I would like to build an Android car infotainment device to replace all my gadgets inside the car. One option would be a micro PC with USB touchscreen and a lot of devices connected via USB. The other one would be an Android gadget, either small tablet or TV box.
The biggest question I have is: what Android devices support 5.1 audio? This is a must, though I actually can use only 4 channels. What audio formats are supported for this?
The other question would be TMC - the FM kind, not online.
Are there any embedded platforms out there (except PC and Android) which support multi-channel audio?
Has anyone done this before? I might be reinventing the wheel.
No updates? Either nobody knows about Android 5.1 sound output or they are working under NDAs.
Are you planning on keeping a headunit to control volume, do you want am/fm radio, etc....
without a headunit you will need an amp where you can use the headphone to rca adapter and usually its the amp that would add front and rear to the left/right output of your android device so you would still get the 4 chan output effect. to go for the 5.1 chan you will need another device that actually controls the 5 speakers plus the subwoofer which might be tricky but I'm sure its not impossible.
the setup I was going to go with was a amp that I can mount its power controls (left right front back and volume) (or amp/eq combo) to where I can reach it and build a mount for a 7in (possibly diff size not sure depends on how it will look) and use the heaphone to rca adapter to power the audio and put the usb inside the dash possibly with a little hub if they make it (that way not only is it getting power from it, if it allows, the addition of say a thumb drive with added music/movies. some tablets/phones have fm radios built in as long as something is plugged into the headphone jack (my new phone doesn't seem to have it but thats a feature I will be looking for in a tablet)
4chan amp
eq that would allow 2 chan in and 4 chan out plus sub out (if you have a separate sub amp)
I just want to know if there are any android devices that are able to stream 5.1, I can take it from there. Same question about TMC support.
Some details:
My car is already fitted from the factory with 4 channel preamp and 12 speakers including subwoofer low-pass. It has low-level input for those channels, worst case I would buy a preamp.
FM is pretty much given on most Android devices, probably excluding some tablets, but I won't actually miss it if it's not there.
TMC would be nice since all Androids usually have a GPS sensor and sometimes compass.
Anyway, it was mostly a request for suggestions or even a rant - I'm surprised that something like this doesn't exist yet. With the exception of dedicated units going >$$$-$$$$, an alternative set-up would be a medium-range blueray player coupled with an Android tablet. Music control could be set up with DLNA, bluetooth streaming or mixing player and android audio would be a bit harder but not impossible.
hey friends
this is a nice thought and you are absolutely great.

Hi,
Currently I'm also thinking about installing an android tablet in my car to have music, navigation, movie player, speed camera warning, etc. But the biggest problem is the sound. I want to connect tablet with car audio using jack-jack cable. Everything is fine till the AUX source is selected in car audio device, but when I switch it to Tuner or CD - the sound from tablet is cutted off, so e.g. navigation announcement are not heard.
Any suggestions for this issue?
audio rom
its a shame that there are many many roms but none fur special purposes like this.

Only solution can see is to run the audio from the tablet alone. I.e. use the tablet to provide both radio tuner AND navigation. You will end up using the car system purely as an amplifier.

This would be what I would do in this situation. Or just unplug the audio cable from the tablet when using other radio options so the navigation will come through the tablet's speakers.
I want to do something similar but rather than purchase a new device I want to use my Note2. No head unit at all. The Note2 would likely be dedicated to this use and I'd get a different phone to use as, well, a phone.
For sound I was hoping I could use USB OTG to connect a USB sound card with 5.1 output but I'm not sure if this would work. I want to use the sound card instead of audio direct out of the headphone jack because that reduces my connected cables to just one (easier) and should provide at least 4 channel output which eliminates the need for another device to control volume, fader, and balance.
For radio I was going to use SDR for AM/FM (and more) via a cheap USB TV tuner.
http://sdrtouch.com/
Where I'm stuck now is that I'd like to be able to connect an iProduct (iPhone/iPod) like you can to most car radios and control/stream music from the iProduct, via the Android Note2 using USB OTG again. I cannot find how to do this but the Parrot Asteroid Smart runs Android and it seems to be able to do it so it must be possible.
http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/asteroid-range/parrot-asteroid-smart/
Any info anyone can provide regarding the sound card and iPod integration would be highly appreciated.
You can go wireless and use some AirPlay receiver for Android.
I don't know about wired solutions, the classic iPod connector has ~30 pins and some of them are used for audio and some of them are used for serial-like playlist control plus current track information.

