hi, im using vlc android to play a radio stream. when i press the "close all apps" button it clears all the apps including vlc but the stream still plays.... the only way to stop the stream is to force stop vlc android via the apps menu.
so why does the "close all apps " button have no effect on the stream? does this mean that i can not trust "close all apps" to actually do what it says, or am i missing something? is there a setting in vlc that is allowing the stream to ignore "close all apps"?
thanks
There might be a bug in the VLC app, try re-installing it.
Other than that you could look for another media player.
thats true it could be vlc , but this happens with another radio app, where its playing a station , i press "close all" button , all apps disappear from the close apps menu ...closes all apps including the radio app but it keeps playing the station... thats the same as vlc , so i dont think its vlc
but it could be..im confused.
thanks ...the other radio app is "radio UK" app

When I'm trying to listen to podcast downloaded by Google Reader it opens HTC Streaming Player. How do I change it so I it will use another media player?
If you have a different app for it then you can do the following.
Settings>>Applications scroll down to find HTC Streaming Player (will probably be under all apps) then look for the button that says "Clear defaults" of similar. Hit this then the next time you launch a podcast it will ask which app you would like to launch. Then choose your preference and tick Remember my choice if you want it to persist.
Looking to do the same on the Transformer Infinity

hi,
since monday i have a i9000 and it is always the same problem.
i start the mp3 player
play some tracks
press on pause to get a coffe or talk to people
and if i finally want to continue playback, mp3 player is gone.
i love the lockscreen feature of this player but if i have to do recreate my
playlist and last song every time i want to hear music, i will get crazy.
as you can imagine i could not find anything helpful here or in any other forum.
maybe i just chose the wrong words to search for.
can anybody give me a hint how to prevent killing, or a alternative to the SGS mp3-player that also has lockscreen integration?
thanks
bennson
the device uses the latest stock-firmware by samsung including samsung task manager
Humm.. when you press "pause" and do other things, it's gone.
Well, it's not a bug, it's a feature ^^
If you want to try other players *with* lockscreen widget, I used some like :
- WinAmp :
http://www.appbrain.com/app/winamp/com.nullsoft.winamp
- Music Mod + Music Mod Lock Screen
http://www.appbrain.com/app/music-mod-(froyo-only)/com.piratemedia.musicmod
http://www.appbrain.com/app/music-mod-lock-screen/com.omeudroid.musicmodlockscreen
thank you for these hints on alternative players. i will try.
i do not agree that pause means that the player is not needet anymore. i would agree if i'd press a stop-button and it would then exit after a while and not save it's current status. but on pause?
just imagine your "real" cd-player would just shut down after a couple of minutes when you press pause?
yes, in the way that the process manager looks at this process and sees it is not active it is ok to send term after a while.
but this is a case of "works as designed but not as expected".
edit: i think a well designed mp3-player such as winamp would know about androids process management and autosave current playlist and song...
my conclusion: it's a pity that samsung did such a nice looking player with that awesome lockscreen-integration and forgot to add one this absolutely common feature.
Yeah, this problem is very prominent on 2.2, but after I started using 2.2.1, I haven't had the problem. So they did some fixing there
Now I can pause it to take a coffee and resume afterwards.
thank you very much mstrandbo. this was it.
i am on 2.2.1 (XXJPY) now and there is a mp3-player-core service running. this keeps the current state of playback.
I'm not sure where this post belongs, so sorry in advance if it's in the wrong section.
I am having a really hard time with the Google Play - My Library widget. Specifically, the My Music library. Whenever I try to add it to a homescreen, I keep getting the error "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped". The weird thing is that this is the only library that is causing that. The books, magazine, movies, and my library work just fine. They load the pictures and everything.
Can anyone confirm this bug?
Thanks!

I have resolved this problem for those looking/ having the same problem. Remove the widget and then go into Settings --> Apps (application manager) --> Menu (three dots) --> "Reset app preferences". Re-apply the widget.
Hello
excuse, my english is very rusty.
my music (mp3) is not tagged.
my music is stored in named folders.
Apollo can not play music sorted by folder.
my favorite music player is FolderPlayer.
it plays sorted by folder and is my standard player.
unfortunately, when I start the music player from a sportstracker like endomondo or runtastic, then it opens Apollo.
when I disable the Apollo app, then the music player can not startet by any sportstracker.
how I can set FolderPlayer as realy standard music app?
I believe the FolderPlayer app needs to implement registering itself with the OS as capable of the music player activity. Uninstalling Apollo won't do anything.
EDIT: unless it's set as default.
Apollo is default music player imo, the path below should help
setings -> apps -> apollo -> "launch by default" -> clear defaults

"clear defaults" is grayed out or disabled, therefore I disabled Apollo completely.
Apollo is imo very deep integrated in cyanogenmod.
Any idea to solve this problem?
Thank you.
Best regards.

If you have CM then you have root, just delete the damn apk from /system/app or data/app and set the other one as default. Apollo is noc deep into cm, it's just installed and set as default. To remove it you can use either adb or a file explorer like ROOT EXPLORER or the embeded CM explorer.

It has nothing to do with integration into CM. Applications in the Android OS can be chosen as the default to perform specific tasks, which are called Activities. For example, an application can support the Activity of opening pictures, or opening music, or what have you. Application developers need to implement specific Activity capability in their apps by telling the OS that the app is capable of performing that Activity. Apollo supports the music-opening Activity. If your phone isn't giving you the option of apps when you open music files, I'm guessing that the dev of the music application you want to use has not implemented the music-opening Activity. So when your phone goes to open a music file, it only sees Apollo as capable of opening the music file, because your other music app is not registered with the OS as capable of doing so. I'm assuming that the app you want to use is capable of opening files from within the app's own interface, but it sounds like the dev hasn't implemented the capability for the app to open music files opened from outside the app interface.

I'm being nitpicky, but this is not necessarily true. He (or someone else) could have removed the su binary and/or the superuser apk. I say this because I remove them sometimes when asked, so that I can put a new ROM on a novice user's device but the user can't screw up the phone.
@bananagranola
When I use "clear defaults" in FolderPlayer and play a song from file exploer, then asks the system for a default player.
Thereafter, each song plays Folderplayer by default from file explorer. So, this is also opened from outside the app interface.
But strange is, the icon still remains from Apollo icon. Therefore I think Apollo is deep integrated.
@haerigrek
I would like try this, but can I undo this?
Thank you and best regards

OK, I've deleted Apollo from /system/app, and then sportstracker couldn't find a music app.
Then I've installed another folder player (EZ Folder Player) and it works very well from sportstracker. The first FolderPlayer is the default player, but from sportstracker plays the music the new EZ Folder Player, now.
bananagranola, you were absolutely right.
Thank you very much all.
The FTVstick doesn’t have a separate YouTube music app, it uses the standard YouTube one.
Every time I press the home button, the music stops despite me having a YouTube music sub
I’d like the music to keep playing so I can load up projectM for visuals!
has anyone found a workaround?

Have you tried installing the YT vanced app on your device?
I know the unrooted version via vanced manager apk seems to play nicer.
https://github.com/YTVanced/VancedManager/releases (goto assets)
You will need otg mouse/ keyboard for these apps to work properly but background play does work on normal yt vanced I use it on my 4K
