Ciao to everybody,
I am running a N5X that is around 1,5 years old with stock updated rom
Bootloader unblocked
No games, no special usage but only social and web surfing
The capacity of battery is very ... bad
Can you suggest me a bundled ROM+KERNEL especially addressed to reduce the drain battery ?
Many thanks for your support
Paolo

can you set temperature driver for the kernel ?
I recommend ABC with build-in kernel or Franco's, without any profile changes.
Thanks for your suggestions
I am downloading all the necessary files
I will try both ... and others if will come later

You are right
I completely agree with you
But I really appreciate the experience of users in order to address my effort to right direction
Interesting thread, though this is probably not the right place. Should be moved to general or q&a.
Just a personal preference but I run Lineage 15.1 with Franco Kernel 56 with light useage of social and web browsing. I also run pandora all day long connected blue tooth I get about 10 to 12 hours.

...and that's where you got it wrong. There are so many variables that change between users and hardware as well. No two units are the same or behave in the exact way with the same temperature, for example. Unit behavior can also change depending on the climate of the country the unit is in. Also let's not even talk about how mods, apps and overall configuration can impact both battery and performance. The right direction is through experimentation, like @rp158 said.

Validus+ElementalX is okay on battery with default settings, better than what I had before. But truth be told I haven't experimented with different configs, just spreading love for my reliable daily driver.

ABC rom is my first trial
I am using the bundled kernel
Later my feedback
I have been experimenting a lot, and for my usage (Messenger, browsing, music via Bluetooth and a few more apps like Reddit) the newest Resurrection Remix fitted with Shadow Kernel and Glasscannon governor profile. Had to experiment a lot with custom roms and kernels and governors, experimenting is the only way to find the right choice for you. Yet with all the experiments I am not very satisfied with this phone to be honest. Wish the best luck to you.

I agree
The drain battery I think is an important issue of this device
The battery is too small versus the hardware requirements and normal usage
I will see and ... thanks for your wishes ... I need them

Hello xda-developers.
My name's Mirko and I from Italy. It's my first time that I post in this beautiful forum of all kind of developers
I have Galaxy Nexus (GSM. Italian version) with Android 4.1.1 stock. My small questions are:
- I suffer from short battery life, it's better change kernel or ROM?
- If it's better change kernel, what you can recommend to me and why?
- If it's better change ROM, what you can recommend to me and why?
At the moment only these are my questions.
Thanks for all answer.. It's my first time that I unlock bootloader and root my device (I have to do it), and I'm a full newbie of modding
Thanks thanks and thanks, this forum is the best.. Keep on the fantastic work and congratulation to all modder, staff and all!
P.s. sorry for my bad english
Best Regards.
- Mirko Pizii
Before you do any of the stated you need to find out weather your phone is gsm or cdma because you CANNOT put a CDMA on a GSM phone or the other way around.
Kernels affect battery life. I recommend Franco kernel or Lean kernel
Roms affect user interface (the OS operating System on the phone) - I recommend for a starting stable rom Cyanogen (its what MOST roms are based off of) then if you want to tweak your phone more I recommend CodeNamedDroid or ParanoidAndroid. (these are the three that I use the most)
also i would recommend this thread about battery life http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599025
i hope my english has not confused you. Dont be surprised if noone else responds to you in this page, they have a bad habit of doing this.

Thanks for roms..
What do you think? It's ok only kernel or it's better change rom?
Thanks for battery life thread, I'll follow
No no, your english won't confuse me.. I can understand but I have problem with speak to other

Thanks for you answer, friend

Franco's has horrible battery life...
paranoidandroid with trinity is the best imo
Yes, custom kernels can improve battery life if you're willing to trade in a little performance. Can't have both at the same time.

Hello Guys!
Like title i am asking you which rom for Oneplus 3 is better (Nougat 7.1.1)? I would like to find a rom without call echo but with good battery and performance.
Thanks for all answers and peace
AOSIP/AOSCP have really good battery but have really bad camera
You also can read the AKT topic. Then there are several kernel tweaks for battery performance. With a lot of using YouTube, surfing on internet, and some game apps (most likely chess and checkers) I get a screen on time for about 7hours. And then still got 5 to 20% over before I charge it again.

