Problem with K-9 Mail OxygenOS 5.0.3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Greetings,
I have just installed OOS 5.0.3 and I am unable to use K-9 Mail. Initially, I can open the app but if I try to import account settings or after adding an account it force closes. I didn't have this problem with Open Beta, is anyone else using K-9 Mail with 5.0.3 and having troubles?
Edit: would anyone else who is running 5.0.3 please try installing K-9, setting it up and letting me know if it works on their phone? This way I would know if it is just my phone that's not working on.
Edit: I installed OB 37 and had no problem until I removed Chrome. K-9 would not open. I reinstalled Chrome and it started working again. Strange.

Get a log and that will tell you what is going on. This way you can send the log to either 1+ or the k-9 dev. Depending on the issues. Might even be both.

Thanks @zelendel, I sent feedback to the K-9 dev with that automated massage that appears when an app force closes. I have no clue how to go about reading a log. I was just hoping someone else could confirm that the app is working or not with 5.0.3 first. That way I would know if it it just on my phone and I could clean install or something.

For something like that I would have posted on the one plus forums as there is where you are most likely to find people using the OEM software. Not many people here use the stock software.

facebook for htc sense unable to login

I know the password and and email is right because i use the same to login on a pc or the mobile broswer, but it just won't let me login or the facebook app from the market. any suggestions?
Did you try uninstalling/reinstalling? Is your version of Facebook outdated?
Well the only way i can remove facebook for htc sense is by forcing an uninstall using super manager. I been flashing a few ROMs recently and noticed it wouldn't work. I have no idea when it stopped working. I just found a ROM I liked and decided to start linking my accounts.
Oh, I was under the impression you were using the market Facebook. Try downloading it from the market. I never link my Facebook to HTC Sense, I skip it, and I download the one from the market.
yea not working either...

I recommend Synergy or Shooter(Joel's or wildstang's). They are solid roms.
I think it's a FB issue. It always worked for me but now won't work on any ROMs.

Seems to be working for em everytime I flash a new rom.
Check your Facebook Account>Security>Login Approvals setting from your PC. If it is set to Required, every time you flash a new ROM and reinstall a Facebook app, FB sees a new, unauthorized device and sends an SMS to the device with a numeric code for you to enter instead of your password.

Ive looked at this setting as it was suggested to me over in the thunderbolt-synergy thread, and it was disabled. Ive had this same problem for a couple days now after installing a new rom. Even going to a backup, it keeps telling me to re-enter my password when I try to sync my facebook account, and then tells me I entered a wrong user name or password. I do think it is a problem on facebooks end, but the weird thing is my girlfriend is having no problems with signing in to facebook for htc sense or the market facebook app.
I'll try the facebook account settings, but every ROM I flash it doesn't make a difference.

The facebook account settings didnt make a difference to me. Still wont let me sign in.
So I found a method that worked for me to fix HTC sense. I created a new email account with gmail and made it my new primary email with facebook. That's under account settings. Once I made it the new primary, i tried htc sense and it worked. Logged me right in. Let me know if this works I can give more detailed instructions per request.

Thank you. I was able to sign in after switching to my hotmail address as primary email. I wonder why we can't use our original email address. I was also able to sign into the market Facebook app.

Yea, I don't understand why it wouldn't accept the old email. I've flashed dozens of roms before and it didn't matter

It only seemed to be the Facebook for Htc sense and the market facebook app that wouldn't accept the old email. Seesmic had no problem signing in with my old email.
maybe you guys can help me with this problem. I recently had to hard reset my phone, but after re installing the app Facebook for HTC Sense it no longer tells me via notification bar which of my contacts has updated there facebook status. it used to show the people Icon with a syncing/refresh ring and tell me which of my contacts updated their status and pressing this would take me to my people app. is there anywhere on my phone where i can enable this? im on a Droid Inc

Gmail app won't send any emails

I searched in this forum already, but couldn't find this.
I'm having issues with sending emails with the gmail application. They just sit in the Outbox with a sending status. I've checked the sync settings, refreshed both from the sync section, as well as in the app. I even tried just text, as well as using attachments. And, no, they're not being received either.
I'm currently running the leaked OTA and the new radio.

Uninstalling fixed the issue. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I had done the same thing earlier, so restoring it from Titanium Backup may have been the issue...