It's just a USB to iPod cable that they use for everything else... Parrot Asteroid Smart that I linked to has it as do most modern stock head units.
Did a little more googling and it seems several companies sell android head units that support iPod.
Why don't you use a USB DAC? There are a few out there that are surround sound capable.
Out from the DAC into an eq preamp and out to your existing amplifier. The eq preamp has main volume controls as well as sub control with dedicated output.
Also there are head units out there that are just "receivers" capable of accepting a digital inputs and outputting 5.1 signal via RCA.
I installed a nexus 7 2013 in my VW, currently using Bluetooth to connect to a receiver where it the outputs to an rca input on my deck that was relocated to my glovebox. I am planning on replacing the Bluetooth adaptor with a USB DAC in order to achieve a higher quality sound.
I am currently doing a similar install in a 2010 charger, a deck will not be used however as I will be using the DAC method with an eq and output to the factory amp. I considered going the android TV box route as I have a MINIX box, but there is some work involved in getting the touchscreen to function properly as it is not set up for this out of the box.
You can purchase a double din deck from eBay (I stumbled across it a few days ago but didn't write the link down) it has a dual os system. It uses android for the car audio function and windows for the car PC function. Not sure how well it works but it got reasonable reviews.
Edit: ...and once again I answer without reading the whole thread...:silly:
Is it somehow easier to get all the various apps on the phone to output audio to a DAC than a USB sound card?

I believe when the device detects a DAC (must use an otg cable BTW) it automatically re routes all audio out the USB. You can disable automatic USB audio routing in developer settings.

That sounds easier. Thanks for the tip.
Well I can't find any information regarding the iPod integration and I've found next to nothing for DVD video and audio CD playback and radio and backup camera functionality would also take some mucking about so it looks like I'd probably be better off buying something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-Android-4...621?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a31320af5
Which has it all sorted out already. So much for that fun idea. No idea what apps they use for all that stuff.

That unit looks slow at only dual-core. It will probably be sluggish when multi-tasking.
The main chip probably supports several I2S devices (aux in/adc, tuner/adc, DVD) and routing plus demuxing is done via linux hardware control.
The DVD player and tuner probably support the i2c or spi protocol to control seeking and other functions. This is again controllable via the linux devices.
Usually the consumer devices don't have these easily exposed and it's probably a non-trivial task to piggyback on existing hardware, assuming the needed connections are broken out on the board. As far as I can see the only Android devices with CD or DVD are the car players like above.
Another option would be to take the sound from the HDMI signal. A DVD player/tuner can be wired in parallel with an HDMI switcher. However controlling the tracks would not be easy, it would require emulating the remote with an IR transmitter.
I am using Kodi on my Fire TV and noticed that the movies are only playing in stereo mode. The Dolby settings on the Fire TV itself are set to automatic and trailers play in surround sound. Are there settings in Kodi that need to be modified? Any help is appreciated!

Go to the audio output settings in Kodi, and make sure you are on the expert level. Put the number of channels to 2.0, passthrough enabled, and select all the audio formats at the bottom.
Yes I'm struggling getting surround sound as well, have lived with it up until now as usually everything I'm watching says 2.0 stereo, but last night actually found something that said 5.1 and I wasn't getting any sound from that! lol
Have tried different settings (as above) but still no sound through my amp, have only just really started looking into it but nothing worked in all the different guides I tried.
Will hopefully get this sorted soon, there are quite a few settings in the expert mode so will hopefully get round to trying them all, it's just having to go back and forth after changing the set up that's the pain lol

I have an HDMI connection, when playing a 5.1 video I can see the front left/right speaker icons stuttering on my amp (usually it would show all 5 speakers) and no sound comes through. I suppose it could be the stream but think it's probably my settings...
Is the amp supposed to convert even when playing a 2.0 stream or does it have to be a 5.1? I have always assumed it has to start as 5.1 which is why I've left it until now

Some amps will convert a 2.0 audio stream into a fake 5.1 stream, but it's an actual setting on the amp. Do you have DD audio set to On in the settings for the AFTV? What brand is the amp?

