Hi,
I know there is somewhere around here the update of the new market.
However I have not installed it or anything and now my Desire Z has it, which makes me wonder if anyone having a Desire Z has also got it?
Because I also have a Desire and Wildfire but neither of them has got the update.
Thanks
*****EDIT ****** My wildfire and my Desire Z have got it, maybe I havent got it on the Desire since I am on a custom ROM.
Anyhow thanks
Google did say they would be rolling it out over the next few weeks. I haven't got it yet either.
But there's an .apk you can install if you want, over on the Apps forum.
I got it last night. It updated silently, without any notification, which i don't realy like...
New Market app looking good, just needs to get used to it. I don't mind for sharing an .APK if you want.

Market has always updated silently, it updates far more often than you know about, but most of the time it will just be bug fixes and not actual change so you will never notice.
The same method they use to update the market is how they can also remove banned apps you have installed (if installed via the market)

After they've removed "Free Advanced Task Manager" from my phone i switched to CM ROM (without GApps) for ~2 months and just now starting to use all that Google spyware-kit again. That's the only thing i hate about Google. Automatic app updates via Market su**s too IMO. They keep getting updates even if i've un-ticked "Allow automatic updating" box.

Thanks I have got it also, highly appreciate it anyhow
i updated my market app manually, but it seems this one is eating battery, there is a running program called alarmService Process: com.android.vending and its running... i didnt have this with my older market... is there any way to get the old version back?
It updated overnight sometime between tuedsay and wednesday. I liked the old one better, this one tries too hard to look like the app store
Don't think mine has updated, looks very much the same as before to me.

You'll know when it gets updated. They've revamped the looks of the interface quite a bit.

Last time I checked mine wasn't updated
I received the update, but not sure if I care for the new coverflow rip-off UI. Unnecessary eye candy. My battery life seems to be noticeably worse after the market update, anyone else seeing this?
My biggest question is does the new marketplace work properly with a non-gmail login for my Google account. I HATE gmail, and do NOT want a gmail address - yet Android Marketplace forced me to add one to my otherwise perfectly valid existing Google account.
Now the bloody gmail address has taken over (without asking me) my default Google and YouTube logins. Grrrr.....
And gmail, I have now found, has no technical support facility. At all. Period. Just a user forum, which seems pretty useless so far.
What a shambles of a way to operate a company that is providing the operating bedrock to phones selling for £500!

This is completely off topic. If you want to rant about Google, start a new thread.
Mine was just updated last night.
I noticed mine was updated about 6 hours ago. My G2 was at 9% battery life when I found out. I downloaded Tweetcaster (yeah, I took a dive and re-started my Twitter account), set up the widget and I still had 9% when I plugged it in, that was all of 10-15 minutes though so I can't comment on battery life.
I actually like the new market. So far, navigation is just as easy as it was before and looks much more refined and sleek than it did before. Personally (after consulting my iTouch's market with the new Android market), I saw a bigger resemblence to the iOS and Android markets BEFORE the update (back when both used block buttons). Since the update, there's a lot more curves and graphics in the Android Market than iOS (and I've looked at both...just now) and it just looks more appealing.
This is just IMO, but good job Google, I like it.
Went back to stock in hope of receiving market update. Nothing so far, am on the european desire z
I got the new Market this afternoon. Looks flashier but I find the carousel thing at the top of the screen doesn't work too well, and it's hard to flick it to the exact app that you want to look at without pressing on it. Maybe that's just me though ?

It does take a minute to load, wherein it's laggy, but after a minute or two the carousel works just fine for me (short swipes usually just move it one over).
The HTC YouTube app is no longer in the Marketplace, that I can find. It's not in HTC's section, and it's not in the regular section. The direct link below works in zune, but the app page says "unavailable".
I get why MetroTube was pulled, but I would expect HTC to have more pull or whatever with Google, and not be subject to that same issue.

Am I missing something?
I use m.YouTube.com and the full site. They work great.

