Help, I had a quick look about and couldn't find a similar thread, apologies if the is one tho as there is a lot to look through here and may have missed it.
Story is, I brought my desire z about a month ago not sure what software version it had but I preceded to flash it with a downgraded version ( 1.34.405.5 ) with a .executive RUU utility on my Windows 7 pc. Just to get used to things, I have flashed many phones before no problem.
Now tho I found what I believe to be the latest official ROM from here:
But everytime I run the thing I get error 132 signature update problem or something.
I have tried it while the phone is temp rooted, permanently rooted all the Ian drivers are fine I tried different versions of Windows. I just want to get back to the latest version and be able to update over the air from now on, thanks for reading.
What RUU are you trying to flash ? If it is the new Egypt version, please don't do it, and see the thread in the dev section for reasons why.
My DZ came with 1.34.405.5 and I have successfully flashed the RUU of this version from this forum, no problems.
It would be useful to find out what the current version is on your phone. It will tell you in Menu->Settings->About Phone.
Also it would be useful to check which HBOOT version to have, and whether you are S-OFF. Put the phone into hboot by having it powered off, then hold Volume Down and hold Power till it comes up with a white screen with skateboarding Androids.
It is possible to downgrade a ROM if you go through the procedure in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503
Helo thanks for reply.
Im pretty sure the version i had on the phone phone was newer than the one i flashed on as i just wanted to have a trial run with a rom that definatly worked fine before trying custom ones ect.
Currently it is S-On HBOOT version is 0:85:0009 and software version is 1.34.405.5 (the one i flashed over the stock)
I cant link to the RUU i am trying to use but it says it is a WWE world/europe one and i also tryed 3 others just incase, all give the same error.
Version is 2.29.405.2 that im trying to get on my phone as i think thats the latest official one??
Your phone sounds like it is stock so far, so it'll probably only let you flash a ROM designed for your very specific model of phone. So if the phone was from a particular country, it will probably only let you flash a ROM from that country, not just any old WWE ROM.
So is 1.34.405.5 on there properly now, up and running ? If so then you could always root it and run gfree to get SuperCID etc, which will then let you flash whichever official ROMs you want (but be careful if it's a very new ROM that might not yet be rootable etc).
I'm not familiar with any ROMs starting with version number 2 though ?
A quick google for 2.29.405.2 brings up Desire & Desire HD links.
BE CAREFUL DUDE!!!!
Yeah phone is running fine, slightly less reliable than it was before i flashed tho but im putting that down to it being a slightly older version than the one that was on here before maby.
Im up for just sticking an official desire z ROM back on here and leaving it alone for now. If you could point me in the direction of a suitable ROM download that would be great, or is there someplace i can go and put my specific phones model in and get the factory shipped ROM back cus that would be even better.
That 2.29.405.2 update is for the standard desire and desire HD? Damn that could have turned out bad had it flashed to my phone.
These smart phones seem a bit more tricky to flash than the older phones im used to doing, is there a decent step by step guide you can link me to for help with flashing as i have come accross 3 different ways already.
If your phone doesn't have S-OFF etc, then you're only going to be able to flash very specific ROMs to your phone. Since we don't really know what original ROM your phone came with, I recommend that you root your phone (using the "rage" method) and get full S-OFF via "gfree". Guides to these two are below, along with a link to a guide to get adb working on your PC :
adb - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