Yes I've set it to DD Plus via HDMI and have now pretty much tried all the settings in the audio options including 2.0, 5.1 and also (my setup) 7.1 but none seem to work, have also tried changing the Output config, Stereo upmix, Resample quality, Keep audio device alive but nothing is happening, still getting no sound when it displays 5.1 DD on the stream, even tried another episode and the same thing.
My amp is a Sony STR-DA3600ES which is DTS capable but like I say the speaker icons flicker when playing the stream so there's definitely something not quite right
I have never had problems with anything else so think I may have to just give up on this Kodi problem

Here are my exact settings, and 5.1 audio plays perfect. If these settings don't work for you, then it might be that the AFTV doesn't play well with your amp when connected with HDMI. I bought a Denon amp a few weeks ago, and no matter what the settings were, I couldn't get 5.1 audio to work. I returned the Denon, and bought a Yamaha, and 5.1 audio plays perfectly. Another thing you can try, is run an optical cable from the AFTV to the Sony, and see if that works. Make sure you go into the AFTV settings and change the audio output from HDMI, to optical. You may also want to try a new HDMI cable.

Cheers Lennie, I thought about changing the HDMI cable so will definitely try that when I get home, if not will try optical as I didn't even think of that lol
Have tried your settings already (although didn't have the volume on downmix option) with no luck so the cable changes are the only thing left, will let you know how I get on... :good:
I managed to have a look at this last night (after searching various forums) and thought I would try XBMC to see if anything broke in Kodi 14.1, so installed the last Gotham built SPMC (13.4.0) but that had exactly the same results.
Pulled out all my equipment to change the HDMI cable over but that made no difference either, so plugged in an optical cable, changed the audio input on my amp and changed the AFTV to DD over optical and had 5.1 sound straight away :good:
So looks like there's something strange with Kodi/XBMC when trying to get 5.1 surround using HDMI on some amps...

Glad you got it sorted out. Like I said, I bought a new Pioneer a few weeks ago, and couldn't get the audio to work using HDMI. I returned it and bought a Yamaha, and it works perfectly. The only reason I figured it out, was when the audio wasn't working, I took the AFTV and hooked it up to my other home theater setup, and it worked fine with my Denon receiver. The audio was making a really high pitched static sound when using the Pioneer. My Xfinity box's audio worked fine with the Pioneer, so I know it was the AFTV, not the Pioneer, that was the issue.

That's because Passthrough has been enabled, which means your receiver is doing the audio decoding.
Interesting. If I remember correctly I did not have to do that with SPMC Gotham 13.2, strange.
I know this is not the right spot but maybe someone could help me. I just got my shield console and it is sending multi channel audio to my receiver. I DO NOT want multi channel audio i want 2.0 audio. Does anyone know a way to NOT send multi channel audio?
Very helpful thread thanks!
Just a query though...
If I have 'Number of channels' set to 2.0 and have 'Stereo Upmix' on the reciever seems louder and high quality but with vocals coming out of all speakers which to me it should be centre speaker only. But if I have 'Stereo Upmix' off the centre channel is vocal only which to me is perfect but the quality is lower.
Is it just how it is or am I doing something wrong?
Running Fire tv stick (quad core version) running to Onkyo reciever.

FYI, if you want to keep DTS Passthrough, don't upgrade KODI past 16.1 Jarvis. DTS passthrough is gone in Krypton on AFTV because that "Android" standards require API 23 (Marshmallow/Android 6.0) to "officially" support DTS and AFTV is still on API 22 (FireOS based on Android 5 Lollipop). I don' t see Amazon updating to a Marshmallow based image for FireOS anytime soon. It is a sad day.
Also if you want dts passthrough you can't enable "sync playback to display" otherwise it's going to passthrough as Dolby digital.

