Hi,
I have GN7100 and after low battery this one shut down instant, this corrupt my internal sd card and now I can't boot to Lineage OS, I have encryption unsuccessful...
I have try to access to my data in twrp but impossible to mount my card,
I don't care about repair my phone, I want just recovery my data pictures, and SMS history (less important),
Do you know trick for do it ? I can't unmout the phone,
Thank you,
Sounds like the phone's encryption process was interrupted part way and it's in a semi-encrypted state.
Data recovery is going to be tough because there may be no way to unencrypt the data.
Please let us know if you find a solution.
Thank you.
I don’t remember enable encryption, no way to try recovery via PC ? I have twrp access to use tool

Hmm, I'm not sure why the phone would start to encrypt if you didn't choose that option.
Unless you can mount the data drive and pull the data, not sure that you will be able to recovery any data without going to a data recovery service.
I send to paypal account 25$ for whoever find solution

Since this phone does not have an SD card, does this mean that anytime I want to try a new ROM or something and have to factory reset, that everything off my phone will be erased? Including pictures and ect? I cannot believe they didn't leave SD card support for this phone, really upset about that. It takes too long to transfer my 10gig+ data from my sdcard to this phone. I don't want to have to go through that constantly with this phone.
No the stuff on your phone will not be wiped. The whole "sdcard" thing is a misconception.
The phone itself has a internal storage.
Other phones such as Galaxy S2/S1... have a internal storage and external. Which is removable.

Well, if you flash a new a new system image only, then I guess the stuff located in the userdata partition will not be erased...

... but if you flash the userdata partition, ALL of your data will be erased, because /sdcard is actually a link to /data/media
If it was me I would make a backup anyway for the sake of a few minutes before flashing any ROM.
Flashing a new rom does NOT erase your data, ie photos - downloads - music etc.

Have you tried it? Try flashing one of the stock builds from Google found here and tell me if your data gets erased. I can tell you that mine did, but I make sure to make a backup of everything (like daleski75 said earlier) before flashing anything related to the data partition.
as far as I have seen the stock recovery will wipe the /sdcard partition. CWM recovery will not

Is there any way to flash a ROM or factory image in fastboot without wiping the SD card partition? I can only get my device to show up in fastboot, not ADB.

Remove userdata.img from the Google images.
Honestly I would work on getting ADB to work properly. It will give you much more flexibility in these situations.

No it won't wipe the SD card partition unless you unlock the bootloader or flash the factory images in fastboot.
There might already be an answer for my question, but unfortunately i could not find anything...
i made a biiiig mistake some minutes ago. i wanted to install a new rom on my phone, so i did a factory reset and wanted to format /system. unfortunately i chose to format /sdcard instead! i recognized it, when cwm wrote "formatting /sdcard", not a second before, when i had to confirm my choice. ((
i did not make a backup of internal storeage before, so all my data (including the photos from my kids!!!) got lost. i immediately pulled out the battery, to maybe have a chance to get my data back. if needed, i could still boot into android, because i did not wipe /system like i wanted to...
is there a way to get my data back (at least the photos)??? PLEASE HELP!!!

If you have root, try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.undelete&hl=en
Edit: cancel that. Only FAT is supported.

no there is not.
all data recovery options require the partition to be mounted. since there is no sdcard, you cannot mount it.
Hey all,
Recently I tried to format my sd card from my phone to create extra space, as it was getting clogged up. I pressed unmount, expecting to mount it again as the format option was greyed out. However, I was unable to get it mounted again (ie my phone no longer recognises a sd card is inserted).
I tried to perform a factory rest to get my phone back to the settings it should have once had. However it didn't manage to do this properly and now its stuck at the htc logo screen. Formating or partitioning the sd card didnt do a thing.
I can get into the bootloader, and it was rooted beforehand. I was running the official Miui ROM. Now I am unable to start my phone normally, nor get into access my sd card.
Unfortunetly, I have had my phone for quiet a long time now so I doubt the warranty is still valid. I need help urgently.
Thanks in advance.
Try clearing cache and data and then install a new rom for example Jellytime r26.2.
if it dont work the first time try one more time. I had the same issue ones and had to install the rom twice before it worked.

Are you S-OFF? Can you get into recovery? through the bootloader? If so, just flash a new ROM through recovery.
How did you try to do a factory reset? If you can get into the bootloader, go to recovery if you have it. Then see if the sdcard is being recognized or not. If it is getting recognized, put the zip of any ROM on it and flash it after wiping like the guy above me said.
Post what your bootloader screen says here. Your phone is far from being bricked as far as I know.
RESOLVED
I've managed to resolve this issue. For the benefit of others I will explain what I did.
1)I went into fastboot mode and connected my phone to my pc (running windows 7). Using cmd I reflashed the recovery image.
2)Went into recovery and installed a custom ROM.
I hope this helps you as it really saved my life.
P.S Cheers for all the help guys, you've been amazing!