That makes sense. I use titanium as well but don't backup up any of the google apps cuz they come preinstalled in roms. Pleasure to help ya bud.
My fiancee's Dinc quit syncing overnight. I've had her running Optimized Shift for almost a week now with no issues. Then this morning she work up and her gmail wasn't syncing? I thought it was a rom issue, but I will try reinstalling gmail and see if that helps.
Also, her phone doesn't seem to save text messages as drafts on this rom, as it did with the stock rom. Was this left out of this rom or am I missing where they are stored?
Let us know how uninstall/reinstall works.
I haven't used stock messaging app in months but I believe drafts are saved under Menu>Drafts in all versions from Sense 1.0-3.0. I'm on a Sense 3.0 rom with 3.0 messaging app but I think it's the same in your rom. I know mine used to have trouble saving drafts with no Sender but I know it worked fine if I had a contact in the Send box prior to saving the draft.

Are you saying Menu > Drafts, from within the stock messaging app? If so, that's where I thought it should be...but it's not, for some reason. These are drafts already addressed to a sender, in an ongoing thread. I know with the stock rom, she could do Menu > Drafts, no problem, but the options appears to be gone now. I believe optimized shift is Sense 3.0, but still, I can't imagine they would take that option out.

Email force closing?

Is anybody else having trouble with the email force closing all he time? I'm on a rooted p600.
Thanks

Rooted, no email problems, it's my most used app.
Enable My Magzine if you've disabled it. I read somewhere that it's somehow tied to the stock Mail App. Solved my Emal FC's.

That was one of the apps I deleted once I was rooted. Anyone know where I can get it?

I'd give you my backup, but I'm afraid that's odexd.Your best bet would probs be to extract it from a corresponding firmware package. Quick googling for it yielded no results.

Can't use voice to reply to SMS or email?

Hi all,
So far everything has been working smoothly but I've run into one issue with the 360 that I can't figure out. When I try to reply to an SMS it seems to do nothing vs. asking for a voice response, and for email, it just opens the app on the phone with a reply message waiting to be typed in.
I had thought that you could use voice to respond? I'm using a Nexus 4 with CM11 M11, and Google Now API 1.4 through Xposed.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks,
Ben

I had the same issue when I first got mine. I found that replys are currently only supported using Hangouts for SMS and the actual Gmail app for email. The stock SMS/email apps only support viewing. Once I switched them over everything worked perfectly.

Well that's lame. It's just like how Google leaves out an easy way to get unread counts for non-Gmail accounts in the beginning. Hopefully they adjust this.

There are several third party apps able to do it, like 8sms.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that. I've also found WearMail which seems to handle emails better, but given the low review count and the fact that it's a closed source app which asks for login credentials, I'm going to hold off on it for a while.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 12 Stock App Issue

Hello everyone,
Relatively new Android user here. I've been running Cyanogenmod 12 Nightlies on my Sprint HTC One m8, and for some reason, I cannot seem to get the messaging or email apps to work properly.
When I set CM Messenger as my default texting app, I can receive messages just fine, but when I go to send, it's as if the sending button is disabled. From what I can tell, setting Messenger as the default texting app should enable the send button, but that's simply not the case for me. The only info I've been able to find online said that Voice + caused this problem, but I think that was specific to CM 11. I don't recognize any apps on my phone that would be the Android L equivalent of Voice +.
As for Email, whenever I try to connect my gmail account, I get a message saying that verification couldn't be completed because the password is wrong. After this, the app closes automatically, and upon reopening it, the app seems to be hung up on syncing but never actually does anything. I've tried linking my account both automatically and manually — both methods yield the same result.
The odd thing is that 3rd party messaging and email apps work just fine. I've been using them as a workaround, but I'd really like to use the stock apps if possible! And aside from that, I'm totally stumped and would really like to figure out what is causing this issue. Any insight you could provide would be very much appreciated!

Update: I got the email app to work — I had the sync parameter set to never because I like to manually retrieve my mail, but it seems like that completely stops the app from syncing at all. It's still a little buggy, but at least it's working. Still no fix yet for SMS app.....

Hello,
Thanks for your reply! I have been using a third party sms app for the time being, but I'd still really like to figure out what's causing this issue. Call me a glutton for punishment I've searched a lot on XDA for a specific cyanogenmod Q&A, but I'm new here, and I'm finding the search interface a bit confusing. Could you post a link to the specific thread you're referring to?
