Problem with Swift Black (rooted, clean stock OOS 5.1) - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hello.
I'm trying to apply this theme (bought on Play Store of course) and it doesn't work asides for already themed apps from OOS dark theme.
Is there anything special to do in order to make it work ?
Thanks for your help.

Did you choose Oxygen version in the left top corner of the app list? Swift black is working well for me on OB6.

Same thing happened tonme..infact none of substratum themes working. overlay getting installed successfully but nothing is getting themed..not even after a reboot..tried clearing cache nd dalvik but still nothing..

It was a little tricky for me to but here's what I did
1. Open Swift black selected OOS from the top drop down
2. Make sure your select the option for every app that has a drop down confirming your app version# for each one Instagram, play store etc....
3. Click the FAB SELECT BUILD /UPDATE
4. repeat step 2
5. click FAB SELECT BUILD/INSTALL
make sure you the "THEME INSTALLED WITH NO ERRORS" message in status bar wait 30 sec for system UI to restart you should notice some changes now

Thanks, it works for me.
The steps are different in custom ROM tho (OmniROM case)
1- Build and update
2- Reboot
3- Activate
Yep, it's odd imo ,but that's how it works lol

Or, after installing the themes, reboot. Then go back into substratum to the manager page and select all themes and then enable selected. You will have to reboot again for apps like Google to to theme. Enjoy.

Finally, a theme for Roger's HTC Dream Owners

Guys, I've got the Hero theme (created by Soulife) running on my Roger's Dream:
Actual Image of phone (i know you would want proof):

Some screen shots taken with ddms:

Instructions:
(Of course what you do with your phone is on you, blah blah blah so don't blame me if something goes wrong)
1. Get root on your RD (Roger's Dream)
2. Download the soulife's Hero theme for Roger's Rom
Media Fire Download Link
3. rename the download to "update.zip" and place on the root of your SD card
4. Power your Phone off
5. While Holding down Home Button, start holding down Power button as well hold both until Rogers Logo appears
6. Make a Nandroid Backup
NOTE: if step 6 gives you an error saying sdcard not found, just try it again, mine usually give an error 2 times then works on the 3rd
7. Once the Cyan's Recovery image loads, select "apply update.zip from sdcard"
NOTE: if step 7 gives you an error saying sdcard not found, just try it again, mine usually give an error 2 times then works on the 3rd
8. Once it says done, then select the option to reboot.
The phone will reboot and may time 2 - 5 minutes at the HTC logo, this is normal. It it takes longer than 10-20 minutes use the nandroid backup to do a restore of your boot, system, and data ".img" files via adb and fastboot.
Very cool!! how is the performance? I've read some postings that say it was clunky and others saying it was fine. Right now I'm running Open Home and have a few themes for that. Sometimes it seems like it has to catch up to load the home screen but for the most part it's just as fast as stock (from what I can remember).

This works great! Make sure you install Weather Widget 2.0 to get the full effect (hero style flipper clock and weather)
Hey, just wanted to say thanks to mburris, for the post. Was a simple update to do. I suppose it's a good teaser until we got some ROM's happening on the Rogers Dream. I haven't found any significant lag with this theme myself. My biggest issue was, I was using ahome as default, and it took me about 15min to figure out how to change it from the default. Although, some settings will show up in either desktop mode, for example a different dialer (much better than the original colours)
This has already been done the rom is called MAXIMARv1.1
Update went swell. Easy as strawberry-rhubarb pie.
Some screenshots:
My only problem with the theme is the music widget is still white. Not a big deal, but maybe in an update?
Thanks a lot!
This is so very awesome. Thanks for the work!!
Update took 10 minutes
What does this all change?

It changes the artwork (probably mostly for icons) in the following apps:
AlarmClock.apk
Browser.apk
Calculator.apk
Calendar.apk
Camera.apk
Contacts.apk
GoogleSearch.apk
HTCAlbum.apk
HTCLauncher.apk
Mms.apk
Music.apk
Phone.apk
Settings.apk
Vending.apk
It changes the system images and colors in these apks:
framework-res.apk
services.jar
other than that, it doesn't change any thing
the status bar doesnt change on virtududes v3, maybe I missed something...

