Flash the stock firmware (same version as what is on it now) via sd method and take it to a shop to be network unlocked. Then you can change it's identity to the wwe euro version.
To do that you'll change the cid via fastboot to HTC_001 and flash the 401 region firmware. Insert any sim and away you go..
Hi shivadow thanks for reply,i think the phone must be unlocked cause i could make calls in uk (talktalk) when it turn on it says sim is non verizon. Could you explain how to change cid and flash 401 region firmware, also the phone identity,i really don't know that much but can follow instructions, and if you have any links to what i need would be much appreciated .
thanks again

Never flash GSM firmware on a CDMA device unless you need a new paperweight.
The Verizon variant is a CDMA phone and the European one uses GSM. For further info I'd suggest you to read the ReadMe thread.

I thought verizon was gsm and sprint was cdma?
No. Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA-based carriers.
The GSM variants of the M9 are the 0PJA1**** ones. The 0PJA20000 (Sprint) and the 0PJA30000 (Verizon) variant are the CDMA ones.
Edit: Don't forget that LTE is a GSM-only technology. Just because CDMA carriers need to own some GSM frequencies for supporting LTE it doesn't mean that they aren't using CDMA for the rest of their network, anymore.

Hi,
I have inactivated Sprint HTC One M8 Harman Kardan and I unlocked, S-Off, change it to super CID and rooted it but still I could not unlock the sim card ( I tried the 2 methods to SIM unlocked but no success). Even when I install ROM I'm still getting the activating message.
Is it possible to change the radio or any other file to turn it from Sprint locked to international unlocked HTC One M8?
I know I made a mistake by buying it instead of the unlocked version but what has happened has happened.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone?
Hi All!
Just returning to the world of flashing after being with Verizon for so long. I have recently switched to T-Mobile, and have been using my unlocked AT&T. Other than S-Off and an unlocked bootloader I haven't looked too much into flashing yet.
I have been reading the forums and it seems as though the GSM version of the HTC M8 are relatively interchangeable. This got me thinking, I am able to make the necessary changes to CID & MID to match the T-Mobile version, and then convert using a T-Mobile RUU?
Thanks!

Thank you! Just wanted to confirm - that is the exact thread I reviewed.
Just do supercid and use tmo ruu.
Wait... so I just need to switch the CID to the "supercid" and I don't worry about the MID and just flash the Tmo RUU?
(it's been a LONG time since I've been on a HTC device...)
Hi, so i just bought an htc m8 from ebay and when it arrived i found out its verizon and its in verizon store demo mode, i already reseted it and the app just keeps coming back, how can i get rid off this?
S-off the device, change cid and flash a wwe ruu like the 4.16.401
Or send it back because you got ripped off !

Hey! i didnt understood any of what you said Could you help me? i can try to learn!
oooof tough one .....
S-OFF = Security off
Means all partitions of the phone that are usually locked down for modding are unlocked now, to change the model id (mid) and region codes (cid). Also for changing the phone from carrier lock to unbranded phone.
S-off is available via www.theroot.ninja
Then you have to change cid to a verizon one (non demo cid) and flash a Verizon RUU.
Comes to think of it that a Verizon might not be able to go WWE, I'm not into Verizon devices.
But that's the story in a nutshell. How to change cids can be found in the general section in several tutorials. Or ask/read in the specific Verizon subforum for the M8. The device has its own section !
I bought a m9 off Craigslist my it's a 0PJA110 from my understanding that's an at&t model but there is no at&t logo on the back it's the gold on gold and I'm using it with metro pcs no unlocking was required my CID is BS_US001 my bootloader is locked and I'm S-on what I'm tryna figure out is is it possible he sold me an at&t model that he unlocked himself possibly from this site or is this an unlocked model any help would be greatly appreciated
I think I found my answer
That cid is for the us dev edition.

Hello all I am new and so apologies if this is in the wrong place or is just a stupid question.
I have just got myself a new HTC OneM8 and was concerned that it does not see any updates as it is still on 4.4.2 i would have thought that it would at least see sence 7 or even lollipop by now if not Marshmellow yet
I went into the boot screen (fastboot off, power + vol down) and this is what i see: It is sim free and I am on Virgin UK

My question to you guys is can this be updated? should it see the updates?
or is it a bad phone (i can send it back if needed for a refund)
Thx in advance for any help on this matter cheers all
If you can send it back for a refund or for another phone, do it.
It is not a bad phone but not suitable for you at where you are located now.
That's a Sprint US device and the official update will come only when you're on Sprint US network, not on any other SIM free network.
And yes .. you post this in wrong section, I'll ask moderator to move this to Q&A section

I agree with the above that this is the worst version of the M8 to have (along with the Verizon version) if you aren't located in the US and on that actual network (Sprint or Verizon) for the following reasons:
1) Excessive carrier branding and bloatware common to most US branded devices
2) This version can't be fully converted to Euro version or any other version (to change radio baseband, OTA updates, etc.)
3) Can't flash many ROMs, unless they specifically support the Sprint version; or you install the proper kernel
Although points 2 and 3 above are mostly only relevant if you intend to mod the phone.
If the phone supports all the bands your carrier uses (3G, LTE) and you don't mind the Sprint branding,
you can still update it by RUU, with download link and instruction on the bottom of the following support page (be aware that RUU will wipe the whole phone):
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-sprint/news/
Thank you. I was sure it had something to do with Sprint as under the current user in settings/about it is listed as [email protected]
thanks again for the speedy reply much appreciated I will send it back and get a UK version
Cheers
Funny I did try the update in that link and it failed

If it was Error 155, you need to flash the firmware.zip, then RUU (quirk with MM RUU).
But as you are returning the phone, I'd just not mess with it. Above is just an FYI, as it is confusing why the RUU that matches your version would fail.
