly door has a red triangle in it. A full wipe/reset has no effect and the symptoms persist.
Any other thoughts? Thanks again
I recommend trying again with Odin 3.07.
In Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time. Connect the tablet in download mode, flash the tar.md5 file in PDA. When you see the word "Reset" in the status window, remove USB cable, press and hold the power button to power off the unit. After the unit is off, use the key combination to boot immediately into recovery and perform a factory wipe/reset. If that doesn't work, you may need to flash the ROM in combination with a pit file.
audit13, tried your instructions and still ended up with the same issue. I used odin3 v3.07. Can you point me to the pit file you referred to in your previous post.
I have this file - BL_N5110UEU2CNE2_1498778_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
and this - CSC_XAR_N5110XAR2CNE2_1498778_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Are they of any use to me in this situation?
Thanks again for taking an interest in my problem, Keith
Did you download the stock ROM from sammobile? If you did, you should unzip the file once which gives you a tar.md5 file. It is this tar.md5 that is flashed in the PDA section of Odin 3.07.
SamMobile has many countries listed but not USA. Do I use Cellular South? The file I have been trying was not from SamMobile.
When you boot into download mode, does it give you the model #? Do you see anything about Knox or warranty bit in download mode?
The firmware named in the original post looks like it matches Cellular South.
I'm not sure if the 5110 was sold in the USA. If your model is wifi only, another country may work. If it's celluar, different countries use different frequencies which means cross flashing may work but connectivity (wifi and cellular) may not work.
Download mode shows this:
Odin mode (in red)
Product name: GT-N5110
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Custom
Knox Warranty Void: 0
RP SWREV: A2
It's strange that you were able to flash a stock ROM but the system status is "custom".
I suggest trying to flash an entire ROM from sammobile.com similar to the BL and CSC you flashed earlier. It may be simplet to install a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM so you can at least confirm the baseband and bootloader currently installed.
I'll give a custom recovery and rom a try tonight after work. TWRP and any stable build correct?
As for those two separate files, I didn't try anything with them. I downloaded them in case I needed to use them.
This is a board that I got off eBay for $5 and I don't know it's history. Could this issue be hardware related? The board looks good with no signs of corrosion (water damage) of hot spots (electrical surge).
It seems as though it can't find the os on boot.
Thanks again.
Did the board ever boot or was it stuck in a bootloop from the beginning? How did you know which bootloader to flash?
The board has never booted. The only files I have flashed are the one in my first post and the one from SamMobile (Cellular South) as per your instructions. These two files appear to be one in the same. Both files when flashed produced the same result, boot loop.
Do the files contain a boot loader? It sure feels like that is where the problem lies.
Success! Flashed TWRP and then installed SlimKat 4.4.4 and all is working. Need to get gapps installed but for now this board is good.
audit13, thanks again for you interest in my issue.