That’s what I thought, just cosmetic [Which I love, thanks again!] But it seems to be running smoother. I know there shouldn’t be a reason for that, but it just seems to run smoother…

Well, I am using Weather Widget Paid version.
You could also use Beautiful Widgets.
They are pretty much direct copies of the Hero widgets.
EDITED: Removed the not-so-legal bits.

hey guys, quick question: how would we revert back to the original theme if we choose not to keep this one?
Cool! Thanks mburris, works exactly as described.
A few questions for a noob if someone could help.
Is rooting the Rogers Dream the same as what is posted in the how to forum?
As well as using nandroid backup and cyanogen's recovery is it all the same steps as what is posted in the how to part of the development forum?
Thanks in advance!

Is this what you want:
Here's how:
1. Connect your device via USB
2. Get to your ADB shell
Code:
G:\SDK\tools>adb shell
3. get into your system\app folder
Code:
cd system/app
4. Remove existing Music app
Code:
rm Music.apk
5. Exit the shell
Code:
exit
6. Download the attached Music.zip file, extract it to your folder that adb is in, in my example its in G:\SDK\tools
7. from a command prompt, make sure you are in your tools folder and type:
Code:
adb install Music.apk
that should do it, no reboot required

Restore your nandroid backup

[APP][CM9][AOKP]Google Now for ARM7 Devices[UPDATED]

Requirements:
Follow the simple instructions here.
You MUST be rooted
You should be running a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) or Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP). I use CWM, so this guide is based on that.
Your device must be using ARMv7 CPU architecture. If you aren't sure what that is, check this thread.
You must have a file explorer that has root permissions. I use ES File Explorer, so this guide is based on that.
You need at least 60MB of system space for the full offline installation. (30MB for online only version) If you don't know how to check, simply download Titanium Backup from the market. It tells you right on the main screen.
If you are not a noob and know what to do already, please skip this. The permissions are listed at the bottom for easy reference, should you need them.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Download whichever zip you want. If you need to save /system space, download the the smaller, online-only package, otherwise get the normal one for the full experience. There is also a version of each which removes the "double-take" condition of the app. This is where it loads the results twice. The one that loads the results twice formats search results properly on the first try, but does not auto launch some cards. The non-double-take version may not format some search results properly, but auto launches tasks such as navigation and texting. Choose whichever one you prefer. If you have questions, please don't quote this entire post. Simply edit out the part you have a question about.
Update: Each version listed has the full version and the Offline only version. Pick the one you want and flash it. If you aren't sure which one to use, or if this is too much information or is otherwise overwhelming for you, just flash the M7 version - Offline/Online, since it's the latest. Be sure to scroll down a bit and read about it, though.
Before doing anything, you need to make sure you have at least 60MB of free space on your /system partition for Offline/Online files and 30MB of free /system space for Online Only files.
Flashable ZIPs
[*]M7 - mikeyxda's version 7. This version improves on M6 by tweaking notifications to be more accurate and frequent. This version may use more battery. If you are using a Sense ROM, see the troubleshooting below for a hack to improve Google Now performance and battery efficiency.
Online/Offline via Mediafire - 36.48MB /Hotfile mirror
Online Only via Mediafire - 14.06MB /Hotfile mirror
M7 Update - 3.97MB /Hotfile mirror
M7-Velvet.apk Only
[*]Inverted M7 - This is identical to the M7 files from above, except the colors are inverted, so that it has a black background instead of white, and white text instead of black. If you already have Google Now flashed, you can simply perform the update to this version.
Online/Offline via Mediafire - 36.81MB /Hotfile mirror
Online Only via Mediafire - 14.04MB /Hotfile mirror
