Hey I was just going through the Google phone app forum and saw you have the tmo branded Moto z2 also, my question is are you using the stock dialer and if it is possible to get Google phone apk that is signed by Google and not that other person. Other question is how do I re enable my RCS service as TMO will be launching universal RCS soon. Thank you in advance for any kind of information. @skywalker-live

To get the Google phone app from the play store I'm using a magisk module from the repo (yes the module says for OP 5/5T but it does work).
As far as rcs services my understanding is that is replacing sms and would be covered with the Google messages app. How did you disable your rcs services? I didn't know there was away to disable it, just that we're waiting for tmo to enable their end for the support.

I got the RCS info from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2...-how-to-3rd-party-sms-apps-root-t3661703/amp/ , also what is the magisk? Do I need to be rooted or can I do it without root?

That thread is old, the "bug" with texting was fixed with the 26.7 nougat firmware update. Then reappeared in 27.0 Oreo update and was fixed with the current firmware 27.1 Oreo. Twards the end of that thread is the suggestion to use Android messages, which works great for me both back on nougat and now on Oreo I didn't have to make and modifications to my device for that.
Also that thread makes it sound like TMobile is already using rcs, the problem is it's their own profile instead of the universal one that is being promised.
Magisk is a root manger that can also make modifications to the system without actually touching the system partition.
70-90% of what is found on xda is dependent on being rooted. This phone (motorola) requires breaking the Motorola warranty to unlock the bootloader to be able to root. Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the device.
Having a rooted phone is a great responsibility to read everything about what you do to it and understanding the risks involved, knowing how to fix it before doing the modification. Also keeping everything straight between current and old methods, things can change in a matter of weeks. Developers sometimes change phones every 6 months.

Thanks for this! I disabled it. I want my phone running as lean and mean as possible.
If you own the phone outright, paid in full, they should disclose what they are doing to it. I cleared and froze right after upgrading.

This was also present on S6 and forward. Not new, but this should never have been added in the first place. I don't want random games on my phone.
I tried to disable but asked "Would you like to replace app with factory version?" Is another app that does the same thing going to replace it? I can't disable DT ignite if I don't click yes

Its because DT ignite has updates installed. Click yes and it will put the "factory" non-updated version back on the phone. Then it will allow u to disable as normal.
Thanks so much for the find.

DT ignite is a cancer waiting to spread. Forcing apps to install onto the device that has almost half its storage already taken by bloat. Haven't seen any apps besides the beam software install without my permission, had to install Nextradio manually ( which has annoying ads ). DT Ignite could one day install an app that can compromise your phones security due to programming flaws. All quickrooter exploits have been patched, however if it feels like a Trojan it is a Trojan
Just updated my VZ Galaxy S6 edge plus 64gb and this Cancerous AIDS is in that update as well. Before my eyes I had apps appearing like magic installing themselves one by one.
This is worse than most phones that have crap in their root preinstall folder that show up after every restart
Haven't had anything wacky installed, it's even installing an updated Instagram not from the Google play store
Long story short, Google's blocked in China and my dad will be commuting back and forth to and fro from there, so he just wants to be able to use OOS but without GApps, like in China. Searched but couldn't really see any OOS-based ROMs that supported going GApps-less. Help?
I think I am missing the problem? If Google is blocked in China that just means he needs to sideboard his apps while he is there or wait till he is home to install. Why would you not install them? It's not like the phone won't work if Google services get blocked. Just use different search engines and/or browser and you should be fine.