Vertex OS + Render kernal T19 (look in his thread). Mainly because I runs EAS (Energy aware scheduling). It is smooth as butter while maintaining max efficiency.
If you are looking for customization plus battery go with any resurrection remix rom and then install akt app and use profile fairpark... You will get around 8hr sot... Telling from experience
What's the main differences between 7.0 and 7.1?
I'm using AICP and its great! 5h SoT with some games and a lot of Telegram, Whatsapp, Twitter.... and still having 13%
5h SoT on 14h switched on

You can see this in this link.
https://www.google.si/amp/www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/google-android-nougat-7-1/amp/?client=ms-unknown
prefer OOS w/ mods over Lineage/RR due to camera performance/quality
There is nothing as the best/ better ROMs. They are more like user preference and opinion, one may agree with them some other won't. So the best way is to try all of these ROMs yourself, test it according to your needs. Who knows you may like the one which no one mentioned? I think you could use the time you have spent to create a thread and test them yourself.

I like Vertex OS + Render EAS kernal! Most efficient combination that is possible so far due to EAS! It's smooth as butter aswell!

If you really want to run a stock ROM you could always invest some time into patching up the whyred device and vendor trees.
The two devices are mostly identical and essentially just need a blob swap.

Works fine for me. Whatever the issue is, it must be something you did wrong, or something the seller messed up with your device before shipping it to you.

Can you explain what wasn't good? Did you try resurrected kernel with it? That eliminated lag.
No custom rom yet probably because pocophone just came out. Development has already started for that first than mm3 even though it's released later and I don't think many people like big phones the same as us

If you go to the thread - use my settings for best battery or tweak the max frequencies to your liking for performance. You can also choose between Performance, Balanced, and Battery for governor tuner in L Speed cpu tuner section.
Well biggest difference, 117-119K antutu to 130-132K - big enough reason. Aside from no lag and better battery. Plus, more tweaks are coming with better governors.

i have got 13h of sot on eu
@opasha stop lying. Battery is worse, up to 10h sot and your settings do not work. Ondemand governon works so bad with this Kernel. Interactive + noop + OC gives up to 10h sot. Stock Kernel 13h-15h.
But performance is visibly better.

Go take a chill pill and come back after you've collected yourself. No need to call me a liar for no reason. I never said to use ondemand with noop on the latest kernel. Go check the resurrected kernel thread. My recent settings are there. What works well for me and others on 8.8.9 eu rom may not be the same for you since you're not even on the same rom. The newer eu roms have more battery drain - it's noted even in their forums from members. Everyone's SOT is also different. You stated the most useless information. Grow up, man. If you've got nothing productive to say, move along.

Try sgspluss' basickernel. You will get more sot and more standby time. Moreover, You don't need to tweak anything just flash and forget. Also I recommend you to use LineageOS 15.1 from the same guy to ensure the more battery life. Flash his LineageOS 15.1 along with his kernel. :highfive:

Hello, I'm looking around for a successor for my Moto G5, and since I always keep my phone in my pocket the size the phone is important to me. I really like the specs of the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, but I am a bit worried about all the talk about the battery drain issues. However, I also sometimes see remarks that it is solved in some ROMs. Is that correct? I clicked around in the ROM-section, but I don't see a lot of remarks in those threads about this themselves...
And while we are at it: are there ROMs that are fit for daily use that I could flash? I use the phone for both my private number and my business number, so stability really is important to me.
@Kroesss: I recommend Bliss. Minimal drain, stable, AOSP.

Could you give an idea about battery life with this ROM? And is there a tutorial for flashing this (preferrably all the way from the stock-software/bootloader etc)?
@Kroesss: type #notes or /notes in the thread.
I get normally 10-12h SOT. MicroG instead of GApps, mostly WLan.
