Wasn't in the Verizon version I purchased yesterday either, but once I downloaded it the ability to get updates in Blinkfeed was there. Not sure whether that ability existed before I downloaded/installed it because I hadn't tried.
Fitbit question?

It wasn't in my Verizon M8, either. Question for you...after downloading it, the app works great, the widget updates "live". However, while I see the Fitbit under Blinkfeed's Services and Apps, after checking the box, I get no Fitbit stats in Blinkfeed.
I manually pull down to refresh and there is NO CONTENT.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

If you tap on any of the "squares" in the Blinkfeed for Fitbit it will take you directly to the application for your stats. I know that's not actually showing the stats in Blinkfeed, though.

Therein lies the problem. Even though I only have Calendar and Fitbit checked, the only things that show up under both the "Highlights" Blinkfeed and the "Fitbit" Blinkfeed are calendar events.
Ergo, there is nothing to even click on to get over to the Fitbit application...only square(s) for calendar events (which, when clicked, take me to the Calendar app as it's supposed to do)
I was using Pure Nexus but decided Sunday that I wanted to go back to stock. I wiped data and Fastboot flashed the March Factory image. When everything was done setting up I was left with a long search bar and a missing weather widget, anyone seen this before? I've gone through all the Google app settings and haven't been able to fix it.
Yeah, I got that too.. looks like poo
There have been some articles on that, some people are seeing it some aren't. Usually happening after resetting phone or wiping pixel launcher data. http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/03/29/new-pixel-launcher-design-showing-users/

Clear the Pixel launcher cache and data under apps. This will return it to the pill/date-weather. You will have to set up your home screen again.

I still don't have the new updated white look for Android Messages. I still have the one with the blue at top. Anything I can do to get the update?

Apk mirror generally has updated apps out before google does.

Not sure if it's out yet, I haven't seen anything about that. I know XDA had a write up on how to enable it but if it was killed from memory it went back to the old way
You can obviously do the APK method but then you won't get updates from Play store for your Android messages App

Is that so? APK Mirror say you will?
I don't think anyone has it enabled and downloading the latest from APK isn't going to help:

I use APK mirror all the time for updates and still get Play Store updates afterwards.

No you will still get Playstore updates as long as they are a newer version then the one you sideloaded.
This is available now. You can get it from APK mirror
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/messenger-google-inc/messenger-google-inc-3-5-048-release/
The APK method does work and will get updates - it's the same APK you'd get from the play store.
Once installed, force-close the app and you should have the new interface next time you open it.

Force stopping the app and opening it again worked for me
This is awesome! Now just for Gmail. I can't stand the stupid 5 year old kid crayon colors Google's been using... BUT, what the hell happened to the widget??? Mine disappeared, and there is no widget to select now either... This is NOT okay.
The dark mode option is such a tease. System wide dark mode please!

I can assume this is the correct APK for the Pixel 2 XL?
Yeah it's the right one.. Also, if you use messages on the web, it matches!
Soooo, I changed my wallpaper, and now the new look is gone. Seriously. I've force closed, cleared cache, rebooted, nothing will bring it back. What. The. Eff... Maybe it wasn't turned on correctly on the server side with this update? Anyone else have this problem? I really miss it, but I went back one version and have my widget back. Not sure which I want more...
I installed the apk from apkmirror, forced closed and it was there, for 2 days..... It has since reverted back to the old layout with no dark mode option. Anyone else?
UPDATE: Just found my answer on another thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/how-to/android-messages-dark-mode-t3830570

Same here as well. The new material design simply disappeared and reverted back to the previous layout
update to Oct patchset. I have some awesome news!!! The Oct patchset fixes the Ram mgmt issue on Pixel devices for good. Looks like it was a leak in System UI.
I have tried to reproduce my bug and I can start as many apps as I want and it does not lock up anymore. You can refer
https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/pixel/2019-10-01
for more details.
Edit: I could keep about 20 apps, including camera, firefox, whatsapp, slack, gmail, messages, photos, play store, amazon shopping and so on. They stay put on my Pixel3XL!! Awesome!
Wow. So it took Google just a year to fix this?

Better late than never right.
So how exactly should this feature behave? I've never understood.
It should stay in the Recents drawer and not reload the app when re-opening?
Link in the OP doesn't work. This one has a list of updates, though: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/pixel/2019-10-01

Not a feature. If this is true (what the OP is stating), this is how the phone should have behaved on day one. But yes, the apps should remain open after "re-opening" them from your app drawer.

Fixed.
Yes... I also noticed opening camera app doesn't kill my background apps (like Spotify, Google play music, GPS tracking sw) as often like before... Let's see if this keeps....
Anything like that for pie? Like, a fix I mean...
Any magisk module to help with that? Or something?
So all of a sudden the large version of the Google weather widget no longer takes me to Google weather when tapping it. The small version does. I have cleared the Google cache and rebooted.
Thinking this was just me a pixel 4a has the same problem...
Confirmed here also. Tried removing old widget from Nova Launcher and put a new one of the same widget. Tried rebooting. I made sure all my Play Store apps are up to date - I got them all updated, and checked for a Play System Update (none there).
No change in behavior.

Does the smaller widget still link?
This is very strange. I can't see what update knocked the behaviour off.

Yep, confirmed the smaller one still works when clicked on.
Just an update. . Uninstalling the Google app/ back date fixes the issue for now.
I can't believe more people aren't reporting this issue. It's happening on all three pixel devices in our house.
I've reported to Google.

Thanks! Maybe more people use the smaller one than the larger one - or don't even realize there's a larger one available. I actually only use it as a backup to confirm my main weather app's reports, and I have a third weather app installed as well since sometimes two are just as (occasionally) unreliable as one.
Slight necro, but I just realized today that the larger weather widget is working again. I have the widget two screens to the right from my primary homescreen, so I don't look at it too often. I assume it started working with one of the February updates, although I don't know for certain when it started working again.