I formated and wiped all the data i could from the phone itself and the from recovery. Lucky you were right about me being far away from bricking it completely.
Since I firstly unmounted my sd card from my phone settings, it didnt get recognised at all. I couldnt mount it again. So i formatted it with windows, then in recovery made a backup image despite the phone being stuck in bootloop. That allowed me to finally access my sd card for some reason.
Then as you all suggested, i just needed to reflash everything, including recovery using fastboot.
Bit of a strange scenario really
Lesson learned ? :
1.) If youre going to start from scratch then start in Recovery;
2.) wipe all partitions (twice)
3.) enable USB drive and transfer new ROM to SD Root
4.) flash new ROM

hi lachy92, by formatted all the data, you mean wipe data/factory reset in the recovery? coz i have same problem with you, i tried to install new rom from the recovery, but the recovery always shows cant open sd card, installation aborted, can you help me pliz
Need some help, I dirty flashed the update from OnePlus site, the 3.2.8. thru twrp. From 3.2.6
After rebooting, I lost all my data, and media, even backup.
Any advice.

I'm not sure about the memory on phones but at least with HDD's and SD cards, all data is recoverable (with some data recovery software) unless it was wiped with a data destruction/HDD 0 algorithm (and even still can be recovered). Even if the HDD was physically damaged, data can be recovered (mind you, depends on the severity and how much $$$ you're willing to fork out).

I agree, however. If a HDD or SSD crashes for example and it gets send for recovery. besides the thing having crashed it has not been modified.
If his phone was formatted, not all but many of the sectors where he had old data would have been overwritten with new data. (System being the biggest for example. although I doubt he stored media and data there)
If he installed any apps after his phone was formatted, even if its not a lot of space, the sectors those got written to will have overwritten anything that was there in the first place.
(now, I'm not a 100% hardware expert. I do software development for a living, not hardware. So I'm probably not 100% right)
In any case though, probably the best thing to do is just re-install everything you had. Start from scratch. and if you ever flash again. Store the backup safely on your pc first before you flash your phone.
You may try your luck with an app called Undeleter
Yes, you did a backup. Did you copy it on a PC or memory stick? This it's the real problem.
The data partition has changed after format.it has changed from ext4 to f2fs.So there is no any possibility to retrieve the data.

Yeah, OOS 3.2.8 doesn't use f2fs though.
But OP. Was your device decrypted before you flashed the update through twrp? If so, then the device got forced encrypted and in some weird way also formatted the sd card.
its normal at Oneplus, i´ve deleted all my stuff 2 times by accident. Today my phone get stuck at the TWPR because of a normal OTA from Oneplus and this deleted everything...
How do I fix this i decrypted it and now this what do I have to do?
Solution
[/IHi! So are you saying it is mandatory to "unencrypt" (hence format int. storage) in order to be able to install this ROM?
not to flash ROM. You can flash it while encrypted. But it will ask you for a password on first boot. And after that you are ****** because you will lose access to the internal storage, rendering the recovery useless at this moment... however you will still have access to the phone via bootloader. After that, the only way to decrypt will be via fastboot command "fastboot format userdata" (in which you lose all your data).
From my understanding, because of this command you may experience issues with your partition. At least I had a problem: my internal storage was "cut" in half on windows when I connected phone and checked and after booting first time finally thinking everything was solved disk info also reported that I had some 30gb used, with about high 20's gbs free. I was like wtf.
However, luckily, after formatting internal storage via fastboot command you gain access back to your storage, as the encryption (which was blocking you) is gone. This way you can format (yes, again) your storage through recovery (format, not wipe). It corrects the partition and your phone is read as having 64gb of storage again.
Bottomline, as I understand, had I been decrypted from the start ( which means, before flashing the DU ROM) I wouldn't have had any problems at all with booting ROM first time after installing it and gapps, because it wouldn't ask me for a password. So I wouldn't have to fastboot command to format storage, and wouldn't have problems with partition requiring a new format (this time through recovery).
tip: don't forget to check my comments in the previous page. And I advise you to unencrypt before flashing this ROM. There are tutorials on youtube and xda developers forum certainly. Maybe even here. Good luck every one. And I sincerely only recommend rooting your phone and flashing custom roms if you get the basics of a few commands at least on fastboot and know how to backup your stuff before in case something goes very wrong and your recovery goes to ****
edit: you can decrypt and not lose your data if you backup, move backup to pc, and then, after decrypting, move everything back to your phone.
