Project Treble support? - Moto G5 Questions & Answers

So the people on the Moto Z forum have managed to get semi-working treble support, basically it requires using a script (namely Capire Le Treble)to convert Generic System Images (GSI) to Device Specific System Images (DSSI) in order to boot those since it does not have a /vendor partition. I wonder if something similar can be achieved on our device.

Not sure, though it's likely to be possible.

CodeZero has already got the moto g5 to boot with project treble but it only boots (nothing else works)
You can ask him or check his github to see if he is still working on it

Most guys here bricked their G5s

Project Treble Support?

Hi, just recently purchased this device through T-Mobile. Figured it was a great deal on a device with an actual unlockable bootloader from a carrier. Updated to 8.0 and noticed there's no Treble support. Does anyone know why this is? It's odd since this is one of the few devices that already utilizes the A/B slots for updates. I'm guessing Moto doesn't use a vendor partition? Is there any other reason why they wouldn't implement Treble support? And is there anything we can do on our end to try and encourage or enable support (doubting enabling since I don't think there's a vendor partition)? Just looking for more info on the situation.
Thanks

Question about android p [Semi-GSI] vendor partition

Hi guys, i tryed to install the android p preview
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...m-android-p-developer-preview-t3816659/page29
Moto g5 is in the list of compatible devices
https://github.com/erfanoabdi/P_semiGSI/wiki
It tells that i need to mount "vendor" in twrp, but it doesn't appears
I want to ask you if it was for the TWRP version or i need a system that supports that option or tell me how can i enable vendor option
Sorry for my bad english
Thanks

I presume vendor would be for project treble enabled devices
You would need a twrp that had project treble support - I did notice on github the source for a project treble twrp for this device (from the same guy that did lineageos 15.1)
Im sure if he gets it working he will release it or you can compile it yourself and try

Treble for cedric

Is the g5 capable of supporting treble images, or will it be? Such support would fix the lack of updates for the g5 on pretty much every current rom for it.

There's a source code for it from the same people that developed lineage os for this device
No idea if it works or the status - you will just have to wait and see if it's released
Source code is

Possible to Flash Q Rom made for Moto G5S Plus (sanders) on Moto z2 play (Albus)?

After scattering through a tonne of content on the internet and flashing multiple ROMs on my moto z2 play, I found AOSP extended GSI of android PIE and I am using it right now as my daily driver. It works 9/10 Anyone can daily drive it as long as you are not concerned about passing SafetyNet. However, while I was digging for some ROM that would officially support my z2 play(albus), I noticed one thing that Motorola Moto G5 Plus has a lot of support amongst custom roms. I may be missing some points cause I haven't been into flashing roms since some years now and I recently came back to the whole scene but is there a way that I can run a Custom rom (like Evolution X) on my albus using the build meant for Motorola Moto G5 Plus? Both of these phones have extremely similar specs and dimensions. z2 play was launched on 2017 June and Motorola Moto G5 Plus was launched on 2017 Feb.

According to this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-play/how-to/updated-guide-project-treble-gsi-t4063193
you can flash ANY GSI into the Z2 Play as long as they met these requirements:
1. Rom arch is arm64
2. Rom partition scheme is aonly
Most custom roms do not specify which partition scheme uses, in this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2...droid-q-gsi-moto-z2-play-albus-t4066945/page2 the user @saibharath1319 mentions he succesfully installed Pixel Experience Plus Android 10 GSI with KVT 2.4 "without any major issues besides ambient display not working.

What he is asking and what your telling mate?? even i was searching for the same question moto g5 plus has tremendous support and both the devices are totally identical ? can someone give it a try?
Bro do you even read? The short answer is no, you can't simply flash sanders ROMs or any other, to albus. Unless they are GSI's.
If you don't have any idea what I'm talking about. Then google it.
If you are coming from Stock Pie Update make sure you use the modem file (non-HLOS.bin) from Stock Oreo because the modem from Stock Pie has audio issues with custom ROMs.

Dsu loader for motrola z play

Does Motorola z play comes with super partitions because I am new in flashing ROM and stuff so I don't have a good grasp over the knowledge of ROMs and gsi. So I want to install android 12 gsi on my Motorola z play I have installed android 11 but when I go in settings at dsu loader and try to install it. It shows install failed. My phone does support project treble but not dynamic partition so idk what to do? And I want to use android 12.
hey i want to install android 12 gsi but when i installed pixel experience ab slot arm64 it keeps rebooting. My device shows its ab slot in treble info app and in treble check it shows its a slot. so idk what to do?

Dynamic partitions is a feature of some phones that shipped with Android 10+.
This device uses regular partitions, and it's compatible with A-only GSIs.