rage - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228
gfree - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
Also check out this handy guide, which has a lot of useful info - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835777
You will come across a method of rooting called "Visionary". This is in theory an almost one-click method of rooting. However, I personally wouldn't recommend it, because whilst it works faultlessly for some, it goes wrong for others, and when it goes wrong it quite often goes very badly wrong indeed.
If you don't understand some of the stuff in those guides, then please post up in that thread on it, and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out. Best to ask questions first rather than try some stuff out and realise you don't know what you're doing.
Right here goes my noob question at the minute I'm running desire hd fully rooted s-off unlocked on leedroid 1.4.1..
now the problem girlfriend running the HTC desire branded t-mobile with ota update to 2.2 I've read through forum thread after thread yet still struggling to find the answer I need as it talks about slcd screens amoled screens bricking phone if you get wrong one
And unrevoked won't work with the ota update if its been done plus using gold card ???
I really don't want to brick her phone she would kill me lol
So can anyone give me a step by step guide on how I can it unbranded rooted and be able to flash a new Rom would be great
and as say step by step guide as in someone who never used Android before guide
E=Mc2
Ok as i can see that you are already familiar with rooting etc with your dhd i wont go into too much detail as i believe you can handle it!
1. Since the phone is branded you will need to create a goldcard first if you wish to return to stock later for warranty issues. Also check the current rom on the phone and look for the corresponding one on shipped-roms and download it if they have it.
2. Unrevoked 3.2.1 (or up, im not sure what the latest version is) can root slcd or amoled and the 2.2 ota so there is no problem there.
It would be wise to check the pvt model of the phone first as a pvt-4 device requires a little more effort: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853583
3. Once rooted download rom manager if you wish (personally i dont like it)
4. Enter hboot (volume down + power) and back up your current rom
5. Then download the custom rom you or your gf would like to use and enjoy!
If you decide to flash a radio later just make sure that you dont interupt the process as this is one of the few ways in which you can actually brick a device.
Good luck
Point 2. Does it matter which screen it is will it just work if not how can I tell as there is to many theorys and the pvt-4 how do I check that
Had the phone since February if this helps
E=Mc2
With the unrevoked root method it doesn't matter.
Only time you could run into issues is if you flash a rom onto the phone thats meant for an amoled desire ... then you will be faced by a black screen (which isnt a brick, there have been cases where this has happened and the way to remedy this issue is here in the forums somewhere!) I have an slcd desire and flash a custom rom every second day and have never had issues, just allways make sure you read all information before you perform any flash, the information you need will allways be there!
To check, if you still have the box of the phone it will say on there what display it has, otherwise if you look at the screen itself it is usually easy enough to spot an amoled screen as the colours are alot more saturated ... just put it next to your dhd you should be able to see ... but also google there are more 'fool' proof ways to check. But having the origional box is the safest bet.
If you have had the phone since Feb (2010 i suppose ) i highly doubt whether your phone will be pvt-4. Its probably pvt-1,2,3 which will give you no problems. To check this enter hboot (power off the phone and the power it on holding the volume down key)
Cheers for the info mate will give it a try when she let's me have the phone lol