I am having the same issue!
I have a Ford Focus and a KLD RK3066 unit. I've updated my HU many times, using more than 5 different firmwares and every time the SYNC app is MUTED. There must be something wrong with the sound output, as mentioned!!
NOTE FOR NON FORD OWNERS: SYNC is a hardware (that is controlled by the HU in an app with the same name) that comes with the car that controls native bluetooth calling and music playing. It can be used together with the HU, using the car's much better microphone and USB connector. Losing this function is really bad for a Ford owner.
Please some help!

hi, Im also a ford focus owner and i have rk3188 HU (KGL5) you should check in the factory settings the CANbus option. My sync apk works great (spanish) and sounds a little bit lower than the HU sound, so try to max the vol (maybe it is, sometimes if im at level 9 sound i cant hear it, i usually place at 20 vol level). I´ve used some malaksys ROM and i had no problem, and today i upgraded the MCU and still works. Now im having some FC but i think with a factory reset it will solve. The app also works with steering wheel controls, (if a press the SYNC key in it calls the app)
Hi, i have a Erisin ES2301F (1024x600 Rk3188 KGL) with a Ford Kuga MK1 (2009). CanBus module HW 1.0 FW 2.0. In Factory Menu (126) i put Focus-Modeo-Explorer (Simple) but SYNC doesn't work. How can i made it doing something...
In the past i had a Sony CD6000 BT, and i removed only the head unit ( i leave the BT module connected and it seem still powered) but the SYNC app doesn't do anything. I connect the cell with BT of the headunit, or i have to do a new search? I don't see any BT source than the one of the Erisin.
Add:
The question is: maybe with another ROM, i could view which door is opened, what temperature i have set in the climatronic and so on? I'm sure those signals are on canbus of my car (Kuga Titanium) 'cause i read on the cluster of the display of the car, and i see some chinese radio that showing those info. One for all is the Joying.
If those info will pass on the radio, also SYNC should works, 'cause in the electric diagram original mic and original BT are on canbus, all connected directly to GEM.
So, OR the decode module don't works..... or the MCU is so different that doesn't capture those signal.
Someone have the answer?
I have a Ford Escape but I have not figured out how to wire in my canbus to this radio (I have a joying). Can someone point me to the right direction?

Hi,
first, try to set Ford Focus Raise in factory canbus setting.
second, check if you have connected AUX L and AUX R cinches to corresponding ones (auxL to Aux L and aux R to aux R) in your harness.
I have so in my Focus and SYNC is ok, but the layout and maintenance of the app is horrible.

What are the AUXL and AUX R cinches?? In the quadlock Ford , i have CAN L e CAN H connected to Quadlock of the radio, then they go to decoder box and returned on the radio into the special connector.
in my case - as in uploaded photo, nr 2, white and red chinches
In my case is total differenti. I have only the quadlock . all signals coming from there. No RCA chinches. Maybe you have a focus 3 (2012+). My canbus decoder has only one connector
I think my Escape (2011) with SYNC isn't supported at all. I cant find any wiring harness that works with Joying. I know where my Canbus wires are and could splice them in but I can't even find a generic canbus joying harness.

Hello everyone,
Big thanks to the heavy hitters here that are making these units actually usable!
I received my Dasaita HA5217-V600 two weeks ago and thanks to having previously scoured these forums, I was able to install it, in my 2016 Toyota Corolla, with relative ease. Everything worked better than expected, and I had great bluetooth sound, strong WiFi connections, my door and A/C controls appeared on screen, my SWC all matched and decent FM reception. My bluetooth OBDII adapter is arriving this week so I'll have to report back on that.

