Looks like TeamViewer only does screen sharing on the Pixel XL. Anyone managed to do real remote control of the Pixel XL? Is it, by any chance, because I am not rooted?
I've only used it to control PC which works A OK, I know this is not much use to you but I had to comment that I dig you Avatar "Anti-distinctly-minty-monetarism..."
TeamViewer From my past knowledge of it was only intended to be used to control computers and not phones. It never had that feature.
If it did then it would most certainly require root.

TeamViewer on your pc can access most Android phones. With regards to the Google Pixel, TeamViewer has sent in a request for authorization however Google has not accepted it. If they don't in the next few months then it probably won't happen. I believe Google denied TeamViewer access to the most recent Nexus lineup.
Teamviewer allows full control of the phone when using many Samsung devices. Pixel isn't supported and will only do screen mirroring (no interaction). Google didn't want to give TV access to the necessary code.
Real remote control with AirDroid

I have the same issue. Cannot control my mother's Pixel 2 via TeamViewer. Screen sharing only, no control. However, AirDroid does allow mirroring WITH control, without root, even in their free version. Not as good as TeamViewer, but better than nothing!
You will have to enable Developer options (google it), enable USB debugging, and connect the phone by wire to the computer once. Thereafter, none of that is necessary, and fully functional mirroring works well enough.
However, I have just lost this ability for no apparent reason and AirDroid wants me to repeat the setup process. Not easy, with my 95 year old mother in another state. Hopefully I can walk her through it, using Teamviewer to see what she sees, telling her what to touch.
I sure hope TeamViewer gets what they need from Google to fully support this badly needed feature on Pixel and Pixel 2!!! My wife and my mom will both appreciate it, too.

Alpha VNC Lite does it without root! It's just a VNC server. The mouse and touch support are slow, but they work okay. On slower phones it's really painful, but on the Pixel it's fine. it's a bit pricey at $7 PER PHONE, but worth it if you need it.

AnyDesk works perfect on Pixel and Android phones (and PCs)!

I realize this is an old thread but, I just recently upgraded to a Pixel 2 (for $120 on Amazon) and when I recommended the Pixel family of phones (my new favorite phone, damn Google really does an excellent job with the entire user experience) now I'm wanting to remote into friends and families Pixel phones, and TeamViewer doesn't allow this!!!
I'm a long time TeamViewer user, and was really dissappointed about the lack of control on Pixel phones since I was able to control my LG and Samsung phones. TeamViewer's explanation about needing Google's authorization/help seemed like a reasonable and unavoidable issue that was out of TeamViewer's hands.
Then I happened along AnyDesk and OMG, it's a showstopper, it's so fast and capable I was blown away. At first it only offered "view only as well." But when I opened it a second time it asked about installing a Plug-in that would allow full control. Sure enough, I can remote into my phone from another Android phone or my computer. And the control is amazing. The Plugin is called "AnyDesk control plugin (ad1)" since I can't post a link.
I've since "upgraded" all my computers to AnyDesk from TeamViewer. In my opinion it is MUCH faster and more responsive, and CRAZY easy to setup and use. TeamViewer really was making the whole process more convoluted then necessary. Now it feels like I can instantly log into whatever PC or phone I want, so easy and fast compared to TeamViewer!!! Loving AnyDesk, and I highly recommend it!
Hi all,
i still very much like the Nextbit Robin and i found the concept behind https://maruos.com/ to be very cool and i would like to see this running on the robin.
As maru is now based on LineageOS and Lineage 15.1 was a very stable experience on the device i just wanted to suggest porting maru to robin.
(Sadly i myself lack the skills to do this)
There is a very active google group
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/maru-os
and a development section
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/maru-os-dev
that already contains some hints/patches on how to take this to other devices from existing lineage device trees.
I tought i would post this here so maybe someone with the required knowledge to do a maru build might take an interest in doing so :highfive:
Best regards
I believe this utilizes USB-C to HDMI which isn't supported on ether because of hardware limitations. There may be Chromecast support for it's desktop environment feature but I'll have to check. If so, I see a possible use case.
Hey AnierinB,
i had the same concern but maru supports chromecast & miracast for the desktop environment.
(it should be working already as its shown in the videos on their website)
Best regards

Once my replacement motherboard for my server is here I'll build it and test it out. I'll reply to this thread to share my progress and findings.
Does anyone know which update had or will have the API for contact tracing for the Pixel 3a and the XL?

I'm pretty sure it has been installed for a bit, much earlier than any recent app updates. Google's API has been utilized since nearly the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, only recently is when it was made available to public officials. But Apple and Google have both been working together for a bit now from what I understand.
I have a Pixel 3a XL and need to set it up as a company/work device. I need to use a global proxy MDM/filtering system to filter/restrict all traffic (including app traffic) to keep this limited to mainly work related usage. A very similar system is already in place for the all the company iOS devices (I hate Apple), but we need a solution for Android. This is a small company third party service, in-house developed. The idea is to get something that will integrate with the back-end system already in place, so various other MDM systems like Google Enterprise won't work in this case.
It is my understanding that in "stock" (Google) Android, this isn't feasible because Google blocks installation of certs in the system store. Is this correct?
So the main question: Is this possible with LOS? The phone still needs Play Store and some Google apps like Maps.
I'm new to LineageOS, so any and all help will be appreciated.
PS. I'm also looking at GrapheneOS for this. Would that work better for this application? Or is that a bad idea? I don't know.
Helo, Recently I decided to get tablet for my car, and I come up with Google pixel C tablet, Which I'd like to use for many reason, to listen music and watch, for camera instead of mirrors, for GPS navigation. I like the size and every specs it has, read everything about it, but There is no GPS? Google pixel c doesn' come with built in gps? Is it true, why did they do so good tablet without gps? it's something like iphone 12 without camera.
I just can't beleive that any modern tablet without GPS, and plus google would have include gps staff in their devices. My question is is it true or did I read something wrong?
