Need a music app - Connected Car

Hello
Looking for the perfect car app for android based head unit..
I have searched and searched, even tried and tested a good dozen now and the best I have found that suits me is Pi Player buuuut its not perfect because when you browse through folders, it only gives you half the screen, horizonatally at least though, unlike the stock music player which gives you 1/4 of the screen vertically which is awful.
Some apps I have tried take far too long load up, some even have to import all the music from my USB stick every single time I launch the app (Switch the car on, which is terrible)
So what I want:
A Android Music app for my car so needs to run in landscape mode, that has good support of playing from USB storage and has a browse folder feature.. which must have a *good interface for making browsing through all the folders and then individual songs nice and easy*.
Ideally will have some extra features such as auto play on power on, widgets etc.....
Thats the main thing, just want it to obviously load my music instantly like Pi Player does but give me the whole of screen to browse through my folders making it nice and easy within a nice interface
Any recommendations please fire them away

you tried Viper4android ?

SoundCloud and Shazam.

Poweramp

you can use Xtunes music app. It is good for music downloading as well. Refer this forum page for more details.

I think Xtunes have there official page also i think you can try that also here is the link to them. Xtunes.

I also use Xtunes and IMHO is the best app! :fingers-crossed: In this Website i found a lot of information!

On my phone I enjoy Music Player. It's icon is a black circle with a red ring and a play icon in the center. I guess you can use multiple players and go through each one to determine what works best for you, which has the best appearance, customization options, ease of use, etc.

Music app
Hi, try Pulsar, I’ve been using it on my phone for a while in favour of the stock app which has a crap GUI. This app is basic (what you want on a head unit) free and no adds. It will auto play when connected to BT but you can disable this feature. Change tab items (Albums, Folders etc.) and reorder them. Has big button interface ideal for a head unit.

Stream (background) music?

Hey
I was wondering if it possible to stream music from sites like last.fm and thesixtyone.com?
Do i have to change some setting? Donwload an app?
Maybe with flash 10.1?
there is a last fm app on the marketplace
But it would be nice to play it from the last.fm site.
ALso with thesixtyone.com. But thanks for the tip. Streaming music with the app right now!

It doesn't work because of the way Linux works. When you launch another app and "minimize" the browser, it puts it in sleep mode. If it wouldn't (and you could keep streaming), it'd drain your battery insanely fast.
first post here
Still one could throw it on the charger/desktop dock. All I want to do is blank the screen. My perfect scenario would be to have the option to stream music in the desktop charger with a blank screen or the clock... to keep away the burn in blues.
Edit: And I would say this was a limitation to linux as I type this from a system running a popular distro that blows anything m$ has away it is more likely a limitation of software possibly to protect us from a hardware limitation. I thought multitasking meant running more than one app at a time?
I installed a 2.2 ROM and checked thesixtyone again and it worked this time. So i guess with flash 10.1 it will work. Didn't check last.fm.
But i'm unable to install the flash 10.1 for 2.1 so i guess i have to wait. Don't want to run the 2.2ROMS as i don't like the UI.
you should search for TuneWiki,
its freaking awesome, it plays your music on your SD card, Searches lyrics with your music, scrobbles your songs on last.FM and if you want it can search the videoclip through youtube aswell
I second Tunewiki, I personally prefer XiiaLive though.
I stream 256kbps mp3 from digitallyimported.com in the background through it. Both have nice UI's but I prefer the Xiia UI personally.
XiiaLive is formerly known as DroidLive btw...
Thanks for the help. Tried both the last.fm player and tunewiki. Allthough it's not really what i'm looking for these are nice apps.
If you look at http://www.thesixtyone.com/ there starts music playing. It's that what I want in my browser on my Desire. With the 2.2 it works.
If anyone knows how I can install Flash 10.1 for 2.1 it would be nice to hear it.
It seems I can't remove the FlashLitePlugin.apk and can't really work with ADB.

Best Music App??

While trying to get my music on my GS2, I found the easiest way was through the doubletwist player with Airsync. Seems to be a good player. Was using Google music, but that streams abd uses up my data.
What is your favorite music player???
The stock one works fine, had a few others but none stick out for me.

Been using winamp for about a day now. On my computer iTunes manages all my music so I wanted a music player that could sync with iTunes. Winamp does that fine and I like the layout of the player but it has one rather large inconvenience for me: the playlists don't sync. I went into the settings, specified that it sync all my playlists and specified I wanted them on H:\ (my SD card), but nothing :/
I really like Google music. And just so you know, you can save all the to the phone with one press of a button so it doesn't use the data . You can undo it just as easy.
Was on power Amp now I'm using player pro

I really like poweramp. You can really customize all you want, but for the people who have lots of music that cant fit it all in their phone I guess winamp is good.

