Hi,
I was on miui 9.5.13.0, made a nandroid backup with twrp
I went to miui 10, made a nandroid backup
played a bit with miui, root, debloat and at reboot i was stuck at mi logo . Phone went alone to fastboot so i boot twrp and restore miui 10 backup.
This works.
I tried to restore my miui 9 backup and there i am stuck at mi logo. Phone do not goes to fastboot. I have to use vol - and power.
So it seems that my original backup is not working and safe.
What should i do now to come back to status phone out of the box ?
Shall i miflash fastboot rom and will it work ?
Shall i twrpflash clean my miui 9 rom ?
Shall i abandon miui and go only for custom rom ?
Thanks for help.
Can you still access TWRP recovery? I would download miui 9.5.13.0 Recovery Full Rom (1.5 GB) and install this ZIP via TWRP AFTER wiping cache and art/dalvik cache in TWRP.

You can use mi flash to flash fastboot rom or simply flash MIUI recovery rom(officially available) using twrp. Make sure you wipe system data and cache. You'd be good to go

yes i have access to fastboot so either miflash tool or twrp.
Shall i also wipe system,vendor,internal storage ?
what i do not understand is that nandroid backup is not working...
Because of downgrade from 10 to 9 ?
Because of encrypted device ?
Because i flashed china rom on global model ?

So I just got Mi6 in my hands today, and tried to install Xiaomi EU v8.5.2.0 ROM.
Now, it won't boot. Stuck in Mi logo.
I have flashed TWRP
I have wiped Dalvik Cache, Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage (and probably that messed it up)
Then, installed the ROM via sideload. Rebooted phone, and it's stuck in boot logo
Some friends said something about "boot.img" and SuperSU. What should I do now?
Thank you!
I think your best bet now to use miflash tool and flash fastboot rom.
Though if you can flash twrp, you should be able to flash custom rom using that. Follow the steps 1 by 1. Sometimes certain rom needs u to flash firmware first.

Well, I have fixed it by repairing system partition. But now, no EU ROM will boot. MIUI Global Stable v8.2 boots, but Wi-Fi and fingerprint is broken.

So he restarted? Test can be ROM dev to see
But bizarre that on stable ROM this does not work
Yeah, I would suggest flash stable fastboot rom via miflash and start again. If fingerprint/wifi still broken after flash fastboot rom via miflash, there is high chance the hardware is broken.
If it does back to stock and everything works, follow flash procedure for custom rom step by step. There is no real reason it will not work. Good luck

MiFlash gives me "cast id invalid" error, I've been using TWRP and fastboot to flash. I flashed it few times, but it didn't work. So I wiped all the data, flashed again and it works now.
Any ideas why won't EU ROMs boot?
Thanks!
I am using xiaomi.eu ROM myself flashed via twrp 3.1.1.0 Seems working fine. I just boot the twrp via fastboot boot, using twrp mtp to transfer EU rom inside, and flashed.
Done. Everything works. I am currently under miui 8.2 atm. Seems good so far.
Hello guys,
I was actually using twrp with miui 9.2 for over a month without any problem but then this new update come and i update my device and it recover the original mi recovery.
Thats normal for me. Then i installed twrp via fastboot, rebooted to twrp and without touching anything i rebooted to system then only mi logo showing.
I again reset my phone. Flash fastboot image of mi 9.2 global and update it through ota and again flash twrp then fectory reset but the reault are same.
I also do above steps and do wipe delvik and cache, dont wipe delvik and cache and dont do factory reset, delete the backup recovery from system but after all this the result remain same.
I also download the china version of fastboot rom which is miui 9.5 and replace the recovery.img with twrp (change the name recovery.img) but still no luck.
Soo what i miss? Is there no way to boot miui 9.5 with custom recovery?

