Hi,
I tried to install CM11 on my Galaxy Gio, but I ran into several problems.
First I managed to flash CM11 from an old clockwork mod version.
However the system did not boot up correctly, so I tried to use a newer
recovery version. That failed as well and now I am stuck without a working recovery.
The device won't get past the Samsung logo upon normal boot. When I enter
the download mode, the screen looks different than any screenshot I have found
so far. Most people say you get a warning, that download mode is dangerous, etc.
but my device just says "Downloading..." in a yellow font. Windows won't discover
it at all, even with installed Samsung drivers and on Linux I was able to detect it
using Heimdall, but flashing it failed with the error "Failed to initialize protocol".
Does anyone have any idea what I could try to do next? I'm getting pretty desperate
right now...
Thanks in advance
Chris
If it says just "Downloading..." when you enter in download mode, it's perfectly OK!!!
Steps to bring your phone back to life:
1) Enter Download Mode
2) Connect Phone to PC through USB Cable (though it's the only way, now)
3) Download a Stock ROM
4) Open ODIN, wait it to detect your phone, select the stock rom's archive, select the OPS required
5) Flash it and wait
I can provide you any files you need and even TeamViewer support, just tell me!
P.S.: I have revived my phone about 10 times so far because I've tested almost every ROM for our Gio!

My Problem so far is that ODIN won't recognize my phone. I think it is a problem with Windows 8, it says the driver doesn't exist. I tried installing the Samsung driver package but even then, the phone is just recognized as "Unknown Device". The Samsung package contains about 20 folders, so I didn't know which driver to force install.

That would be really nice, if I can't fix it myself. Can you tell me in which timezone you live, so I can plan accordingly?
Many thanks

Well, i can provide teamviewer support too as i have done it on windows 8 myself, My Timezone is GMT + 5.00
I have been able to repair the device by myself. I used an old Windows XP machine and did exactly what I did on my Windows 8 machine. Worked like a charm... At this point I have to assume that Odin does not play well on 64 bit machines...

keep in mind that you have to "wipe data/factory reset" from stock recovery first time after flashing stock ROM with odin otherwise it will not boot up!

sorry but my english is bad
I'm GMT +3 (Bucharest). If you want me to make your phone running at its possibly best then give me a private message and I'll help you with everything you need.
I got the Tab Pro 12.2 a couple of weeks ago (refurb). It worked flawlessly, so I decided to root it, etc. It no longer works.
Two points.
(BOOT 1) - On a 'normal' boot it will get past the blue swirl with about 1 second of audio, then stops with "SAMSUNG" on the screen.
(BOOT 2) - On a Pwr on/Vol- (hard) boot, it will come up with "press vol +)" at which time it boots to ODIN. No way can I get it to boot to TWRP (see following)
Conditions: Windows 10 Tech Preview, Dell XPS 18 (USB 2 and 3), latest USB driver from Samsung, ODIN 3.10, Kies 3. The tablet connects with ODIN.
I loaded CF-Auto-Root (CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5). Success, BUT tablet reboots to BOOT 1, above.
I loaded "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar". Success, BUT reboots to BOOT1 above.
If I do a "hard" boot, I'm back with ODIN. TWRP won't boot. Tried the same with CWM (getting stupid here). Boots to ODIN. Basically, I can't boot into any recovery program.
Tried loading "SM-T900_XAR_1_20140508111550_703bt27ewy.tar". Again, loads but no joy.
Loaded the original ROM from SamMoblie. Again, no dice.
Am I screwed or what? Please help if you can. Thanks.

Try a different ODIN version.
I've come up with something similar in the past.
ODIN reports OK but nothing is really written to the Tab.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried a few versions of ODIN. One or two of the older ones didn't work at all.. Currently using 3.10.6. Maybe I'll go back and retry a couple.
With tablet in download mode: I tried Kies and it reported the tablet as an unrecognized device. Tried ADB. It didn't see the tablet at all.
Any great insights (or guesses) would be appreciated!
Thanks

Plug in the Tab and check in your computer device manager list that the device shows connected to the USB port and the drive installed is Samsung Android ADB Interface, if it isn't change it to this driver.
Make sure you are using the original USB cable and its plugged directly into the PC and not via any Hubs.

Try loading this in odin(P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar) then see if you can get into stock recovery and wipe cache and data to return to default settings. See if your stock rom loads.... If so then
flash CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 in odin then reboot
If all is working then flash
openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.0-v2wifixx.img.tar
instead of the openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-v2wifixx.img.tar( this seemed to not load on my tablet pro 12.2)
See if it boots up for you.
Then you can install custom rom if you want from twrp.