Interesting.....when you do that doesn't it use up your storage space on the phone, being that it is downloaded to the device storage and also does it not use the data to to download it to the phone?
Google music works like this. It stream music from your library to your android device. If you lose connection it can stream past played songs that it has saved. So yes it uses storage, and yes it uses data. But it doesn't use much storage.

I was liking stock for a while, but then Raycaster3 told me about PowerAmp, yes you have to pay for it but its by far gives you the most options and great sound quality. I did a test also with it to see how it sounds compared to the stock 5.1 sound. And it sounded the same if not better. Then you mix PowerAmp with a nice set of SkullCandy in ear headphones and your golden. I dont mean anything too expensive either I just went with the $29 ones because they also come with a mic. They are amazing. Oh I guess I also use Google Music because I have 40gigs of music stored in the Google Music Cloud.

Not to brag...but been a long time PowerAmp Pro user since my Nexus One days, and used with my Monster Turbine Gold Ear Buds....nothing short of awesomeness...PS....spent the last two days walking the carpets at the CES Las Vegas extravaganza and and I listened to no less than a dozen competing Ear Bud companies. The Monster Turbines won hands down for purest, smoothest, most pleasing sound quality, IMHO. Oh....I did get to demo a new Headset I saw featured on Fox and Friends before my first trip to the show a couple of days ago. My Bose QC15 noise canceling over the ears headphones got knocked of by a new company I first heard about at the show. ZIK Parrot phones. They work wired as well as Bluetooth wireless. Sound was great but the added features of hand gestures to control volume and track changes was/ is the way of the future. Instead of dealing with unplugging the phones to pause, simply remove from your ears and the music comes to a stop. Put them back on and it starts back where you left off. No price on these since they are not yet released to the public.
But don't even get me going on the best of the event....LG's 55" OLED 3D TV. Will knock anyone's socks off...period, guaranteed, and I will bet the farm on this statement. Thickness = to 3 credit cards stacked!!! Sorry for the slight thread drift, BTW....

Just spent an hour comparing. Yes, I downloaded the much needed DSP pack. PowerAMP WINS, IMHO, hands down. Give it a fair try to compare all aspects. Going thru the menu more preferences is extremely important too.
My 3 favorites in order:
1. ZPlayer - I really love the Zune player on Mango and this is a very good clone of it. It has integrated Shoutcast, a nice UI, a very nice lock screen controls that displays picture of whatever artist is playing as the lockscreen background, artist bio, widgets, equalizer and more. It's missing a few features, such as better playlist creation, but it's a very sexy and stylish player.
2. PowerAmp - The most complete player on the market. Has just about everything I mentioned ZPlayer has (minus Shoutcast and artist bio), in addition to good playlist management. Only cons, is it costs $, doesn't have automatic mixing like the Google player, and no streaming from Google or Amazon. Still just about the best player on the market. Only reason I put Zplayer higher is because I prefer the Zune player look of Zplayer, but that's totally personal preference.
3. Google Music - Great player, but a few things are holding it back. If I have music stored locally, when it syncs with Google it will duplicate the music, so for example I have two Nine Inch Nail artists in Google Music. I wish it would not display the music stored on Google if it already resides locally. Also will always stream by default, even if song is stored locally. Again, they need to make it so that it looks to see if song is stored locally and play that instead of reverting to streaming everything. Automatic mixing only available for streamed music (FYI, when I mention automatic mixing, I'm referring to the feature that is similar to Genius on apple devices - both iTunes on iPhone and Zune on WP7 offer this feature for music stored locally, Google player does not). Interface is a bit clunky.
Those are my personal 3 favorites. If I could find one that marries the UI of ZPlayer, with the features of PowerAmp and streaming capabilities of Google Music, it would be perfect.
Thanks,
Very informative. I loved Google Music, but with Tmobile throttling, not feasable. Is there a hack to get around the throttling?

Look for a thread in the General section. Use Throttling for a search. You will find it Read the thread and specifically go here.
https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10151082945165054
This was referenced in the thread and goes into more detail.
I don't know how long this is going to work, but I have tested this myself and it does indeed keep yopu separated from T-Mobiles grasp on your data usage. I have the feeling this won't last long, based on too many people talking in the open.
EDIT..many of the Roms are also including hacks that help the throttling issue, but not like this which all together bypasses the counting.
For me it's really a two way tie. Poweramp and miui music.
hiki player > everything else

[Q] Dual Music Player Widgets?