Yup its done i have installed magisk immediately after flashing twrp and it works
Thanks for ur time
I have now tried to install the latest RR and Omnirom builds and the problem remains the same.
I've been very particular about wiping data before the installs.
Here is what I have done,
Performed data wipe by typing "yes" when requested. Used advance wipe to wipe everything.
Installed Rom, Stock Gapps and Magisk zip files.
Wiped Cache.
Reboot
The phone will not boot and only returns to recovery.
Can anyone help?
Here is my TWRP log if this helps - https://pastebin.com/ghpXkt3t
Not sure if this is relevant, but every time I try to flash a ROM it always fails on the first attempts and needs a second try to succeed.

If you only get to the mi logo and not the ROM boot screen then format data "yes 3-4 times in a row.
If that doesn't work then wipe the system and data and retry
I was only getting the Mi logo, so I did the format data 4 times in a row and rebooted.
I then saw the Omnirom logo for the first time!
unfortunately 2 seconds later I'm back in TWRP.
I have now tried for the 5th time to perform a fresh install.
Formatting data multiple times, wiping system and data multiple times.
The result is the same.
I see a flicker of the Omnirom logo and I get booted back into recovery.

Please try this:
1. Wipe: Dalvik / Art Cache; System; Data; Cache;
2. Go back to main TWRP screen and install the rom, install Google Apps, install "addonsu-15.1-arm64-signed.zip" (in case of Lineage) or the latest Magisk (in case of other rom)
3. Wipe Cache
4. Reboot
If this doesn't work and the device restarts in twrp, then pls download the twrp flashable Xiaomi rom from here: http://en.miui.com/download-334.html
1. Wipe: Dalvik / Art Cache; System; Data; Cache
2. Go back to main twrp screen and install the Xiaomi rom. Do not reboot.
3. Go back to main twrp screen and Wipe: Dalvik / Art Cache; System; Data; Cache
4. Go back to main twrp screen and install the rom (Lineage or OMNI or RR), install Google Apps, install "addonsu-15.1-arm64-signed.zip" (in case of Lineage) or the latest Magisk (in case of other rom)
5. Wipe Cache
6. Reboot
I had the same problem and this method worked for me, maybe it will work for you too. :fingers-crossed:
If it doesn't then maybe you have to start from zero and flash the original Xiaomi rom in fastboot mode (rom here: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html) via MIUI ROM Flashing Tool, unlock bootloader (bootloader might relock), flash twrp and then flash new custom rom.
No idea what happened but I have the same issue atm.
I was running a recent Omnirom for a few weeks. System got unstable, so decided to flash the newest version. Got me stuck in a bootloop. I tried everything, short of relocking and unlocking the bootloader.
- Full wipe, including storage
- Reflash Global Dev through TWRP.
- Flash stock Global Dev over flashboot
- Flash Omni, wipe, flash omni again.
All the same. Global Dev runs, all AOSP roms just go into bootloop. No idea what went wrong, I've flashed tens of custom roms over the past months without issues.

Then maybe the right solution to get out of bootloops would be to start from zero and flash the original Xiaomi rom in fastboot mode (rom here: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html) via MIUI ROM Flashing Tool, unlock bootloader (as bootloader will relock), flash twrp, do a full wipe and then flash new custom rom.

I have reflashed the original Xiaomi ROM (running it atm ) using the official Xiaomi Flash Tool.
I just did not relock my bootloader doing that (there's an option to leave it unlocked). Will relocking and then unlocking the bootloader really make a difference?

Not really. You ev. save yourself a waiting time of 72h....
Not sure what happened. I set up MIUI completely. Then, getting frustrated after using it for 10 minutes, decided to try one more time. Same thing.
1) Fastboot flash TWRP.
2) Wipe
3) Flash Rom
4) Flash GAPPS
Worked this time. No idea what went wrong the first 4 times. Only difference is that I went through the trouble to set up the entire phone this last time before trying again.
Anyhoo, so if anyone has the same issue. Set up phone in MIUI, only then wipe/flash
I got mine working by not installing Magisk. I just flashed Omnirom and GApps and it worked.
After setting up my phone I have since rebooted into recovery and installed Magisk and it works.
Can't system boot after install TWRP, Lazy Magisk on MIX M2S
Hello,
I have this problem, the phone does not boot after TWRP, Lazyflasher and Magisk being installed all fine.
I have re-installed the official ROM on my Xiaomi MI MIX 2S, then TWRP is fine too, then Lazy and Magisk fine.
When I reboot, it is stocked on MI logo whatever I do.
I have tried most of the advise posted but still stocked.
I restarted from scratch, installing again the official ROM, then fastboot flash recovery twrp, then lazy and Magisk, but still stocked on MI.
Thanks a lot in advance
Did you wipe system by any chance.. If you did you need to flash miui again with fastboot.. Or boot into fastboot and type this command 'fastboot format userdata' and press enter. You are facing this issue because of encryption

