Traveling out of the country with my Pixel XL - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I have a Pixel XL on Verizon. I am currently rooted running Dirty Unicorns latest unofficial build. I am leaving for Iceland tomorrow. Would I be better off going back to stock when I travel?

My DU build for sailfish has been pretty stable and I use the same sources as Joe(the guy who made marlin build) so I honestly think using du would be ok

Have you traveled with a rooted phone? My past experience has been on stock. Just don't want to run into a problem without a computer.

Yeah I've traveled with a rooted phone, rooted with magisk. The only time I've ever had trouble with custom ROMs was with flashing updates, or with substratum. So just don't flash anything at all, and I would recommended disabling substratum. Other than that, root is pretty safe. DU is pretty rock solid too.

Thanks man that's good to know. DU is so smooth I was not looking forward to going back to stock .

Most stable rom?

To date; what is the most stable rom for the T700 model? Does NOT matter if it's based on KK or LP.
Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
Stock
Well, depends what you mean by stable.
Stock is the most stable.
CM12.1 is pretty stable at the moment, but deadman96385 is working on porting some stability improvements to it.
CM13 is stable-ish, but hasn't a working camera.
On the TW side of things, Supernova and IronROM are both stable.
Suppose I should have stated most stable custom (non-stock based) rom. Thanks for the replies though!

this according to me. Using it for several months. Not a single crash or FC yet.
[ROM][T805/T800][XXU1BOL1][27/12] PhoeniX ROM V2.0 [Big Aroma |Unique |Fast |Stable]

Most stable custom rom for T700 is probably either supernova or ironrom, both are rock solid

I'm using IronRom right now. Anyway to get the 5G WiFi working?
Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
I'd add TWDetox. Pretty solid and fast. As for the kernel I use skyhigh one.

Freedom OS for stock experience if you must have Dash.
If you want more customization and don't mind not having Dash the Resurrection Remix all the way.
The official one that is.

This is the best answer. Find a ROM that suits your needs and preference.

FreedomOS worked the best for me. OxygenOS is a tweaked version of Stock Android and everybody liked it. And then the some tweakings to the OxygenOS is pretty awesome and that's FreedomOS for you11

dmservice has stopped

So I flashed a new ROM and now am getting an error message saying the dmservice has stopped. Anyone have an idea how to fix that??
Give us more information.
What ROM did you flash?
Have you been changing ROM or updating?
Clean or dirty flash?
I was using beanstalk, clean flash and coming from dirty unicorns. I've flashed a few over the weekend and only have that error message when using that rom

Same here. For me it is with only certain ROM's. Tesla(after new update), Beanstalk, Slim and PAC. Pretty much all others work fine. I have tried everything all the way down to relocking bootloader and starting from scratch. Also, to make it even more irritatng, there is absolutely nothing I can find on good 'ol Google.
I'm assuming you're on Project Fi. DMservice is a service that is required to use the Sprint network on the phone. Usually this error occurs when the ROM you've flashed isn't fully compatible with Fi. You can try installing the Project Fi app and make sure you give it permissions to the Phone and location and see if that helps, but in my experience I've always just gotten annoyed and flashed a different ROM that supported Project Fi.
I'm not using project fi. I'm on Verizon if that makes any diffrrence

same here. no project fi an on verizon

WETA AUDIO 9.1. Thats the one i always use with stock rom. Works everytime. It should be on 1st or 2nd page of the roms thread. Dont use the 3.1 or any version. For me that didnt work but 9.1 works everything. My setup is stock rom with elemental x. I aroma i only install viper4androix and busybox
Oh cool thanks Alot.
I know exactly what that is. I have been using the 3.1 mods since it came out. I actually got it to work on past builds but u have to do so much to get it to work and I'm tired of doing that every month.
I still have the 9.1 saved in my storage because I used it long ago. Gonna try that.
Thanks again

I wish there was a V4A that worked with Android O.

You will have to flash the RC1 version of TWRP and then reboot into recovery before flashing the WETA 9.1 zip or it will not install.

Haven't tried, probably won't either. OxygenOS suits fine for me.
I've heard Omni ROM works great though, it's the ROM kernel section.

A working twrp would be a good thing also

https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/How-to-build-a-GSI?
Google is your friend, there probably bunch of other guides out there too.
This only build though, to add features and such you'll either need to cherry pick commits or code your own.
