You need a step-by-step guide - how good for you! Just read the Wiki more careful. There is a foolproof EXE for download in the progress section.

Though not much fun in the android on diamond yet, nothing really works, would wait some time if I was you, to at least some stable version with working drivers is out.

I am not new to technical forums. But I am new to this phone and I want to put a new rom on this phone. The current one is so slow.
What is the best rom available.
How do i put a new rom onto the phone.
Please keep it simple or point me to step by step specific instructions. Not a set of generalised instructions.
I looked at the how to thread. It was not step by step and got lost after three clicks.
specific help would be excellent.

Well this is almost a daily question.
To help you how to update your phone, please look in the sticky's. They can be usefull.
You will find this one [TUT]Complete upgrading guide (HardSPL+Radio+ROM) NOT FOR CDMA USERS!!!
And for best radio, you could always look here.

Yes alot, after i been using a custom rom & getting it back from repair, i'd had to get a custom rom on the phone again, its to slow without if you asking me.
But that's just what I think.

Ok so im still reading that guide... just a question on backup...
how am i going to backup the information on a phone? its not as if it has a cdburner lol
i dont want to loose all my info/sms historys stuff/etc. once i know this then i will get on with the hardspl stuff and radio stuff.

Honestly, not trying to be a ****, but all the answers can be found very easily if you just look at all the posts that are stickied in this forum. One of them will have the answer you're looking for. If you still can't find it, then you probably shouldn't have posted to begin with.

Been there and done that and understand where you are coming from. I actually followed the following link and it was VERY useful as it is expalined step by step http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754669
As far as the ROM he uses I cannot tell you if it is good or not but if you "flash" (unzip) [ROM] SLIDE-Reloaded v1 [9/16/10] Sense 2.1 this one it is similar to what you have now and you can slowly ease into other ones once you get used to using your phone.
PM me if I can help with this process. I am a noob myself so can't really explain a lot to you but as far as the steps go I can try and help.

The second one was shown not to work on like the second or third page because ROM manager can't successfully flash clockwork recovery.

Nexus has become sluggish after recent update (how should I restore or root?)

I'm trying to fix my cousin's galaxy nexus that was bought new a few months ago. It's jus that after the recent system update, his whole phone has become sluggish, and it doesn't feel right. I must admit that I've never owned an Android device (neither has he) so we both really don't know how to fix it or restore the phone. I looked in the development section but its just so overwhelming, not sure what I should be looking for or trying out..
Can someone please point this beginner in the right direction? I read that the latest update was causing problems and people installed the "stock version" on their phones, which made it better, but I don't know I how I would go about doing that.
I'd appreciate some feedback thanks!

Do you need the baseband, kernel version, build number?

I know this is not a support site but this is the section to ask for help, isn't it? I read through that sticky but it doesn't necessarily explain how I would go about restoring me phone to install a stock copy of the latest Android..I really don't want to mess up this phone so that is why I want to confirm everything before I try to load something onto it.

If you scroll to the 2nd post in that thread there's a link to a guide to return to stock as well as a guide to root.

Best way to make it quick is to earse everything like I did after owning my Nexus for 1 yr. Back up everything that needs backing up on a computer.
But the New 4.2 update is pretty heavy and causes lag. Also having low storage space can cause it to slow down too I think.
Here's what I recommend. Root it. Have u done that yet? If not I'll help. It's REALLY easy. Only four commands(I believe) and a driver for adb and fastboot and the SUfile and the recovery.img.
This will EARSE everything. So you'll be fresh. And then put ur freshly backed up stuff back on the phone.