Thanks for the advice. I couldn't find a download link for the 2.8.0.0 but found openrecovery-twrp-v1a3gxx.img.tar. I'm guessing it's for a 3G version but it works. I used ODIN3 v3.10.6.exe on the PC. So far, I have twrp and the stock ROM running and everything works nicely. I still haven't managed to root it. Keeps getting stuck on cache. Can it be rooted after twrp has been loaded?
I actually may try to use the tablet for a while instead of continually poking and reloading it.
Dear XDA Community,
in past 2 months i've been using CM13, constantly having some trouble with apps involving the camera, such as the camera app(surprise) and e.g. snapchat.
So yesterday I decided to update my CM Build, not knowing it would be to CM14 and with this Android 7.
So resulting from this I experienced a lot of issues with different apps, especially the google ones and for example Instagram. I DID NOT Upgrade my twrp, which was pretty stupid as I found out.
So this morning I checked again for CM Updates and Updated to Version Nightly...25 I think... but because I did not update my TWRP it did absolutely nothing except bricking my phone.
I already followed through the Guide for Hard Bricked OP3s (both steps) "http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3405700"
Though it sadly did not work for me. The Recovery tool and all works but when I want to boot my Phone the md5checksum pops up after the OP3 Logo and it tells me that everythings fine except "boot: failed".
I tried the procedure of the Hard Brick fix over and over again but nothing seems to work. I am fairly new to this whole Custom Rom stuff so I have absolutely no clue what do to.
Does anyone have any idea that could help?
Best Regards
Aliasalex
Try fastboot flashing the whole rom.
how? i dont have a factory img.
i tried flashing CM14 again and OxygenOs OTA. Currently i am getting Cache, Boot and System Failed.
In the meanwhile I managed to get twrp installed, but trying to install OS or CM via twrp didnt work either
//edit: ran the msm download tool again. Now only Boot is failing. tried flashing a boot.img via fastboot but didnt work
//edit2: when flashing the boot.img via fastboot my phone boots and works. When restarting without PC it still has cache and boot failure in md5checksum
try the 1st method you mentioned in the OP but flash https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591020540821926 . from what I understand, you need to full write all your partitions since they seems corrupted.

You can't access Fastboot because of that Kedacom driver, if you right click it you should be able to change the driver.

But I can access fastboot!?
Also I disabled Driver Signing Check when first trying to unbrick my phone.
I installed the drivers given in the Unbrick Test, it showed something like Qualcomm [something] 9003. There was something in between.

Nice, whdn you boot you still get those errors in red letter something with "failed boot". Then manually flash the boot. Img provided in the folder where you ran the Unbrick tool from. Command for Fastboot "fastboot devices", then "fastboot flash boot boot.img". Make sure that Kedacom is not in device manager when you are accessing Fastboot.

Flash the stock recovery.
Get stock recovery from downloads.oneplus.net
I cant seem to flash the stock recovery. The device is not visible in adb devices or fastboot devices. im facing the same issue.
If you are using TWRP 3.0.4-0 - try a hard boot...hold down the power button for 20s...wait 20s, power it back on.

easy solution. Boot into fastboot
download this tool.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/toolkit-oneplus-3-toolkit-unlock-t3398799
if newest version isnt working, download an older version with older twrp
than unzip the tool and run the .bat file and install twrp.
Thats it
There are many posts on Nougat not working with official TWRP (based on 6.0 build). Try booting into stock recovery. performing a system settings reset, then booting into fastboot and run the adb command, <fastboot boot TWRP-3.0.2-1.28.img>. From there you can do virtually anything you need to do. I recommend at least using a modified version of TWRP (such as 1.28). This has been posted many times before, please try and do a search for the answers first, it will help tremendously. Thanks

i had the same problem on my rooted OP3 when i used TWRP 3.0.2-1 , it worked to flash the full 4.0.1 rom but failed for everything else, flashing latest verion of twrp fixed it for me
Got the same problem (unrooted phone + device state locked, cannot access recover, but can access fastboot) with an added "benefit", USB debugging mode was off before it all went crashing and burning.
How to access my phone via PC? (all the guides I've found assume I had USB debugging mode on before the phone got soft-bricked, but as a normal phone user who never installed anything custom, I've never figured it is A MUST BE ON function).
Or simpler question - what tool to use to turn on the USB debugging mode? (if that is at all possible?)

I think you need to root it first. Do a search for "CF auto-root" and find the correct one for your model number. You'll need to use Odin rather than ADB to flash the CF Auto-Root file. Once it is rooted, you can flash TWRP with Odin also. There are plenty of tutorials on the web and here at XDA on how to do this. Once TWRP is installed, you can use it to flash the ROM you want (I would suggest LineageOS 14.1).
Link below is a tutorial on rooting.

Did you enable USB debugging in the developer options settings on the Tab S? If you did not, that's your problem. If you did, check that the PC detects your device before you start Odin. If it does, unplug the device, start Odin, and plug it back in. If it still doesn't detect it, try re-installing the drivers.