Gratitude for your reply. What do you mean by "wipe system". I installed the rom and then TWRP etc...
I flashed the ROM again and went into bootloader
I typed "fastboot format userdata" and the system replied:
"/usr/local/bin/mke2fs failed with status 1
mke2fs failed: 1
error: Cannot generate image for userdata
Can you advise.
Thanks a LOT

I used MI MIX 2D:
As in en.miui web site

Author: MIUI Official TeamVersion: V10.0.9.0.PDGMIFH (MIUI10) Size: 1.7G
My mobile is:
MI MIX 2S, Android 9PKQ1
MIUI Global 10.0
Thanks a lot for your advise as always stock, despite different attempts

NO, I followed the usual process with ADB tools.
However, I have no boot "stuck at MI logo (bootloop)" problem when I flash the ROM.
It happens only when use TWRP and flash Magisk and Lazy.
Then, when I restart it got stuck at MI Logo.
Do you suggest I try to flash with MI logo (I don't have a PC though).
If so, should I just flash the ROM and then, what about TWRP, should I use MI flash or ADB?
I just want to make sure that the problem is with the ROM instal?
Thanks a LOT
mi max 3 bootloop after installing twrp via fastboot. after successfully installing and entering twrp I have format data using twrp, but after reboot system I got bootloop. stuck on miui logo n android loading.

You have to be aware to flash a rom after you wipe data partition you need to change data partition to EXT4 for example to prepare to flash a Rom). All of this has to be done while in Recovery before you reboot. It happened to my device when it warned me that i have No OS.
If recovery cannot be flashed correctly, try the TRWP CN version mentioned on page 6 in the AOSiP thread, and if anyone has trouble after changing to EXT4 which is required to flash Custom Rom, just change the data partition (EXT 2 for example) on the advanced wipe/ change partition option, and then change back to EXT 4. And follow the instructions on AOSiP on how to flash properly.
That TWRP worked on first try in case the others don't work.
After boot to the rom... you can go back to Revovery, and flash Nigel's TWRP, and you will not have anymore problems with wiping data and doing OTA manually. (Whenever there's an update)
So I'm on miui 9 (9.6.4) rooted with redwolf recovery(note 5 pro).
Can someone please explain to me how do i upgrade to miui 10 since i cannot update through normal OTA .
Also is it worth upgrading to miui 10?
Thanks in advance!
miui10.0.4 is out, its similar to miui9.6.x with few interface differences! still on 8.1 Oreo
since you are rooted.
1. download the recovery version of the ROM from http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.0.4.0....roGlobal_V10.0.4.0.OEIMIFH_9aa5f799fe_8.1.zip
2. put it on sdcard or usb otg drive
3. simply flash it
4. if you wana do clean flash, you have to re format your data partition
5. once miui 10.0.0.4 is flashed, reboot it, let the first boot done! , once rebooted, come back to recovery again and try to flash magisk or any other kernel...
I magisked my device before rebooting on miui10.x and it went on bootloops! later i had to change my /data parition to-from xfat/ext4 and wipe etc then finally i was able come out from bootloops!
and ofcourse! ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP !! (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

the best way is.. to use fastboot rom.. latest 10.0.4 use miflash this will make rom all stock recovery ect.. so if you want to use twrp again and root you must install twrp again since fastboot restores stock recovery.. just make sure in miflash at bottom dont select clean and lock.. or itll lock bootloader..select clean all.