My OBDII adapter arrived today and it immediately paired with my HU, and Torque Pro recognized it instantly! I'm thrilled at how easy this was.
For those interested, this is the adapter I purchased:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y6HLRKY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So to recap:
My unit is:
MTCD HA5217-V600
10.2 " PX5 1.6 gHz, Octa-core, 2Gb/32Gb
Malaysk v5 ROM and MCU: MTCE v2.65f
Installed in 2016 Toyota Corolla S (6 speaker audio w/o factory "Entune" navigation system) and Rockford-Fosgate Prime's in both front and back.
SWC = all preprogrammed settings match my OEM settings, although they are unconfigurable.
Bluetooth connections have not yet dropped, volume and clarity are on pair with my previous Pioneer HU
Panel buttons all work and LEDs are configurable
Door and A/C controls all appear on screen.
GPS is fast and seemingly accurate so far. Recognized by every app that has looked for it.
OEM vehicle status listed properly in the 'vehicle' section
Amp/Fader/ViperFX all work as expected
WiFi connections are strong enough for my purpose. I can connect to my home WiFi from inside my garage.
AM/FM Reception and clarity are better than the stock system
Screen is bright and usable and auto-dims with Headlights on
Daylight brightness is a little difficult to see. (Then again I live in Florida and the tropical Sun made even my JVC, and Pioneer HU's difficult to see. Kenwood was the best for this IMHO)
OBDii interfaced paired quickly and easily and has so far stayed connected and recognized by apps
OEM Rear-view camera connects to the system without issue and is much easier to see on a 10" screen. As well as now having several configurable options in the "factory settings"
OEM USB port is recognized as well as the 2 additional USB ports included with the HU.
HOWEVER, the OEM AUX audio port is not usable with this configuration. (or if it is, I haven't figured out how to configure/access it yet)
I do not have a DAB+ or Front Camera, TV tuner/DVR so I do not have any information to share about those.
I tested the A/V in with a portable DVD player and there were no unusual issues there.
Over all I am very happy with this unit and am thrilled that I took the risk investing in it.
One more BIG thanks to everyone here who has helped to make these HU's worth it!
Thanks for the detailed write up. I just ordered mine. Px5 7 inch 2gb ram dasaita. Any tips for a newbie? I've been browsing the forums myself for the past couple of weeks and I'm aware of all the mods and custom ROMs etc. Just asking you if there's maybe any advice you wanna give on how I should proceed with the unit or just generally anything that might help.
Appreciate any reply
I have Dasaita/Hotaudio HA2100-v600 7" device and happy - it works here good!

Hi, I'm a fellow Corolla owner in FL As well!
I just bought a Dasaita PX3 2GB RAM 16GB (Quad core vs your 8 core PX5 due to it being close to $300 flat on an ebay flash sale) and have a question regarding the AUX port, you said the stock USB was retained but not the AUX, is there an aux port on your unit or any way to hook one up?
-Where did you mount the GPS antenna?
-Are you using the stock interface, or have you tried any launchers? I downloaded auto mate and Car Launcher free and so far like Car Launcher's look.
-Anything unusual with your unit?
-Have you tested Waze and Google maps? Do they run stable?
-Does your unit pickup your wifi automatically when you startup the car?
I appreciate your very detailed post as I'm patiently waiting for mines to arrive within the next week.

