dropped my phone from a decent height, managed to crack the display but not the glass... guess the shock transferred through the case or something i really dont know. also managed to break wifi, whenever i try to tick the tab in settings it just immediately slides back to off as soon as i take my finger off. it was on oreo and i read that oreo might cause wifi problems so i rolled back to marshmallow, but same problem just slightly different presentation (flick tab, sits at on and tries to turn on for 60 seconds, flicks back to off and posts 'error' in the status line) even here on a fresh ruu.exe install, no modifications at all aside from twrp. any idea what might have happened and how to fix it? ill be taking it apart to replace the screen whenever it shows up so id like to know what to possibly be on the lookout for.
note that its not a problem trying to connect to wifi, wifi literally wont turn on.

I've been trying some WM6 roms on my M3100 (Black and two versions from Faria so far, along with HardSPL and the latest radio rom). While they all seem to work very stably for the most part, I find that if I turn the wireless on after a few minutes the phone starts reading constant tapping on the top right corner. So if I'm in landscape mode, the Start menu keeps popping in and out, and if I'm in portrait it hits the close button and everything I've got open disappears.
I've read about some Hermes having alignment issues, but I'm not sure this is to do with alignment, it seems to read other taps correctly if I touch the screen while it's malfunctioning, but it doesn't stop reading tapping in the top right.
A soft reset or turning the wireless off usually cures it for a while, but as soon as the Wi-Fi is on it can start again. If I turn the phone off fully, it seems to last longer when the Wi-Fi is on. It's almost like it's overheating and turning it off means it starts off cooler and has longer to heat up. Black was much worse than Faria's for this, as it had more stuff running by default. I had a devil of a time getting it stable enough for ActiveSync to work so I could flash something else.
I've tried searching the forums and I couldn't see anything, but I might not be using the right search terms. Has anyone seen this before and can you offer any advice/fixes? If not I'll probably make the long slog back to WM5!
Thanks for any help you can give.
This is a common problem with the Hermes. Search for touchscreen problems and you'll find you're not the only one with the problem. My previous one had the exact same symtoms, only it did it when the ambient temp was about 90F or so. I'd advise you to either look at getting it repaired, or look for another one. It's not going to fix itself

also try the business card fix on your hermes maybe your screen protector is hitting or the foam liner inside has jammed itself. or maybe something like a piece if dirt has lodged itself in there. there are many things that could cause this some being hardware other being dirt dust chunks of stuff
If it appears when it heats up (sounds like it does), chances are you're looking at a repair/warranty. Just sent one in to HTC with the same problem. I replaced the screen myself and thought for a day or two it was fixed, but as soon as it went on the charger for the first time the phantom tapping returned.
Thanks for the help guys! I'll have a look and see if there's anything trapped in the corner or if the seal is pressing on it and if not I'll get it repaired/swapped.
unfortunately, my M3100 does the same problem as yours, photoboy..
i noticed the problem starts when the pda gets warm..
anyway, tomorrow i'll take the "toy" to warranty.. and see how it can be fixed
I'll start off by saying I have a rooted R800x using the stock rom (but this problem stems back to before it was rooted).
When I turn off my screen and go to put it in my pocket, I sometimes notice the screen comes back on for no apparent reason. This is a problem because I use widgetlocker to replace my lockscreen. So, my leg will start up pandora or xiaalive unintentionally and then I have a dead battery in a couple hours because of the constant data stream (muted phone means I don't know it's running).
I'm curious if anyone else has this problem or has any solutions if they know what it could be. I don't think I'm sliding the phone enough for it to come back on. A lot of times, I notice it happens a couple seconds after I turn the screen off and move the phone down to my pocket. I always do a double take now just to make sure the screen is off before putting it in.
Thanks.
HI,
I guess others have had this problem but i cant really find the answer.
I have a problem with proximity sensor that i have to press the phone at the top left side in order to switch it off after its on. It works fine like that when i test it at service tests but when i don't press the phone at the top left side it does not turn off most of the time. Yesterday i also had problems that the screen was off for few minutes at high light no matter what i did. since i finished what i had with phone i did not remove the battery to see if the problem will repeat, all i did after the screen was on, was a reboot but i did not have the chance to test it again at direct sunlight again.
I don't have something on top of it, all i have is the screen protector that came with the phone.
it is with unlocked bootloader, stock rooted rom, supercharged and with removed bloatware software's. this is all i can remember to tell for my phone, i have never tried other custom rooms since i did not have the time because of school.
The phone is new, not even 2 months old, hope i don't have to send it to repair.
Hello,
I'm running the W03 Slim on my Canadian Note II, and almost every time wifi has been disconnected for a bit (i.e. during commutes) the wifi shuts off by itself and refuses to turn back on. Pressing the wifi on-off button shifts the position of the button to "on" but no networks appear. If I leave the wifi settings page and go back, the wifi is back in the "off" position.
This has been happening consistently since I moved to Denmark from Canada about a month ago. Things I've tried, based on search results:
-changing wifi region code to Europe (no option for Denmark or Scandinavia)
-wiping caches
-taking out and putting back in sim card
-taking out battery and letting it sit for a minute before putting the batter back
-re-flashing the rom
Luckily I've found out that the issue can be stopped with a reboot or by switching airport mode on and off, so it's not that bad of a problem. That said, if anybody's got any ideas for fixes, I'd appreciate hearing about them, as I'm worried that I'll forget to check one time while I'm at home and will eat up all of my limited data.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hey have you found a fix for your wifi problem?
I have the same problem.... started like a month ago and sometimes wifi would just work but most of the time its dead....
I have tried reflashing a stock rom ... and all the AOSP, AOKP, CM11 Roms I could find and still no go...
Anyone have this problem too? I need my wifi !!!!
Edit: ok, it looks like my problem was with the replacement housing i bought on ebay. since i first dropped my phone on a street pavement... the chrome edges were all messed up so in order to replace that, i had to replace the whole housing for the phone... everything looked exactly the same as the original but i guess just a couple millimeters off can make a big difference... took a long time to find the problem... snapping the main board back into the housing and taking it out again....not fun. So if anyone needs to do any housing replacement and you get this problem too, just hit me up with a pm and i'll show you what i did!
Cheers!
Simple fix to wifi.. apparently this phone has a faulty antenna.. bad spring or connector. Slap the back of the phone a few times on yur leg or hand. Antenna is located top back right of phone. Its a quick fix. It worked for me. After flashing n restoring everything I could think of this worked!!! Just now. Or u can search fix note 2 antenna and take back off to clean etc.. b just whack it!
I am having a somewhat similar problem. My Wi-Fi sees saved networks, but does not connect automatically or even remember passwords.
I have an N900T that I use around the house for casting to my Chromecasts. It has been working fine until a few days ago when I couldn't get it to connect to my WiFi. Upon further inspection, I realized that it wasn't even allowing me to turn the WiFi on. I tested bluetooth and tethering, neither of which worked either. I tried a factory reset, reinstalling the factory touchwiz, upgrading to the newest touchwiz, and even installing an aosp rom to try to rule out software problems. I opened the phone and made sure all of the ribbons were still connected. I think the ribbon in the top right corner of the phone, when looking at it from the back, may have been a little loose, but I'm not sure if it had been disconnected. Either way, all of the connections are tight and secure now, but I still cannot get my WiFi to turn on. I'm not sure what else to try.
I'd prefer not to buy another logic board without knowing for sure that's the problem. Is there anything else I could try on the software side? Is that a part that could just stop working like that? The phone doesn't get abused, it just sits on an end table most of the time. Thanks for any help.
