So I flashed a new ROM and now am getting an error message saying the dmservice has stopped. Anyone have an idea how to fix that??
Give us more information.
What ROM did you flash?
Have you been changing ROM or updating?
Clean or dirty flash?
I was using beanstalk, clean flash and coming from dirty unicorns. I've flashed a few over the weekend and only have that error message when using that rom

Same here. For me it is with only certain ROM's. Tesla(after new update), Beanstalk, Slim and PAC. Pretty much all others work fine. I have tried everything all the way down to relocking bootloader and starting from scratch. Also, to make it even more irritatng, there is absolutely nothing I can find on good 'ol Google.
I'm assuming you're on Project Fi. DMservice is a service that is required to use the Sprint network on the phone. Usually this error occurs when the ROM you've flashed isn't fully compatible with Fi. You can try installing the Project Fi app and make sure you give it permissions to the Phone and location and see if that helps, but in my experience I've always just gotten annoyed and flashed a different ROM that supported Project Fi.
I'm not using project fi. I'm on Verizon if that makes any diffrrence

same here. no project fi an on verizon

Huge thanks to Cyanogen and the rest of the CM team for bringing us JB so quickly!
I've bounced between CM9 nightlies and CM10 previews and CM10 is just as stable (if not more so) then CM9. CM10 is still lacking feature completeness especially with regards to the CM enhancements but its getting there.
Now with official nightlies us flash junkies can get our fixes.

I just saw this too and I am downloading it now to flash it. I have been on the CM9 nightlies for about a week and love it. I have tried a few other TW ROM's but I just keep going back to CM9. Thanks again Cyanogen!!
I got an error when flashing with ROM Manager.. Setup wiz FCs and I have to boot into recovery and load up a rom on the sd card. IDK..
Getting error when flashing fron recovery ...assert/get prop error ..instalation aborted..

Does anyone know the proper way to flash these nightlies? Ie... do you have to reinstall gapps every time like the preview builds?

Yes. Gapps has to be flashed every time you update to a new release. Cm team and Google came to an agreement that gapps with not be included in any of their releases due to licensing. So they will never be included.
Does anyone else have an issue waking up the device with the physical home button? Sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 times pressing it to wake it up.

Make sure you have the very latest version of cwm. I have seen that offered as a solution in other threads. If that doesn't work try twrp. It can be installed easily from the goo manager app available from the play store. The CM team seems to prefer cwm but in my expierence twrp has been much more stable.

I flashed with TWRP and it installed fine.
I was having a issue with GMail screen flickering but after I wiped my cache and Davlik it fixed that problem.
Is anyone having an issue with Google Now saying there is no internet connection? Fixed - Just had to reinstall ROM
For those who gets status 7 error, or build prop or whatever, it is usually the recovery. You'll need a D2ATT recovery, such as this http://www.datafilehost.com/download-fed9a267.html
Once you have that recovery installed, wipe data/cache and install CM10 + gapps = profit.
I wonder when they will change the boot animation from cm 9 to say cm10??

Thanks for the link. I really like this one. Make sure you download the 720x1280 file or it will not fill the entire screen

Doesnt it depend on wether you do a dirty flash or not? I havent flashed gapps since the 8/08 build and everything is working fine so far
Hmm, any news on a final release of cm9? According to cyanogen, the att s III was planned to make it in. I'd rather have a super stable nostalgic cm9 to fall back on if things go array on the bleeding edge (cm10).

Is any body else having problems with GPS navigation? It was almost a mile before it refreshed my position, had to restore backup on the road.
Why is the official cm10 thread (in original development) still showing 8/14 build as the latest if there's a 8/18 build on the cm site?

Did anyone else try to install this yet? i'm using Carbon 4.3.1, and when i go into the play store i get that none of my devices are compatible. I have the new SE Sim card that is required.

i tried another gapps, still can not see it in the store, and if i try to install via a PC it says it can't be installed on any of my devices
also tried last night to transfer over the binaries and other files the stock rom along with the build.prop, but all it did was stop the phone from booting.
Is there a specific reason for the absence of custom roms based on stock KK for the LS980? Or based on other device but made for the LS980...?
Is something in particular holding devs back?
I would really like to try some of the G Pro II ports... or maybe an updated justins rom KK...
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
Don't quote me on this but I believe it has to do with kernel issues. I'm running stock rooted ZVC but savoca had to make a special file to be able to keep twrp and still load the rom
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
Its not kernel issues its more of getting a custom recovery on the phone after the kit kat update LG blocked an exploit used to install and use recoveries like TRWP. It gives you a verification issue when you try booting to recovery im pretty sure thats the main reason. Having said that there are ways to get around it but i believe you have to have ubuntu which half the people cant get and the process is so risky many users reported soft bricking and hard bricking their devices and at the moment rooting is about as far as you can go after kit kat our phones basically took on "samsung knox" in LGs form

There are also simpler ways to install twrp but then your kernel breaks and you have to flash something else which eventually breaks twrp so you are stuck at stage 1 all over again
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
OK just confirmed that you can get it to work and boot with twrp but it breaks download mode check this thread out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702007

I get all this. But whats the point right now to do all this if there still isnt an actual custom rom to flash...? Besides all this. Is something different that no developer has actually made or released a rom for us... i thought it would just have been a patch for th is phone and hats it. But it seems like theres more to it. Besides the whole recovery thing.

