I chose the Mi Mix 2 over the Huawei Mate 10 because of price, updates and looks and I've not regretted it. It's also one of the few phones without the stupid notch. I recommend that you buy it but don't get it from Lightinthebox. You're better off with Gearbest even if it's a few dollars more.

I love mine. I would debate on whether you should maybe wait for the Mi Mix 2S or not. We are finally at the point where the AOSP ROMs are pretty solid as an alternative to MIUI. So if using something like Resurrection Remix or Lineage OS is a strong desire, then the 2 is probably a better choice over the 2s.

Thanks dude
My Mi Mix 2 is coming ^^
I got mine for a few days now and I cannot say anything else that I love it! Definitely it worths its price
I've got the note 8 before and except for the s-pen, I dont miss it. The mi mix has better size, a big screen in a more handly body and it has very nice design. The fingerprint sensor is waaaaaay better. Performing its as well, Samsung is still a little laggy sometimes, here there is no lag at all, everything run so fast... I cannot complain about anything not even for the camera which I readed its trash... its not for me, fulfills perfectly in most situations.
You made a very good purchase, enjoy it

It really depends on what you are looking for. But i love my phone.
I chose the Mi Mix 2 because of the high ratio of display (almost bezel less) and the possibility to use custom rom (but for the sake of argument... Unlocking the bootloader is F***ING ANNOYING).
At this time around, i join with the other users... wait for the official specs of the Mi Mix 2S, before you make a decision.

Maybe they changed the procedure, because i unlocked the BL of a Redmi 3 for a friend of mine. It was quite simple indeed.
But mine was not. I subcribed to the MIUI-Forum, needed a VPN-Client so connect to china and had to wait 72 Hours.

Wtf...
There is some Telegram or WhatsApp group about Mi Mix 2?
Sad story, yesterday I broke my s4 glass, I accidentally dropped it, not once, but twice. First time it strenuously survived, but the second time unavoidably it broke.
So, after half a day of mourning I then didn't look around but went straight reading about mi mix2. And you know what?
It happened that today was the Mi Mix 2S presentation date. :crying:
So now I'm torn. Wait for a while for the 2S or don't look ahead but buy the mix2.
My main concern is about the mi mix 2 OS, it will be global already or will I have to update the software all by myself (or better, thanks to XDA? )

Why would you cry mate? It brings advantages on both ways. Either you pick Mi Mix 2, of which price is already dropping slowly, or you decide to get 2S which will (surprisingly, to be fair) launch with the same price as its predecessors (3299 CNY/ 32999 INR / 530 $) and will sport some important improvements (wireless charging, massive camera upgrade, AI, newer SoC, upgraded curved body). It's up to you what you choose. If you care about the camera at least a little bit, you shoule be aware of the fact that Mix 2's camera is really bad (and I'm generous).
Additionally, Mix 2S supports Project Treble which will drastically facilitate the creation of custom ROMs. So I think the amazing local developers will surely look after this device.

i know, the issue is that I have to change it now. So I doubt Mi Mix 2s will go on the market fast enough. And on the other front if Mix 2's camera is really THAT bad I will have to pass.
I'll have to find another option. Counting also that 6" are too big for me. In the beginning I was waiting for the mi7 but this accident changed my plans.

I understand your situation... Don't you have any spare phone you could use in the meantime? Mi Mix 2S reportedly launches on the 3rd of Apríl (for the rest of world; in China it might have launched already).
Keep in mind that this 6" phone, thanks to almost no bezels, won't increase the size any drastically. My guess (I don't have time to look it up, I apologize) is 1cm for height and basically nothing for width.
Also be aware that Mi line, which you were waiting for, doesn't support many LTE bands. So if you live in Europe, that's a big problem.
For the 2's camera - look up the test on the internet... it's quite average and considering the price it's bad. That's the reason why Xiaomi is releasing a semi-generation phone, mainly improving the camera quality

I googled yesterday to find out any dates (I followed part of the presentation where I only got the prices) but didn't have any luck. Sure if the date is around the April, I can wait. The S4 still works it's the glass that is quite broken. Sorry if I ask again, so the rom won't be localized, given it's just an update it won't mount Mi Mix2 rom?