Hi, and thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
I have a desire hd phone, witch I love anyways I had it rooted a few months ago by a local phone shop, but I didn’t really see the benefit from it, in fact it caused problems so I performed a full factory reset within a few days, and thought that was the end of it.
Anyways my phone received the option to update to the 2.3 gingerbread on Monday, it downloads fine, and then when the install starts it freezes at about 20% of the way thorough.
I have contacted HTC several times about it, they say the phone will not update if it’s been rooted and I have to send it back to them to have it re-flashed, one person said it would cost £30, another said £200 so I would rather not send it to them. the last guy I spoke to was very helpful, he said it was possible for me to reflash the phone to its original ''shipped'' state, and if I joined a help forum I could possibly get some help, but he was unable to advise me on this., so here I am!!!
I received the phone new in January and it has had no updates until the one on Moday, and it was rooted using visionary a few months ago, I have performed several factory restores since then.
Current software is:
android version 2.2
baseband version 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_m
build number 1.37.771.3 CL290190
software number 1.37.771.3
im in the uk, and on the 3 network
Many thanks,
Jamie

Hey dude, this link should help. I'm currently downloading it so that I can help you further when you get it also.
I would think twice about reverting everything back to stock though. You are now in the right place, the shop you went to, to get your phone rooted was the wrong place! We are a friendly bunch for the most part so do some reading in the desire HD general section and you'll find some nice ROMs that are close to stock firmware but perform better. If they're not for you then feel free to flash the official ROM from your provider that I have linked to above.
Oh yeah, Welcome to XDA!
Thanks for that, How do i go about installing it, and will it completely revert the phone back to its original state so i can use the ota update and get the 2.3 gingerbread?
And thanks again for your help
Damnit, what I've linked to is actually someones backup of a stock 3 ROM so it won't be quite back to factory fresh. Let me do some digging, I'll be back.
EDIT: What exactly did the shop do, other than use visionary? You could try AMT tools from here and query the device info, that should at least let us know what they have and haven't done to the phone. I suspect that they have set a super CID hence why the update won't go through. Try AMT and report back.
Thankyou very much your help is appreciated.
Should i try the link you posted earlier??
Just use AMT tools that I linked to above in one of my edits and check the CID, If it is just the CID that has been altered, then you can use this tool to reflash a 3UK CID which is H3G__001
when i use AMT it says AMT is designed for use with Desire HD and Dsire z / G2 ONLY But i have a desire HD ????
Strange, is there an option to click OK or ignore?
EDIT: Weird, I just booted into windows and I get the same thing with AMT tools. Now I'm really confused. Try using the other tool that I linked to and see what that displays.
EDIT 2: Just had a thought. Pull your battery then put it back in. Hold 'down' on the volume rocker then press the power button. Your phone should start in the bootloader and we should be able to get some more info. Once you've done this, list everything that it says in the bootloader screen.
Sorry, my brain is a bit slow today for some reason.
Ok ill do that now, i have also just rooted my phone again using visionary (i followed the link in your earlier message. so its rooted again now. cant believe i paid £20-00 to have that done, it took me less than 5 minutes to do it

OK, so it would seem as though all they did was root it and leave most things intact, I think they must have changed your CID though probably using the jkoljo's radio S-OFF tool.
Run that tool and try to change your CID to whatever it was that I said before H3G__001 I think it was, or you could equally use that tool to get radio s-off super-CID and sim-unlock, then install ROM manager from the market, flash Clockwork Mod Recovery and then flash a custom ROM after making a backup of course.
The world is your lobster at this point and flashing new ROMs can be fun. I might have to re-flash my current ROM myself as I think I've screwed something up with it from messing around too much earlier today
i dont understand the open "Desire HD easy radio tool.exe'' where is that??
Please remember i am a complete noob when it comes to this, lol
i had to download the visionary app using my phone as my laptop kept saying it had a virus.
i have downloaded the premium rom manager app, can you recomend and good roms, or where i can get a list of them? also could you explain in noob terms how to change my phone so i can get the 2.3 update? the cid bit!!!

I'm gonna point you to this thread as it has everything you could possibly want or need to know in it. There is a link there to a thread all about how to flash a ROM, what tools you need on your PC etc..
With regards to how to get 2.3 onto your phone pretty much every ROM you'll find in the DEV section is based on 2.3. That thread I've linked also has links to pretty much every ROM currently available for the DHD and everything is explained far better than I would be able to explain things.
The tool to get Super-CID, which really only helps when it comes to flashing Radio's (which is something I would avoid until you've found your feet a little, however it's worth doing now, as it is simple and relatively worry free) is at the bottom of this post.
Happy reading and just remember that as long as you read all the instructions for something before starting it and you feel comfortable with what the instructions are explaining, then you will succeed with your end goal.

I have downloaded this, but i have no idea how to use it! i extracted the files to my desktop, it has a few different applications in there, one says start here but when i open it a command prompt comes up on my pc screen, i dont know where to go from there

You should extract them into one folder, then from there you should be able to double click the only thing that looks like a program icon. If nothing is happening it would suggest that you need to update your .NET framework. Do that by running windows update or going here.
Honestly....... the best thing to do would be to go here and read the basic setup bit so that your PC is ready for everything, and then read the rest of that little guide and it should hold your hand through the whole process.
im going to attempt a custom rom form the link you gave me (everything desire hd) do you have any recomendations??
Cyanogenmod is interesting as it more like stock Android, MIUI is similar to iOS and then you have the sense ROMs with tweaks and whatnot. Have a look at the options available in the screenshots and see what you like the look of, it's a very subjective thing as some like one thing and others like something else.
the link you gave me for the rado code was missing the important bit!
i managed to find it somewhere else

have a look at the link you gave me, it is missing the main programme.
do you have to go through the root procedure every time you use the radio tool, or will it work every time after the phone is rooted. the reason i ask is that i just tried to do it and it said ''operation failed, probably connection'' ill try it again now

