SM-P600 LineageOS 14.1 Widevine L1 support? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

My SM-P600 stock android 5.1.1 supports widevine L1, so HD streaming is supported in apps like Netflix and Vudu. A fresh install of lineage-14.1-20180505-nightly-n1awifi-signed.zip only supports widevine L3. I confirmed this using the "DRM Info" app. Due to this, HD streaming from major streaming apps is not supported. I noticed this right away after installing LineageOS because I could only stream in SD from Vudu. Is there anything that can be done about this? The stock android for this runs like a pile of $h*T and I really don't want to go back.

Netflix and Lineage

I can’t seem to get Netflix to work on my 2013 nexus 7 flo, with Lineage 14. Netflix use to work great when I was on stock 6.0 but after I updated to Lineage 14 Netflix no longer works. I try un-installing and re-installing the app, clearing out cache and data but still not working. Is there a work around to get Netflix working on Lineage? Thanks.
Works fine on Moto Z with 14.1. Using official root add-on

I was on Chainfire SU and thought to try Lineage root add on to see if it can fix my Netflix not working issue but it didn't work and it also broke Viper so I had to go back to Chainfire SU to get back Viper.
Back to Square one any suggestions?
Works on LG G3-D852 from Play Store since Lineage 14.1 20170612-Nightly.

Sorry for the late response. The issue is not lineage itself. It's the way drm (widevine) is implemented in the builds for the nexus 7 (2013) devices.
There is a solution using drm files and an older version of Netflix. But for some (including me) downloading movies is not possible anymore.
So what has your solution been in the meantime?

What I’m doing about Netflix on my Nexus 7 is to download the apk from ApkMirror. I use Netflix mainly for streaming to Chromecast and I found that if I hit the stream icon first and start casting to Chromecast first and then start a show it would work and start casting to my TV but I still can’t watch a Netflix as a stand alone.

Can I cast my Nexus 6P's screen to an LG TV in LineageOS?

Hi,
My Nexus 6P with stock OS (currently Oreo beta) can cast to my LG TV from within apps like YouTube, but I can't arbitrarily cast whatever is on my screen. If I had a Chromecast I could, but I don't.
Does LineageOS let me cast to an LG TV (or other DLNA client) directly within the OS, whatever apps or media I have onscreen?
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed!

HD Netflix

Is there a way to watch Netflix in hd on this phone? I understand that the issue is with the DRM level, is there a way to change it? Is anyone else having this problem?
Do you have the hd subscription?

Yes, I have the 4k subscription, but if I look at any movie I don't see the little hd icon next to the title. Googling it I found out that this issue is related to the level of DRM the phone has which you can also find using the drminfo app. Are you not having this problem? Could you check your DRM level and tell me if I got a bad unit?
So I've googled it and it appears that Netflix use Google DRM called Widevine. Our devices do support Widevine 1.0 but unfortunately the second requirement is Netflix certification which unfortunately not all devices get.
There appears a way to bypass this where it tells Netflix servers that it's allowed to stream HD:

The link you posted says that it works with DRM L1 but my P2 has L3, does yours use L1?

Philips 40PFT5883/71 Smart TV Apps/Firmware

Hello guys! We just bought this Philips TV and was not aware it is using this Saphi OS instead of the Android OS we usually find on Android TVs. I have some questions about this TV.
1.) Any users of the OS that have find several key apps that works well with the TV? (e.g. Netflix, Youtube and other useful apps)
2.) Do you know if this OS was just recently implemented and hopefully get better even if it is intended for entry level TVs? The firmware on my TV was made on June 2019 even if it is just built on Android 6.0.
There's no option on exchanging the TV and since most users are not tech savvy, I'm focused more on using it to its full potential.
Same Prob
Same here. We just bought the same tv yesterday and we were told it was an android tv. Netflix was installed manually from a usb flashdrive and youtube. Youtube was working but Im having an error in the Netflix.
I hope there's a fix on this. The TV is great, but we need netflix.
Hi,
what is the exact version of the firmware... can you check the customer service menu? press 123654 in TV mode... you can flip pages by up/down...

Sir, this is the specs of the TV
Android Version: 6.0
Software Version: V1.0.5
Model 40PFT5883/71
UI: Philips One UX
Saphi OS to Android TV would be amazing. I'd rather pay for development of such cfw/rom then buying extra device like Chromecast/TV box. Saphi OS is very non user friendly, video player is powerful but with very limited options with subtitles (no load option), apps are limited and few.

Rooting and keeping Widevine L1

I want to root my Galaxy S9 (Exynos) because I want to install stock Android. The problem is I can't find explicit answers if I am still able to view Netflix and Amazon Prime in HD quality or not. I don't care about knocking knox since I don't have warranty anymore anyway.
So will I still be able to watch Netflix in HD and use other apps normally that use Widevine L1?
Did you find anything?
Thanks.