Doesn't help with the background stuff. I've tried disabling it on his Note 3, and it resulted in a loop of "com.process.google.gapps has crashed" and I want to avoid that. And I might as well just go without if I'm going to disable it.
How about flashing the Chinese ROM (Hydrogen OS)? Surely that one won't contain any of the Google services/apps. I'm based in China and have gone google-less for quite some time (even in Europe actually, those services are a huge drain and alternatives are available). There's 2 ways to get apps on the phone without using Google's Play store, 1) install Xiaomi/Huawei/... app store or 2) use Raccoon (search on XDA) to download apps from GPS on your PC and then side-load them on the phone. An even better solution is to install Raccoon on a server, have a script download the latest versions once a week, have a script erase the older versions and share the apk's through Nextcloud/OwnCloud/... with your phone (grats you've got your own app store )
hi , i want enable messages app sms delivery reports but it dosnt exist! (Settings-->More Settings-->Text Messages).
i can enable it from csc features but i cant root my device! how i can enable it without root?
@mahdi72, you do know that we can root Nougat now? I posted a link to a modified SuperSu in my thread.
If that won't work for you for some reason, you will need to try a 3rd party app.

In my understanding, SMS delivery reports are per carrier only. And from what I read sprint doesn't do it.

Third-party apps, like WhatsApp for example, support delivery notice regardless of carrier. However, both parties need to use the same app.

Ahh yes. That is completely different though. That usually uses data to send "hidden" information in the background about the states of the messages. Regular SMS without data sending, that requires the carrier to inform the sender if the message was sent/read/delivered. I know Verizon to Verizon used to do it.
For what its worth for the sake of this thread, I have enabled them for Sprint in the software on the phone, but nothing happens. The delivered/read report is never given to me
After the update this morning my device is official in settings but in play store it's uncertified and Google play thinks I'm rooted....
Sort of the same issue. I downloaded Safetynet check and it says CTS Profile mismatch. Now I can't use Android Pay to charge my car.

On another note do you think this could be an exploit used for root ?

Great. Mine shows mismatch, BUT, just used Samsung Pay about 15 minutes ago

But it's an issue if Android pay does not work. I don't use it as samsung pay works fine. It's just the fact that Google thinks our brand new phones are rooted/modified.
Perhaps some devious plan on Samsung's part to force owners to use Samsung Pay vs Android pay.
I never use Android pay because not enough places have the right terminals installed.

Was just on twitter with T-Mobile help discussing this and they indicate they are aware of the issue and have a team working on it --- we'll see. It must be something that the phone companies are doing wrong with their software updates. Yesterday I could add a card to Android Pay and today after the update I could not.

Everyone!!!! It's not an issue with the software from samsung... If you download the latest Google play services 11.0.33 the device will pass safetynet check, store will show certified and Android pay will work as expected!!! I did this and it worked for me on my S8+.

How can you update? I currently have version 10.2.98 installed and the play store does not reflect an update.
Well it seems like they are changing their stance on the issue. I reached out to T-Mobile via Twitter Support, last night, and they have informed me that they are aware of the issue and will fix in the next update. (Hoping soon)
Hey there! Thanks so much for reaching out about this and bringing it to our attention. We have noted this issue down and we are making adjustments for when our next update comes out from Samsung! Updated and still no joy.
I had been using the GPhone app that was provided by another dev, but it had a known issue where it wouldn't provide the call blocking/spam filtering features.
I recently ran across this article that shows a way to get these features working, and have the GPlay verison of the app download (and update) normally. I take no credit for the mod, but I did install it and it does work. I don't know if it call-blocks, but I guess I'll find out. I don't get many spam calls, but if someone else does please let us know that this sub-feature does work as intended.
Anyway, here's the article: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...blocking-business-search-any-android-0192637/
Basically, it's a Magisk module that allows you to download the Play store app. It says that you have to install the app after installing the module, but I found this happened automatically... so maybe something changed on the backend?
In case the article disappears or something, the official project is here on GitHub: https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/GoogleDialerFramework
Just wanted to share this, as it seems to work... again, if anyone can confirm the call-blocking features, that would be great!

I had too many issues with Xposed in the past (on previous phones), which is why I stopped using it on this phone. I also did not know that such a framework existed and was the solution to the blocking capability. It makes sense that Xposed could do this, though, as you have said.
Does that mean you confirm that the framework fixes the ability to call-block/filter?

Edit, the magisk module does it all. It just installs the framework. Then you just clear data from play store.
