Official Oreo 8.0 is out and I always wanted to try substratum theme engine so if anyone have tried successful rooting using magisk then plz share it. Thanks!
If you're wanting to use substratum, then on Oreo I don't think you need root. You'll need Substratum Andromeda (paid) and this guide from the Substratum developers: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/substratum/andromeda-desktop-clients-release-notes-t3668682
I know that app but rooting also let me use notification led and other stuff
Have you read this thread on rooting stock Oreo? https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-how-to-magisk-root-xposed-oreo-8-t3743273
Ya, but it is for 27.74 not for 27.76 built
I'm on official OTA and the link posted by echo92 worked for me
Well then I should give it a try, thanks
Ok, my phone got soft bricked

Hai before I upgrade to new AEX ROM my daily driver was viper OS I love customization so I use flux substratum theme also the flux fonts but you know after the upgrade I can use flux theme but there is no option in substratum anyone knows how to install fonts on the latest oreo build.:fingers-crossed:
AFAIK substratum themes dont work on oreo, you must flash font.zip on tpwr or, install the avaliables from Magisk Repo.

Substratum themes do work on Oreo. I fail to see where they have said that Oreo support isn't provided.
Here's a screenshot, just to let you know that it does work. I'm running DirtyUnicorns Oreo on my device.

Just download the Substratum app from the Play Store and a theme with some font included. Just make sure that the theme supports Oreo and then install the theme.
If it's just fonts you want to replace, try some app such as TypeFace.
Already have flux, compound and those have more than 3 or 4 fonts using from past years. There is no such option in the substratum.
Has anyone tried magisk or xposed on emui Oreo?
Unfortunately,it not works.I tried it and as a result the phone could not boot
That's disappointing... I was hoping to get systemless xposed. Do you know where I can get the emui Oreo firmware? I want to flash the rros ROM but I'm not on the beta program.
Edit: If anyone is reading this you can get the emui oreo beta firmware from the L22 Indian thread - it is the same firmware and I can confirm that it works on L24. It almost certainly works on other BND devices as well. If you don't want to go that route you can also just wait for the official update in roughly a month.

Hi, Why don't you install emui 8 beta using the manual method as described in the other post. Even I'm not beta tester but I got it and after that I could also flash RR rom which becomes super easy to install once you are on oreo. Well, now I'm looking for a way to get root access. Also, the theme app is not working on emui 8 beta. Did anyone get any success with root on emui 8 beta?

have you trying root with magisk.. it's work for me
Magisk works for me and does give root on bnd l24. The modules are risky though

Hi all, has anyone tried substratum + Andromeda on the 2xl vzw version since the pie update rolled out? Was having trouble with a theme and stopped substratum all together a while ago, but would like to try again if it supports Android P. Anyone know if it's working?

Yeah I'm using pitch black I'm on Verizon I don't think that matters. You need to use the beta 998 substratum. The newest versions in the telegram chat.
Edit. Sorry I misread the andromedia I'm using root. I'm not sure if it'll work rootless
Hmm, why are you using Andromeda on root? Thought Andromeda was only for those of on on vzw who couldn't root.

Yeah I'm not. I missed that part when I answered you.
Ok, well.
I saw that i can install android pie on my already rooted oneplus 5t (android oreo 8.1, OxygenOSS 5.1.7).
I downloaded the file from xda, updated TWRP at last version, downloaded also last Magisk version for rooting after updating my android version.
I got "Zip treble compatibility error" That i didn't know what is it so i searched and i found out that i had to remove the "compatibility" zip in the zip of that downloaded update.
I did it and it didn't worked again.
What is happening why i can't get android pie?
Also, are there any problems with this build? In searchings i read that the phone doesen't recognize the 100% of batterylife and keep get charged and can be ruined.
What if you download the android pie beta from the oneplus.com website. ive been using this for a month or so and it worked fine for me, especially when you're used to OOS.
So if i download the rom from there, i got no "Zip treble compatibility" error?
i can speak only for blu_spark software but this worked for me:
use TWRP 9.85 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=30332) to update FROM 5.1.7 to pie (remove compatibility.zip for this update)
once you are ON pi, install
TWRP 9.91 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=31102) for any update from now onwards (no need to remove the compatibility.zip any more)
use the rom from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/official-oxygenos-4-7-2-7-1-1-ota-t3709265
official rom: http://otafsg.h2os.com/patch/amazon...TOxygen_43_OTA_045_all_1901072301_6ada5c1.zip
I am going back becouse xposed framework is not supported on android pie
by the way i post here how i got pie from oreo becouse i faced lot of problems!
-First of all download the official update
-then, the only twrp i found that work is this: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/dumpling/twrp-3.2.3-0-dumpling.img.html the 3.2.3.1 didn't worked for me.
-i had to flash magisk uninstaller and then install magisk, i got bootloops before doing uninstall and then install.
Btw i am downloading another rom for 8.1 becouse xposed don't work for now on 9.
Any suggest for changing the rom? I am searching what to get
thanks anyway guys
I'm not sure where to post this but I'm still on samfail 7.1 rooted. Question is can I update to oreo or pie and gain root? I seen something about V5 and V6 bootloader can be rooted but not sure if that was for our snapdragon version and if I can just do maybe an update through odin? I'm missing xposed ugh...

It is my understanding that you can root the v5 and v6 booatloaders. However, the process of rooting is limited to Android 7.1. So, in essence of your wanted root and you were in v5 or v6 you would have to install Android 7.1 through the pseudo TWRP available to those of us on the Snapdragon version and not really gain anything new. There is no root for Android 8/9 at this time. Because we cannot unlock the bootloader, we are limited to root on Android 7.1 at this time regardless of your bootloader.

I wouldnt fret too much, as PIE is pretty good, after much thinking about what apps really require root on a daily basis the upgrade was worth it as i get better battery life and not need any processor/kernel mods.
stability is awesome no more daily crashes
PIE theme / launcher is pretty nice, and you can always mod the launcher out or just install a different one and mod that one as if it were rooted.
just a thought if you were panicking like i was about leaving root for stock life, its not as bad as it seems on PIE i still have the feeling im going to need root but havnt had the need for it.
