Hi everyone. I haven't been able to get this phone to successfully connect in both Windows 8.1 x64 and Linux Mint 17 in File Transfer mode. The other connection method, 'Transfer Photos (PTP) works though. I suspect it is a driver problem. I have tried searching online via Device Manager but it encounters an error when it tries to install an MTP driver.
I have also searched Xiaomi's English site and I haven't found any drivers for download. Their PC suite was last updated in 2015 and and so, I haven't bothered with it because I don't think it will be compatible with this phone.
I'm surprised that Xiaomi doesn't have a driver on their site. I have read about a supposed driver in the Realtek 8169 folder. However, that's not my Realtek model and so I don't have it. I'm also reluctant to download a driver from any 'unknown' sites.
Please help.

When I connect my tp2 to my windows 7 pc it says, Generic RNDIS Driver not found.
i would like to sync my device with outlook. bluetooth works, but USB is faster.
Can somebody help me??
The first time I connected it used windows update to find the drivers it needed. Make sure you are connected to the net. Download (if update has not done it for you) and run windows mobile device center.
All this happened automatically the first time I connected.
Is there a place to download these drivers?
It prevents me from tethering.
Obviously if I need to tether, I have no internet connection to download the driver. (Catch 22)
I had this issue on my Titan, and I used to keep the drivers on the SD card. I could install from there and be online.

Hi All,
I have been unable to get my oppo n1 (CM edition) to connect to my home PC (win8 x64). This is annoying as my work PC (also win8 x64) detected and interacts fine with the MTP end point on the phone when connected via USB cable.
Could someone take a look at their drivers when their phone is connected and if possible zip them up for me? i would grab the ones from my work place but it just when friday afternoon and i cant believe this is such a hassle for me.
for the record, my home system currently detects the oppo as USB\VID_22D9&PID_2764\58E10EA
all the other drivers i have found are either for the ADB end point or some other PID.
no, secure boot is too much hassle as wrangling inf files can wait till monday i guess.
TIA to anyone that responds.
ms_comp_mtp
welp i think i have traced this down to a strange fault in just my own PC.
tested my oppo on a win7-x64 machine - installs fine.
I am comparing the setupapi logs to see any divergences and have found one.
my win8 box windows is not "seeing" the usb\ms_comp_mtp "compatible ID" (this is the magic that allows one driver to match many different VID/PIDs, thus a generic MTP driver should work for anything that advertises it self as MTP).
Now for the hard question of why that isnt being sent/seen by my box...
also to add to the mystery - PTP mode works fine, just MTP gives me grief.
While my own journey is far from over, ive learnt the C:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log file is quite useful for assisting in figuring out what isnt working when it comes to device driver installations.
I am happy to have a mod close this off, given this problem appears isolated to just my machine.
I'm trying too downgrade to stock 444. It's said to install drivers. When I connect to my win 7 laptop it says drivers installed fine. Article I'm following says to look for com and lpt port option in device manager and expand it. If it's not there install lg drivers from their site. There is no com anything in device manager. Using the driver software from lg site says installed good but then Windows says not installed. Still no com anything.
How can I get this working? Thanks.
Did you connect device in download mode?
Don't know. All I did was connect it to the laptop. Then I hear the laptop make sound when you connect a usb device. It makes it several times and don't try to install drivers. Nothing happens.
I have also connected it and then did the install pc drivers that pops up on the phone to do. That opens the installer on laptop which tries installing drivers. Windows then says the drivers were not successfully installed.
Using the drivers from the lg web site Windows still says not installed successfully.
Anyone please?
I have a Oneplus 3, and after I updated my laptop's Windows 10 to the new Anniversary Update (I'm not sure what's the reason, so I mentioned this, just in case), it fails to recognize the MTP option when I connect the phone to my laptop. Although, it is able to recognize the phone in P2P (Photo Transfer) mode and wholly recognizable on my Ubuntu on the same laptop and other Windows laptops/PCs apart from mine.
I tried updating the driver software from the Device Manager but it shows the following error:
Code:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting
to install it.
[MTP Device Symbol]
A service installation section in this INF is invalid.
Thank You
When clicking on the "Driver update" find Android device, and MTP. There should be 2 options. Select an option, and if it isn't working, select the other. Hope i helped
Hey guys,
I'm facing a problem: my W10 PC won't install the phone's usb drivers at all. It stay with the yellow sign and can't find the drivers anywhere - not even through Win Update.
I searched for them everywhere I could and without any positive results.
Do you know or have the USB drivers for this phone so I can install them manually?
On my laptop, there are no problems and I tried exporting all the drivers installed on the laptop and load them onto the PC but didn't find any driver so the PC could extract them. I can't access my internals on my PC cause of this.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
Solved: Apparently, Windows 10 Home Ed. is not capable of installing any kind of USB drivers (MPT, file transfer, fastboot, USB-debugging - nothing worked) for the device but re-installing with the Windows 10 Pro version, the phone got detected instantly and fully without any problems. Razer CC wasn't helpful at all, this time.
