So I just got this phone and im trying to install TWRP, root and put a custom rom in it.
When installing TWRP I get " only official binaries are allowed "
When downgrading I get " SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 4, BINARY: 2 "
And I chose this Stock firmware SM-A520F_1_20170629171527_2zusihxm47_fac for the BL
OEM unlock is turned on
FRP Lock is turned off
Any Ideas?

Did some research and I need to wait it out. The RMM: Prenormal is messin up the flash. Ffs.. we bought the phone we should be able to do anything with it
Oh god... Look, you can't bowngrade your phone because of the bootloader. You can only update it. If you want to fix that RMM thing you have to wait up to 1 week without shutting down, or restarting your phone and without turning off the Wifi. If you do that you can flash twrp after a week and then inside twrp you can flash the rmm state fix (only official binaries)
Downgrade the boot to the newest 6.0 stock one alongside the newest 7.0, that's what I did to bypass the block Samsung put in
Please can you explain how you did it as I'm also stuck in the rmm lock. Did you inject the 6.0 shoot.bin into the 7.0 bootloader?

So go and download both the newest 6.0 and 7.0 stock Rom. Extract all the 7.0 into a folder except the boot.tar, open the 6.0 zip and just copy the boot.tar file and flash all of those like that. By doing so it should work unless there was an update after I did mine. Either way its worth giving it a shot

Okay so I need to update to 2.19.40 or 2.19.40.20.. I am currently at 2.15.40.13 I wanted to do this so I can unlock my bootloader. So I can Install Twrp And then finally install the custom rom for the device. Since I am already rooted its not letting me update the latest update for this. When i try to update my software it just brings me to the bootloader and sits there and does nothing else. I have no idea what to do, I have tried a lot and nothing seems to work, please help.
Model: Asus Zenfone 2 Z00AD/ZE551ML
Rooted/unRooted: Rooted

Software Version: 2.15.40.13
Flash OEM unrooted rom from Asus website, they have all versions. You can flash it threw oem recovery option of the bootloader. Just press up/down button until you see Recovery, then just press the Power button.
Are you not able to UNroot? download OTA, sideload update to .18 or .20 and then root, unlock bootloader flash custom rom with supersu granting root?
Unroot before fishing and flash each version sequentially until you get to the one you need to unlock the device.

I have tried to unroot through the root app on my phone with the "Full Unroot" option. And it does nothing.
Hopeful fix
I was having this issue too after rooting my phone for the first time. I'm not sure if the rooting method was the culprit, or if it was simply missing some components from the factory.
Anyways, what I did to correct the issue and get it to upgrade is this:
In MHP1995's resources thread, there's a link to stock recoveries, find the stock recovery for the version that you're currently running, download that recovery along with the boot img. I'm not sure if the boot img is really necessary, but in my desperate attempts to get upgraded, I overwrote the bootloader with a newer version. So might as well play it safe and download them both.
After they're downloaded, boot into the bootloader (adb reboot bootloader from within android, vol up + power if powered off). Connect your phone to your PC, and use the fastboot command to flash the recovery and boot img that you just downloaded.
After that, you should be able to get it to go into recovery mode. You can try it manually from the bootloader screen by pressing the vol down button until you see recovery mode, then press the power button. It should go into recovery. If it doesn't work, it will just go back to the bootloader screen.
Hope that works for you. Those are the steps I took, and was able to get it to apply OTA updates after that.
EDIT: After those steps, unroot and then run the OTAs

Why do you want to unlock the bootloader?
For the time being, there is no way to unlock the bootloader in MM. May be in the near future.
If you want to unlock the bootloader in MM, you need to temporarily downgrade the bootloader to Lollipop, unlock the bootloader and upgrade back to MM by the patched bootloader.