Greetings Zooper Deities!
I am still new to andoid in general and Zooper in specific. Widget making is awesome, I am completely in love with the possibilities! I'm just wondering if one of those possibilities is to have dual Zooper music player widgets positioned at the same time. Specifically, I want to make a player for my audible books (sacrificing the 30-second "go back" feature and the sleep timer) and one for my music player (Google PlayMusic for now, until my Rocket Player is supported).
I don't want to go to all the trouble to design a pair of widgets that can't be used together... and I honestly don't even want a homepage for audio playing if it can't control both. The way I have it now is using the proprietary widgets from Rocket Player and Audible, but they are mismatched and ugly and make me sad. :crying:
So, am I still asking too much, or is this a doable goal?
Hi,
What player do you use for your Audio Books?

Just to clarify this: do you want to have separate widgets for different media players or do you want one to rule them all? The first is not possible to do with Zooper because you can't specify which music app should be controlled. The later should be possible, though I've never used Audible and thus I'm not sure if Media Utilities(MU) fully supports it.
P.S.: deities? love that
I use the audible app to download and control my audio books. They offer a widget that works pretty well, but is ugly as sin.
I want to be able to switch on-the-fly from listening to my audiobook to listening to music. I can do that with the proprietary widgets, seamlessly: pressing play on one pauses the other and starts up where it left off. It needn't be *that* complex, I'm capable of pressing pause and then play myself. So, short answer long, I do indeed want two players.

[APP] Poweramp Remote 4 Android Wear

Hello.
Just want to share some very good news - there's ain Play Store called "Poweramp Remote 4 Android Wear", and it works with Moto 360 like a charm. The app is paid, but it finally allows to use Moto 360 to control music as fully as Sony's SmartWatch 2 used to do.
WBR, Draco
first off, FINALLY THANK YOU.
second: few small things to make it perfect:
1. folder list
2. metadata is sometimes off, mostly pictures but sometimes I'll go to an artist and not see a song I know I have...if I find the another way the artist will show as same.
3. browsing on general should mirror poweramp...one of the reasons I will never switch away from poweramp is the way you can browse for a song: folders and artist then album.
there's one more annoyance that no one do anything about though and that's the ever present default notification that comes first when you play music . Once you can get this stuff working this will be as good as the app in SW2...really missed that app
Hi.
I'm not the developer of this app, I've just posted here about it You can contact developer via Play Store. As for the default music notification, it drives me mad also, but apparently there's nothing to be done yet - Android Wear is sort of a parody on the real Android...
WBR, Draco.
I looked at it but have been a supporter of the MusicBoss for Wear app. It can control pretty much any app that controls volume and the dev is responsive to fixes! I have been following the dev since the Kickstarter Pebble. So he is a user as well.

Already there
I have also Music Boss (and on my pebble) but very huge difference, with Music Boss we can not browse Album, Artist, Title, and not setup for equalizer.
For Wear I use Stellio found before the Power Amp app (I have also Power Amp on my phone).

True, but I like to actually see what I am doing there on the phone, which is better to view the settings IMO. I have tried Stellio as well and is ok, but I gravitate back to MB for just playback and volume controls.

[Q] Supported audio files.

I couldn't find anything posted already, and just wanted to know if there is a list of supported files types with the Moto 360. All my music is in lossless format at the moment and wanted to see what format I would need for syncing to the device itself. I have scoured google several times for an answer, but have ever found one myself. Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks =)
Its based on gMusic so presumably the support should be the same.

Wrong, any music you download on the Google Play Music app on the phone can be uploaded to the Watch. (tick the "Download to Android Wear" in the Google Play Music settings)

Stands corrected
I did not know that bit of information since i quit using google play music app years ago and keep it disabled; here is some good articles on it http://www.droid-life.com/2014/10/24/how-to-store-music-on-android-wear-for-offline-playback/ http://www.androidcentral.com/play-music-android-wear-how-use-it-and-what-it-still-needs but it has limitations; storage on watch 4GB, that is for all apps and music you will run out fast, play music makes it is extremely clunky to pick individual songs (see the android central article) , but my biggest concern would be battery life, (that streaming Bluetooth connection to you headset will eat the battery alive.) .

sweet, will be interested to hear about this
Probably easiest just to create a Moto360 playlist and sync that one.
