I've been using my S4 Mini since it was introduced. For the last year it was being used exclusively for accepting Square payments. Now the Square app doesn't work and Square says I need android 5.0 to run their app.
For the last few days I've been looking around trying to figure out if I should root the phone and install new mod or just move on.
Honestly I'm stuck on the model issue. Someone just posted a thread "Galaxy S4 Mini i9195i best Android version" and I've seen I9190, I9192, too. Mine is SCH-1435. One article said that some mods will brick certain models so proceed with excessive caution.
I've rooted before but it's been years, with that being my Samsung Epic 4G.
Can someone please help guide me with the S4 Mini?

I'm quite new to android.. since i've been with fore quite a while now, so this whole rooting thing is brand new to me,
i sort of heard that i can somehow enable multiwindow on my phone, so thats the big reason im going for it.
Can you tell me if i should or should not?

i believe that is the same as the AT&T version. i would check that forum and the international forums as well. i feel you on the multiwindow. i'm on a US Cellular note 2 which doesn't actually have that update with it yet. so i had to modify sprints update to work with the us cellular note

Android Noob here wondering if you can give me some advice for my Sister in Law.
She's just got a Galaxy Ace and can't get Song Pop on it. From a little bit of reading up I understand it's not compatible on an ARMv6 device.
However my other sister in law tells me she has the same phone and installed Song Pop about 6 months ago.
Is there any way I can port if from one device or another.

Well, does she know anything about Android? Because if it's not compatible with an ARMv6, that means she got the port and installed it manually. Otherwise it wouldn't work.

Looks like we did buy a mistake. As far as I know, no there are no custom recoveries and ROMs. Someone said people have made debloated but I haven't seen anything. Nobody likes to give a straight answer as well. I guess we are SOL for now.

im new here, i just bought this machine Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T215 LTE almost a month ago with the hope to satisfy my cravings in customizing/modding androids to its best for daily usage. its been almost a month trying to search for updates/development for SM-T215. i even tried rooting methods from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681596 , framaroot, z root, universal root for android and a couple more from google search.
All methods failed and im getting sick and tired of having my games and apps deleted for new ones due to insufficent space taken up by bloatwares. Am at the verge of giving up on this device and planning to have it trade in for tab 10.1.
humbly asking someone kind enough to give me their point of view or anything with regards to SM-T215 projects.
willing to get my device to be a lab rat for test runs.

I've been given my brother's old phone, a Galaxy S4 Mini SCH-I435 Verizon running 4.2.2, and wanted to see if there was any development at all happening for this specific variant of the S4 Mini. it shares the same hardware as the serranoltexx variants, but I haven't found conclusive proof of this particular model having any sort of recovery or custom ROMs. I've rooted the phone and disabled KNOX just fine, I just need to know where I'm supposed to look from here.
I have a Moto Droid Razr as my daily running the LineageOS 20171110 14.1 build at the current. this sort of thing isn't new to me, I'm just reaching out for possible definitive answers to this plight I'm in. 4.4.2 is *not* acceptable to be using on a phone in this day and age. Has anyone ever actually gotten one of these to work properly with the serranoltexx ROMs? I know they share the same hardware, but I'm more worried about bricking the phone than I was doing it with the Razr since that has endless information about it out there, yet the I435 information, if any, is flooded by model name for the international LTE variant of the same base hardware.

An edit: I've found actual proof that the bootloader is locked. the S4 from Verizon and AT&T also had this issue, and it turns out that the developer of Safestrap for my own daily-driver Razr, @Hashcode, also made one for the Verizon S4 non-mini. This excites me, yet pains me, as I don't think the two are hardware-compatible, meaning one would have to be made up somehow for this phone. Sadly, I think interest in the Verizon variant of this phone has dwindled to nothing. I'd love to have an AMOLED LineageOS device available to me that actually has more than a gig of RAM.

Could you explain this for me?
I too have a SCH-i425 that I've been using since it was released. For the last year or so I've been using it exclusively to accept Square payments but recently Square changed their app so it will not work on pre-android 5.0 versions. My phone is 4.4.2. I'm hoping to upgrade it to 5.0 so I can continue using it as I've been otherwise I have to buy a new phone which I really, really, do not want to do.