AFAIK its been gone for awhile now.maybe since about December or so, those are good alternatives that I suggested tho.
Unfortunate
its unfortunate when device manufacturers pull their own apps, such as samsungs allshare here in the uk, but now that google has updated its m.youtube.com website, and mango's inherent ability to play youtube videos straight off the bat, perhaps HTC felt that their app was no longer necessary.
There are a few others on the marketplace, although ive never used any of them so unfortunately i wouldnt like to try and recommend any of them.
I hope they will reupload their sound enhancer app. It has gone since september/october. That really pisses me off...

I don't really miss it as much now that I got me some skullcandy headphones. I discovered that once u have a good audio system or some headphones with a good DSP its not even as needed.
I saw a demo online comparing s voice to google voice search, and of coarse for 95% of the things google won no contest, but I was surprised that s voice could say update twitter and give a message and work, where google could not do this at all yet. Just wondering if they are planning on it being able to do basically everything the other can but better?
You mean Google Now? I believe it comes with every phone/tablet that has JB. If we get JB on the S3 then we will get Google Now, unless they disable it so we become stuck with garbage S Voice.

I think OP is referring to have more control with Google Now like specific app or hardware controls.

Yes this is what I meant. Again if you look online for demos one of them shows that it works well, but still does not have full control or access to all apps and such, it literally gives an error that the feature is not working yet. I can only assume since it gives that actual error that they are planning on it having this ability soon, which makes since.

That feature doesn't appear to be available on any phone just yet, it just brings up a google search.
I dunno, I tried Google now and really didn't find it all that great. I couldn't launch apps or dictate what I want done on the app. s voice has been pretty solid for me.

Judging from the recent i9300 international JB leak, it looks like we will have access to both S-Voice and Google Now. So for those who prefer one over the other, it looks like SGS3 users will be able to use either which is good news. I was hoping that Samsung wouldn't remove Google Now from the JB rom when it comes out and so far looks good
I kinda hope they just put the ability to control apps in Google Now, I would not want to have to swap from one to the other just to ask a question, then swap to the other to launch an app. Might as well just launch it manually if your gonna have to do that each time. S Voice is only better for this one thing, ask it anything that requires it to look on the web for the answer and its slow as hell, Google Now is the best for this now, better than siri, so add in the app control and its the king.
I hope with the official JB release coming out soon we will find out for certain if Google Now will have full app controls like s voice.
S voice six because its developed by vlingo who IMO was the worst assistant app... I have the note with paranoid android 4.1.1 and Google now is awesome..until someone ports it to your device I recommend assistant from the Google play market

I have found out that the new camera app for the google edition phones works on our tablet, photosphere works phenomenally and i have found no issues with it at all .I am using the CYANOSAKI_FLEX rom. Because I cannot post links yet to get the camera go to android central and search " Get Photosphere on non-Nexus devices with the 'Google edition' camera app" it will be the first result.

Thanks guys. I was planning on testing it out but haven't gotten around to it yet. If all goes well I'll have it on my next update.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...nced-messaging-to-make-texting-more-powerful/
T-Mobile announced today that they are releasing the new Advanced Messaging capabilities to about a dozen devices, presumably the G3 is one of them. The features would include read receipts, seeing when others are typing, sharing high-res photos and videos, near real-time chat, and support across any device and network.
I haven't looked at anything about it yet, but I assume that it shouldn't be too difficult to port it over to the G3. It is likely just some APN modifications and a couple APKs and files.
I cant wait
Subscribing just in case the apk magically appears here, I've hunted high and low for it even on Galaxy Grand Prime T-Mobile demo phones and trying to update them and still see nothing but messages app.
Just a update...

it's not an app. its a technology. the SMS app devs are the ones who need to add the feature. t-mobile wont have an app for this. do you even read bro?

Some other user said that on the XDA Article just paraphrasing them, I believe Falcon has intentions of doing so, but right now it's still just a newborn baby it hasn't even gotten wide spread yet, RCS that is but it's barely even on one major phone right now. So we still got a good way to go first.
I really do hope RCS-SMS Messaging takes lead, for my friends who don't use messengers like FBIM or Kik and WhatsApp, I honestly hate using the painfully slow old and outdated sms, waiting nearly 30 mins sometimes for one sms to get delivered is ridiculous to me and due for a change.
