I have a dual sim reteu with locked bootloader. After upgrading to 7.1.1, my hotspot is not working.
Actually, I didn't check hotspot before 7.1.1.
Anyone with the same problem. Or Anybody knows how to fix it? Thanks
You installed beta software, with that comes the risk of losing certain features. Android 7.1.1 hasn't been released officially by Motorola.

Sorry if I changed the subject, I'm still on android 6.0.1 (retla). You mean the OTAs that have posted are soak test? If so, I prefer to keep trying to get the official OTA. But I have the doubt, you mean 7.1.1, maybe the 7.0 that is in the forum if it is stable? If so, you can pass the official OTA link of 7.0. Thanks for your help
Has anyone tried magisk or xposed on emui Oreo?
Unfortunately,it not works.I tried it and as a result the phone could not boot
That's disappointing... I was hoping to get systemless xposed. Do you know where I can get the emui Oreo firmware? I want to flash the rros ROM but I'm not on the beta program.
Edit: If anyone is reading this you can get the emui oreo beta firmware from the L22 Indian thread - it is the same firmware and I can confirm that it works on L24. It almost certainly works on other BND devices as well. If you don't want to go that route you can also just wait for the official update in roughly a month.

Hi, Why don't you install emui 8 beta using the manual method as described in the other post. Even I'm not beta tester but I got it and after that I could also flash RR rom which becomes super easy to install once you are on oreo. Well, now I'm looking for a way to get root access. Also, the theme app is not working on emui 8 beta. Did anyone get any success with root on emui 8 beta?

have you trying root with magisk.. it's work for me
Magisk works for me and does give root on bnd l24. The modules are risky though
Hello,

2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ent/xposed-v90-beta-4-emui-8-0-t3810095/page2
sorry can't add this link for direct access...
Official Oreo 8.0 is out and I always wanted to try substratum theme engine so if anyone have tried successful rooting using magisk then plz share it. Thanks!
If you're wanting to use substratum, then on Oreo I don't think you need root. You'll need Substratum Andromeda (paid) and this guide from the Substratum developers: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/substratum/andromeda-desktop-clients-release-notes-t3668682
I know that app but rooting also let me use notification led and other stuff
Have you read this thread on rooting stock Oreo? https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-how-to-magisk-root-xposed-oreo-8-t3743273
Ya, but it is for 27.74 not for 27.76 built
I'm on official OTA and the link posted by echo92 worked for me
Well then I should give it a try, thanks
Ok, my phone got soft bricked
Hey, so I have the Canadian A5 2017 and have not received the Oreo update yet, once Its available for my phone i was planning on switching over to a custom Rom running Oreo 8.1 (can't yet since there's no oreo modem/boot loader available for my phone as far as I know). Just curious if it would be easier to root my phone now while it's on nougat and then install a custom Oreo Rom myself once the modem/bootloader are available?, or should I wait until I receive the Oreo OTA update and then root it after? Believe I read that there s a new boot loader lock of some sort that was introduced in the new new oreo that makes it a bit of a pain to unlock the boot loader. Also my phone is completely stock
Thanks for your help
Rooting on oreo is just a bit more difficult than nougat because of the rmm state, but there're a lot of way to bypass it easily. If you're on N just root without OTA updating oreo, but I don't know how many custom roms running stable oreo 8.1 exist. I had LineageOS 15.1 unofficial for A5 2017, great features but too buggy. Just look for something more stable
Obviously to flash a custom rom you need a custom recovery, but I think you knew it yet
Just a quick question and sorry ahead of time if I sound like a schumk, but if I rooted in Nougat can I do updates to Oreo without losing my root? Also can I change to the beta version of PIE without losing root? Please help and explain it to me thanks.

No. No root on Oreo or above. The bootloader we need for rooting is a nougat bootloader.