Inverted M7 Update - 4.30MB /Hotfile mirror
M7inverted-Velvet.apk Only
[*]M6 - Mikeyxda's version 6. This version has improved on the previous one by fixing the double take problem, typed searches are working, auto launch is fixed, as well as the following fixes from the previous version: Red mic with cards showing with no refresh needed, no FCs, offline dictation, and no stretched words. These zips all use zipalligned apks.
Offline/Online via Mediafire - 36.43MB /Hotfile mirror
Online only via Mediafire - 14.01MB /Hotfile mirror
M6 Update - 3.92MB /Hotfile mirror
M6-Velvet.apk Only
[*]R3 - "Nearly there" version by ReekoTubbs. This version has the Red mic with cards showing with no refresh needed, no double take, no FCs, offline dictation, auto-launch, no blank screen, and no stretched words. These zips all use zipalligned apks.
Offline/Online via Mediafire - 36.48MB /Hotfile mirror
Online only via Mediafire - 14.07MB /Hotfile mirror
R3 Update - 3.97MB /Hotfile mirror
R3-Velvet.apk Only
How to:
- Move the file you picked to the root of your SD card. Don't put it in any folder. This just makes it easier to find.
- Reboot your device into recovery. See your device's specific instructions on how to do this if you are not sure. Google it for a faster answer.
- In CWM, navigate to "Install zip from SD" and select that.
- Next, highlight "Choose zip from SD card" and select it.
- Scroll down to the Google Now zip you loaded onto your SD card, then select it.
- Scroll down and select the option that says "Yes - Install Google Now....zip"
- Once it has flashed, go back to the main CWM menu and select "Reboot system now".
Double Checking:
- Let the ROM boot all the way, then fire up ES File Explorer (or whichever one you feel like using). We need to make sure a few permissions stuck (just in case).
- If you haven't used ES File Explorer before, open it, then hit menu.
Tap settings, then scroll all the way down.
Check the box that says "Up to Root" (pic).
Then check the box that says "Root Explorer"
Allow root access when the dialogue box for Superuser pops up.
After that, check off "Mount file system", then back out of the menu. (pic)
- Navigate to /system/usr/srec/ and find two folders named "config" and "en-US"
- Tap and hold on the "config" folder icon to bring up the options menu, then scroll down to Properties.
- Tap properties, then tap change and see if the check boxes match this picture.
- If it matches, leave it alone and head back to your home screen to enjoy using Google Now! If it doesn't match, change it so it does.
- Do the same thing for the "en-US" folder.
- Go into the settings menu for Google Now and set it up for your Google account and various other settings.
Now What?
So, you flashed Google Now. You're wondering what you can do with it, right? Well, thankfully, Killer-B has a handy little guide to get you up to speed on all the cool stuff Google Now can do as well as how to do it!
Commands & Now Cards For Google Now!!! Now Video, and custom widget
Troubleshooting
1.) The red mic screen won't display.
To fix this, press the normal mic within the Google Now app. While it is listening (after it beeps), press menu > refresh. Now you're at the red mic.
2.) Can't exit the Google Now app with the back button.
Use the Home button.
3.) Google Now Force Closes.
Make sure you have enough space on your /system partition before installing this. You need at least 60MB free for the Offline versions and 30MB free for the Online versions.
4.) Sports cards aren't showing up.
It won't add teams that aren't in season. American football is currently in preseason. Baseball, however, works perfectly fine.
5.) I want Google Now in another language than US English.
From the Google Now home screen with the cards, tap Menu, then Settings. Tap Voice, then Language and select the language you want recognized. The text of Google Now in searches and regular cards should mirror that of your system language.
6.) My phone exploded.
Have a muffin.
If, for some reason, you want to remove Google Now and return to how you were before, flash the following zip. It removes all Google Now files, and returns the original Google Search app and voice files, as well as sets permissions for the Search app.
Google Now to Google Search via Mediafire- 629.35KB /Hotfile mirror

Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 SM-G1600 Hacks and Mods

Feel free to add if you have any mod or hack on G1600.
Starting with Volume boost. If you are not satisfied with the speaker volume output on your "Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 SM-G1600", download the attached "Volume Boost" mod and install through twrp. Don't forgot to Wipe Dalvik Cache before rebooting back to system. Volume increase Guaranteed . Even you may want to decrease the volume a bit after applying this mod.
I am using ZCU1APK1 . Rooted and supersu installed. Following xposed version working fine with it.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862685344
Enable Google Assistant on Your SM-G1600
Open Settings --> Applications --> Application Manager, choose Google and clear Google app data. Then Install CCSWE App Manager ( Root ) from Playstore. Open the app and search for Google app, press on Google Assistant and press show icon. Now go back to the home screen and search for the Google Assistant and launch it finish the setup and it should work with long press home, you can also hide the icon after it works.
Does the volume boost only adresses to the speaker? Or to the headphones too?

Headphone too. But, I would suggest to install V4A and DAP to get best output from headphone. And present volume settings I posted, is quite annoying !! I think it is too high. So, before trying it , take a backup of your existing mixer file.
I will be updating this thread with a complete stock based deodexed, zipaligned, bloatware free ( as much I can ) - and tweaked ROM to give better battery and speed. I think I can make the volume better in my ROM with new settings.
New ROM published as promised. Please check following thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...-optimized-eng-rom-samsung-folder-2-t36282551
I'm having issues with Google Assistant. Every time I enable it, it disappears again. I also can't get it to work with the long press of the home button (keeps going to Now on Tap).
What's going on? I tried resetting the Google App and Google Play Services (delete all data)
And I also made sure my language was set to English (US)
Exact same thing happening with me. So, now concentrated on ROM. 1st stock based ROM released with bloatware removed and mostly in english. You may try to flash OpenGapp Aroma based installer to enable Google assistant when flashing the ROM, though I already added ro.opa.eligible_device=true in build.prop, but still having issue to make it work with OpenGApp nano. Not yet tried the AROMA version which is having the function to enable Google Assistant on your ROM. Feel free to research a bit and share your output.
Another problem, this is regarding Google Now and the Pixel Launcher
Have you tried moving the Pixel launcher to /system/app or /system/priv-app ?
Every time I try to convert to a system app it disappears.
What am I doing wrong?
---------- Post added at 08:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:31 PM ----------
I fixed the Pixel Launcher on my stock rom (rooted with magisk)
1. install as a regular app > adb install
2. Use a file explorer or adb to move the entire directory of the pixel launcher to /system/app
3. rename the folder to base (since the name of the apk is actually base.apk
4. Set permissions. You will need to change the APK permissions, folder permissions, and also the permissions for OAT and the folder inside of it.
5. Reboot
6. Go to applications, show system applications, and find the pixel launcher
7. Hit disable, it will prompt you to restore factory version.
8. Re-enable
9. Done! Select default apps, home screen, pixel launcher
10. Swipe left for google now
Still haven't figured out assistant. I await your response on that.
i added in /system/priv-app
Hello. I need verry urgently rom with goole services and all tweakes enabled. Pixel Look Alike Setup Guide Galaxy S7

I AM NOT A DEVELOPER, I in no way claim to have made any of this myself, I'm just here to say how I manage to get as close to having Pixel software on my Galaxy S7 G930V as possible.
Basically I'll divide this into three main areas. ROM, Add-on Mods, and Apps.
Read All the way through before starting so as to not miss anything.
Also the add-on mods are installed at the same time as the ROM. That way you keep safety net and what not.
Lets start with the ROM, I am using Ufirm_QE2_Hybrid_Nougat_Rom_FlashFire_Install Status Official For VZW S7FLAT by CVertigo1 / jrkruse

Give this guy @umaro some thanks he worked on this until it became reality even when I gave up
These first 2 step must be done first unless you are on my previous version of this rom or my carrier specific rom that do not have root or if your unsure just do this first
This Will Wipe Your Phone
1. Unzip UFIRM_G930_Odin_Firmware.zip and flash all files in odin
2. Go through setup ignore invalid sim message and skip adding accounts
3. Go to Step 3 Below

To Flash Files in Odin simply launch Odin (Downloads later)
click on each button (Labeled BL, AP, etc.) and select their respective files that were extracted from the archive.
Each respective file's label has each corresponding label. (AP at the beginning of the file name, means put it in AP slot)
Then boot phone into download mode, press home, download, and volume down keys all simultaneously.
Connect it to computer and press the begin button in Odin.

Options I selected in Aroma:
Verizon Stock
NoName System UI Mods
Open Source Ad Blocking
Pixel Boot Animation
Manual Debloat
Removed Every thing except Samsung TTS and Samsung Gallary / Camera (you can remove if you prefer to use google camera, DO NOT REMOVE if you plan on using zero camera.)
I don't use the google camera because on my S7 the video records the audio out of sync with the video, I haven't figured out how to fix it. but zero camera allows me to use Photos app instead of gallary so.... yea. (Requires a purchase of the root app for alt gallery)
That's about it for the ROM install.
**note these were installed in FlashFire with the ROM so as to pass safty net.
Now here are the add-on mods I used:
Open-GApps - to get pixel icons, and connectivity service
Android 8 Emojis
iYTB Vanced (Modded YouTube)
Google Lens
Zero Camera Mod
Copy those mods onto internal storage with the ROM install and add them into FlashFire during the ROM install. Place them after the ROM zip, but before the Format Cache / Wipe System less Super SU.

