Hi
I've searched around and I'm under the impression that v30n is NOT rootable and so I need to downgrade (I think to v30b) root it and go back to v30n, however, I am not sure which version to download. What should I be looking for specifically as there seems to be a few different versions?
I am using LG G3 D855. From United Kingdom and my network is Vodafone (however it's unlocked). I have two specific questions, 1) what kind of version should I be downloading (does it have to be Vodafone for example), and while I am asking a question 2) am I correct with plan of downgrading to get the root done or is there a better way?

Has anyone here used it?
I was wondering what firmware etc it was on as i get one this Saturday. I'm also assuming we arent lucky like the t-mobile version and have an unlocked bootlater as default? I Have always been addicted to flashing roms haha, been doing it since the HTC Dream (I.e the G1) days with jesusfreke root.
Having come from a Nexus 4 where it is easy to return to root/relock the bootlader if you need to send in for a warranty, What is it like for the G3? If i put TWRP on there and something hardware wise goes wrong, is it easy to relock etc? I have read about the LGFlashtool but notice a lack of availability of the Optus Firmware to use as a backup
Cheers
Problems changing Rom
Hi guys I seem to be hitting a problem. I have a d855 uk version of he g3 branded to Vodafone uk.
No matter which rom I install it will always stay the same branded version. For example if i flash euro 10A it will become a Vodafone version of 10A not the generic euro version. I have tried uK specific kdz and euro ones, even tot files the same thing happens it will downgrade to the version of my carrier specific rom.
I don't know what else to do it flashes ok just never makes it stock with no carrier branding. Any ideas. Thanks guys.
This doesnt go here as a start but have you tried flashing a stock rom like androidnow ......
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app

it will always stay branded, as soon as you go online your imei is checked and because it is marked as vodafone, the vodafone apps will start downloading automatically. just delete /data/.op everytime also this is clearly an question so post it next time in the q&a section
Ok thanks will do. One question though when flashing from a kdz it does not go online so how does it know to download.

If your flashing KDZ then your flashing a stock rom, All stock roms are carrier specific and have the bloat.
Here are your options:
1. Manually remove bloat.
2. Use a script to remove bloat.
3. Use a custom rom that's already debloated.
thats the thing though i flash a carrier specific rom and it just gets changed to my carriers rom
I have a G3 that I tried the 1 click root method on. It said it was successful but on reboot it is stuck at the LG logo.
I am trying to follow a guide to flash the stock firmware. (androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants)
Can someone please tell me whether the guide is still good and whether the link it directs to (androidrootz.com/p/lg-g3-stock-fiwares) is where I want to get the firmware from? It seems to be over a year old at this point.
Also I am a bit confused about which firmware I want, I thought my version was the D855 International version, does that mean I can use either the D855 EUR or HK firmwares?
Sorry if some of these questions are obvious, got the device yesterday and it is my first Android phone! Also sorry the links are clickable, I don't have 10 pots yet.
Got it back to 4.4.2 using the aforementioned pages. Flashed the European firmware after reading some stuff elsewhere.
OK I have a UK Vodaphone G3 (LG-D855) still with their bootloader but it is rooted using the purple drake method which i did about 9 months ago, I think now is the right time to update the OS, so should i go via the OTA route and go to Lollipop or wait and go the Marshmallow or given i have rooted do i have to use another method to upgrade the OS.
Looking at my "Update Centre" it says the following "New OS Version: V20f-DEC-22-2014 (522.49MB)"
I am happy working with PC's but know very little about phones so please be gentle with me.
If you need any more info from me just ask.

Do not upgrade via ota when rooted this is a big no no can cause big problems.. If you want a new update just flash a kdz (stock rom) with flashtool. There are plenty of guides on here on how to do that.
v20f is a very old update the newest is 21a..I would probably wait for Marshmallow according to rumors it should be with us about middle of December .:good:
Edit here are a couple of links for you flashtool and guide >>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 << Kdz stock roms >> http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41 <<
Also when you are rooted you can't take ota
OK many thanks for the info tallman43 and also thx for the links, looking at the link with the rom's i'm unsure if i should go for number 520 as it say V10l or 530 as mine is Vodaphone 16GB, or does it not even matter?
Also one very newbie question if i may these "roms" are in PC talk just images of a pc when it comes out the factory, all have windows 7 for example but some will have different apps preinstalled depending if it was Dell or HP etc, just trying to get my head round it "my way" if you get my drift.

V10 kdz are kitkat roms V20 kdz are lollipop roms obviously if you want the latest firmware then V20 is the one to go for. Also if you look through all the firmware's not just uk you will find 21a kdz this is the very latest one. Also you don't have to specifically use the uk ones technically you can flash any I am from the Uk and have used 21a without any problems.
Only thing I would say is if you flash one from another country try for ones that are closer to uk ie: Don't flash lets say a HongKong firmware but places like Poland,Spain,France etc are ok but like I said you could technically flash any.
Also in answer to your last question about pre installed apps yes some of them may have odd one or two different apps installed in them by the carrier.
One last thing if and when you use flashtool make sure you do not unplug your phone until it as fully flashed and rebooted flashtool sometimes comes up with a banner saying something like can't connect or failed. Look at the progress bar on your phone this is the best way to see if it is flashing ok.
OK mant thanks tallman43 you've been a real star with all this info.

Another thing - custom ROMs are faster than stock work various improvements, so flashing a custom is highly recommended.

Hello
My LG G4 just came back from the technician and now it's H818P V20a-BRA-XXX (before this it was something like 10c or 10d... I don't remember?)
I want to downgrade it because I miss my beloved root :'(
But, while searching for this, I found someone saying that this could brick the phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/psa-warning-try-to-downgrade-g4-t3197675)
So... In my case, what should I do?
How should I downgrade? (I never did this... So I'm kind of lost) What method should I use? Where can I find the stock rom? What´s the best version to downgrade my phone?
Oh, and the phone is from Brazil
Edit: Using *#*#244773825625#*#* says HW Version Rev 1.0 and Anti-rollback Version 0
