[Q] GSI's for Razer Phone - Razer Phone Questions & Answers

Hi XDA,
I know development is very sparse for this phone, and I know there are some GSI's are out, so I'm looking for some advice.
Are there any GSI's that meet all of the following? :
- Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, 4G etc all working
- Bluetooth MUST support aptx codec, I can't get this working on the stock rom (even with rayglobe module)
- NFC must work and needs to pass safetynet with magisk (the GSI's I tried a few months back, I couldn't get NFC working, nor safetynet to pass with magisk. Both work on stock)
- somewhat stable
- not bothered about VoLTE, the band my network uses is slow as hell anyway
- Speakerphone and earpeace must work for calls, don't need BT audio for calls.
I don't case about wiping my phone, I usually do that anyway with a rom or GSI flash
Either that or does anyone know a way to get aptx working On stock properly and centre the clock in status bar
Cheers!

Gravity box O or flat style status bar Xposed modules will handle the centered clock.
Have you tried enabling developer options in settings and messed with aptx Bluetooth settings?

You didn't read my initial question properly. I need safetynet to pass. Xposed does not enable that, but thanks for the suggestion.
I have played with dev options, I'm a long time rooter so it's the first thing I enable - it just defaults to SBC, and the device I'm connecting to DOES support aptx, worked on my old OP5 and works in a galaxy s8+
Here is a log error from catalog if that helps.

Bluetooth Media Remote

I am trying to use a bluetooth Media Remote. When I search for bluetooth devices the device will appear and when I select it asks if I want to connect. However when I click yes it does not actually connect. I have tried to run XMTC and changed the name from ODB to the name of the device. This changes the icon of the device on the unit however it still does not connect. This appears to be OS\driver issue not a hardware issue since the device is being found.
I have tried two different bluetooth remotes with the same results(from amazon)
Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button)
iSimple Portable Wireless Remote Control
I can however connect these to my phone and change the volume on the phone while I am streaming music to the head unit. And this is nice, but I would really like to be able to control the head units volume instead.
Does someone have a custom ROM that could fix my issue?
Edit - was able to resolve my issue. Used xposed framework and bt module to remove the name limitation.

I am glad you were able to resolve your issue. Hoping someone smarter than me can fix mine
Anyone have any ideas how to get other bluetooth devices to work with this system? I expect someone that can build a custom ROM could fix this.

Did anyone ever find out which xposed module this is?
Hey there, I've got the Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button) thing too, and surprise surprise, it won't talk to my Pumpkin HU (rk3066, android 4.4.1, mcu KLD2).
I've rooted the stock using the #hct#root# trick and installed SuperSU. I would love to get the button working!
I've got my head unit installed in my right-hand drive car (am in UK) - and where it's mounted, it is just out of reach unless I lean forward - so I can't really use it without looking, apart from using the tiny buttons down the side.
Happy to try the xposed framework but like OP I don't know which modules to use to get a USB BT dongle working. Any help greatly appreciated!
I definitely may be wrong but I assumed he was referring to the Xposedmtc module (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54334741) in the OBD settings where you specify the string. Though I assumed this only worked for OBD devices. I tried using it to pair an iRadar device with mine but was unsuccessful.
Oh, poop. Thanks all the same. Will keep an eye on this thread and report back if I ever get anywhere! Could it be that these HU's are only Bluetooth 2.0 compatible? Every device I've seen seems to be 3.0...
Hmmm. I'm thinking of getting a cheap wired USB numberpad (they're like £3) and using it with a keyboard mapper like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper
and this list:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
Oh and this is as much a note to self as anything!

It's going to be ugly...but that's never stopped me
Bumping as I have interest too.
You guys are making this way too difficult. Check this out. It works great on my joying.

Anyone has found which xposed bt module the op was talking about ? I have already bought the bluetooth remote but I can't connect to it. (Works on my phone)
Also bought a Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button) for use with my Joying unit but alas no success, so bumping this thread to see if there is any progression.
@dcmtnbkr are you able to show a quick video of your unit in action?
For the people that have gotten their bluetooth "remotes" to work, can you simultaneously also pair your phone and perform calls?

I bought much the same device but it won't directly connect to my HU. The HU will connect to my phone and my phone connect to media controller so I know all the devices work. Do I need a Droid program to allow access directly to the HU which is playing music from a USB flash drive.
Main problem is HU has panel controls for volume but cannot skip a song with going into player program. I use the display for my engine management gauges and don't want to keep getting out of program just to skip a song I don't like.
jim
I'm familiar with the one you're talking about, it's not the same thing.
I found another one that would work and is less intrusive.

Moto Z2 Force - APTX?

Hello!
Anyone knows if our phone supports aptX codec?
I've looked around but couldn't see any info about this
Thanks!

I'm not sure if the version Moto put on of Nougat supports Apt-X or not, but it does support AAC up to 256kbps. Once Oreo comes out, it supports Apt-X HD as well as the awesome LDAC protocol natively. Not only that, but in Dev options, there's an entire section on Bluetooth streaming protocols and bitrate/sample rate settings. It's awesome!
Yeah! I can confirm that it supports on Oreo
Codec settings
Has anyone been able to get AptX HD setting in Bluetooth dev options to stay on? Sony WH-1000xm2 just reverts back to LDAC each time headphones are reconnected.
Yes it supports AptX. I don't have any devices that use AptXHD so I can't confirm that.