Feel free to ask anything, that's why this forum exists
I answered you incompletely, confused you - Mix 2S will surely have community support thanks to Project Treble, but it will, of course, come with localized ROM out of box. In their presentation they mentioned a personal assistent - whatever its name was - which they (surprisingly, haha) compared to Siri. Then in the slides they had a line saying for China only, which indicates there will be a global edition not including this feature. So just in case you needed a proof, this probably is one
Btw I'm the same case as you - working on original Sony Xperia Z (2013) with broken screen. However a little more than a half is touch accessible so I'm still surviving and slowly searching for a new phone

I had a brief look in the ROMs area, and it didn't seem that the MiMax has any currently released nougat ROMS. Will they be coming? What is the holdup-- they are not supplying source code, or...?
Curious, because I am thinking of buying one.
Anyone know of other comparably ludicrously large phones? I'm interested in devices over six inches....
Should I buy this phone? Why or why not?
definitly yes! You should buy it! Coming from Sony Xperia Z Ultra, I've got mine one month ago and I am very happy about this phone. Until now I can't see any cons. I use it of course as a phone but also as a computer. Net surfing, news, video, music, etc.. The battery is awesome in my opinion, usually last more than 2 days and charge quite fast.
I don't know about nougat but I don't care right now.
I ordered a Honor Note 8, a little bigger(6,6") and I will compare. After my Z Ultra, I can't use a phone less than this size.
If you like these big screens too, go ahead.
I'd say definitely yes. Especially at this price its a steal. It doesn't feel ridiculously large in your hand even if you have small hands though I've large hands. Its great as a phablet but as a tablet tiny yet comfortable enough to be used like a phone. I'd say Mi has hit the perfect sweet spot with this size. The only downside I've felt is trying to swype-type with my left hand on a traffic light, for this its not very easy on this phone. Anybody with small hands you've to use 2 hands to type. Atleast for this sake, I really wish keymonk was still developed(only keyboard on which you can swype with both fingers ). Finding tempered glasses & a holster pouch was a chore though. For a phone this size you definitely need those. But there are very few phones @ these sizes & with the kind of community support like Xiaomi. Moto, Huawei & Leeco come to mind. But moto & huawei provides slightly under-powered hardware & Leeco provides great specs but their own stock firmware is underwhelming not to mention the smaller & slower community support & response than Xioami. Right now Xiaomi seems to be riding high on all these.
P.S. - The only other phone which would be better is the Mi Mix @ 6.4". that too only because of the higher resolution & bevel-less design, but is in different price band though. Even though this phone, the Mi Max, has great SOT, I was wishing & hoping we get a similar phone but with SD 82x processor, Which Mi answered quickly with the Mix. So now I find myself wanting the Mi Mix with the SD835. And the fickleness goes on & on...

Nougat is in development, beta version is already there and tested.
Need to buy exactly, since similar devices in the same price present.
I'm curious if anyone else is considering the new Xiaomi Mi Mix instead of the Pixel XL? I realize there will be less (minimal) dev support for the phone since it will be more of a limited run but it looks great and with Nova on top I'm wondering if MIUI would be that bad? Not running the latest Android version, assuming limited dev support, has only two of the LTE bands for AT&T I think but the uniqueness of the phone with some pretty stout internals is making me consider it. Still waiting to see a real review, Android Central I think has the phone, to see if it can be used as a DD here in the US.
Just wondering what you guys think of the move?
Was gonna do.they same til my Pixel shipped. Couple worries I had. No lte for att in US. Poor dev support with the limited production. I had a mi 5 pro and it was awesome. But I like customizing more and that's why I sold it. Just my 2 cents.

Not through official channels but I think that's kind of like winking while saying something. There are a few places to buy the phone, this is one of them, http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Mix-Pro-6GB-256GB-Smartphone---Black-Gold-373537.html

Not really. Not having a clear upgrade path would keep me away from any phone, I don't even consider Samsung phones for this reason (even though they do eventually get updates)
Blech. I don't get the Mi Mix at all...
I need some darn bezel so I'm not touching the screen while holding it. They can do all the errant touch detection they want, but it won't work as well as not touching the screen in the first place.
I also like more bottom bezel so I don't have to contort my thumb to touch the nav buttons when operating with one hand.
Although with. 6.4" screen one handed use is likely a fantasy anyway. That screen is way too big for a phone.
I truly hope all phones don't start going that route. Bad design.

I certainly understand where you're coming from but I will tell you after spending a couple of months with the Note 7 which really was bezeless (basically) on the sides I had no issues using it. The S7 however has been completely the opposite with accidental app launches all the time. I actually find it more comfortable to use a larger phone, I'm resigned to not going one handed anymore with my phone...
I was more WOWed with the Mi Note 2!!! The specs size all have my attention. They say there is a international version coming out this week. Is Xiaomi that big of a wildcard? The lack of Pixel XL being on sale direct and V20 (i am tied to ATT no choice) not having its bootloader unlocked yet, have me gun shy of any ATT direct phone after it took so long for my Note 4 to get updated. I like the XL wish they had kept it 5.7 as I love my old Note I will probably go with the XL but man that was the Xiaomi unit that caught me and several co workers attention, as a couple still are clutching there Note 7s like dying children.

