HTC 10 blue/white wires - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know what the small blue and white wires that go from the charging port board to the main board are? did a battery replacement and the small connectors they clip onto have come off the main board. Phone appears to be working without them which is a bit worrying lol.

[Q] Micro USB part (desoldering)

The micro-USB connector on my HTC Desire is damaged. Charging is not a problem. However, trying to connect it to a computer causes shows flaky behavior. I took it into the vendor who are estimating a charge of $140 to fix it.
I can solder/desolder the connector quite easily as I have SMT facilities at work.
I would like to source the connector first however.
Anyone know the part number or where I can source one from?

Has anyone seen the unsoldered PCB footprint for the device?
Is the connector a bottom or midmount?

But maybe there's just a cold solder joint and you don't have to replace the whole connector.
Thanks. Those pictures are neat. I took some of my own after opening up the back casing.
The damage is inside the connector (the cable wont stay connected). So not a dry solder joint problem.
I guess I could try and buy a few different connectors and try to see which fits.

Wireless charging hack for HTC Desire

Hi all.
Im hoping someone can help me out.
In the process of building the wireless charging hack for the htc desire and the prototype works fine.
However at the moment i have connected the induction coil circuit to a micro usb plug which then plugs into the desire. This is an ugly solution!
I would rather solder the induction coil circuit straight to the circuit board but am having trouble identifying where to connect to.
Has anyone looked into this and able to show me a +5v solder point on the board near the micro usb socket?

Sat down with my multimeter and the desire in several pieces! Lol.
Finally found the contact points on the main board for the micro usb power.
Have now attached the induction coil to the phone main board and slipped the back cover back on.
Now I have a a desire with wireless charging using the palm touchstone but still retaining the ability to charge via the micro usb if needed!
I love the desire so much! is there nothing you cant do?

Good idea!
I spent ages trying to build a slim line micro-usb plug that could easily plug in and out if I needed to charge away from a touchstone but it was not very pretty and in my frustration I took apart the phone trying to find a points on the board instead! Initially I was planning on soldering to the micro usb +5v pin but that was way to hard so instead I searched for a contact on the pcb and eventually found one.
From the outside, the phone doesn't look any different from any other desire which I prefer.
Here are some pics. I can't take pics of the internals as I've put it all back together now and don't fancy the risk of breaking the tiny wires!

hi , i was thinking of doing this , when i got my phone apart i noticed two holes in the plastic that covers the microusb with two gold contact underneath, are these ground and 5+ i would check but my multi meter is bust

Did the copper coil together with the PCB (there is a PCB needed, I guess) easily fit into the HTC Desire casing? I tried to fit 5 sheets of paper there but couldn't close the case afterwards.
Do you have any more details? Will the Desire hold on the Touchstone or did you add magnets somewhere?

Regarding the contacts, I used the 0v of the microusb socket.
The part of the pcb i soldered the +v to is not shown in those pics but if you look at pic 7, there is a square contact on the hidden side of the pcb connected to the microusb socket at the bottom of the phone. That is what i used.
I found that the case fits on fine and the phone is held on ok to the touchstone without any additional magnets but maybe that could be strengthened by thinning down the backcase a little.
i hope that makes sense. very hard to describe without pictures! i wish i had taken some when i did the mod!
I asked because I was afraid that I would need a "bigger" back cover as used by some extended batteries for the Desire. So you just extracted the coil from the Pal Pre backcover together with the board and put it on top of the regular Desire battery?

If you are talking about the ones to the left of the battery (the only ones i could find) thats +2.6V
Does it work through a case? Such as otterbox commuter?

I'll find out tonight, i'm going to destroy a powermatt cube and give this mod a shot.
Ok, so now I got my hands on a backplate and a touchstone and already disassembled the stuff.
The point is that I still need to know where to solder the 5V. How can I measure the various golden points? I have a multimeter, but where do I probe the black (mass) pin and where the red one (sample)???
I'm a little confused.

PCB Connector Replacement

A few month's ago I'd ordered a LCD screen replacement for my incredible, and so when I got back from work o immediately took out the LCD from the package and started taking out my old broken. For me it was my first time experience replacing an LCD phone screen, anyways back to what I was going to say was when I unplugged the connector for the screen and the motherboard itself, after attempt to plug the connectors back together; the display connector plugged in perfect while the connector for the motherboard didn't do so well. The white piece that covers the PCB Connector, it tears a little bit off and I'd tried to power on the phone, meanwhile it didn't I tried again and things got worst. So I search online for a PCB Connector and see one, so I decided to and try to rip off the PCB Connector and plan to order the PCB Connector. So the part to attempt ripping off the PCB Connector didn't go so well, and stop there before things got worst. Any suggestions how I can replace that? I can't just leave my phone in my room and have to cover in dust. I need my phone back, how can I fix these? I know this thread seems long but I tries but it details for you guys.

At first my Fire wouldn't charge unless it was placed in a particular way, then it stopped altogether. I pronounced it dead, and left it stowed away for a few months, but then decided to try and fix it. I think this guide may be useful for anyone who wants to fix a kindle with dead charging. Note that you may damage your kindle in the process so if you are still under warranty, use it.
1. Take off the back cover. You may need to use a guitar pick or something similar.
2. Take off the two battery leads. One has a locking mechanism which needs to be lifted before the ribbon cable can be taken out.
3. Take out all screws connected motherboard to rest of device. There are connections underneath the board so be careful when lifting it.
4. When I lifted it, I found the USB connector had broken off the entire board (if it was even attached in the first place) and this was obviously causing the problems, as the USB connector could now only connect to the motherboard if pressure was applied so that it was being held on somehow by it. To fix this, I could have tried to solder the tiny USB connections onto the board, but instead I used a different way which is working perfectly for many weeks now.
5. Get a rubber band and tie a not in it numerous times until the knot is about 3-4mm thick. Cut off remaining rubber band and superglue the knot onto the bottom side of the USB connector (the side that faces the display when assembled). Then insert the USB connector into it's little holder under the board, with the rubber band firm beneath it and replace the motherboard. Redo all the screws, reconnect any connectors you've disconnected (you may have had to disconnect some to remove/move the motherboard - always undo battery cables before you work on the innards of any device).
6. If you've done this correctly, the round rubber band knot should press the USB connector continuously on to the board. Test using your stock charger before you put it back together because the back cover is pretty hard to get off.
7. Replace the back cover and enjoy!
Notes: My rubber band knot was actually a little too large, which meant that to connect the USB plug I had to press the kindle together to insert the cable, but charging is reliable and working so far, so I'm happy about that.

Anyone have a schematic or antenna connector pin outs?

Hey guys, I’m on my second screen replacement, this time replacing the battery as well. While disassembling, one of the antenna cable connectors broke off of the main board. It is the longer of the two from the top board. I need to know what this cable is for, and if one of these other extra unused connectors on the main board can be used instead. It would be EXTREMELY nice to have a schematic/diagram. Thanks In advance.