Then do it. Show us your mad dev skillz. Because obviously you know what needs to be done. You don't even need to completely customize the rom. Just port a different one like the ones your interested in.
Or do just part of the work to help the others out. Compile a new kernel so that we don't need to use stock. Release your hack to make it so we don't break download mode when we make it still possible to bypass loki. Get real creative and make the ZVC radio work on Jellybean!
And if you don't feel like doing the actual work to get it working, why don't you get involved in the threads where they are talking about issues, and help out the ones that ARE doing the work. Jump on IRC and give them a heads up on how you fixed it so they can put release it for everyone to use.
And your sig says your on an LG-D801, so nothing here would work for your phone anyway!
Yeah.. i tried once and got stuck at the part to download sources... but thats not hat i mean. Im asking this. Because devs said that once a kernel and sourco came out they would make a patch. Obviously something is different for us that this patch hasn't been possible for us... if it was as simple as they thought it would have been done already.
But i dont think the recovery problems are delaying this. Or are they? Maybe they are to prevent bricks? But ive seen plenty of devs release either way with obvious disclaimers only for advanced users.

You obviously missed my point. The point was, if it was possible with the current state of the phone, there would be at least THREE out by now (stock rooted, Optimus, and d3rp). Since you don't see those 3 released yet, that means that there are other issues. So if you can fix those issues, let the community know how to fix them. If you can't fix the issues, then be patient and realize that all threads like this do is annoy the people that are working hard trying to fix them. Because it comes off as being very ungrateful and demanding of people that are volunteering their time to make things better for everyone. If you can help, do it. If you can't help, be patient.
Update. I memtioned that im on justiins rom, well thats because i use my ls980 for tmobile. Well i decided to flash cloudyproii 1.2 after following the autoboot instuctions specified by the person who uploaded the zvc tot. And saw no harm so i backed up everything and wiped everything and flashed cloudy then flashed s avocas ls980 kernel then autoboot again. Then i had to wipe cache again and it boot up. And its running great. The only thing is i cant currently record at 120fps or 4k.... but this rom is great.

I was really wanting a custom rom, but with the xposed modules and Furnace kernel, i'm getting most of just about all the customization I'd get anyway.
The thing is that with the Sprint rom it is so much hassle to use with gsm. That's why I used Justin's first. And now this cloudyproii. Rom is great.

Using Justin's, and working in gsm mode. Probably made it so you can use the cloudy pro 2. Sprint users can't use it yet as it isn't altered to work with us.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
Justins had nothing to do with it. Its just that cloudyproii doesnt have cdma support so it defaulted to gsm.
I actually flashed the zvc tot to upgrade so i was using sprint, then flashed cloudyproii... i just had to flash an ls980 kernel and then autoboot.

so how is CloudyPro working for you after you flashed it. does it work well enough for a daily driver?

I'm so confused!!!
As the title says, for ALL the roms I install, they all crash (launcher, setting, google search crashes).
What the heck is wrong with it?
I tried Carbon Rom, PA, AOKP, C-Rom, and they all crash!
I factory resetted it multiple times but doesnt work..
The Android Version before was 4.3, but I'm installing 4.4.4 ROMs.
Do I have to update my phone to 4.4.4 for it to work properly?
Or the build version doesn't matter?
Could it be that I'm using an incompatible kernel?
What is wrong with my phone?
I even went to Settings - Apps- Launcher and force stopped & clear data.
How do I fix it??? Thanks!
Did the 4.3 ROM work? Have you tried the stock ROM?

I installed CM Remix rom, which is also 4.4.4 rom, but it works perfectly fine and has not crashed once. What do you think the problem is? For other roms, I downloaded the right Gapps, used stock kernel..
I noticed that everything crashes when I download multiple apps from the playstore..

Yeah I've traveled with a rooted phone, rooted with magisk. The only time I've ever had trouble with custom ROMs was with flashing updates, or with substratum. So just don't flash anything at all, and I would recommended disabling substratum. Other than that, root is pretty safe. DU is pretty rock solid too.
Thanks man that's good to know. DU is so smooth I was not looking forward to going back to stock .