I have a question regarding the AUX port, you said the stock USB was retained but not the AUX, is there an aux port on your unit or any way to hook one up?
*Sad to say that I have not yet found a way to use the AUX port, but then again I haven't tried very hard.
-Where did you mount the GPS antenna?
*I mounted mine on the passenger side dashboard, as far right and forward as it would go. It blends right in as far as I am concerned.
-Are you using the stock interface, or have you tried any launchers? I downloaded auto mate and Car Launcher free and so far like Car Launcher's look.
*I Bought Car Launcher Pro. By far the best overall. It has been steadily updated, has a great look/feel, easy to modify and the most stable.
-Anything unusual with your unit?
*Nothing that I can think of. I'm still in love with it!
-Have you tested Waze and Google maps? Do they run stable?
*I don't use Google Maps, but I have Waze autostart. I'm dependent upon it now! Lots of threads here about Google Maps not working well.
-Does your unit pickup your wifi automatically when you startup the car?
*as of HA-2.75 it does.
You |may| have to trim a piece or 2 off the bezel to get it to fit perfectly in your dash. I had to cut off 2 tabs on top of my PX5.
Good luck!
I have a similar 9" unit.
Running Malaysk v5 ROM and MTCE v2.71 as the bluetooth for 2.75 didn't work well.
I do have the DAB+ aerial and app and it works ok however mostly I use Google music. I have no problems using Waze or copilot.
What I haven't been able to do is get my reversing camera to show on the screen. I have a wireless version and both halfs have leds that light up when the car is in reverse but no picture regardless of which connection I use.
Also I can't get it to connect to a ELM357 OBD2 dongle.
I've had the unit for 4 months and last week while driving to work the screen went black, the unit was still working it was just the screen. The next time I started the car the screen came back....weird.
Other then this the units ace!

Just to give you a quick update, I received my PX3 unit about a week ago and installed it. At first I encountered one main bug which was that the radio app would go to the background automatically every time I opened it, dasaita sent me the link to the MCU thread and everything updated fixing the issue.
As far as launchers go, I stuck with Car Web Guru for now as it gave the most options on a free basis to experiment with different themes.
The only thing I've noticed is that the backup camera image is a little laggy but nothing to die for.
The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is how to get my wifi hotspot to start automatically (Note 8) when connected to CAR KIT, I tried tasker but it says unable for my device.
I love this HU! and Dasaita on ebay has been very responsive.

Hello I have bought a Dasaita HA2039-S720 for Mitsubishi Outlander 2014. I have the same Issue with my Radio App. Everytime I open it, it goes in background. Kill it with the Task Manager can't stop the Music. I have to reboot the Device. I have MCU Version MTCE_HA_V2.75.1 and ROM px3-userdebug 7.1.2NHG47L eng.hct.20171206.143935 test-keys.
Did a system update realy fix your Problem? I noticed that this happend every time a station is scanned and saved. Delete the Cache and Programm Data from Radio App in the App section fixed the issue but you have no music then but white noise.
I have some Issues with apps in general. Sometimes Apps are crashing and did not load properly and stuck while loading.
My OEM Rear CAM Image is laggy and not very smooth too.
Today I tried to update die Rom with this Version HCT2_px3_7.1(20180206) but it failed. Don't know if it's the right one. The Device found this Image and promptet me to update. After a short loading screen a Faild message appeared on the screen and it showed an options screen. I inserted another SD CARD with the image of the update and choosed "update from SD or USB" but it failed again so I rebooted the system. I choose swipe in the beginning and after a reboot the system was in factory condition.
But can anybody explain me what went wrong and how to properly make a Rom and MCU update.
Thanx
Hey guys I just wanted to become a part of this I just purchased and installed this type radio along with the Bluetooth adapter for the cars computer. Hopefully I will soon get the ATSC digital antenna so I can watch TV when my wife goes in to shop for something that will supposedly: "only take a minute." I have to say the install was incredibly easy. Everything works very well and sounded great connected to my factory system of the 2013 Kia Optima. I did use the radio's subwoofer output and added a 300 watt powered Rockford Fosgate subwoofer. It all sounds amazing together. I attached two photos of the type of radio I purchased (or tried to. Kinda new here).

My Dasaita PX5 4/32 unit (MCU version 2.88) turns completely off in 30 seconds (lowest preset in system settings) after turning the ignition off.
When turning the ignition on the unit is starting up behind the scenes. When you press power it's already half way in the booting process or even done depending on how quick you switch the unit on.
I'd say about 15 seconds to boot up. This is with a DAB+ unit and USB stick attached.
If you want instant on (e.g. when shopping for an hour or doing multiple deliveries), you can play with the different off time presets in the system settings.

How good is the microphone performance? I have an old android headunit that I could never get mics to work properly on. Voice calls and "Okay Google" is important for me when I upgrade.