THANKS A TON DEVS!!!! :good:  :good:
Let me know if anybody has anything else they have done to get this close!
I appreciate you putting all the links and mods into the same place. I have never flashed using FlashFire before (on a G930V) and this was an excellent guide for me.
My only trip up was I didn't understand the language about Camera/Google Camera/Zero Camera Mod and I tried installing the zero mod while debloating the camera off. So I will have to go back and do that.
I skipped the "flashables" youtube, emoji, lens but may end up going back for those.
Thanks again.
Update: I found a cool way to have the new Google now page in the launcher.
Launcher App:
First is the actual app. Typicaly I would just say use Nova but on the pixel launcher the Google Now page looks different than on other third party apps. I wanted this look, so here is how I found a way to get that new Google Now pag to appear on other launchers.
Step one, if you installed Google lens mod, you should be able to get the pixel launcher from the play store, if not get it from XDA labs or APK mirror. Set Google. Set it as your default launcher. Next you will need any third party launcher and Tasker. I'm using Lawn chair Launcher. (On Google play). Use button mapper pro to map pressing the home button to launch third party app. Go into Tasker and make a task, so that whenever Google pixel launcher is launched, open third party launcher. As long as the pixel launcher is set as your default, the new Google now page will appear in apps like Nova and action launcher.
I'm *loving* this so far. Thanks to you and the devs that have worked on each stage of this.
I'm doing:
Verizon Stock
No UI Mods
No Ad Blocking
Pixel Animation
"PlayStore" Edition (not BS free, not manual)
Flashing GApps
Flashing Emoji
My only issue is like you described with the camera. It was working initially and then it updated and the update is causing problems. Also, the double home button launch doesn't work without a 3rd party app (and with screen off with no root).
So I can either figure out a way to always ignore camera app update and use a 3rd party app for launch (screen on only)
or
Will the S8 camera option include the gallery app and not be cleared by the "PlayStore" option?

I believe so, however I don't know, this would be a better question to ask in the ROM's Thread. the link is in the OP
It says you flashed open gapps, does it just re write over existing gapps with no problems

(Solved) Moto Z Play Oreo with Substratum+Andromeda not working

I've read reports from users with the Moto z variant (not z play) having successfully applied rootless substratum themes. I've setup substratum and Andromeda plugin to install the Swift black theme and the overlays are installed but I cannot enable them. I have security patch April and aware of Google's decision to disable any custom overlays automatically. The work around was to install an overlay (with Andromeda enabled), reboot, then enable it in the manager tab of substratum. The problem is when I reboot then enabling Andromeda, the overlays don't show for managing but in offline mode they show up.
Mine is working with out any problems

That's good to hear that it works for our phone. How did you go about actually enabling the overlays? I tried enabling Andromeda first then install the overlays then rebooted to then enabling Andromeda again but the option to enable doesn't show nor show any overlays. Maybe it's the theme I'm using?
Make sure you did enable selected theme after rebooting
Mine is working ?
You need to do following:
1. enable andromeda with the script
2. compile and update selected theme (don't apply it)
3. reboot
4. enable andromeda again
5. apply the theme from substratum app
btw @DroneDoom your substratum app looks different then mine, are you using latest (922)?

Yes I just tampered with the settings to use night theme. I tried using Swift black substratum theme (Nexus/pixel version) using your method and it doesn't do anything on step 5.
Did you granted storage permissions for substratum?

Yes. I even granted substratum access to install from unknown sources.
Maybe it's something with the theme? Did you tried other? Since oreo apeared I use Dejan's themes and everything works ok.

I tried the nineteen theme and nothing... Actived plugin, build & update, reboot, enable plugin again, enable selected. The overlays never turn green just stay pink and notice no change regardless.
Something has came to my mind is it possible that an app called "Island" might be affecting this? What it does is creates a sandboxed partition and creates a copy of the system partition for sandboxing apps. I've noticed my overlays copy over to there when substratum has done it's compilation.
The partition runs in parallel with my personal profile while the other is designated as a "work" profile.
try this theme Swift Black Substratum Theme +Oreo & Samsung theme that's the one i'm using, also be sure if when compiling see any errors that's why is not applying it, I had some at the beginning, the apps that were throwing where the docs apps , for those i exclude them from compile, after that all went smooth

Well you answered yourself
Just an update, still not able to activate overlays. I've uninstalled the partition that an app created that I thought was the problem. Reinstalled substratum and tried the process again, no luck.
I really don't have a clue then. Maybe ask in official g+ community.
does substratum also applies its themes to google apps? like google calendar?

Yes it does
After leaving this alone for a bit, I finally got it to work. The Andromeda plugin works well with magisk Su and performed the same method as mentioned here in this thread.
I cant'use substratum.
I have installed Andromeda and run the script . The andromeda app Grant the acces ( Green) but When i open substratum all show me verification failed.
Have you any ideas
