addonsu - not Root Access option - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have recently flashed LineageOS Sagit 15.1 along with addonsu-14.1-arm64-signed.zip on my device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-xiaomi-mi6-t3754382
https://download.lineageos.org/extras
After installation, I was following these steps to enable root access:
https://www.theandroidsoul.com/root...ump-how-to-enable-root-for-apps-on-lineage-os
But I dont see the option "Root Access" in the developers section. I can only see "Manage Root Access", which is greyed out (I guess because no app has root permissions yet).
Does anyone have an idea why that might be?
Thank you!
BR,
Philipp

[Q] su not working correct

Hi,
im using the latest slimbean rom (but also tried with the stock rom) and UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip.
My problem is that the root access is not working correctly. While it works for titanium and droidwall, it is not working for other root programs like root browser. For AdAway it worked once after several restarts.
I´ve granted root access for those programs and it always shows that the root access is granted when the program is trying to do its task. But it always stops with the info that the root acess is missing.
any ideas how to fix this?
We don't have to flash the SuperSU anymore for root to work properly.
For Slimbean, root permission to apps is disabled by default. Can you check to see if it's enabled for "Apps and ADB":
* Settings --> Advanced options --> Superuser --> Settings
OR
* Settings --> Developer options --> Root access
ah great, using the build-in su works fine. thx.
i guess using both caused the problem. i´ve uninstalled super su and flashed slim bean again. works now.

You're going to have to wait for quite sometime. Firstly Mediatek is something new for Sony. Previously it was Qualcomm so the steps are more or less the same. Secondly this is a mid range phone by Sony so there won't be much waves about this phone because most people will be getting Z5.
But nonetheless i think this phone is pretty decent that's why i get M5 instead of Z5.
So we got to be patient. Very very patient.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m5/general/unlock-bootloader-t3220927
Unlock bootloader is now possible.
Did anybody, other then the poster have success with this rootmaster?
And does this require the boot loader to be unlocked?
Doing a Google search for MT6795 (our chipset) shows that Mediatek has at some point released the sources of the kernel and baseband, but all the links to their github are dead.
If we can find someone who has pulled these sources before they were taken off and a developer who knows how to put them to use we might get custom recoveries, root and custom ROMs.

I found this , is it what you were looking for?
Unfortunately I found some other info saying it e wasn't actually released but leaked. Which explains why it has been taken off again. These posts also said that those sources were incomplete and only applies to a xiuomi (or something like that) model and not to other phones.
And on top of that I am not a developer so I can't do anything with the sources myself. I just read the blogs and these sources seem to be the reason why we still don't have root.
So maybe a developer could have a look at the sources you found and verify if they are real and complete. If they are this might get us one step closer to open development for our device.

I did but it doesn't support our device. I put in a research request, but there aren't enough for them to research or device.
More requests might help, but I don't know how many they need.
I think our hopes of rooting M5 is definitely not going to happen....

Kingroot can successfully root our device, but it requires a couple of tries. I had to run it 5 times before it was successful.

Root issue with superSU in some android applications

I have rooted my Mi Max with original MI OS and most of the applications can run with root access but my important application that can change the font was not passed the root permission and as well as adblock application.
I did run with root checker application and it shows that my phone has proper root access but when I applied the font changer application and got error that no root access. I have used latest superSU and busybox, I have no idea to fix up and I have tried to google it but can not find it.
Please let me know if you got experience with that, thanks in advance.

How to upgrade Note 2 to newer Android and pass SafetyNet / without being flagged

Hi my friend has a Note 2 who has a very old Android version. Some apps can't be installed without upgrading the system.
I downloaded a custom ROM (Resurrection Remix Android 7.1.2 Nougat) and helped him to flash to upgrade.
However some apps limited the functionality or refused to run. I believe it has to do with the fact it is a custom ROM.
How could I solve the problem? It doesn't matter what ROM to upgrade, as long as:
1. it is stable
2. Android 6 or above (he wants permission manager, preferably with Privacy Guard)
3. can pass SafetyNet and any popular ways app use to detect a custom ROM
Thank you.
You can try to hide root using Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

Hi, I tried now but it still fails to pass SafetyNet check:
ctsProfile: false
basicIntegrity: false
I wonder it is due to the fact this is a custom ROM. Even Magisk couldn't help to pass it.
Magisk hide does not work properly either. I checked the targeted app, went back and returned. The check mark is removed.
You may have to try different combinations of custom ROMs and Magisk.
I have been out of the custom ROM scene but some of the latest Lineage ROMs may not be rooted.

I'm not quite sure but does Google not let your device pass simply because you use a custom ROM, rooted or not.
It states SafetyNet tries detect whether or not a device is in a known-good state.
Do you know if it is ok to flash other stock ROM of the same series, like Note5/7/8 stock firmware?
Will it solve the issue?
If so, can he get the system updates automatically via the system menu?
Thank you.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Google's Safetynet to comment.
There are people who are able to use custom ROMs with apps that do not allow root. Not all custom ROMs are rooted.
You can only flash stock note 2 ROMs to your phone.

Never mind. Thank you so much for you trying to help.
I found the solution. Magisk cannot pass SafetyNet due to a lack of necessary functionality required in the kernel of our devices.
OK I managed to solve it and bypass SafetyNet checks. You have to use Lineage Su and iSu.
Step-by-step guide
Uninstall other su first if you have.
Download Lineage Su and iSu
https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/su/addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=120360 (look for "iSu_X_X.apk" where X is version number)
Boot into recovery: For Samsung devices, power off your phone. Then hold "Volume Up + Home + Power Button" to boot.
Select "backup and restore" > "backup to /sdcard" (in case if anything goes wrong, you still have your system backup to restore)
If you download directly from the phone (using the internal memory), select "install zip" > "choose zip from /sdcard". It should be at /sdcard/0/Download/ or /sdcard/Download/.
If you transfer the file from the computer to the external (removable) sdcard, select "install zip" > "choose zip from /storage/sdcard1".
Select "addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip" file and select "Yes - Install xxx"
After install, go back to the main menu. Select "reboot system now" > "No" (do not need to fix root)
Install iSu app (Open "File Manager" and click on the iSu apk file. Do NOT use "Files" app. It can't run apk file)
Enable root access. Go to system settings > "Developer options" > "Root access" > "Apps only".
Run iSu app. Change the following:
"Change SU state" = deactivated
"Change SELinux state" = Enforcing

Problem with Banking software

Hi,
I'am new to LineageOS and I am having issues with my banking software "VR SecureGO". The app terminates immediately and a browser opens with the messe "A jailbreak or root has been detected on your mobile device".
What I have done so far:
Installed Magisk and hided it to the app --> no success
Removed magisk and removed previous su by "addonsu-remove16.0"
My questions:
Is it enough to remove magisk, restore boot partition and run addonsu-remove to have a "unrooted" device?
Is it possible, that LineageOS itself is the problem and not the root?
Thanks for help
You have to make sure that you hide it right after you freshly installed it, maybe it helps.