It's an MTCD - they're pretty much all the same.
For best peformance on this platform, use an external mic, which may require the internal disconnected.

Sorry, I'm just curious as I just got one for my car installed... but the internal microphone performance is horrible. The box came w/ an external microphone, but is there something i need to do to disable the internal microphone?

Like any MTCD unit, first boot is approx 15-20 secs, with the unit sleeping thereafter resulting in 'instant' resume.

Hello all!
Edit: if you're not interested in the Story, and just want the solution, scroll to Chapter Four
This already has been quite the journey, in fact I went way deeper down this rabbit hole than I'd like to admit, so here is the story:
General info:
Car: Audi TT mk2, 2011, has Bose audio and hands free talking, previous stereo was the RNS-E
Headunit: Xtrons PB78ATTRP, PX5
So the problem was/is, the unit only outputs Sound in these apps:
-Radio, A2DP, Phone Calls, CD-Player, Music or Videos that are loaded onto the micro-SD
I contacted the Xtrons support, apart from being very unhelpful and not doing anything, I later got them to send me a new can bus-adapter (will come into play further down).
So because they weren't very helpful, and i really liked the unit, and with basically no alternatives (Xtrons units claim to be plug+play with the Bose systems, which no other manufacturer I came across claimed), I decided I'd try to hunt it down myself.
Chapter one: Updated the unit to the newest Xtrons firmware + MCU, that did nothing. Updated it to lots of different MCUs, didn't do anything either. Installed Hal9k, no change. Different MCU again, no change. Went on many searches on google, and found people with similar/same problems, but no solution. Then came across something entirely different ,but it gave me new ideas.
Chapter two: I reset the unit a few times, back to Xtrons, back to Hal9k, no change, then I came across the factory settings: you can access those in the car settings all the way down, then enter 126. Standard setting for the can bus profile was, I think, 23 AudiA3, A4. Changed it to anything different than that, and voila, sound now works like it should (although the Bose amp is now always on, when the stereo is on, giving out a little white noise). However, a new enemy emerged: now the steering wheel controls, of course, stopped working.
Chapter three: Tried many different settings in the factory-can bus settings, of course, no difference. At this point, I figured the only thing that could be wrong is either the can bus decoder box or the MCU. So I got that new box from Xtrons, and nothing changed. More internet search fopllowed: I found out some MCUs work across different manufacturers, Xtrons being "GS" for example. So I tried some different ones, and found my can bus box, being a "GS", wouldn't speak with those MCUs. At this point, I got sick of it and figured I'd learn to live without steering wheel controls.
Chapter four: a month or two after chapter three (Today), I figured why not give it another try. So I did another google research on people with can bus problems on PX5 and found this Thread.
So i did what he did, and: IT WORKS! (sort of) Now I have sound in all Apps, and working steering wheel controls. The amp is still constantly on and makes white noise when no music is playing, and i cant completely disable the can bus app, only force stop it, resulting in probably having to force stop it if it somehow starts itself or the unit reboots (if it only sleeps it's fine).
So now, I finally know where the dog was buried so to say, I guess to really fix this id need an update for that can bus-app, which probably Xtrons won't provide
I hope this helped everyone else with that problem, and I'd appreciate any ideas on how to proceed with that can bus-app
have a good one,
Hello, today is your lucky day
I have a 2010 audi ttrs and a Xtron TE706PL with Rom Hal9K ... and i have can bus original from Xtron.
The radio is a universal Xtron one, but i have buy the can bus from radio Xtron for TT Audi.
I have choose in factory the audi A3.
This is not the first android car that I ride.
I have put mcu modified GS, for better sound and it is better with the bass.

For the problem of the amp remaining simply connect the cable vag com and select "1 via remote wire", which will tin the amp with the +15 contact.
For the problem of noise parasite, just go down, with the vag com, the level of the amp, but you can if you want raise the level of the Xtron radio, I'm at -6db for the amp bose.

Hello,
By changing this option, the original bose amplifier will shut off when you turn off and take off the car key.