I think the Mi Note2 is a great looking phone, obviously a lot of similarity between it and the deceased Note7. There is just a lot of "WOW" factor with the Mi Mix though there are some negatives and some unknowns like how is the sound on the phone?
I heard only the Mi Note 2 have have all the international bands, but the Mi Mix is not for export only available in China only.
I would... If its camera didn't blow

Hi everyone, lost my Mi5, was pretty happy with it... Now I can get either White Mi5 for 290 EUR either Mi5S 3/64 or 4/32 in gold for 325EUR. Grey is 360 and I want to save money...
Not pretty much options for such budget.. Mi6 is around 500 EUR, I don't think I need it to loose or break
I see support from Xiaomi is pretty bad, but LineageOS should be out soon?
So, should I get it, what do owners think? Like it?
Thank you!
I have had mine for a few weeks now and I like it alot. With proper LineageOS I think it will be perfect! I can recommend 5S.
Official nougat coming next week so I think it's worth the buy. I'm very pleased with mine got it 280€ 2 months ago.

That's only a beta and available only for the beta team. And even if it were a public beta it's still MIUI8 based on Nougat, which I doubt will have many new features. Or have I read something wrong?
Proper Nougat update is still months away for Mi5s.
Saw the camera tests of the Mi6 and it´s no reason to change the model. The camera is not so sharp and light as ours and the videos are in my opinion very bad. The advantages are the optical image stabilisation and the zoom. But the sensor is miles away from ours. I´m happy with the Mi5S, especially after testing the HTC 10, which also has a good camera. But the results have been also not so sharp and clean as we are used.
yes, xiaomi released the source code for the kernel, the devs will be tweaking Os

Which room are you using atm?
As a phone, the Mi5S is more than you'll ever need in the coming years in terms of speed and camera. There are some minor downsides though. Audio quality over headphones isn't the best and the volume rockers are a bit wobbly, though the case of Nillkin I have forces you to press the right way so you won't notice or break them. Software support, though drivers aren't their best (mostly the fingerprint scanner), is still pretty good in contrary to popular believe. So yes, for the price it's a great buy. If you're still doubting you can wait untill the Motorola X4 which is coming soon (although prices are unknown for now). It's slower and has a worst camera, but experience will be comparable in daily use. Software and driver support will be better though. For Xiaomi you can also look at the Note 4X (SD variant). Good camera, fast enough for most people, insane battery life and a very low price.
As a whole I'm very pleased with the Mi5S myself, so it's save to say that it won't be a bad buy if you do purchase it. BTW, they are going away for about 260 euro's on some sites (without taxes), so it's good to look around a bit and keep track of (flash) discounts.
Hi all,
Im looking for a new phone, i currently own a redmi note 3 pro, but i want a better phone overrall, i always loved mi mix, altough it was too expensive for me and a bit too big, plus the camera isnt that great..
Well, mi mix 2 was announced, kinda disappointed in some way, but i still like it, camera is good (could be better), dont care about no headphone jack, only thing that i would really like is the double camera, on the other hand, there is one plus 5, ~100€ less than mi mix 2 on gearbest, great phone overall, nice camera, but the design isnt as good as mi mix 2....
Well, im sure some of you guys have the mi mix 2, do you recommend it or should i go for one plus 5 or another phone?
Also i was looking now at the LG G6, looks cool too.

Well I couldn't resist and already bought the mi mix 2 on gearbest, but I made the mistake of buying the 64gb when the 128gb was only 10€ more, only saw it after, thanks for the feedback tho, got me more confident.
Hopefully we get some custom roms like lineage soon.
Does it come with tempered glass? If not where I can buy one
Definitely Mix2 is better than OP5
Well, I'm in the same place as were you, ShadyGame, but I'm more patient
MI Mix2 is beautifull for me, my only concern is about GPS accuracy (I know Mi5 had problems), so I wait for some owners opinions

I purchased one last week, have the Redmi Note 3 Special Ed. Was tossing up between this and the Oneplus5 as well.
Hope it arrives soon, any thoughts on staying with the ROM it comes with. Here in Australia if I root or unlock the phone my banking apps will not work.