No.
To upgrade to MM from LP your firmware has to be at least 184.
You can use OTA or download the MM from ASUS site and install the MM in ADB environment with adb sideload command.
Do not upgrade MM via TWRP. MM install package does not compatible with TWRP. However, there is guide to modified the installation script in order to work with TWRP. The guide was written a year ago for Lollipop .
If your intention is to use custom rom in MM then you need an unlocked bootloader with custom recovery like TWRP.
In that case you need to unlock the bootloader in lollipop before you upgrade to MM. Like I said, there is no direct way to unlock bootloader in MM.
If your intention is to have rooted MM, then you do not need to unlock the bootloader.
You do not need to install the TWRP. You can use tethered TWRP to flash the super su zip file.

I answered your question in the other post.
Hi,
It would be best if somone with expirience, for example, when transition from Oeo to Pie happened, what happened with your unlocked bootloader.
Should i lock bootloader, remove magisk, etc
Or restart the phone to factory and erase, that sounds most likely to be safest.
Thanks
Well, u just have to update OTA if your system partition is untouched and if not flash 10.0.17 with MiFlash, update to Android 10 OTA and install Magisk with patched Boot. Thats all!
You could flash Android 10 directly but I doubt that fastboot ROM will be available directly.

Download the full rom
I downloaded the full rom from Asus website, the update was fine just dropping it at the root of internal storage. My is a chinese converted to WW firmware/fingerprint. All working fine so far.
I wonder where the VOLTE settings are, I find strange they are making it available for some regions only. Why not just make it available to everyone in any region? I can;t get my head around why VOWIFI and VOLTE is taking so long to get sorted. My oneplus 5 had this working fine 3.5 years ago!

If you're tencent to global (converted).
-locked Bootloader
-finger print should be WW
And flash the Full ROM not OTA
my bootloader was unlocked. Fingerprint was converted to WW. Not gonna flash OTA again if i can rescue my device.
Should I lock bootloader always before doing update ? I prefer to use rooted for blocking ads and easy backup/restore for titanium backup.

Unlocked bootloader but not rooted you can update through local upgrade. If you're rooted just unroot then after update root again
Ok, flashed full rom over twrp and rooted. Everything seem's fine now. Just dont pass safetynet test.

No need to unroot to update, or remove twrp. There's a couple of options.
For all instances FULL zip is required, as far as I'm aware
1. For those of you that are only rooted: (Recommended to disable magisk modules) Download the full zip, move to root of internal storage and reboot. System will detect and prompt to update, click update. Wait until it finishes but DON'T click 'restart', instead, click 'restart later'. Go to Magisk manager. Click 'install' for Magisk. Click the last option 'install to inactive slot after OTA'. Click confirm force flash. Reboot when prompted. Done - root kept intact.
2. For those rooted with TWRP you can either; A)
- Disable all magisk modules;
- Put rom.zip, twrp installer.zip and magisk.zip on your internal storage;
or B)
If you want you can also update a stock rom from phone settings with local upgrade:
- Update the Rom WITHOUT REBOOT;
- Open Magisk Manager;
- Menu/modules/+ button/select the twrp installer.zip and flash it;
- Always in Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Direct Install;
- Again in Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Inactive Slot;
- Reboot.
For all instances FULL zip is required, as far as I'm aware
Thanks to @mauronofrio for A and B and for all his (or hers lol) efforts generally

Got the Mi 11 5G NE recently and I'm wanting to install LineageOS on it as per the installation guide: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/lisa/install
However it says I must be on Android 12 and unfortunately I've already updated the phone to the latest Android 13 MIUI.
Just wondering if there's a reliable place to find the Android 12 stock firmware

MIUI Downloader will point you to the official ROMs
MIUI Downloader - Apps on Google Play
MIUI upgrade app for Mi users.
play.google.com
However, you would need to avoid downgrade protection (it can be done, you will have to download the Fastboot type ROM, unpack tgz, find a bat script inside that does not relock BL, edit the script to remove downgrade protection and use it then to flash manually via Fastboot - not by using MIFlash)
Btw, for any flashing you must first unlock the Bootloader (either for downgrading MIUI and/or for installing the custom ROM)

Can/should I re-lock the bootloader after either rooting or installing LineageOS? might just stick with rooted stock, haven't decided yet