It usually fails the first time, I don't know why. After a reboot it worked for me, keep your phone screen on though as the package will request superuser permission.
That link is definitely not missing anything as I've downloaded and run it from that link several times, but maybe your download got corrupted.
Glad all seems well now anyway.
I unlocked my wife's (carrier-free) WFS via HTCDev, then rooted it shortly after just fine. After rooting it I did the Link2SD procedure to releave the internal space problem and that went well too.
Some time later an OTA update notification appeared that is 14MB in size. I downloaded & tried to install it, but the phone just reboots to begin the update, then stays on a screen that has the Android robot & an "!" inside a triangle. It never does anything from there, just stays frozen on that screen.
Please can someone help me by showing me the cause & solution, or a way to install the latest WFS OTA manually. Thanks in advance.

Pull the battery and reboot, you will then be able to continue to use the phone as normal.
As for OTA update; it doesn't work on phones with modified recovery e.g. CWM, try searching this forum, all the answers to your question already exist.

Yeah, I did pull the battery before and let her use the phone as usual while I searched for answers, which was some weeks ago. Guess I didn't look hard enough.
Thanks, let me try search some more...

ok...like this...since you are rooted and have custom recovery installed you are not able to complete OTA update.
Here is what you need to do-you need to go back to stock recovery..then update and install OTA.
NOTE: after that your phone BL will be locked again and you will lose root.
NEXT STEP: After updating you will need to repeat the procedure of unlocking with HTC.dev and of course root again if you want that.
more info you can find in the thread in link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474067
Hope i helped a litlle bit
dont forget thanks button if i did
How a positive conclusion was achieved
Well, after Aef 101's suggestion, I ended up downloading the new RUU 2.13.401.3 from Shipped-ROMs.com, which of course refused to install saying the phone already got 2.17.0000 installed (a version number produced by RUU 2.13.401.2 + HBoot 1.08.0099), so I reduced the version number to the SuperVersion (0.0.0.0) and relocked the the BootLoader with the first tool suggested here.
That allowed me to successfully install the new RUU, but I got the problem spoken of here, of the locked/unlocked field disappearing from the top of the BootLoader because the RUU downgraded the BootLoader to the outdated 1.08.0000. So, I downloaded the new HTC EU HBoot 1.09.0099 from HTCDev, which I linked here and installed it.
After I did that, the BootLoader said it's locked again (the field that had completely disappered after the 2.13.401.3 RUU update, was back to normal), so I just reused the same "Unlock_code.bin" file I got from HTCDev the first time I unlocked, to re-unlock the BootLoader.
Once that was done, it was a quick root with SuperOneClick 2.3.3 and the job was done. I won't be putting any custom ROM(s), so I didn't bother re-adding CWM, in case it gives me hassles on my next update attempt if there is one.
Thank you gentlemen for your responses and I hope my breakdown of how I got it to work in the end helps others that may suffer this dilemma.
Basically, my second hand, unlocked HTC Desire HD that I bought from CeX (I live in the UK) was rooted when I got it. It had AndroidRevolution 6.3.3 or something and 4EXT Recovery installed. Soon, I'm going to take it back to CeX for a refund because it's stopped connecting to my PC via USB. However, if they don't take it I want to be sure I can install a stock ROM, effectively reverting my phone to its factory state. No root, no unlocked bootloader, but most importantly, no custom ROM. Bare in mind, I have no idea how the phone was rooted or anything like that. This is a problem for me because I actually bought the HTC to replace a broken Xperia Play that had 14 months left on a T-Mobile contract, and when it broke because of ClockworkRecoveryMod Sony wouldn't replace it, so to find that my replacement is already rooted is essentially a disaster. I've heard of RUU etc. but I need a guide specific for me because I don't want to take ANY chances because if I brick this phone it's back to a Nokia 6030 for me until I get a new contract. Remember, I cannot use HTC Sync or anything because my phone is not recognised by my PC, and I have tried multiple cables and PCs. So basically, I need to put stock android on my phone so it will receive updates etc. and work as if it had never been rooted.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

As the phone was already rooted and running a revolution custom rom there is no need to return it to stock, I suggest you flash a new rom first. Try Lord Clockans rom IceColdSandwich 8.4. Make sure you do a full wipe.
