Hi,
I update my htc one x to the jelly bean update yesterday. I have been on stock all this while and updated to the official ota. I have not installed any roms yet or unlocked the phone. Since i updated i seem to be having a strange problem. When the phone goes to sleep for prolonged periods, and i try to turn it on, the screen remains black. The light for the buttons turn on and there is light at the btm of the screen but the screen stays black. It has happened twice and the only way to solve it is to reboot the phone. i can hear messages and calls coming but the screen remain black. I am wondering is this a "feature of the phone" or is there any settings i should change? Or is there any solutions to this problem.
I have a stock Note 4, never been rooted. When I used to plug in the charger, the notification light would light up red with the screen off, and if I had notifications it would blink blue.
Today it stopped doing that. I tried restarting and removing the battery, same thing. The only time the light will come on is if I restart my phone, it turns blue for a little bit, but notifications nor a power cable plugged in will trigger it.
Phone is less than a month old, I don't have the TEP on it, would Sprint replace it with a refurb model if they're unable to fix it?
edit: I found a way around it by going to accessibility > notification reminder > and turning on LED indicator, when I turn it on though it warns me that using this feature disables the charging notification. I guess it’s better than having no notification light at all.
edit2: there's another option under settings > display and wallpaper > LED indicator. for some reason that was unchecked. turned it on and everything is back to normal.

Thank you!! I had the exact same problem and the "edit2" solution solved it perfectly. :highfive:
Has a proper fix been found for this yet? I have a Samsung Note 4 that was just updated to Android 5.1.1 and the LED notification stopped working. I have gone through all of the settings that effect it, but nothing works. I am not interested in a work around. I am only interested in having my phone function as it is supposed to.
Ok, this is VERY irritating!!! I set my phone on my wireless charger before going to bed last night, woke up this morning and my phone screen has turned to Greyscale. Battery is at 100%.
1st things 1st - My phone is not in Power Saving Mode, nor is it in Ultra Power Saving Mode. Also...... I have already gone to Settings-->Accessibility-->Direct Access-->Greyscale (off).
I have tried toggling all of the above settings (I also have never ever used any power saving/greyscale mode to begin with). I have even tried switching themes, even reverting back to the default original theme that came with the S6. Nothing seems to work.
If I power off or reboot my phone, the boot screen is in color as well as my phone briefly is in color again while android is initiating the phone. After about 40 seconds, the phone turns to Greyscale again.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any other suggestions for me to try?
I am using a stock T-Mobile unrooted phone.
Ok, fixed! There is another "Greyscale" option under Accessibility for Vision, I turned Greyscale off. puzzled as to how that got switched on by itself but at least I know now.
Yes! The accessibility worked for me as well. I had to go to settings-->vision--> color adjustment. Then I had to drag colors in order from like this blue to brown to pink to purple. Thank you for suggesting vision! I was so irritated of the grayscale screen!!! I am guessing that it probably did that due to me ALWAYS going in and out of ultra battery saving mode (just my hypothesis--I might be wrong).
Hi Guys,
This is my first post so apologies in advance if this is not the correct place to ask this question or if I don't particularly explain the issue I'm having properly.
Something incredibly annoying and frustrating is happening with my display every night. I notice that around 7pm each evening, my phone will go from a nice crisp looking display to one with a yellowish/warm hue. It's as if my blue light filter is on but when I check, it's definitely off. I turn it on and nothing changes with the display, but when I turn it off, the display goes back to how it previously was. I am currently using the adaptive screen settings, auto brightness turned off, and blue light filter turned on with the customer schedule of midnight to 9am. I've also tried turning off blue light filter altogether but still run into this issue. It keeps happening every so often in the same night even after I've "corrected it" using the method of turning on and off the blue light filter.
Is this to be expected with the adaptive screen mode? I love how vivid and bright it is during the day, but despise the yellowish tint at night. Could it be possible that the blue light filter is somehow turning on by itself even when I've turned the feature completely off?
I appreciate any assistance. Samsung tech support was not particularly helpful and told me to go to Costco where I purchased it from and return it.
Thanks,
Cam
Have you tried configuring the color balance in the Display settings?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't tried that yet because I figured it didn't matter what setting I adjust it to as the display would automatically change in the evening anyways.

It's strange that even you already turned off Blue Light Filter, it's still making it dim. I find the dimming helpful since it doesn't strain the eyes at night. You could try reflashing the software for the phone.

I agree, but I would like for it to be turned on later such as 1 hour before I go to bed.
At 7pm PST this evening (about 15 min ago), the screen regained it's yellow tint again. I turned on the blue light filter, then turned it off to get it back to how it was initially previous to 7pm.
The Samsung support rep asked me to factory reset my phone, but that didn't work either. Would that be similar to flashing the software? I can certainly give it a try but was just wondering if the factory reset essentially did the same thing. I'm really not sure what this could be.

It's the custom schedule for the blue filter. You can change it in display settings.

This does not fix it. I have my custom schedule set to enable at 8:00 and disable at 8:01 but it still turns on at 7pm.
Finally figured it out!!! Go to Google Play Books. Open a book and tap the screen to find the letter A. From there go to settings and turn off the night light. Whew! This has been bothering me for months!! Hth!!
I'm having the exact same issue except I've turned off/on the blue light filter a million times and it doesn't fix it.
I also don't have google play books installed so it's not that. I've tried messing with every "display" setting but nothing fixes it.
My phone did this same thing a couple months ago and when I woke up the next morning, the display was back to normal. Now it just did it again but even though its a day later, my display is still all messed up (not as bright and crisp, has a yellowish hue to it).
Anyone got any other ideas or does this sound like some kind of hardware issue?
I had the same problem specially when I go to sleep at my dark bedroom, my phone is Samsung Note 8, and I just found the solution. Turn your phone to the otherside, look at the main Camera, mine has two cameras, a flash, and a rectangle black sensor at the end. I covered this sensor with a thick black paper that I found from a brochure, taped it in place, and Wala ? no more screen dim.
WOW

This has been bothering me for more than a year. I had to get a free book to try it out. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!!
Hi guys, yesterday I worked on the phone and from one moment to another it went Black, I restarted it and when it turned on the image began to flash, I managed to put it in 60hz and 144hz and it was worse, when I entre the recovery mode it is seen without no problem, will it be a problem With the rom? Or screen died, if someone knows something ir would be very helpful, thanks!!
PD: when I adjust the brightness it works well, but once locked or opening some camera-like app it goes black and doesn't turn back on.
