I was wondering which One is better forum the mi A2 lite
i think mi a2 module is beter for low light photos if u use in manual mode but gcam goes all the way ?
Ive tested many camera apps on mi a2 lite and I think that the pixel2mod v8.2 is the best ( need the camera2api enabled )
I like the gcam. But if you zoom in, the photos always have more noise (this sandy effect the high ISO makes) and, therefore, lower quality pictures. But better color treatment. So, overall, I'll say that the MiA2 module is better than the gcams I've tested.

The OTA update from July to September was working without problems here with Camera2 API enabled.
Btw, also using gcam 8.2 by Arnova.
Going back to the thread question...
After a few days of regular use (not testing use) I choose Mi A2 camera with no doubt (I don't use the front camera, and I don't usually take pictures to people). I'll keep both cameras because they offer different functions, but I'll never shoot with gcam HDR (which is suposed to be it's strenght). In the gcam R5plus_fix_crash (the one I use now), it is extremly bright (burned photos) and there is a lot of noise in the picture. And with the Arnova8G2, it takes forever to process after taking the photo. I haven't had any issue with the A2 camera. However, with the A2 camera, there isn't much diference between pictures shot with HDR or wthout it.
Google Camera (GCam-6.2.030_Arnova8G2_Urnyx05-v2.1) tested on Android Pie (July updates) with perfect focus for Xiaomi MI A2 Lite.
Bugs found so far:
- Don't disable HDR, because photos will be in lower resolution than 12 MP (for main camera).
- You need to disable HDR for front (selfie) camera
- Photos taken in Portrait and Night Sight mode in front (selfie) camera won't be saved.
- Photobooth.

For Mi A2 Lite I found that the front camera won't save photos in portrait and night sight mode. Everything else is working including touch to focus which is really good.

Nope, tap to focus doesn't work for me. Stock pie.

Sorry bro. I'm using the XDA app from play store, so I didn't see your fully comment.

Gcam 6.2.30 on S10 plus looks fine in viewfinder but after processing there's a green yellow tint to final images, tried all manner of settings, stock app is sharper and more natural on this Snapdragon variant I have.
Finally after waiting and searching for Gcam 7.x works on MIUI 11. Here it is, not my work but i just want to share it with you guys. hdr+ works i think everything works. Goodluck!

What's the reason of having gcam if it only shoots in 12 and 5 MP? Even the ones that have 48mp option they shoot 12mp

You should check the quality of a stock camera and Google camera 7, the difference is big. Megapixels has nothing to do with that but the software algorithm does. Gcam has awesome algorithm. And it's 12 and 9 MP by the way.

Those are kinda "fake" 48mp. The 12mp are better with gcam. It's unnecessary to use more megapixels.

What about libaries? In version 6.2 it was recommended to switch from standard google libs to custom libs. Is it ok to go with standard google libs on version 7.0?

Do you guys also notice that this camera is more zoomed in than what you get on the stock camera with the main camera?

At least when I shot in RAW, the quality was way better - I got a sharper resultant JPEG, with less noise.
Slow-Mo did not work for me with GCam.
You can't enable wide-angle and telephone lenses too - the moment you enable them, the app crashes.
Does this work on non superzoom x3

Hello.
I installed the version "Urnyx's 7.3 v2.5: GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.5.apk".
There is an inversion of the buttons between the ultra wide angle lenses and the zoom.

The 58x series are slightly old (mid 2018), so you can't expect great performances from the IMX582.
But my current phone (OnePlus One) has an IMX214 (2014), so my next one (POCO F3) will be a great improvement...!

I put a link where there is gcam for Redmi K40 / Poco F3. I have the first one from BSG, everything works without any kind of bug.
Download Google Camera for Xiaomi Redmi K40 (GCam 8.2 APK) - NaldoTech
If you have a Xiaomi Redmi K40 or K40 Pro, you can now download and install the latest working port of Google Camera (GCam). The Google Camera (GCam 8.1) has
www.naldotech.com
Another site popup new gcam called PXv8.1_GCam-v1.2 for Poco F3 [Urnyx05]
Supposedly compatible with F3 & X3 Pro. Not sure which is better maybe someone with keen eye for photos can let us know.
Download Google Camera for Poco F3 and Poco X3 Pro (Gcam APK)
Are you one of the Xiaomi Poco F3 or Poco X3 Pro users? You can now Download Google Camera for Poco F3 and Poco X3 Pro (Gcam APK) here.

It is because when you use night sight you have to open the options and disable "astrophotography".
By the way, last bsg gcam version (mgc_8.1.101_A9_GVq_MGC.apk) is working fine on poco f3, I can use the 3 sensors and quality is already way better than defaut cam on main sensor. I hope someone can create a good configfile.xml for our device so we can unleash the potential of the camera which seems not really well handled by default software and settings.
