Solved
It probably would help to explain how it was solved so that other people with the same issue find a solution
Probably a soft brick!........nothing to worry as long as twrp is intact you can flash any other rom without formatting the data. Even if twrp is gone, boot into the fastboot mode and flash twrp and you are good to go.

Hi fellow G4 owners I have ran into quite a bothersome and weird issue after flashing a recent nightly of CM 13.1 on my g4 , I realized I couldn't boot into my twrp anymore , it seems to boot in what I think is the phone's factory recovery only displaying a few lines of text that are all related to the my bootloader's unlocked status .... Ive tried reflashing the recovery many time through flashify and adb , it doesn't change anything ....
Hoping anyone has already had that problem and could help. Cheers

Try
fastboot boot twrp.img
If you see twrp push the twrp image to your device and choose image at the bottom and flash twrp to recovery
Btw Download and use the latest twrp

Will try this and report !
Sadly it boots to the screen I was talking about in my previous post which actually happens to be fastboot not factory recovery my bad.
I did some flashing , apparently when trying to flash the latest recovery the flashing goes well but then I get an error saying there is a dtb error, I am unable to even boot it through fastboot.
I managed to flash twrp's 2.8.7.0 version but again if rebooting to recovery through adb command it takes me to the same fastboot screen however I am able to boot to this version of the recovery via fastboot commands and that's the only way I can actually reach a recovery .....
Hoping that helps in any way for other peeps in the same situation , I'm gonna try to flash a more recent rom will report once done !

Oh How do you try to get into recovery??? Which key combo?
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
The volume key power button combo strangely never worked on my G4 I use either the advanced reboot on the phone or through ADB.
I just flashed the lasted cm 14.1 nightly after flashing an older twrp and booting into it , with that version I can boot into twrp with no problem but after flashing the latest twrp the problem reappeared .... This is so weird :/

The only valid and always working and supported way on getting with a key combo into twrp is using the factory reset screen.
Any other key combo like vol up + power depends on the kernel of the ROM! So it may work or not. Factory reset will work always.
for this you have to ensure that you have the latest twrp version really installed(!) because if twrp sits in recovery it will ignore the factory reset command when going through it.
Edit:
Check the faq in the official twrp thread for a howto.

Hey guys. So here's the thing. I unlocked the zuk's z2 bootloader using the standard method (fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash unlock unlock_bootloader.img, with the img they sent me via email, and then fastboot -i 0x2b4c oem unlock-go), and then I went to flash the TWRP recovery. I downloaded the recovery image from the official twrp website and proceeded to flash it with "fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash recovery twrp.img". The flashing was successful. But before restarting the device, I chose the option to boot into recovery, so that the original recovery wouldn't overwrite TWRP. However, the phone does not boot into the recovery, ever. It "shuts down", tries to boot into recovery, and without showing anything on the screen simply restarts to the normal system. Even flashing a stock ROM in the phone with MiFlash (relocking the bootloader) and trying to boot into the stock recovery does not work.
And, the only method to boot into any recovery that works is to use "fastboot -i 0x2b4c boot recovery.img". But as we know this isn't permanent.
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text, I wanted to make sure what I said was clear Please help guys, what should I do??

Why not flash twrp as an image file while in non permanent twrp? And while you're there flash supersu too.

I did manage to flash a custom ROM, GApps and Magisk with the temporary TWRP and everything worked. But I just flashed the TWRP image as you said and the flash was successful, but the phone still doesn't boot into recovery
WTF is going on?? Its kinda like the image is being flashed correctly, but the phone fails to access the recovery partition to boot it... Halp!
Edit: Flashing via flashify also didn't work...

As that window on boot shows that in 5 sec. to push anything, choose from that window Boot to bootloader, from there using volume buttons choose boot to recovery, it will reboot, wait those 5 secs and immediately after that window gone keep pushing both volume buttons and it should boot your recovery - it's the same for me and idk why

Hello,
after flashing recovery with latest TWRP (twrp-3.1.0-0-bullhead - md5 checked), I restarted the bootloader (fastboot restart-bootloader)
But from that point on, the phone only showed a black screen. it still shows in fastboot devices and boots, possibly to the pin-check. power volume down makes a screen capture sound there.
No screen in bootloader, no screen on boot. Only thing that seems to happen is the backlight switching.
Tried to restore factory defaults with the flash all bat from the stock builds, fastloader -w and the flash stock & unroot option from latest nexus root toolkit.
Does anyone have any other idea what I can try?
thanks in advance

I've never seen anyone restart the bootloader. Reboot but not restart. Hopefully they are the same but I have not a clue as to what that does to your phone after flashing recovery. For future reference after flashing recovery, boot into recovery, once in recovery, I always reboot to recovery again, then flash supersu.
I'm glad you have fastboot still. You could try this, flash_all again. Afterwards, boot into TWRP (don't install) do a factory reset and then reboot. Make sure your flash-all is installing everything. I always flash mine one at a time. Good luck

Thank you for the reply. I will try a flash all with TWRP again.
as for the restart - i just looked it up - it was a reboot-bootloader command. Misspelled there.
I just got my 5t a couple of days back. Unlocked the bootloader and used Blu spark twrp and magisk beta for root.
On restart phone would boot up to one plus logo, and then just go black. The notification light goes on. But nothing else.
Help please?
Edit FIXED(No data loss)
1. Boot into TWRP, clear cache. Hard reset(Volume up + Power from a switched off state).
2. Boot back into twrp.
3. Adb push full zip(Found here - Signed Flashable Zip)(Adb push follows this syntax - adb push /(filename).zip /storage/
4. On twrp goto the install menu, navigate to storage and install the file.
5. Optionally you may clear the cache and then install magisk. I couldn't get it to work without magisk but YMMW

Already did that, multiple times. No success.
Same happened to me. It eventually forced into a fastboot bootloop. I had to flash and boot twrp from fastboot again, and then flash the full ota zip and essentially start over.
Decided to skip the root though, until there is a solid ROM release or a stable magisk.

I tried a similar approach. Cleared dalvik, hard reset then booted into Blu twrp. Flashed Full zip and then magisk again. Booted right up.

Yes that was one of my many troubleshooting steps as well, didn't work for me.
Can you help me with this, having a similar issue when I tried to unroot and screwed everything up.
Can anyone help me with this? I'm trying to push via adb the stock os and it looks successful but I don't see it in TWRP.
It's not a big issue, you just flashed the wrong magisk, just boot into recovery and re flash the stock OS
With this type of brick, if u r able to access recovery just go amd reflash, this is not a major brick
Hi! I've unlocked bootloader, latest TWRP and Latest AICP. No root. The phone will never boot to System from power off, from TWRP or normal reboot.
It will, however boot normally from bootloader screen, when I choose Start.
Have already wiped every partition, tried to reinstall ROM, the problem always persists.
Any idea what is causing this?
Thanks
