Which kernel should i use with pixel experience? - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

I am using pixel experience latest build i.e. 26-05-2018. Which kernel should i use i dont play games I just want battery life and coolness. Should i flash thermal mod after that?

Instead of flashing a custom kernel, use AKT. Safer and better

I'm using Nameless Kernel, and it gives more SoT than the default Kernel.

Whick kernel? stock or custom?

I'm getting ready to install the January update with magisk. I have been using the stock kernel all along. Was wondering if you guys had sounds better performance and or battery life with any one of these custom kernels. I don't care really about features, just performance and stability.
What would you recommend?
I've subscribed as I'm about to try the Flash kernel. I will be curious to see what others say.

If you're only in it for performance and stability then you should probably just stay on the stock kernel. Most kernel devs readily admit the kernel is exceedingly efficient and they can only make tiny incremental improvements in battery life. That and any Google security fixes are built into the stock kernel so you will have them right away. Custom kernels are regularly updated to include the security fixes that come in the stock kernel. What a custom kernel will give you is much more control over many aspects such as color control, battery monitoring, gesture control, vibration, etc. I've been using EX Kernel with the additional Kernel Manager (EXKM) and couldn't be happier with the results, and continual dev support on the last 4 devices I've owned. The kernel resides in boot.img so you already have modified that if you are running Magisk so it's easy to revert. To remove the kernel, simply reflash the stock boot.img and it will be gone.

every user uses phone different. so no best kernel. also different tweaks in all kernels.
i recommend kirks
Lineage Official with Blackbox Kernel
(Not Tested but Good Screen On Time)
i have tested few kernels that are good and didnt have any glitch/error after flashing, i suggest codeX kernel if you want more customization and Derp kernel for simple kernel .

Speculations about custom Kernel

Hello,
i new user of Redmi Note 5 pro, so i want to start using this shiny phone
Im looking for most smooth kernel for our phone
I heard a lot of Kernels like icecold, kirks
but half of opinions was bad about them
So im asking what kernel is most stable and smooth? just to flash and forgot about him with keep in mind that this kernel is better than stock
make a twrp backup and (boot) and test some kernels.

Bad for me, i dont have too much time for this ( you know, work, family )
Thaths why in asking
test InsigniuX , its miui compatible.

i had forked the Version x8.1 Source in the past as a base to build a kali nethunter compatible kernel (the version was fast, stable + good battery runtime). The Dev also uses good Toolchains to build the Kernel.
after you flash a kernel, you should wipe the cache/dalvik and you have to reflash magisk if used.
test this kernel (non EAS Version)

Best performance for a custom Kernel i have tested on the Note 5 yet
greets

I can confirm, purecoffee is awesome on MIUI, Sadly not compatible with MIUI Pie
the non EAS Version works well on MIUI pie
use the latest TWRP to install, redfox and co have Problems with the device detection in the updater-script
with the EAS Version the device booted to fastboot prompt.

How does it perform compared to stock kernel? I have no complaints on performance but better battery life is always welcome.

Returned to stock kernel, better battery stats to my phone. Curious about eas version, but reported here to boot to fastboot. Thanks anyway.

For battery backup, i recommend PureCAF and IceCold
For heavy gaming, i recommend KangarooX and Stormguard, Agni is also great for gaming but it's not yet rebased on pie fw.