It doesn't actually work. In developer options the option won't save like it should. It seems something is preventing it from activating. Only AVRCP changes, all other options cannot be changed

The thing preventing it from activating is not having a device that uses it connected. As you can see from this screenshot it's active in the developer options too.

LDAC is Sony's own codec and as far as I've heard is superior to aptX HD in just about every way.

Hrm, could be because I am on DU and was told it's a known issue on stock so shrugged it off. I miss LDAC...

None of the settings on DU, AOSiP, and invictrix stick, even graphics settings, when switching the GPU render from OpenGL to Vulkan, it doesn't stick and games crash, I have to restart device to fix it.
Settings don't stick because the Bluetooth LDAC needs to be able to connect to multiple devices and negotiate the best possible connection to each device hence the last setting best effort adaptive bitrate is always toggled and you can't seem to change that. But as each new Bluetooth device connects check back in developer settings and you will see what is the current codec in use for the connected device.

disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload?

I have searched here and the Google, with no joy.
I was browsing DEVELOPER OPTIONS and ran across a setting, that I do not know if ON or OFF is best.
SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS > NETWORKING > DISABLE BLUETOOTH A2DP HARDWARE OFFLOAD
I am unsure which was default and could not find the benefits of either selection.
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

According to this article the default is off, but it does not say what the purpose of the toggle is.

Thanks! At least this confirms what I thought.
I think I inadvertently turned it on, while scrolling. I believe that's why I noticed it, in the first place, because the switch was blue and obvious.
Did you ever figure out what the purpose of the toggle is?
I looked at this a while ago https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78362981&postcount=10
Different manufacturers/Models of phones have it disabled or it resets when the phone starts. This could be to do with them implementing their own audio processor (DAC/Chip/etc) for processing the audio. It has no effect when changed according to anyone that's bothered to trying it.
Thanks for the update.
It will affect gapless playback on GPM (dont know about other services) with Bluetooth headphones ( dont know why)
enabling this feature helped me fix a low volume problem on a Bluedio T6 bluetooth headphones.
I want to know exactly what this is too. I only know that it makes music track transitions on GPM gappless. I found that suggestion on Reddit when I was trying to listen to Dark Side of the Moon and the damn gaps kept ruining my chill.
I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 running Derpfest (android 9 pie) rom.I toggled it off and it asked me to restart my phone. So I did and now it's greyed out.Plus I noticed a slight difference in audio quality while using my BT earphones.Any way of turning it back on or I'll have to live with the consequences?
Yeah at the bottom of dev settings you can reset all to default.

This happened to me too. To fix this, in the developer settings menu, toggle Developer Options off then without leaving that screen, toggle it back on again. Scroll down and you should be able to toggle that setting off.
Worked for me on my LG V-40

When disabling it you have to restart your phone and of the feature is working it will remain off and your headphones will work
google voice stopped to work when i turned on this option.
most of you are toggling an option without knowing what it does.
Shouldn't be better understanding exactly what it's for ?
Don't toggle it on, here's why...

Bluetooth Issues on LineageOS 15.1 (on hero2lte)

I have installed LineageOS 15.1 on Samsung S7 Edge (hero2lte) some time ago, today I encountered an issue with the bluetooth.
The problem is that the phone connects with the bluetooth device (bluetooth headphones, that are perfectly working on other smartphones), media sound is working, but in-call sound is completely garbled or muted on both ends.
I tried every common and possible solution (network settings reset, battery optimization on bluetotth apps, rebooted in safe mode (in wich the audio from the mic is present, but totally garbled), used bluetooth with wifi off, deleted cache and data of the bluetooth app, ecc...
Here on XDA I found what it can be a solution: in the topic https://forum.xda-developers.com/lineage/general/kb-article-troubleshooting-bluetooth-t3646969 the section 3b says:
"3b) Description: Garbled /mute incall sounds (Universal HAL)
Background: Unlike the klte, many Exynos devices have a shared audio HAL that supports 16k WBS however there was a small misuse of the sample rate constant resulting in garbled sound.
The usage of audio_hal.force_voice_config = (wide or narrow) is usually not required (add if needed)
If the fix from 3a has been applied or was previously set, remove any definitions of SCO_WBS_SAMPLERATE in the vendor config.
Fix: https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/182054/
Right now this in in testing. We are looking for more affected devices that are using android_hardware_samsung as audio HAL.
Update: See the detailed list of possible affected devices below, as far as I see all of them have not yet enabled WBS yet."
Wich directs to these fix https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/177996/ and https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/178371/
But how to apply them on my device?

Cfw android 10 common bugs

CFW Android 10 Custom Roms are stable for daily driver, but...
All devs hide you the common bugs because they are known (what?, if I'm new here? You're supposed to know them)
For doing it short I'm writing here these known common bugs...
- Wearing earphones and entering a call goes at highest volume possible.
- You can't activate speakerphone during a call
- Calling app crashes if other is not reachable
- You can't deactivate SIMS if you are interested in.
- Bluetooht whastapp calls don't work at all.
- You can record calls if you use UCRE but you will enjoy yourself in echo during bluetooth calls.
- You need other cam app if you want to take real profit from cams.
- No FM radio at all
If you think I have forgotten something or maybe have been fixed tell me here.

NFC works in most roms
Xiaomi somehow changed the camera hardware. So for the newer models the camera is broken.
You can get the backcamera working but no selfie camera.
This is the reason I need to sell my new RN8pro. For verification for some apps I need to use the selfie cam.
I would have loved to have read about that bug before I bought it.
