Hello. I recently bought a G3121 with android 8.0 and I want to root it, but the boot.img from the post i founded here doesn't work. I was wondering if anyone in the same situation with me has found something. Thanks.
I have exactly the same problem, using firmware 48.1.A.2.50, tried many ways to obtain recovery and root, but without succes - sometimes phone wasn't working, sometimes only TWRP was working, but without system so phone was useless, Magisk doesn't want to install on my phone (Bootloader unlocked). What am I doing wrong?

Hi all, I recently bought a Nexus 7 and got it today and was looking to root and install a custom recovery. I can do that but the problem and/or concerns I have is the device has a locked bootloader and has Marshmallow installed. I am not familiar with Marshmallow at all and do have some concerns as far as flashing goes. I am able to root the device with Kingroot v4.6.0 and I know it won't stick unless the bootloader is unlocked. The other trouble is I do not have access to a PC. I was wondering if this app would unlock the bootloader with the device having Marshmallow installed. I know it works on 5.1.1 but Im hesitant to try it with Marshmallow as I don't know if Marshmallow uses any new encryptions' for the bootloader. Don't wanna brick my new device and not have a way of fixing it lol. Thanks all!
Note: If it will work I can install Kingroot and unlock the bootloader with this.

Seeing as how that app was last updated prior to the release of android M, I would avoid using it, especially if you have no way of using ADB/fastboot from a PC. You could always ask about it in the thread for it too:

I have an HTC desire 816 (710c) Virgin Mobile. I have tried the following: King Root- APK and PC. KingoRoot- APK and PC, Framaroot APK, iRoot APK and PC, Towelroot APK, Z4Root APK, RootMaster APK, One click root APK and PC, Baidu Root APK, And none have gained full root permision. I have had Temp roots with both King Root and KingoRoot, but it seems to only last minutes and then my phone reboots on its own and its back to no root. I have my bootloader unlocked which I thought was supposed to prevent this sort of thing? Im running 5.0.2 stock. I'm fairly versed on this subject so this is becoming very frustrating for me, ive been trying for over a week now. I know i could flash a rooted rom but i have tried literally at least 12 different ones for every variation of my phone possible, from CM 11 up to CM13.. and when I go to flash it says (roughly) "this file is for A5, A5DUG, A5.., This phone is A5dug"......How is that possible? I dont know if this is relevant or not but when im in recovery mode up top it says "A5chl" in the specs area... but thats not what it seems to think it is? I have managed to successfully flash once but it was for a dual sim variant of the 816, needless to say it was jacked up and i had to go back to stock. I must be missing something.. Anyways, im rambling on now. Im desperate, PLZ help me. I have run out of ideas and losing hope quickly.
Cheers,
Mikey

Truly, no offense meant but you're evidently not that well versed because you didn't need to flash any of those exploits to obtain root on the 816 a5_chl VM version because I didn't do any of that and I have root on this same device using V_ Superuser's XDA tutorial thread.
Unlock bootloader through HTCdev then flash current TWRP version for the A5 using ADB/fastboot then download the SuperSU flashable zip file from it's website to the root of your internal SD card then install/flash the zip file using the newly installed TWRP custom recovery. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache then reboot system and you're device is rooted.
After this you can S off with the Sunshine app (my preference) or flash the lollipop WP_ mod.no write permission mod to be able to use root apps like Link2SD and you're done again.
Edit: I've also flashed all of these same custom roms with little issue so something else must be going on there as well. I would get your stock recovery reinstalled ( there are several links to it here in XDA ) ,relock your bootloader and flash/run executable of the stock RUU for the VM A5 found on HTC's download page then start over because I assume you don't have a backup to the stock firmware saved somewhere ?

Hi all,
I know this may seem like a n00b question, but I hope you can point me in the right direction. I have a A320FL with Android 6.0.1 - build june 28 2017, and I blocked the auto update feature, because back then I read about the advanced locking technique and want to root my phone. Since then I looked at these forums, but found it quite difficult to gather all the information to get confident enough to flash/root my phone. In the past I rooted/flashed my Sony Z1c regularly and that was easy. But for some reason flashing the A320 seems much more difficult, with more chances for it to go wrong.
I'd like to have the following:
- Android Oreo stock, twrp, rooted and Xposed (optional if possible)
I found this thread about rooting and twrp and xposed, but it's an older manual for Android 7 and I don't know if it will also work with Oreo.
Other threads talk about unlock and the security path, but I'm not sure if it applies to my situation, or not? (since I have an older installation, perhaps the advanced locking technique isn't implemented)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You should just be able to enable OEM unlock, flash TWRP, format data in TWRP, flash no-verity- noencrypt zip, and you should be fine I think.
Okay, and then flash the last stock rom and then Magisk for root?

If you want to be on the latest update, then do it before you root. But yes, then you flash magisk after the rom after you got TWRP.. Make sure you boot up once or more before you flash magisk.
Hi! i'm trying to root a WELCOME P30 Pro, which is said to have a mtk 6592. I already unlocked the bootloader but as you can imagine there aren't any recovery to install on the phone in order to root it. So I've tried to install magisk through my PC, but i can't find the boot.img. Being in despair I also tried w/ Kingroot and OneTouchRoot, but none of them worked.
Do you know a way to extract boot.img?
Do you know where i can find the original firmware?
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help!
Tried to install TWRP in order to root phone, following instructions I found online. Ended up in bootloop then tried flashing ROM using Fastboot and hard bricked the phone. Paid someone with authorized Mi account to unbrick, but they wouldn't root the phone for me.
My phone is now Android 10/MIUI 12 Indonesia ROM (supports call recording), and I still want to root it.
I have read on this forum that RN8P with Android 10 cannot be safely rooted, but that thread was from Feb 2020, so I'm wondering if anything has changed since then.
I have found this tutorial that claims to be 100% safe for rooting this phone with Android 10/MIUI 12. Can anyone comment on how safe it is?
Thanks.