galaxy 8 here costs like 800€ in my country, simply not an option when i can buy mi mix 2 for 530.
I own both currently. The OP5 is much lighter and the Oxygen OS is much more stock. The MIX2 just looks more modern with the bezeless design. Talking about weight again, the MIX2 almost makes my hands tired holding it for a long time compared to the OP5. The ceramic is absolutely beautiful, but don't know if its worth the weight since you cover it up with a case almost immediately. Performance wise, they are similar. Both are snappy and get stuff done. Camera wise, both aren't as good as the top flagships, but they do the job sufficiently.
OxygenOS is WAY better than MIUI. It was just easier to setup with launchers and the interface is just cleaner. I was having all kinds of trouble with notifications with MIUI, but I finally have it working right. Maybe things would be different with the global rom?? Who knows, but I can't wait for some alternate ROM to show up to clean things up. My final decision is going to be to stick with the MIX2. Reason being I can't stand the 4 year old design that Oneplus stole from apple.

I dont really care about the OS when im buying a new phone, i know i will be rooting it and installing a stock rom, hopefully we get lineage soon...untill then ill stick to MIUI is not that bad in my opinion.
What do you guys think how long will this device live?
I am still using a Oneplus One, which is pretty old by now - so I tend to settle on phones and only switch once something is broken or I'm really impressed. Development for Oneplus One ROMs / Kernels is still going on, because it was a highly anticipated phone and had many users. Is the Mi Mix 2 compared to the OPO a niche product?

Previous models have good support in Lineage.

It will live untill you break it xD, i mean, look at that screen, never gets old, with snapdragon 825 and 6 gigs of ram i think it will be a good phone for the years to come...the only thing i wish it was better is the camera, from what i've seen, still didnt receive mine, but i dont expect the quality of an iphone or s8, or even LG v30.
Hello!
I am looking to buy this Mi Mix Fold for around 1300 euro brand new. First if all, do you think it is worth the money?
How is durability? Is it better than the first generation Samsung Galaxy Fold?
How is the hinge? Does it feel good?
How do you feel about the lack of OIS and wireless charging?
How is MUI on this fold? Is it buggy?
TWRP anytime soon? Anyone using Magisk?
Whats your overall view of this foldable phone?
Hopeful for answers

Hello!
Kindly find below my feedback, I hope it will be useful for you to take the decision.
I am looking to buy this Mi Mix Fold for around 1300 euro brand new. First if all, do you think it is worth the money?
In my opinion it worth the money.
How is durability? Is it better than the first generation Samsung Galaxy Fold?
Its not durable, you should handle with care (office use). Yes better
How is the hinge? Does it feel good?
Yes.
How do you feel about the lack of OIS and wireless charging?
I am using normal charging. its good. Chinese rom
V12.0.19.0.RJTCNXM
How is MUI on this fold? Is it buggy?
Chinese rom is ok. no bugs but needs improvements. which is very slow
TWRP anytime soon? Anyone using Magisk?
Awaiting.... but no use as there will be no custom roms as expected.
Whats your overall view of this foldable phone?
Overall is very good phone, its better than Mate xs and Samsung fold 2, but I did not try mate x2 which is in my opinion better than our mix fold specially the external screen. (mix fold is narrow).

Thank you very very much for your answer!
It's all good. The sound is out of this world. Expected for 4 speakers. It's good on all points you mentioned.
Mines going up for sale cause I have the mate x2 too. It has a better camera which I need cause I want the best pics with my young kids

Someone posted this further up. That hit the nail on the head. Mate x2 might be slightly better. Only due to its ridiculously good camera. The form factor is better on the mi mix fold, videos are larger cause of this, websites look better, x2 is too square like.
If you need best camera, x2
If you need best video watching experience and music playback, mix fold
MixFold Price is better

Congratulations
I see there are screen protectors applied, both on the inside screen and outside. Is the screen protector on the inside big screen removable? Or will that kill the screen? Anyone tried to remove it?
I really hope that Xiaomi didn't do an oopsie here like Samsung did with the first 'unreleased" fold

No not removable, and you cannot put any extra screen protector on it.
I just bought one to Giztop now and its an amazing phone...12/512GB... Miui is near perfection fast and many tweak options the pictures are amazing and you can take very incredible photos ... the only annoying thing is after updating to Miui 13 Android 12 PC MODE DO NOT longer work ..
Fold1 USB hardware port is defective: only after some fiddling it sometimes allows for charging, and I haven't been successful to get a USB disk working...Looks like a deadly hardware failure after 18 months of ownership...I'm currently in Germany, but I'll be to China by the end of February. Anybody some ideas on how to fix that?
